Were headed to Victoria and stopping to pick up some caches along the way. What an amazing water hole Arrive here early so no dipping in for a swim. Cache container located, signed and placed as found.
On a camping road trip to East Gippsland and over the border into NSW, Eden, picking up a few caches along the way, this being one of them. Today we were travelling from Bombala to Wonboyn. We stopped here to stretch our legs and check out the water hole and of course find the cache, which Mrs Pooky did. What a top spot. TFTC and bringing us to this spot which we would never have known it was even here without caching. TNLN SL which was damp but writable and hadn't been found since February.
TFTC - in the area for a few days and decided to grab a few caches - beautiful little area

This sounded like an interesting place to stop, so we jumped out and headed for the creek. No peaceful waterhole today! After the large amount of rain over the last two days, the stream was a torrent. Unfortunately the cache was also full of water and everything was totally soaked. As we weren’t in a hurry, I went back to car and grabbed some supplies. We dried out the container, included a fresh log sheet inside two plastic bags, and swapped in a dry pencil. We also built a low platform of stones to lift the cache out of a puddle, but did not move the hide. It appears to collect water in that spot after heavy rain. Thanks for the hide.
We stopped by again to average our recent DNF. The day was not as nice so I had the GZ to myself. I also had the hint this time so I was much more confident in my searching. The container was eventually spotted once I started looking for a small container rather than a regular. TFTH
After not seeing another car for at least an hour, I stopped to take a look for this one and found muggles at the GZ. I still looked around for a bit but could not find anything. There is no mobile service so unable to check through logs.
What a hidden gem this place is!
It has been absolutely decimated since the fires, but still such an incredible location.

Our well hidden waterhole is certainly more exposed since the fires and the original cache just ash, but the hide is still there so we have placed a new container. Even without the greenery this is still a lovely spot to visit.

We were staying in Mallacoota for the week and today decided to do a loop up the Monaro Hwy and then across to Eden picking up a few caches along the way.
We were surprised to see the colour of the water in the hole to be so black! However we bet that when it gets really hot around here, that plenty of people would still go in for a splash.
Thanks dghoffy

Today I made my way from near Orbost to Thredbo, picking up a few selected caches along the way. The main objective today was to find caches in each of the LGA’s and the road atlas map pages that I was near.
Stopped in here for a look and a cache.
Thanks dghoffy for the cache.

