My family and I have headed to Canberra for the Easter break to visit relatives living here. The lure of a Mega event in town at the same time was just a coincidence, honestly .This afternoon I was talking to my uncle about a night cache in an old abandoned cemetery area in his suburb. He said he knew of another cemetery that was no longer in use and, out of the blue, decided we should go for a drive to visit both of them. As it turns out, this was the other cemetery he was talking about. As we drove in towards the entrance I decided to check the map on the off chance a geocache was located here. We all know there is hardly a cemetery in Australia that doesn't have at least one geocache in it, so I was not at all surprised to find this multi waiting for me to find.We strolled around looking at the dates on the headstones. Gee they mostly lived to a ripe old age around here, especially considering the state of health services in 19th century! As we made our way around, and before even looking at the cache requirements, one location seemed to be calling out to me to have a look at. Sure enough, a closer inspection of that area revealed a cache safely tucked away. Saves doing the math to work out GZ . TFTC
In town for the Mega with MummyPenny. We passed here many times but stopped for the wander up to get the numbers and the find. Love these remnants of history sleeping in the countyside. Thanks Sol de Lune.
Really old and makes me feel less old, especially like the remnant stones at the entrance.Great place and cache, found and signed with Baktrak. Thanks Sol de lune
Canberra Mega trip, a last minute decision to join Team Astro and Deanside in Canberra for Easter. Logs signed as TAD, what a great trip. Thanks to Sol de lune for all the effort in placing and maintaining these caches.
Found on the Mega Capital Geobash coastal loop via Adelaide - Barrington - coast to Mexico City loop. A lot of caches and white line fever was sweated out. Thanks Sol de lune and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet! Some logs signed as TAD as teamed up with Tenkae and Deanside for additional fun.
Now chasing caches around Canberra for the Easter 2024 Geobash, signing as TAD which encompasses Tenkae, Astro and Deanside. Enjoying great company and the different aspects of our Commonwealth Capital. Thanks for placing the cache Sol de lune contributing to this great game we play. Happy trails, deanside!
Another day spent Pre-Mega geocaching in Canberra and surrounds collecting geocaches in preparation for the Canberra mega which officially starts tomorrow. I am super glad to be up here from the Victoria to enjoy this beautiful week and the amazing people that this mega has brought to the area. Thank you so much for this hide logbook and container are in great health.Tagging onto the qld group that are chasing mostly Multi caches and some Challenges caches.Log sheets as "8 for QLD" and BHC to save space and time.
A plan to grab a few tree climbing caches in the local area was set up and I was happy to participate. We had a band of brothers who could climb when called upon. However the organiser had arranged for just one person to climb all the trees. I did end up muscling in and climbing one myself, the climb gave me a sense of enjoyment. The logs were signed tree crew and the caches were replaced as found, with the exception of the cache that was found on the ground, lol.Afterwards we set off to grab the "Tick" geoart caches. They were spread out and some interesting hides. There were also a few caches we found along the way. There is so many caches in canberra it is crazy, lol.Logs were signed and caches replaced as found, thanks for the hides.
Travelled to Adelaide to attend The Great Leap Forward, then off to Canberra for the MEGA my first visit to these places. Today we concentrated on Multi and others on our list that will help to fill some Challenges. We cached as quite a large group and signed logs as 8 for QLD plus BHC. It has been great visiting this area of Australia and I have a lot more to go. I do like Cemetery caches, such a lot of history. TFTC
Another day spent Pre-Mega geocaching. Today we are chasing mostly Multi caches for some Challenges that require numbers.Log sheets as "8 for QLD" and BHC to save space and time.Tom and Mary did us well today.Log signed and cache replaced as found on March 26, 2024. TFTC, Sol de lune.
Today, we were on a mission that was actioned packed from starting very early in the dark and finishing in the dark. Covered many different suburbs and had lots of fun along the way. Special thanks to the high tree climbing volunteers, there certainly are some super high hides around, and Norfolk pines are my least favourite to climb. The teamwork was extraordinary, and everyone actively played their part, either physically or mentally ???? ??To save room on the log sheets, we are signing as 8 for QLD.Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing so many good puzzles, multis, and traditional hides for the benefit of the geocaching community to find ??
TFTC smile out and about on sunny day in Canberra with so much to do signing as 8 for Qld what a great team we make and lots of laughter and fun Thank you Sol de lune for placing this cache for our enjoyment
Out and about in Canberra with the view to collect Multies.Caching with and signing as the group '8 for QLD' + BHC and having a great day.TFTCache Sol de lune
Bit of hunt to find the target, co-ords were a little off, but still located quickly. Took nothing, left a marble and a pencil, signed log. TFTC#quadranscentennial
Making the most of a break in my carer duties to go for a wander. Grateful of the large trees when the heavens opened. Love a cemetery cache and historic ones are the best. Thanks for keeping this one alive. Tftc
This is an interesting hidden cemetery.
Recently mown, so snakes should be less of a problem. I was swooped by the resident Australian Magpie - unusual as I wasn't wearing a helmet. But he disappeared after I talked to him.
Read all the other headstones, too. Quite sad to see a 3 year old being buried here, but not unusual for the times.
I also solved the old cache.

