On our way from Bendigo to Kyneton via a nearby Earthcache we noticed this old school. Unlike most old school efforts have been made to preserve whats left of the old stone walls. Unfortunately the method used has compromised the beauty of the stone work. Its hard to know what best. The cache was easily found thanks to good coordinates. I found a second cache underneath the top one. Very strange!
After leaving Bridgewater, it is time to start heading home. However, not before getting some more geocaches. Especially while trying to take a huge dint out of the 12 and 20 geocaches in each LGA challenge. Never cached in the Loddon nor Mount Alexander Local Government Areas, there are lots to select, but we do only have a small time window. After a lovely lunch at the Gold Exchange Caf, it was time to get back on the road.Wow, not much of the school left, but it was great to see what remains. Then it Huntress who spotted the hide. Thanks for the cache, Dick Tracy.Hunter
Love the fact that they're trying to save the ruins. Nice quick one on a sunny Sunday morning, TNLN TFTC
Looked this place up on the internet a few months ago but now I'm finally here to visit the site should last a fair while longer l reckon thanks for highlighting this particular location cheers KB
The location was nice and quiet and we could hear magpies singing as we found the geocache. Signed logbook and replaced as found!
On our Melbourne 2024 trip to Bendigo. If this cache was not here we would have driven past this historic ruin. Two cache containers in this location. Such amazing history hidden on the side of the road. TFTC
A nice quick find today as I as passing through the area. Thanks for placing.
An unusual situation for us instead of being in lovely warm Queensland we are hiding around cold old Victoria. Medical reasons and caravan repairs have us staying here and we will be looking forward to finding as many caches as possible while we are here. SL TFTC
Have driven past this site many times. Today was the day to stop and check it out. The cache found and signed.
Thanks for the cache dick-tracy
Thanks for the cache dick-tracy
Nice easy find, thank you. Interesting ruins that I would like to know more about. Thanks for the cache dick-tracy.
Jinky and John were away at the Castlemaine Jazz Festival, and the bands may have had the morning off, but we didn't! Time to hit some caches. What are education cuts doing! Left a Geonickel, SL TFTC.
On a road trip to Bendigo to see the relatives. Today we took the GeoMum for a drive to Maldon, Castlemaine and back to Bendigo and we found a couple of drive by cache on the way, this being the first. It didn't take us long to make a quick easy find of not one but two caches. We signed both logs. TFTC and bringing us to this spot to show us some history of the area. TNLN.
I've driven this road many times. Today I had time to stop. Great value for money - Two caches & logs for the price of one!! Many thanks
Have passed these ruins a few times and never stopped but this time we did. We googled some history about the school and it’s amazing to think it hasn’t been used in almost 100 year. TFTC
School holiday time for us usually means time to get out and about doing some geocaching and see where we end up. It was good to see the remains being reserved! We thoroughly enjoying coming across treasures such as this- #1 reason for caching!
Nice one! I'm a local and have been in this area many times but I never actually noticed the grave here. Was nice to find it while looking for the cache. There were two cache containers in the one spot, which is something I haven't seen before. So I don't know what was going on there.
Heading out of Melbourne for a bit of a break, first stop is Castlemaine.
Heaps of caches around here, mostly around abandoned mines so time to increase a few attributes here.
So drove up on Monday afternoon and stopped for one on the way up.
Then spent the next few days visiting a lot of the historic sites and finding the surrounding caches.
Fairly easy to find, was not long before cache was in hand.
Thanks for the cache and the hide.
Log book has been signed and returned

Stopped here before as I love ruins. The hardships the people faced but probably just accepted that as part of life. Thank you for making me stop once again
Stone ruins are magical places, they create quite an atmosphere. Signed both logs, tftcs
Quick Drive by.
What an amazing game of Tetris they had building the walls.
Nearby on trees are some basic plaques to commemorate the lives of two people. Husband and wife? I doubt they attended school here.
TFTC TNLN
Replaced log book bag.
Cache dry. Replaced in same spot.

