Logs

17-Nov-24
Out and about again, up Belmont dropping of bikes to friends came along the river to find some caches. Searched in snarky spot with big stick. Nothing here and looking at logs a long time since a find. DNF.

17-Nov-24
Needs a check if still active or archive. Cheers

17-Oct-23
I came, I searched, I failed, this one escaped me at 1:53 pm today. I will have to try again the next time I am in the area. Thanks for placing the cache Ozcrawf, I'll be back. Clear Sky 28C 49% 9 m/s

Puzzle has been solved and waiting for a while. Today we checked WP1 quite thoroughly but there was nothing to see. We PAFed for the final co-ords and also failed miserably there. Had a really good look for the cache in various nooks and crannies but came up empty, so will keep an eye on future logs.

28-Oct-20
Got the green tick but no WP1. Spent a long time searching but nada. On the watch list.

12-Dec-19
A bit snakey terrain for the last 6 meters but a quick find in the obvious spot.

A beautiful evening to be walking along the foot bridge.

Nice sunset and views of the water.

Thanks Ozcrawf for another good puzzle.

22-Nov-19
Finally found this one today. Cache had water in it and the log was covered in mould. We still managed to sign on a dry spot and replaced it as found. TFTC Ozcrawf!

Out with Team Barritts, tftc

14-Nov-19
Had another good 20 min look for WP1 but no luck today. We would love the CO to check if WP1 is still in play.

10-Aug-19
Found the tree at WP1, but no luck with any further clues. Had a really good look around the base of the tree, but no luck.

21-Apr-19
Having had this one solved for a while, and our success at a Nutty Tail (close by) we decided to try our luck with this one as well.

Arriving at WP1 we easily found the said tree and started our search. After about 15 mins with no luck we read back through the logs to see what we may be looking for and realised that the next stage WP are probably missing due to the fact that someone has cleared the tree centre and surrounds of all leaf and bark litter and I am guessing the WP needed for stage 2. We did also search around the base and what material was there but alas no luck.

I know when people can't find a cache they scream for the CO to check even though everyone else seems to be able to find it. However in this case it may pay to drop by and verify if it is or isn't there.

TFTH and puzzle Ozcrawf!

21-Apr-19
No luck here today with 4 sets of eye's searching, didn't make it past WP1.

TFTH and puzzle, Ozcrawf.

That was a long haul. The puzzle took a while as did the walk to the cache in 33 degrees. Nevertheless TFTC

Nanny & Poppy got my own online account so I can now log this, found with Parkacruz, smileyjims & piknik15 TFTC

16-Nov-18
Found with parkacruz and smileyjims, we had a nice walk along here TFTC

16-Nov-18
A day out with the family by the river so we took the opportunity to perform our signing duties with smileyjims, piknik15, bush_chooks & team_j_dawg after previously solving the puzzle. TFTC

16-Nov-18
Found with @parkacruz and @piknik15 TFTC

A set of coordinates that has been burning a hole in my GPSr for years.

29-Nov-17
I had a bit of time after work today, so headed off to this one to hopefully turn that blue frowny face into a yellow smiley one Wink
Having already found WP1, the other WP's were a breeze thanks to the CO replacing #2. I was soon plugging the finals into the gizmo, and heading off in the hope of a quick find.
GZ was soon upon me, and I was happy to see that I was able to keep my feet dry. The container didn't stay hidden for too long, and I was quickly adding my name to the log. The container had a little water in it (these containers are prone to leak),but the double wrapped logbook was still nice and dry Smile
TFTC and the puzzle Ozcrawf. Nice to finally grab this one [^]

31-May-17
caught up with neva2old here, as she said that she had solved this puzzle with a lot of help from a friend, so as I was present when the signing happened I'm claiming it as well. tftc

31-May-17
a bit of after school caching today with dkla'vk we found your cache and now i have wet feet. Very scary in the long grass. tftc

31-May-17
I found it after some help from a friend. tftc

28-May-17
I needed a bit of help to get started on this one, but all good in the end. So relieved to find a pencil in the final container as I'd set off without a writing implement. The cache was a little wet, after 9 months without a find, but the logbook was in good nick. TFTC Smile

31-Aug-16
Second attempt and ... I've found an Ozcrawf cache!!!
Waypoints found fairly quickly with only the final taking a few minutes, mainly due to it being pretty swampy at present. Found and signed the log in a fairly obvious spot but tucked away. Thanks for getting this one going again. Grabbed the pathtag while here. TFTC.

