We were on a weekend visiting our grandson for his 3rd birthday and then followed by a geo event in Wonthaggi; Following the event, we headed off to grab a few of the multitude of Wonthaggi caches and this was one. Sadly we did not find this one. We looked carefully on the area from the windows, but as we moved closer to actual GZ the people inside noticed us so we moved on. Another DNF Sad

cheers

We came to Wonthaggi for the weekend for the mid year dinner event from Ballarat with passenger misscheif18 from Bacchus Marsh.
We had to DNF your cache Indoor Outdoor on 5/07/2014 2:47 pm. We searched but didn't find the cache today so this cache is a DNF for me.

Found this one a while ago with gwenny and kayster not sure why I hadn't loged it :p

I hadn't intended to do this one today, but as I drove past, I noticed there was not a car in the car park or a human being in sight so I thought it was a great opportunity. I pulled up and once again, the GPSr was all over the place so I decided to just use my eyes. I searched and searched and searched, read the hint and searched some more. I had honed in on an area that I thought most likely but I just couldn't see it. In the end I had to PAF and get a hint about the height. It turned out that my instincts had guided me to the correct area and after another few minutes of searching I finally spied what I was looking for, extracted the log, signed it and returned it to it's well concealed home. Nice hide. This one will be getting a favourite from me because it really had me going It also meant I had a very late afternoon tea. Wink

Found with SUlly1 on our trip down for the local events.
Even those Leese and I knew what we were looking for, it took a bit of time to actually spy the 'one'.
Thanks again GF07, adding to the faves, always like a little extra effort placed in a cache

Found @ 4.21pm with Bogonghazy whilst on a Mission to find a Supermarket and got sidetracked caching instead. we resorted to the clue, and even then we were searching for a minute or two. Well done. Fave for effort here. No muggles about in or out here today. Maybe they are all away on Christmas Holidays Big Grin Thanks to Gonefishen07 for this hide.

After having a great time Gonefishen07s Springtime event with again headed off with the Coffee's grabbing a few caches before heading for home. We pulled up here and headed off to gz quite happy that there were no muggles either indoor or outdoor. This one took us awhile to locate and once we did we have to say that we were impressed with the workmanship and happy to have our name in the log and also happy to be leaving a favourite point.
Thanks again Gonefishen07 for keeping this one alive.

Very ingenious tftf

24-Aug-13
Had the place to ourselves when we arrived. Used the hint to locate as GPS was leading us a few m away from where we made the find. Another clever Gonefishen hide! Took more effort to extract the log though. I suspect a previous finder was too impatient to roll log up properly before jamming it back in. At least the log was dry, so signed, rolled nice and tight, and replaced in it spot.
TFTC Gonefishen07!

This morning we decided to focus on caches in the immediate vicinity of Wonthaggi and visiting them gave us a far better appreciation of the area. Accessing the area was straightforward especially as there were no muggles early Sunday morning. We were very lucky to approach this hide from the right angle. Almost immediately we noticed something a little different and closer inspection revealed the cache. This was an excellent hide which would have been much harder to locate when approached from a differnt angle or in brighter sunlight. The cache and it's contents were in good condition. TFTC Gonefishen07 and for giving us a reason to visit this part of Wonthaggi. This cache earns a favourite from us.

28-Feb-13
After a day around Kongwak and Wattle Bank started heading home through Wonthaggi. Arriving at around 3pm had a crack at this before the schools got out. A wise move as I only saw one muggle. After waiting for the GPSr to settle a quick search then reading the hint proved vital in finding this cache.

Another typical Brusue cache, love em!!

18-Feb-13
Found on a first drive around Wonthaggi while staying for a few days.
Most were very tricky hides that took a while to find.
This was no exception, with only a few muggles inside and not in view of where I was.
I had a good long look all around and checked out the other logs & then had an idea.
Thankfully it was just what I thought it had to be and was still safely in place.
An excellent & well hidden cache Brusue, thanks. A favourite for sure.
Roostaman.

27-Jan-13
With the long weekend, Channel Challenge, Vintage Bikes and Markets on the Island, and the Kilcunda Lobster Festival all on today it was not going to very cache-finding-friendly, so it was a good time to visit the microvial-cache-capital: Wonthaggi. It turned into a most-of-the-day effort getting to each of the caches in and around town (and then a few more on the way home), but it was a good day out.

