Came to get this cache today with tmann421. As he is a previous finder he was aware of what needed to be done so we came very prepared.Quickly found what we were looking for and soon had the container in hand. All good with the log, all nice and drySigned tm/ww NZTFTC

20-May-24
Today, we needed to get outside and go for a good bike ride. We spied a couple of caches - both of which had a field puzzle aspect to them. This was our first. Found the container at the published coordinates no trouble. Worked out where we needed to go and what was required. Once at GZ, the younger viper did all the work, while the not so young viper was on liquid maintenance duties. Wasnt too long before a wave of spiders and crickets emerged just before the cache popped up. Signed the log and replaced everything just the way it was. Such a cool cache! One of our favourite few for sure. So, 100% gets a favourite point from us. Thanks TNXPro

25-Apr-24
Finally managed to sign the log on my fourth visit to this hide. I have not yet managed to find the apparatus needed as it is very difficult to get to. But thanks to a variety of other means, we worked out what was required and returned today with appropriate TOTT. After two trips, and some teamwork(including dislodging a stuck container), out popped the prize. Finally! Thanks for the cache!

09-Mar-24
So much fun with two boys who were fascinated also by the big eel

09-Mar-24
What a clever cache! Our two grandsons loved doing it and spotting the eels!

26-Feb-24
As noted below, the cache has been maintained to make it easier to extract and the log replaced. Please let me know through a write note if this needs attention in the future. Thank you so much Mermaid.Man for helping me out with the maintenance of this cache. I am most grateful and appreciate the effort in keeping my favorite cache in good working condition.

25-Feb-24
By arrangement with the CO (who no longer lives in Kapiti), I have called around to the cache and given it a little bit of love. I must say that I enjoyed my visit every bit as much as when I found it ten years ago.Everything worked well with the cache for me. Everything needed to retrieve the cache is provided on site and the retrieval method worked as intended.I wonder if the previous visitor had perhaps poured from the wrong end as that would explain their lack of success. The logsheet was very wet and so I have replaced the final container and added a fresh logsheet.I found the initial container quite hard and frustrating to remove and replace. It is teathered in place, and so I have moved the anchoring point a short distance (just a few inches) to make it a little easier. This is a great cache and I'm pleased to have played my part to keep it in tip-top condition. I'll keep the cache on my watchlist in case any issues arise with it.

Found pipe, but didnt find cache as we poured water in the end and it overflowed on the other, but no cache was floated out. Logging as a note because a DNF wouldn't make sense in this instance but we hadn't found the log so cant log as a find. TFTC

22-Oct-23
**19,148**This was an awesome cache, from start to finish, we totally enjoyed it. Mr Geckoh did the running back and forwards which was fun to watch. The bunyip worked a charm and we soon had the cache in hand. Added in an extra log sheet as the log was mushy. Thanks for an awesome cache, well deserving of another favourite point. TFTC

13-Jul-23
Nice spot. Muddy in winter

04-Jun-23
Found the second part but couldn’t find the first so hand to use our own TOTT but too wet to sign

18-Dec-22
My first ever find. Took me a couple of goes to work out how to access the cache, but got there in the end!

11-Dec-22
Couldn't find the required tools, but a quick trip back to the car to improvise. And we found it! Thanks for the awesome cache

02-Sep-22
Finally completed this about 5 years after my last attempt! Took my own tools, and discovered it's now home to a weta, which crawled out after my treatment, sitting on top of the cache container; logsheet is wet. While signing the log, a baby weta crawled out from underneath - I have a photo of that too, but it would give away the location!

07-Aug-22
Not able to find the cache today. Will return in summer when there’s less water about.

16-Jan-22
Took a while to find. First thought container must have been flooded away a couple of months ago as stream came over bank. But no there it was! Easy to figure out what to do for the second part. A great innovative cache. Will give it a FP.
Thanks for placing it in a lovely reserve I never knew existed.

26-Nov-21
Back today armed with extra equipment. After a pointer from the CO, I now see what I missed the first visit. Still several visits needed to the stream in order to extract cache. All signed and returned to original setup. Putting together a string of multis on consecutive days to fulfill a challenge. Today number six of ten. All good, tftc!