20-Aug-16
It's been a while since I've been to check on this cache but my son wanted to go for a ride so chose this area so i could check on the WP's and cache. Started with WP2. This was a tough find as it had fallen from its hiding spot but found it in the end. I've put it where it should be a little easier to find. WP3 was easier but I knocked some of the camo off when replacing so should be more obvious than before. The final cache was still in good condition with one of my pathtags still there for the next finder. The final visit was WP1. As usual this took some finding. The part of the camo which kept it on theme has fallen off however the WP is definitely still there.

08-Jul-16
Solved this puzzle about a day after it was released, but as I'm rarely in the area I've never had a go at hunting it down.

Arrived at WP1 and started wadding through the leaf/bark. Used a stick to push it all away, and noticed the coords go flying out of the corner of my eye! [:o] Quickly located them and was off to WP2.

Nice walk around to WP2. Arrived and started my search. Was disturbed by a lady walking her dog, explained the whole geocaching thing to her ... she seemed interested and went on her way.
Spent a good 15min or so here but just couldn't find an coords. Again, plenty of leaf/bark on the ground around the large tree so could be here .. somewhere.

My hit/miss ratio with Ozcrawf puzzles seems to be slowly increasing in the wrong direction. Sad

Will return another day.

16-Mar-16
After having a DNF at WP1 last year, I returned with Jase hoping he would have better luck... Turns out he was very lucky & found the first WP quickly! The luck run out here, as we could not find WP2 Sad. Perhaps we are just not meant to find this one, which is a shame as it was such a great puzzle Smile

26-Aug-15
Having solved this one a long time ago, I was in the area today with a bit of time on my hands, so I thought I would attempt this multi... Unfortunately, I had a 30 minute search at WP1 & was unable to locate info for WP2 Sad

I really enjoyed this puzzle & would have loved to have a smilie here too, but for now I will just watch & see who else can find this tricky one... Thanks Ozcrawf Smile

21-Jan-15
Another epic journey on this very hot day. Found WP2 easily, but at WP3 we found a red clothes hanger bent into an odd shape and wondered whether this had been the cache as we expected it to be hanging. Thank goodness clever MrFWD spotted the real thing which was quite a tricky hide. The final was in a more obvious place, but it still took us a while. TFTC and nice puzzle. We enjoyed a coffee nearby last time but today the place was closed. I wonder why.

18-Jan-15
The coords at WP 2 have now been replaced as has the final cache. The correction that used to have to be applied to the coords found at WP2 no longer applies.

04-Jan-15
After the DNF on WP 2 today I headed out to check on the Wp's and the final location. Unfortunately WP2 has gone missing and more surprisingly so has the final cache. I'll work on getting some temporary WP's and cache in place in the next few weeks and I'll have to try an track down some components to get the cache back to its thematic best.

04-Jan-15
Double disappointment today as we could not find either of two we tried today. Loved the puzzle which I knew straight away. Found WP1 easily in the obvious spot even though the numbers were not easy to see. Headed off to WP2 and spent ages searching but no luck here.

05-Apr-14
And back again today with my brother. Took a while at GZ to decide where and how to walk in. Arrived at what we both had as GZ but couldn't find anything there. We spread out and searched but kept coming back to the one spot which is where Bren spotted the cache. Always a pleasure to follow one of your adventures. TFTC!

05-Apr-14
Returned to WP3 with Dunc after more than a year to find the nicely camouflaged coordinates for the final. We spent several minutes deciding how to approach the GZ, before building up some courage to head in. After spending quite a while searching several locations, I finally caught a glimpse of something familiar. It was great to finally come back and tick this one off the list. TFTC

04-Apr-14
After taking my partner to the airport, I came over here to see the sunrise. It has been over a year since I looked for WP3 so I couldn't remember which stage of metamorphosis I was looking for. Spent about 45 minutes looking and at one point got excited when I saw something in the distant but went a little closer and realised it was where I hung my GPSr. Eventually changed my assumptions and found WP3 within a really short distance of where I had left my GPSr.