We had originally planned to camp here last night but there were too many geocaching distractions on the way, and as such we didn’t arrive here until just after 13:00 today! What a great spot and a surprise waterhole indeed! The cache itself was soon located once located once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and for having bought us to this great location. Greetings from Zimbabwe
Yahoo! Gorgeous spot... hardest thing is deciding whether to camp here or not tftc
What was to have been a quick weekend trip to Melbourne to accompany leafotwind on his 3,000th cache find (since I had also recently completed the Victorian Premiers whereigo ) became an 8 day trip because there was a CITO [^] at Traralgon the next day which then led to Mallacoota and the Snowy Mountain Highway [^] since I couldn't legally use the Great Alpine Road as I didn't have snow chains because the boring freeway back to Melbourne and then back to Shepparton didn't sound like fun
The first day, I met my sister in Bendigo as she waited for her semi to be unloaded and reloaded, so we went op shopping in the meantime[:X] From there it was off to Melbourne and the group find of the Victorian Premiers whereigo which had taken me to many spots in Victoria [^] Then the group slogged our way up a slippery, muddy slope [|)][xx(] to get a couple of simple drive by 4 x 4 caches (when the tracks are open) before caching on into the night
I made a find on a previous DNF at Moe then it was off to Clean Up a Creek at Traralgon [^] followed by finding some bloody good caches (both containers and reasons for placement) around the area with leafotwind, NoWorries andAlphaDeltaIndigo [:X], chatting to Crisp image as the group found Wherever I Lay My Hat before Rex and I left the group, walking in the Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve at dusk[^], seeing a huge Dr21 dredger once used for coal mining and now placed at Morwell, finding a tiny grave in the middle of a shopping area , finding my 1st 3D printed cache container and then it was off to the Lakes Entrance area and wandering out on the peninsula[^]
Seeing old RAAF airfields and radio bunkers, seeing tiny country towns and meeting some great people (including an almost muggle woman and her children in Mallacoota where she had previously looked for 1 cache and who may now get into geocaching properly [^]), seeing the sun rise while surrounded by kangaroos and standing on the eastern coast of Vic and chatting with Rollmatrix throughout my time in Mallacoota and Genoa
Spending a few hours chatting with a lovely truckie, Michael [:X], who was on a wood chip run to Canberra as we traversed the countryside in the dark (after I had apologised for slowing down his fully laden rig as Harry crawled his way up a hill ) then I pulled into Cooma for a break and an EC and also found a cache, Southern Cloud, about the aircraft accident and then accidentally ended up at another memorial cache, Southern Comfort, Southern Cloud or Southern Storm, later on in the trip
Seeing brumbies amongst the snow along the edge of the road at night in the mountains in NSW [^], seeing a thermal pool early in the morning with steam rising from it in the cold air and water plants growing up from the sandy bottom [^], seeing the grave of the alleged Man from Snowy River while finding the multi The Man from Snowy River - HCPPP [^] and then chatting to SciFiRulz who I managed to sneak in a quick visit with before heading home and finding The Highest Railway Station on the way
Over the 8 days there was 9 DNFs (although I did manage to find a few on my 2nd attempts ), 1 CITO event attended and a total of 111 cache finds including 3 FTFs
As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby

Thankyou so much for an easy find , camped here for the weekend must come back in summer for a swim.
Bellbirds! We love bellbirds. And what a lovely secret swimming spot!. Thanks for the cache
I sought out some geocaches while on a six-day trip with others from Pedal Power in Canberra to East Gippsland to ride the East Gippsland Railtrail. I found 32 caches plus I collected two travel bugs to share the journey. The weather was fine and mild, the scenery delightful and the company pleasant, making for a great trip.
This cache was a reasonably straightforward find, being right on the coordinates. What an attractive spot. I had lunch here and even had a (brief) dip in the water. Another place worth visiting that I wouldn’t have known about but for geocaching! Thank you dghoffy for installing and maintaining this cache.

Travelling down the Imlay Rd late in the afternoon, we stopped for this cache and stayed the night. What a fantastic place. Thanks for bringing us here.
The long weekend was here and it was time for fitzy_1965 and I to head down to Vic in the geo-unit for an epic geomission We had a great time camping, cruising around admiring the beautiful scenery and nabbing LOTS of caches! A great weekend of quality caching all round!
After a quick stroll in it was a quick find of the cache at this beautiful spot!
Thanks for the hide, dghoffy

What a delightful spot that we wouldn't have found without geocaching. A handy spot to stop on our way back from Eden. I think I lost my little Sony camera here scrambling around rocks. I should have read the hint first, my coords had me in the shrubbery on the wrong side, all my photos of my trip gone
Stopped to stretch the legs on the way to Berridale. What a lovely swimming hole! TFTC
Great little spot, felt like free camping but we continued towards home. First in new log!
Found on our trip to Mallacoota. After driving to Eden for some GCA business, we drove up here to get these two isolated caches. It was well worth the drive - once we walked over to GZ, it was awesome to find the water hole. Awesome views from up here - I felt like jumping right in. A quick find once we got to GZ. A great cache that was definitely worthwhile. TNLNSL. TFTC dghoffy!
After a day of rest to catch up on my jetlag from WA, it was a perfect day to head out and grab some interstate smilies. Awesome spot here and well worth a Fav Point from me. Thanks for bringing me here dghoffy
What a site flowing water quiet with the sounds of birds and water

Suscoe's 2nd find of the afternoon as we wandered the back blocks south of Eden with Phetlern.
We had just finished the SST trail and this was a good opportunity to locate some further off the track caches.
A little damp as we recall but a great spot all the same.
Thanks to dghoffy for showing us this spot.