A nice little multi in a quaint spot we only found about because of this cache. Thanks for bringing us here and highlighting this part of the local history. A good adventure all round and the hide is in superb nick. TFTC
Found with Jenno3 and kenare on our way back to camp. Such a quiet cemetery.... or is it?? We soon had the cache found, signed and replaced.
Sorry for late log. The last few months have been crazy. tftc

Last one for the day….. kenare and I do love cemetery caches but haven’t found many around here. Got the required numbers and headed off for the search. Nice little cemetery but just in dusk was kinda spooky. Tftc
What can I say? I love a cemetery and I love a multi in a cemetery!!! I was surprised to see such a well maintained cemetery hiding up here on the hill. A nice way to find coords and a cache. Tftc
TFTC. I've been here before with a walking group. It's fascinating looking at this sort of history. Similar to when I did a cache in Majors Creek cemetery.
Yes I do love an easy genie multi - especially when it's my final Canberra caching fix before heading off at long last to Perth and quarantine. No connections here but always appreciate a country cemetery to nose around in.
What an incredible location! I had no idea this was here. This was my first multi and I enjoyed it so much. Thanks
#7341 A post-lunch trip down to Kama on a very pleasant late autumn day. It's been years since I've been here having grabbed pretty much everything on previous visits, but plenty of new caches now.
My first time in this cemetery. Interesting place.
Thanks SDL

Another brilliant, unknown destination in Canberra to visit. So much history here! No problems with gaining data and a straightforward find at GZ. Log is in good, dry condition.
Thank you Sol de lune - a favourite from me.

After cycling in the Kama Nature Reserve down the road we dropped in on the way home to look around the historic cemetery and complete this multicache. This cache took us to two graves with very ornate and beautiful headstones. Quick and easy find. TFTC Sol de lune.
A cemetery that I spotted many years ago and have driven past perhaps hundreds of times over the years.
It was nice to visit today and browse the many headstones and scattered graves. I wonder how many there may be unmarked.
Coordinates for the GZ calculated with ease and a short stroll to find the cache.
Thanks Sol de lune for placing this cache. I have always enjoyed strolling around cemeteries (as weird as that may sound) and reading through the many and varied inscriptions.
Cheers.