Walked to GZ but decided not to head in, avoiding the terrain while on my own but more so avoiding the Council workers nearby. I'll bring reinforcements...

18-Aug-13
Solved this clever little puzzle quite some time ago, and made a concerted effort to try to track it down today. After having found some Ozcrawf caches previously had a good idea of what I should be looking for, but asked a previous finder for some pointers as well, just to have a bit of extra insurance, well needed, too, as it turned out!

Had some competition with a multitude of Mountain bike club cyclists all about the place, but after much searching about the different waypoints finally made it to GZ. Had a few issues with the terrain in places, particularly around GZ, but was able to finally locate the cache. The guardian had flown the coop... found it first, then the cache. So it was with much pleasure that I was able to add my name to the list and tuck it all away safely again. Much mozzie swatting later made it back to the geomobile.

Many thanks for the puzzle, the location and the adventure Ozcrawf.

16-Apr-13
Last of my Ozcrawf DNF's for today , second time I have failed to find the cache at the final loccation, each time my GPSr had me crossing swampy ground and a small creek

20-Jan-13
Solved the puzzle quickly last night after receiving a message from my brother. We headed out early this morning and took only a few minutes to find WP1. Dunc spotted WP2 as soon as we arrived, but we didn't see the note about WP3 and searched the wrong place for about 30 minutes. After reading the note and making the necessary correction, we searched for another 30 minutes without success. We will have to come back again to complete this cache.

20-Jan-13
Finally had a look at this last night, plugged something into google, looked through the results and saw something interesting so honed in on that. Turns out it was right so had it solved quite quickly. And then had a serious case of the muchies.

Had organised to go out with my brother this morning so had him have a look too and we set off early today. Got to waypoint 1 and found what we needed pretty easily. On to waypoint 2 and this was visible as soon as we arrived. Waypoint 3 had us go in circles for ages until at some point I saw this "other waypoints" section on the iPhone app and figured out that we had to change the coords slightly. So off to the south a bit and we spent another half hour looking with no results. Phew! At least we found half of this which is pretty good give the calibre of containers we're used to from the CO. Looking forward to a return visit.

23-Nov-12
Finally got around to finishing this cache off. WP3 had me stumped for a while but once that was located I quickly found the final, hoorah. I ride along the path along the river all the time, it is nice part of the world.

30-Oct-12
I stopped by today to check on WP1. The area where the WP was hidden has been stripped bare, hopefully not by geocachers, and the WP was gone. I had a good search in the area and couldn't find it. I had resigned myself to having to make a new one when I found it a couple of metres from where it should have been. It's now back in place and ready to go.

26-Oct-12
Returned a week later with a hint for what I should be looking for, spent about 15 min searching... but still can't find it. So stuck at WP1 for now.

21-Oct-12
I started this cache today but was left stuck at WP1. Once I had a hint for A nutty tail close by this cache just made sense and after a couple of options I worked out the WP1 co-ordinates that were confirmed with the geochecker. So I took off on my bike to collect a Nutty tail and then onto this one WP1. I searched and searched but couldn't find anything that would lead me to WP2... emailing owner for a hint or advice. Will try again next weekend most probably.

School holiday catch up with friends in Garvey Park. Rode past and logged this find on the way there. Very pleased to eventually track down the beautiful finale. GZ is somewhat swampy at the moment given recent rains. Thanks for the puzzle and adventure Ozcrawf.

02-Sep-12
This cache was quite a challenge in more ways than one, the least of which was the squadron of mozzies guarding GZ. A note to fellow cachers, dusk is not the best time to do this cache. Thanx Ozcraf.

02-Sep-12
While our geo-men were off doing another cache reqiring kayak access, Mrs iluvtrekking and I headed to w/p 1. Made our way through the ensuing w/p's to gz and on spotting the feature thought the find would be in hand quickly. Thought the container was missing as we had checked all the nooks - or so we thought. We had overlooked one previously unnoticed spot which thankfully revealed the novel container -just in time as we were in danger of being carried off by the oversized mozzies guarding the location. Thanks Ozcrawf for a challenging puzzle.