Reading the cache description and clue and looking around at GZ, I had a fair idea of what I'd be looking for - a Gonefishen-esque cache if I ever saw one. This one had me looking for a short while - lucky it was late on Sunday and the adjacent facilities were closed and empty. But after a look around I managed to spot the well placed hide because it looked just a little bit different. TFTC.

25-Jan-13
Pool closed so no muggles. Easy find great camo. Hard to get logbook out though.

20-Jan-13
This was a clever hide and it took a little while to spot it - luckily there was no one around early on a Sunday morning so we were able to search unhindered. Thanks for a cleverly crafted cache.

A very good hide and one of our favourites. There were swimmers in there but they weren't a problem. TFTC.

02-Jan-13
Found at 3:18 PM GAFF3. I was convinced that this cache was missing as the GPSr was directing me to an area where a tree had been cut down. However I then decided to widen my search area and to me amazement I managed to put my hand on a very nicely crafted little hide.
Thanks Brusue
ps: We hope that soon you will graduate to larger caches Wink

Before heading east in preparation for 2013, we couldn’t resist the temptation to put a few more smilie faces on our Gippsland map.
Luckily we had the place pretty much to ourselves and we added our name to the log of this cleverly blended hide. Gets a favorite tick from us for originality and neat placement.

TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt Brusue.

We attempted this one fairly early in the morning on a saturday. There were still nearby muggles but they were focused on other things. Very clever hide and well camouflaged in a tricky spot. Thanks Brusue for the challenge.

Oh now this was a bit of a sneaky one!! very well made and hidden!!

What ideas I get when I am out and about caching, but put them into action I do not.

Surprisingly, it did not take us very long to locate the cache, but love the camo on this one!!! very nice!!!

I found this cache today at 4:53pm as the 72nd of 80 on our Wonthaggi Rail Ride Day. These ones are much more our cup of tea. A really nice cache. Thanks from D, HA & A B-A.

Alansee found this cache quickly while I was still looking elsewhere. Nice camo! TFTC

Another group assault on a cache today - they were falling regularly. As one cacher was looking in one direction I was looking in another and there was the cache. Another neat hide, this time from Brusue.

Yet another legendary night caching run by the The Demolition Crew (TDC) consisting of course of myself, Quasar3671 and TrailRunning.... Tonight we decided to hit the Rail Trail in Wonthaggi by gonefishin07. We started the trail just before nightfall and finished around midnightish. So about 6 hours in all, returning the next day to collect the newly published ones. For the whole trail, we we able to find 2 FTF's and no DNF's at all. Personally for the whole trip, including the caches done on the way down to Melbourne, just over 90 finds. Pretty stoked with that. After the rail trail we completed a few others around Wonthaggi as well.

We had a huge amount of fun on the night, riding, chatting and joking around. The occasional break, but it was pretty much wall to wall caching and riding for the whole night. The caches were creative and varied, some were quick finds and some took quite a while, all were fun if not sometimes frustrating. Congrats to Gonefishen07 for putting a wonderful trail out there for everyone to do and Hearse068 for helping. for putting a wonderful trail out there for everyone to do. I hope you don't mind generic logs on this series, and I will put a personal comment on some of the outstanding ones for the night.

Another potentially very tricky hide, found quickly due to Marty's keen observation power and the lack of muggles. Nice one. Fav point for camo. TFTC.

11-Sep-12
The Demolition Crew (Quasar3671, Trailrunning and Blacklegend) had been watching over the weeks as the Rail Trial series had been gradually laid out. With great anticipation we watched as the last caches were being placed and published and just had to do a night bike run to do the series. With all the plans set, we made our separate ways to Wonthaggi, placing cars at strategic points and then heading back to the start to begin the nights adventure.
We had a great night with plenty of laughs, as we made our way along the trail, stopping at each cache hide to make the find. The plethora of cache types and hides was really impressive with quite a few having us standing about scratching our heads (maybe even adding a few grey hairs). It paid to have the three of us there as on more than one occasion two of us would be searching frivolously and the third TDC team mate would just pull the cache out of nowhere. We even managed to find one of the last yet to be published hides (and is it turned out these were published less then 12 hours later).
The ride was nice and easy with many highlights along the way. Many thanks go to Gonefishen07 and her helper Hearse068 for spending the time and effort in laying out such a great and fun power trail. Once we completed that we loaded the bikes into the cars and then proceeded to find some caches in town before making our way back home. All in all 66 caches found by me for the night.