I meant to visit the site when riding by a couple of weeks ago, but didn't have the time. Today's effort involved scrambling up the rock slope from the underpass, hoiking a bike over the railing, then riding over to the cemetery passing a fair bit of long grass. The cemetery was full of long yellow grass, quite nice with the summer sun. Solved & found quickly.
Thanks for the chance to visit another hidden corner of Canberra

Well that was fascinating! And such a truly beautiful spot to be walking in the evening. Out with GLISS! to stretch the legs and grab a daily each. Thanks for the great cache! A fav for me.
Collecting a few multis today. Interesting spot to visit. Container in good condition. TFTC SDL
Sorry it send before I wrote anything.
It was a quick find and all in good order. I had spied this ae a nice one ages ago and while wanting to do some caching on the way home this was perfect for today. Thanks for pointing out this nice old cemetery. I like these multis. This is a good one.
Thank you Sol de lune for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Zipping around for the day, found a few spare moments for some quick caching (as you do). Drove down to the underpass then walked up to GZ. Had known of this resting place for many a year, never had reason to pop by, before today. Read a few of the inscriptions, including those required, then a quick wander over for an easy find. Back to the geomobile and reversed all the way back out. TNLNSL TFTC
Nice and easy find on a very mild afternoon.. fortunately sorted out coords before rain stated coming down. TFTC SDL!
Busy busy busy. I’ve done no logging for another two weeks. Now I’m nearly four weeks behind with my logging. I'm not having any trouble finding caches, though. I am doing my usual activities with my lady and her kids, I'm also starting a program of cleaning and tidying my house, including disposing of lots of old possessions. I'm also helping some mates move stuff between houses, which is taking me all over the place, and which is giving me caching opportunities. I’m only doing logging now because today’s cache needs maintenance …
I've dropped off the load of stuff I picked up yesterday, and I have another small load heading the other way, ie south. I don’t have the trailer today, so I was able to drive down the dirt road to the gate. It’s a nice day, and still early. I’ve unloaded the four dogs and off we go. The cemetery is interesting, and I soon had the information I needed for GZ and an easy grab, for day 243 of my current streak. My target is 366 for a couple of challenge caches. Doing all right so far. Ohhh! Look. Exactly two thirds of the way to my target. And another multi for another challenge …
Thanks for this one, SDL

Quick. Simple multi after a work out. Has to be mindful of the long grass and the creatures that might be here. TFTC
Always enjoy a good historical cache and a cemetery with history is a bonus .
I own at least 7 cemetery caches and cachers just enjoy them .
No one around and read some of the headstones of the local residents .
A fav tick added to the 16 .
Many thanks to Sol de lune.

I went to collect a mystery cache nearby for my daily cache (day 81) but as per usual there were too many muggles about. Since I had enough time I decided to keep on walking, all the way under the road and up to this multi. I’ve long driven past and seen this cemetery and wondered what it was all about. I thought it was a farmer’s private cemetery but it turns out it used to be the site of a church. Now known as the Weetangera Cemetery, it's one of the oldest in the ACT and it's also on ACT Heritage list. Anyway, I found the required information very easily, punched in the solved coords and quickly found the cache. TFTM
Really enjoyed this multi. It is amazing what is around canberra that you don't realise. Interestng subject matter and location. Swapped a pathtag for a Hutt River keyring. Tftc!
Found out trying to get the Hearts but missed them so did this instead. Thanks for bringing me here
TFTC I love a offset multi cache and the great thing was there was only one waypoint and that was why I loved it awesome multi geocache saw the GZ I new were it would be...
Found 13:40 4/11/17 while out for a walk on a beautiful sunny day. A lot of interesting local history here. Thank you Sol de lune for the cache.
I have been wanting to come and see this area for a while now, but with doing a daily find have kept this free as one of my close to home caches. With only a few more weeks of the streak left with some spare time I was keen to come have a look. Was nice to find a cache so close to home, a short level walk but really did enjoy having a good look around while here as well. I have always know this cemetery was here but without the cache to tempt me unlikely to have come in to have a look despite really liking locations like this. A nice straight forward multi and cache found easily, thanks for the cache Sol de lune and for highlighting this area. FP.
This was an interesting one. I like learning something new about our environment. Thanks for placing & maintaining this cache. Kutgw
Considered attempting this one in the summer months but the long grass dissuaded me. A bit less threatening today and found the coords and the cache quickly in this peaceful spot. TFTC SDL
Parked across the main road in a nearby couldersack to look for another cache across the main road.
After I had finished I realised this multi was literally straight across the road!
I noticed there was also an underpass which worked out perfectly and took me straight to the cemetery!
The coords were quickly gathered and a a nice quick find was had at GZ.
Thanks for bringing me to this VERY hidden cemetery that I had no idea existed, this is the sort of place that only geocachers know about!
Thanks Sol de lune