23-Jul-12
Make it today - finally find WP1 - good one - FelixII come and rescue me and we together walk around this area - cute camo - excellent one - Enjoyed myself - left pathtag and signed the log. Thanks Ozcrawf.

23-Jul-12
Yep was heading into Kings Park to find out 'What on Earth' was going on with my caches.

when got an SOS from Everlasting.

Made the slight detour and took a while but we located WPT 2 on in the long reeds a few metres from where he should have been.

The rest of the cache was all in good order. Replaced WPT 2 where I found it the first and second time I did this cache (yep today was the third time!)

Hmmm I will be doing this one in my sleep soon! LOl... Wink

Some of the tracks are very wet and muddy at the moment. We walked a bit further to avoid them or up and around the edges.

Cant see Stage 1 "Centered on a large tree." will email. Thanks.

19-May-12
I needed a hint for this puzzle (a rather big hint) - I was way off the markSad
Today we had it on our list to find and the first waypoint was soon discovered (beautifully done I might add). Not long after we had the second waypoint and made our way to the third.
This is where we came a little unstuck - we had not read about the correction so spent a while searching at the wrong spot and it wasn't until our search proved fruitless that we resorted to reading the logs etc.
When we made the correction we knew from the logs that it still wasn't going to be easy - and it wasn't. BUT eventually Mr AusTrackers spied what we were after and with great relief we were able to proceed to GZ.

Another fabulous puzzle and hunt Ozcrawf - we love the way you keep to theme.
Thanks for the puzzle and the hunt. Smile

After spending hours searching google and trying various different things, nothing got the okay from the checker, although some answers looked quite good. I even went out one afternoon and walked about the entire area to see if I could fluke anything, but nothing eventuated.

I finally asked for a hint from a previous finder, and it turned out to be something I had heard of from my sister-in-law, but had never looked at before. So, I soon had the coords for WP1 in hand.

Today I came out for a nice afternoon walk, and managed to find all of the waypoints and final cache. Well done on all the hides, something different at each one.

Thanks for the puzzle and the cache Ozcrawf!

Munched and crunched my way through this and added a couple of red faces before I became aware of what it was all about. Doh. I love the resource and still have it.

I located the first WP and Machman was too quick for me at the rest.

Loved the puzzle and top effort on the topical WP's. Loved it.

Out on a "Puzzle Cache" run with McFonz and Felix II.

We had a list of Puzzle Solutions due the varying degrees of hard work from the different team members, so today was about picking up the Caches.

The multi element of this Cache was great, a pleasant riverside stroll and picking up some creative and challenging WP's as we went.

Found the final no problems. Good combination Cache.

Many thanks.

Out doing solved puzzles with MCFONZ & The Machman

Nasty I know, but I made the boys do this cache for themselves!

Only playing hotter/ colder at WPT3.

They solved the puzzle and found all the other points without any hints at all.

Mozzies were way more friendly here today than I remembered previously!

06-Apr-12
Was at the airport for an early drop off so I decide to grab the opportunity to do a couple this end of town.

This one was a challenge as I noted in my DNF log. WP3 killed me - I would not have got it without some help. The final was a quick hop and a skip away but could be nasty once the rains come. Enjoyed the thematic waypoints and the item needed to solve the puzzle is a classic - our kids loved it 15 years ago.

So.... Solved the puzzle soon after it was published and dropped by today while in the area. It was my last planned cache for the trip back home from the orienteering at Mt Billy.

I found the first waypoint straight away, literally in seconds. Headed off to the second wp having had a quick look at the park on google earth on the phone.

No problems spotting this thematically appropriate item. I did the maths to add the correction and headed for wp3.

And ran into a brick wall. No joy here despite a careful search of the several trees in the area. Unfortunately I could not persist for too long - I was already overdue back home by about 2 hours so I decide to call it a day. Will be back another time.

08-Mar-12
Well you have the DNF log to know how the first visit and the puzzle fell into place.

