Logs
Found @ 12.30pm on our summer camp tour
Decided to spend an extra night at New Pelion hut and climb Mt Oakleigh. What a view up here the weather was fantastic and enjoyed our lunch over looking the pillar.
Cache was found with out any trouble, but as stated by Co the cache in need of TLC had a micro log with me but really needs a new container & writing implement, I find in this environment double boxing is the best thing to do
Muchas gracias mi amigo
Cheers ♡

In need of maintenance. If any upcoming folk are attempting this please come prepared with replacement log sheet, plastic bag, etc. I will get there when I can . Thanks (in anticipation) Melvilla.
I just noticed I never logged my find from March!
I climbed Mount Oakleigh on my 50th birthday as part of my OT trip. It bucketed rain on the way down, but the views from the top (before the rain) were amazing!
The cache is definitely in need of repair. I was unable to sign the log, but have enclosed some pictures to prove I was there. Other than that, it was a quick find in a beautiful location.
Thanks for adding to a great experience on the trail- favorite point for you!

We did this cache as part of the OT and it was a great find with magnificent views of the spires.
Cache is waterlogged.
Thanks for this awesome cache.

A trip was planed with my mum for a multi day hike up the arm river track and into pelion hut. A great few days. On the first day we walked in and then made our way up the mountain to collect this cache. well the top is not the top when we realised that we still had 1km of walking to the summit. The cache was easily spotted but the cache was full of water and unable to be signed, I did not carry any spare stuff to change or replace the cache sorry.

Been trying to get up here for a while now, finally the weather was in our favour. Well worth the effort. Did this as a side trip, walking a 6 day loop from Lee's Paddocks, via part of the overland track & back through the Never Never, Lakes Meston & Myrtle to the car park. TFTC
Decided to climb Mt Oakleigh on the morning of day 4 of the Overland track. As a side trip we didn’t have our big rucksacks which was great. The views and spires from the top are spectacular and well worth the effort. Took us about 3 1/2 hours all up. As the cache had not been found for over 2 years I suspect lots of people skip this mountain but my advice is don’t. Cache all fine and surprisingly easy to find considering the number of rocks around.
Today was designated rest day - of which our planned options were to 1. Stay at camp and relax all day or 2. Head back to Old Pelion Hut for a Swim if the weather is good, or 3. Climb Mt Oakleigh 1386m 8km return – 4 -6hrs return.
Unfortunately Mt Oakleigh was shut due to fires on the otherside, so I decided to put my feet up and relax with a swim at Douglas Creek and some fossil finding
Perhaps next time I'm in the area.

We climed Mt Oakleigh on day 3 while completing the overlander track what a view from the top certinally worth the treck over the muddy boggy trail at times. One member of our party took a wrong step and went down to his hips that certinally tested his new gaters out. The swim in the creek on the way back to the hut soothed the legs and washed most of the mud off. TFTC.
As Stealth, Chip, Gronk and I were spending 12 days walking in the area, we were planning on climbing to find this cache. However sadly the weather Gods were against us today, and we did not even leave the Hut, deciding instead upon a rest day. Oh well, just an excuse to come back really!

We walked in from the Arm river and camped on the way at Tarn of Islands. All up it took us over 7 hours to reach the end of the plateau. As we got near we did wonder if there was a geocache here; but thought that fairly unlikely. We should have checked this before coming on the trip because after arriving back home it was discovered that in fact there was a cache. Oh bother! and we didn't even think to try the geocache app on the phone.
Day three of the Overland Track and we walked from Windermere Hut to New Pelion Hut, then dropped off our packs, bagged a bunk and headed off up Mount Oakleigh. It was boggy in places at the bottom and we managed one wet foot each! Then it was a steady climb up to the top and around to look down on the spires. It was an amazing view, especially from GZ, so thanks for encouraging us to go there. The suspension bridge was fun too. A favourite cache.
This must be the most remote cache I ever logged. We climbed Mt. Oakleigh on the most beautiful day of our Overland track on a day trip from Pelion campsite. Awesome views, thanks for placing a cache here!
Day four of our south to north overland. Magic day and a magic view. Found easily and another perspective of the view over here.
Left Windermere hut earlyish on Day 3 of the OT and arrived at New Pelion at lunch time. The morning's blue skies had given way to cloud but the cloud level was high enough to leave the summit and spires of Oakleigh clear and no rain was threatening, so I made the trip to the summit and was rewarded with fantastic views and another FTF! A well deserved 5 stars for the terrain.