A drizzly cold Victoria’s day calls for a country drive.. we went on a little trip into town whilst camping nearby and stopped to see this place of interest. Lucky us, it was interesting for the history and a nice quick cache find!
Thanks for this cache.
Thanks for this cache.
was a little confused with there being 2 containers, but found pretty quickly. TFTC
As a member of TeamOZCAT logged in this cache, I am now logging as an individual predominantly to avoid any mistaken/unnecessary revisitation.
Under groundspeak guidelines, this logging is acceptable as I was indeed at Cache GZ in person in recent times. However, all cache owners have the right to delete logs as they see fit. Usually done to "Armchair loggers" or inappropriate texting.
If any cache Owner/s have questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact.
TeamOZCAT logged finds when both Karen and Reg logged as individuals. This logging is exactly the same, only in reverse. Again, groundspeak acceptable.
For an unspecified period of time TeamOZCAT are no longer cache searching but remain active in our cache management and maintenance.
I sincerely thank all CO's and wish you all the best in your endeavours. Cheers Karen

TeamOZCAT left Albury Wodonga Thursday to cache Bendigo district, and some on route. The Smiley series was one, as well as some Adventure Lab and others. We thank all CO's for placing and maintaining their respective caches, and if there were issues, we would have messaged CO with details.
What a shame that a once vital place of learning has been neglected to the point of ruin as it would have been crafted with skill. I was slightly puzzled to find not just one cache container but two in the same hiding place. TFTC dick tracy
TFTC how interesting that part of it is still here must have been admazing in its day
Another week of getting out and about in the caravan for the team, this time to the Maldon area. Maldon is a great town with a variety of shops still open in beautiful historic buildings. Love them. Found 2.35, disappointing to see all the rubbish around. FP from me for highlighting the old school.
It seems nearly every tree has a cache shaped hollow here. Tried a couple before I found the right one. Would be interesting to get some stories from the days when this place was in operation.
Anyway Thanks
Anyway Thanks
This was our first cache. We were stopping by to see the school and do a bit of research on it and we saw cache was here. We signed the log and rehid it
TFTC. A nice sunny Saturday morning, on the fist weekend that Regional Victoria has a certain amount of freedom from lockdown. We decided to do a short trip out to Muckleford to see whether the geosenses were still there after a long time in lockdown.Second for the morning before heading into the Forest.
Fortunately the cache was well away from the other tourists visiting this site.. we made the find, logged and headed off. Thanks dick-tracy.
Out caching with dehands today, this old school was on the list. It would've been rather special in its day. TFTC
Found on our trip up to the Mega. Stopped to take photos of this lovely old ruin
On our way to the mega and went a little off the beaten track we even did a u turn when Siri told us not to...so glad we did ...seeing the old ruins of the school was beautiful
A surprise stop at these ruins on way to mega!! So glad we did a u-turn after flying past this place. While discussing how cool it would have been to stop there, we realised there was also the added bonus of a cache. So it was a no-brainer. Hit the brakes and headed back for our first find of the day. TFTC
In the area for an event and to do some caching with Snap Happy and The Empire.
Had a great day driving the trails with the music pumping and lots of laughs.
Can't wait to come back and visit again.
cheers for the cache.

Thanks for your geocache, dick-tracy. The cache/s are in good condition in a good place. It was well concealed. Ruins of schools like this help me to reflect on what life was like way back then. Like they say, "The past is a foreign country. They do things differently there."
*Found after attending the 2 Months to the BIG one in St Arnaud - Castlemaine*
Out caching with *The Empire* and *OmegaMan*
A great day full of laughs, good company and great **(?)** music A nice drive through the area with some caches easier to find than others.
Thanks for the cache dick-tracy. Appreciate your efforts.

TFTC the camo had disappeared - very easy to spot, put a lot of bark into GZ to cover it up.