Off to a few Wizard of Oz caches to keep me sane. Whilst out and about got chatting to a Geo buddy who encouraged me to have another go at this one.

Hmmm on arrival of my 2nd visit would you believe there was the waypoint on top out in the open? Did I uncover it like that or has someone else been?

Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I quickly wrote down the info, covered it a little and headed off the 400mts nominated to WPT2. Well when you take the zigzag to follow the path and the bridge that would be at least 600mts in 32degrees (but armed with a frozen fanta now)

A very quick find of the marker at WPT2 had me thinking this was going to be much easier than I had been dreading.

Alas unstuck again at WPT3. Came to a grinding halt at a sign that advised revegetation in progress. So after much head scratching and stamping of my feet it was out with the phone and a little chat with MDV who said have you read the note for WPT3? Dah what note? Add 12 to the Southing! Oh!

Well at least 30mins at this waypoint if not more before I finally had the right angle to see the masterpiece.

Mosquitoes had decided that I was toasty and tasty by now so they were honing in on me! Off to GZ it was a little closer than I expected so I actually walked away then returned and re-read the co-ords to make sure I had the minutes correct! [:o)]

On arrival at GZ, I was presented with one of those old cache conundrums. If it was my cache where would I put it. Trees had the GPS going in circles. I decided on a GZ, but somehow I had a note from another cache imprinted in my mind which was completely incorrect and was searching in all the wrong places.

I was finally about to give up and leave and as happens so often I found the pretty cache!

I think of my 5 hours spent on this cache puzzle time and traipse/hunt time my fave is WPT2. Maybe we just need to hire some little tikes/junior geocachers to have a better feel for some of this stuff? Any offers?

So after spending 3 hours working on the puzzle on the day of release and emailing 2 other cachers (far more experience at puzzles than us) We had gone backwards and had absolutely no idea of where to go with this puzzle.

So Mrs Felix emailed the CO to check if we were remotely going the right way?

Then Mr Felix came home and discussion ensued and he sent us off on another track, which actually was way closer than we had been previously but still on completely the wrong level. A reply from the CO came by email and the puzzle was put aside we had absolutely NO IDEA and neither did our caching puzzle buddies.

A further email to another of our puzzle friends later in the evening but no ideas were forthcoming. The next day this puzzle friend sent a reply which initially meant absolutely nothing to us, but Mr Google sent us looking.

Finally after 3+ hours and at least 15 red/sad faces on the geo checker we were armed with some co-ords for WPT1.

Mrs Felix grabbed 3 hours sleep after night shift and then headed on out. Had ideas of what to look for after another cache where she threw the WPT away!!!

But with 100's of pieces to look at, it was time to abandon the search after 20mins. Off to find another.

made no sense at first but it niggled away at me....got an idea st work and narrowed it down using google. Grabbed aerogard and batteries for headlamp and rode to GZ from work. Awesome spot to cache at night.
Great puzzle Ozcrawf thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.

JOINT FTF bindel_ and blob_ at 5:35
Well this took a while.
bindel_ (the recently married couple) and I recived the notification about this cache and originally thought we wouldn't be able to FTF it as we were on our way back from Denmark. We were stopped at the time in kojonup and decided to try crack the puzzle any way so we headed over to the library across the road and within minutes of being on the computer we had solved it
After a long and painfully trip home hoping no one else would solve it we got to the first part and knew we had done it
After a short leisurely stroke we found the final and were extremly relived to find out we were the FTFs
Very Happy

06-Mar-12
We (the bindels and blob) were traveling back from Denmark and had stopped for lunch in kojonup. Mrs Bindel checked her emails and saw this cache had been published. Great! A puzzle to work on on the way home. We dropped into the kojonup library, which had a computer, to do a bit of research. We quickly found that the original hunch was correct, no more puzzle solving to pass the time. Sad But we eagerly watched the red frowns clocking up to at least 60 with no extra green smiles. The 4 waypoints were great, it didn't take long to realise what we were looking for and were happy to be joint FTFs at 5:35pm after a 250km journey to retrieve after solving. Thanks ozcrawf!

Placing trackables ready for the launch of this cache.