The plan this afternoon, with our fellow Victorians the Suscoe duo, was to head south as far as Newtons Crossing and work our way back to Merimbula. In contrast to the last couple of days, around the SST series, the ratio of caches to kilometres was vastly different in the south.
Ooh this one seemed as if it had been in the waterhole. We removed all the gooshy stuff but unfortunately did not have a fresh log as a replacement. Cache might need to be repositioned to prevent a reoccurrence.
Our thanks to dghoffy for bringing us here.

This cache appears to be in need of owner attention. It's wet, wet, wet and needs some TLC and possibly repositioning.

On a short holiday from Paynesville to Bermagui with a couple of nights in Merimbula on the way home. Great weather and great caches

We left home about six weeks ago with only a couple of fixed waypoints on our proposed route and so we find ourselves bound for Mallacotta. With no local knowledge we tried to access these two caches from the Princess highway but were out of luck. It looks to be a great spot to cool off on a summers day.
Thanks dghoffy

A simply gorgeous spot. We walked down the track, not knowing what to expect. After finding the cache quickly we then took in the sights of the rapids and rocks. Beautiful, with plenty of water rushing over and the sun shining brightly. A place we would never have found if it wasn't for caching. Thanks for bringing us here.
A beautiful place and a beautiful day for a stroll. Thanks for showing us a place we would never have seen of there were not a cache there.
Found at 11.00am on a tour of the district.
What a lovely little spot, its waters were meant to be swum in.
There are no signs indicating the waterhole.
Cache found after a short search.

In Eden doing water drop support for 4 scouts who are doing the Light to Light hike in Ben Boyd National Park. I done this cache filling in time and what a find. A lovely spot. TFTC.
6056 + 699 = 6755. Found while doing a loop from Pambula througfh Caan River, Mallacoota and back to Pambula in time for NYE.
What a lovely area - just off the road and so peaceful and inviting - but no time for swim for me today. Cache quickly found. Thanks again dghoffy !
Took TB LN - TFTC !!

Both TaurusSix and I were amazed by the waterhole. Except for the dark water it looked like it might be a pleasant spot for a swim.
1277. A quick find on the way to Mallacoota to meet up with the SA cousins. Another great spot that one would like to revisit with more time and better weather.TFTC.
The scene of our undoing! Well...not exactly but just around here was the scene of us figuring out what was our undoing. Oh hang on...in reality Doppelfrog figured it all out not me. I did at least find this cache and then proceeded to squeal like a girl when I dropped my GPS into a rock pool. In fact the only rock pool in the vicinity...and a very small one at that. I am soooo talented some days. Mind you it was only submerged for seconds so there was no damage....to the gps....
Out on an epic caching adventure with BatgirlandCo.
Absolutely beautiful spot here; we arrived late in the afternoon. Peaceful and still.
We had an eventful moment when Batgirl managed to drop her GPS in the only rockpool for miles around, but fortunately it was just a brief dunk, and no harm done.
Unfortunately, it was around here that I discovered a massive splinter (stick?) in my nearly-new tires and also a torn CV boot (smoke and grease everywhere). Fortunately, nothing critical, and we made it into Eden.

We couldn't let the opportunity for a FTF pass any longer, so after the rain kept us inside for the whole day yesterday, we retraced some of our journey to grab this cache.
The waterhole is really flowing at the moment.
Took: Nothing
Left: Screwdriver and calculator.
Thanks dghoffy for the cache
PS The cache container doesn't look to be all that waterproof, and the external cliplock bag has a big hole in it.

Congratulations on your FTF Ian and Penny. We used our lunch container to make the cache and figured it would do for the time being(we were just scouting on the day but couldn't resist setting a cache). We will be back shortly to put a more substantial container at this site.