Found with Coybear2000. Due to other commitments we didn't get a chance to go caching until late. C suggested we do a night cache and then suggested this multi in the cemetery. We needed our torches. We parked at the suggested spot and had to be careful as there was an enormous puddle that disappeared into the tunnel under WH Dr. Avoiding mud we made our way to the way point and got the info. We solved for GZ and headed off. Soon we had CIH. TFTC.
I had noticed this cemetery when I first moved to Canberra and had always thought that one day I'd like to have a look. Never had I thought that I'd do that in the dark. I am planning on re-visiting during daylight hours.

Out for a find with Trodectus. We had a later than expected start for this as had originally planned to do during daylight. Unfortunately light was failing as we set off. Arrived at parking co-ords. Cemetery cache at night....always wanted to do that..NOT. Off we set and made our way to GZ. After getting co-ords, headed to GZ. Quick find, log signed and replaced. TFTC
Super one!!! That was our first multi and it was so much fun!!! One of our favourites! Tftc!!
I was looking at a couple of my photos we took near GZ, and realised I had not logged this from a few weeks ago. We really enjoyed this part of Canberra history and loved seeing something we did not know existed in this area.
Thanks for showcasing another spot here in our beautiful capital,

For some odd reason, I had never noticed this was here (neither the cemetery ... Or the cache!?!!?) until I was looking at the map last night, to see if there was anything close by to where I was going this evening (my weekly quilting evening, in Cook
By the time I did all the other things I did this afternoon (less than I wanted to get done - sigh) and walked the dog, and headed out the door it was starting to get dark (and cold - my car told me it was 4degrees as I arrived) ... for some odd reason I had previously noticed the road in to the parking waypoint ... so that was easy to find even in the dark ... Although a bit of a surprise when I drove in along the track, through an open gate, and came face to face with a huge puddle in front of an underpass - lol (I wasn't sure how deep the puddle was or exactly what was on the other side of the underpass (besides a nearby cache I had found from the other side a while back, and bike paths and stuff where I probably wasn't meant to drive - so I turned my nice little short car around and parked, grabbed my torch/etc, and headed for the Cemetary. Sat on the edge of a grave to write down numbers/work things out ... Oh - wrong people ... got numbers from correct one next row over and came back and sat on the one that had a spot to sit (I hope they didn't mind - lol) and did the sums, came up with a likely GZ, wandered over and found the cache there
TFTC - an interesting spot that I will have to come back to in daylight (might have to park here and have a look around before/after I duck under the underpass and do the other nearby multi that I have not yet done
Also a good excuse to tweet that I was wandering around in a Cemetary at 6pm (when Sunset was about 5pm But it wasn't really very spooky - the main road is quite close and there were too many cars whizzing by making lots of noise - kind of ruined any chance of a haunted atmosphere - lol
Was also interesting to find a patch of paddy melons on the ground - I used to see lots of them where I grew up - so I got a dash of nostalgia with my dose of history

It was a gloriously sunny Winter day today, so we took The Woofer for a nice long caching hike in and around Pinnacle Nature Reserve. Saw some amazing views and found all the caches on our list, which is always a bonus!
We really liked this one!! A lovely, peaceful place (although The Woofer was growling at something we couldn't see...a bit creepy, given the setting!) and a quick walk to GZ. TFTC!

