[green] Home for Christmas. Well, sort of. Home is actually Palmerston North, the rest of the family are in Rotorua, and now I am off to Opotiki with mum to catch up with the rest of the family who left for the beach a few days ago. I haven't swum in the ocean for years!! So mum and I are are caching our way to the beach. We stopped for a cache just outside Kawerau and the car door slammed shut in the wind onto mum's hand, so there was no caching between there and Whakatane Hospital to get the hand checked out. No bones broken, just crush injuries. Back on the road, caching again!
Bisons and nanos in trees are amongst my least favourite caches, but they seem to be popular around here! At least I found this one. yay!
Merry Christmas from the Seagnoid!

Stopped off on the journey home and found this, but very wet in the container. Tipped out the water and dried the log with a cloth & in the air for a short while, but if someone is there on a picnic you may be able to air dry it for longer. I think the rubber seal has been lost which allows the water to get in. TFTC. It was our second go here, as we stopped one day but without GPS and realised it would be a big search so left for another day.
Whakatane trip, the mission was 24 geocaches in 24 hours. It was epic, we got 27. This was Number 15 find. Looked for hanging cache and found a hacksaw, thought this was a little large for description, looked for owner, not to be found. sneaky ,in plain view.
Had just enjoyed fish and chips for lunch down the road so had to grab this one. Quickly spotted ya!
The fantails seemed to know the cache location lol. They were watching us anyway lol. Tftc
With phone on 2% power rushed to GZ . Luckily spotted the hang out almost immediately. Tftc
I generally quickly spot such hides or don't find them at all, luckily the former at this one so I didn't hang around too long.

Didn't have to hang around long looking for this one, I looked in one place while Mrs W was right on to it. TFTC
We stopped over for a breakfast and in mean time went out for the cache. Doggies could really ran around.
I have always enjoyed the drive around Ohiwa Harbour when the tide is in. A beautful outlook.
Many thanks
Many thanks
Great hide at the hang out and we hung around until we found it, good camo job TFTC.

found before going on to get fish and chips. Only had time for 2 caches along this road before it got dark with only one little torch. tftc number 80!
Was going to stop here for the cache, but the cop I had gone past earlier, and then had driven past me while I was on my way to another cache, had turned around and pulled someone over right nearby to this cache, so figured I'll leave this one to until another day - so not really a DNF...
Only us and the cache hangin out today. This is a big mown reserve area with no facilities - not even a picnic table. Mmmm interesting. We searched for some secret track down to the harbour, but no. Oh well, its true to label - a place for hangin about not sittin about. TFTC

This was a bit more unusual, wasnt quite where the clue suggested, but we found it. Replaced it back to what was probably the original position. TFTC
Spent ages looking for this about 6 months ago, back in the area today & found it in 2 minutes flat. Amazing, thanks Geckoh
Nice area - took a few minutes searching and TuisReturn spotted this one. SL TFTC
I had to search a bit, but then looked straight at it. It's so satisfying to eventually find a cache! TFTC

The iPhone was at it again... sending us from one place to the next. In the end, we settled on a likely spot, and the nephew struck again. He was so proud. TFTC.
Sharp aint the word ..... he's good i tell ya! but yet another awesome find this was well camoflaged!
Wingnut rocks experience showed on this one, which took us into a draw 3 cashes each
out and about with wingnut rocks, teeny tina, and teleri_r. racing hard to be the first, wingnut took this race out, sharp eyes that fella.
Spotted it just as it got dark and I was about to give up. Forgot to take the hint - that would have helped. TFTC.
Collecting some caches today that were put out while away in South Island.
Reading the hint I thought Oh No I hate hanging caches i can never fid them. But there it was.
This little layby has seen some improvements over the years - looking nice now, wished i had an excuse to go and buy some fish and chips at the Oyster Farm and come back for lunch in the sun.

Unlike at Truck'n Gee Whizz there were no cache-page promises of staying dry at Ohiwa Harbour Hangout. And after the earlier rain we did indeed get wet while searching for this one tonight. Very pleased when we eventually spied the cache in the torchlight. Thanks.

The sun was shining so it was a nice wander across the freshly mown reserve and as we circled the cache site a few times ...... but we got the little hanger-on!!!