With the trail completed we loaded up and spent some time caching about town. A really great and sneaky hide here and just by pure luck I found the cache first go. Thanks.

11-Sep-12
After a week or two of new publications in the Wonthaggi area it was time for The Demolition Crew (Quasar3671, Blacklegend & TrailRunning) to pack the bikes and organise a night of fun and laughs riding the Rail Trail gathering micro’s all the way. It was loads of fun, and in some cases frustration (nano’s in the bush and all) but a great trail to ride and find caches. By the end of the day, I had gathered 75 smilies, with others in the crew getting 60+ and 80+ for the day. The Rail Trail series here is a good one, and while there are many highlights, the best find of the night was a FTF on an unpublished cache! You just have to love the 200 metre spacing along this route to predict likely spots.

Having finished the trail, we headed for this one and it was soon found. TFTC.

08-Aug-12
After getting a ftf in town I decided to grab some caches in Wonthaggi area. I had to wait for a muggler to finish her cigarette and go back to the pool before I could search for the well camo cache. Sl thanks Brusue for the great hide.

Out with Robmc & BettyBoo3747, we were pretty soggy from a failed search at Information Station but had been fortified by a hot drink with lunch so ventured out again.
It was a bit strange being so close to the gym without going in for a workout, and although it was interesting to see what the heavy machinery had been working on, I was still perplexed by what it was for.
Like Hearse068 I spent half the time searching for the cache and half looking over my shoulder for a lifeguard's "please explain". Fortunately it didn't eventuate, because we spent quite some time searching until BettyBoo3747 found it in a spot where Robmc had already spent quite a while looking ... at least that's my excuse for missing it, I trusted him!!!
... and as I yet again ended up rerolling the log I had plenty of time to regret my rash rule about the non-finder replacing the log!

# 662. This was indeed a great and frustrating hide. We looked and looked with no success. Back to the car to have a look at the iPhone - picked up a few clues and back I went. Couldn't believe it when I said found it - wasn't even sure I had, but sure enough there it was in my hand. Success - woohoo. Had to do a little victory dance over this one. Robmc, hell+back and I signed and we were on our way again.

10-Jul-12
After a quick find just around the corner we though we should have a look for this one. That's a very weird concrete structure on the ground - we were wondering what it will be for.
Search for a while for this one, and eventually Bettyboo grab the cache. Nicely constructed cache.
Hopefully one day you will learn to make slightly larger caches. Smile
Thanks, Robmc.

One of 39 caches for the day and 12 night time finds after the dinner / event. Its fair to say that my average find stats dropped in the 3 hours that followed the event, however they were all quality hides and I had a blast working though each challenge.. In my tired late night state, I narrowed GZ down pretty quickly however couldn't quite locate it.. a quick phone a froiend call to Earthbound Dave (second and only) I returned to the correct side and made the find.. No gaurd Spiders here, and was glad for a muggle free cold wintery night find... Thanks Brusue for a great hide.. Find # 2671

27-Apr-12
found with Hearse068. Last time I came here the school was doing there school photo's near GZ but not today only a couple of swimmer and a lifeguard is all we could see. GPS and IPhone where jumping around but finally located it. Another sneaky hide. TFTC

Smile Found with Gonefishen07 on a day when we were meant to be surfing but the surf was no good so we decided to do our other favourite thing GO CACHING. Very cool camo. GPS and the iphone did not like the trees they jumped all over the place. Finally Gonefishen07 had her caching eyes on and after a short search she said I see it. We were waiting for the lifeguards to come and ask what we were doing but it seems they were too busy looking after the swimmer to be worried about us. SL TFTC

Whilst staying down at Cape Patterson for our annual Easter break with friends we did the ritual Sunday market. Thought we would check out a couple nearby. After having just done Sling Shot nearby we walked to this one. Whilst I was looking some 6 metres away Mr X went straight for it. I thought this was an excellent camo and still easy access. You have a vote from me for it
Thanks for the cache Brusue, excellent hide.

Very sneaky hide, but after doing heaps of StaceV hides around Lilydale, I was used to looking for something like this. Thanks Brusue.

After doing some FTF's with the owner earlier on this morning I said to them I should call in and do this one on my way home. Arrived at GZ to find the adjoining primary school having there school photo's taken near GZ so thought it best I don't create a seen and left this one for another day.