We parked at the other side of William Hovell Drive in the suburbs and then followed the horse route under the road. After negotiating some muddy puddles and a few fences we made it to the cemetery. Except for Geocaching we would never have known this was here. The multi was soon solved and then it was a quick find. A favourite for showing us the cemetery. TFTC Sol de lune.
Thanks for the memories. Poignant to visit on a date so close to the anniversary of Thomas' death. TFTC
Walked in from 'Hawker Pony Grid', so didn't have to worry about parking. Found a track through the grass to the entrance gates of a very interesting old cemetery. I've heard of this, but never visited before. Information gathered quickly and off to GZ for a quick find.
FP for an interesting location. Thanks.

#1026. 68 days in a row.
After meeting some friends for lunch in Civic, I headed out to grab a few caches. I wanted a Multi and had noticed Chain Gang was near the Kama Nature Reserve where I'd been. When I found a parking spot, I noticed that this one was closer to that parking spot than Chain Gang, so I went for this one instead.
Information was quickly gathered and coordinates calculated. Then I wandered over to where the cache was and made a quick discovery.

After doing the NRL series plus a few extras in that area, I wanted more exercise (despite the heat) so did the Ka(r)ma series then came here. I wonder how often this place is visited apart from cachers - a good reason to have a cache here. (I noted their age difference was 14 years!). As I was heading over the the final I came across a large echidna. TFTC.

Swung by this one in the evening after a long day in he lab.
I guess the bonus of doing this one in the evening is that you get the added spookiness factor when wandering around the really old headstones in the dark! [:O)]
Anyway, after parking the car at the waypoint, it was on with the torch and off I went for the wander up to start the multi. Wow! I never knew this old place was here! Then a quick and easy solve of the calcs was followed up with a quick and easy find [^] The nearby pond was absolutely alive with the chorus of croaking frogs. God they were loud!
Thanks for this neat multi at this interesting old spot, SDL. I'll give this one a fave

As I slowly crawl upto my next milestone, I decided to head out today and clean up a few solved puzzles on the north side of Canberra.
I have driven past this one hundreds of time and today I finally called in to complete it. I followed the directions on the listing and parked at the identified parking spot and trekked over to the listed coordinates. Little did I know, there is actually a closer park and an easier approach lol agh well. This cemetery is in pretty good condition and the headstones visited look like they have recently been repainted. Information collected and it was over to the GZ for a quick easy find.

Even though we've known about this cemetery for a long time and drive past it often, we've never stopped. It was very peaceful, and interesting, and sad. The rest of the geofamily wandered around reading all the gravestones while I plonked myself down on the grass and did the maths. We soon had the cache in hand. Thanks very much for this cache. Our very first multi. A favourite from us.
Wow, that was one water logged container. Have used lots of these and never had an issue like this. No crack in it, so no idea.
Anyways, different style has been placed so hopefully all will be good....cache on.

We have probably driven past this one a few hundred times so thought it was about time to stop and check this one out. Mr Stormcatcher has previously visited this patch of history on a geophysics excursion once looking for gravitational anomalies (ie unmarked graves) so it was interesting to be back on more of a geocaching excursion . We drove up the dirt trail off the main road where is was a short stroll to the first and only WP. Once the numbers where crunched it was a simple walk over to GZ. Cache was surprising exposed and as mentioned by previous finders a bit damp. Log was still in relatively good condition however and we double bagged it for good measure awaiting the CO to do some further cleanup\repair.
We both enjoyed the visit and reading all the plaques and tombstones and what was left of the old church. Perfect timing with the sunset and approaching storm clouds made for a spectacular sight as a bonus. Thanks for a nice simple and enjoyable multi SDL...not sure why it has taken us so long to give this one some love. TFTC

I'm sorry to report that the cache was filled with water wrecking some of the contents. Log book has some minor water damage. Needs a better waterproof container I think. Nice puzzle
As per my log, this beaut cache needs a waterproof container. The log could also do with drying out. Grass is all mowed so no issue with access even during summer.