23-Nov-21
I have checked the cache today and all the necessary equipment is contained in the container you found. I suggest you return for another look.

I retrieved the cache/log successfully using only the equipment on site and the log is dry

16-Nov-21
I'm unsure what equipment was in the container at WP1, but it's not there now, simply a carabiner with a ring on it. I secured the final coordinates, though, and will return with the necessary items to extract the cache.

17-Nov-20
I visited the cache today and recovered the log container which had indeed been put back in the wrong end of the tube.
Future finders, please be careful how you put the final back together and ensure the log container is replaced in the right end.

26-Oct-20
I think the cache is now in the wrong end and it won’t pop up. It was still very fun.

29-Aug-20
I’ve been caching for 9 years, and this is the best cache I’ve done in a long time. Thoroughly recommended. I enjoyed everything immensely. I was almost stopped at the first hurdle by my arms, however, due to a loooong reach. Made it in the end with no trouble, and left smiling from ear to ear. TFTC

21-Aug-20
Quite possibly one of my favorite caches ever! Such a clever hide

14-Jun-20
A clever well thought out cache in a lovely area. Thanks for the fun experience at both stages TNZPro!

13-May-20
Thanks for not finding me during the lockdown.

27-Mar-20
Due to Covid19, and to encourage people to "stay at home" to prevent spreading the virus, I am joining others in temporarily disabling my caches. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THIS CACHE.

22-Mar-20
Well, this cache has been on my list almost since I started caching, but for one reason or another I'd never got around to attempting it. It was on the radar for the 29th Feb, but we ran out of time. Good thing too, as it would have been 'interesting to say the least' in the dark!

Today I'd done a dash up the coast to drop off shopping and try and talk some sense into my Mum, who feels the requirement for over 70's to stay put is a personal affront. After placating her by doing some gardening (at a safe distance), I looked to see what caches were nearby, and remembered this one...

A short drive later, I was at WP1. The required items took a bit of spotting, and a fair bit to retrieve, then it was off to WP2 where I took a bit to work out exactly what was required. Got there in the end, and was treated to the sight of a replacement log (now duly signed).

However, the hardest part was yet to come, and It took me several tries before I was able to replace the equipment, and leave it as I found it.

Simple, yet brilliant, and a FP duly awarded.

28-Dec-19
Arrived in an otherwise deserted reserve to find a muggle sitting on the seat by WP1
with her (friendly) dog nearby.
She asked me if I knew that the path was a dead end so I said thanks for letting me know and I would walk to the end and back anyway. As I had hoped she had gone by the time I got back, but unfortunately I couldn't find the needed things at WP1 anywhere I felt safe attempting.
I still enjoyed visiting this lovely reserve so thanks for bringing me here.
I wished I had brought a picnic lunch as it would have been a great spot to sit and enjoy it!

29-Sep-19
now that I'm a premium member I am able to award favourite points, so I'm awarding some to the more memorable and enjoyable caches that I've found, added a favourite point for this one

24-Sep-19
Soggy log has been replaced.

21-Sep-19
I have found a few quality TNXPro caches previously so, when they say this is their favourite, I had to take notice. I would like to say more but can't without potentially spoiling it for others. However, I will say there was more than one occasion when I had to use more brainpower than I normally do when out caching. The only aspect that wasn't perfect was the state of the logsheet which is nearing the end of its useful life and could do with replacing soon. It was a very simple decision to relinquish a favourite point here.

16-Jun-19
What an awesome cache! Love everything about this one (although claiming the first container was tricky at first) but once claimed all made sense of what to do. TFTC

04-Mar-19
That was fun! As has been mentioned, it’s abit hard to get to, lucky I had YetNZ with me to help. We had a great time working this one out. TFTC

28-Feb-19
Lot's of fun dealing with this very cleverly constructed cache - good thing I'm one of the tall cachers. All safe and dry(ish) here. TFTC.

23-Dec-18
Biking in the area, so swapped TBs.

18-Dec-18
Quick note to say I’ve dropped a trackable in the first stage of this cache. Final too small to hold anything!

20-Nov-18
Visited today to drop off a Duck Tales trackable that I brought back from Hawaii.

As the trackable won't fit into the final I've left it in the initial container for this cache.

17-Nov-18
Wow! This is an awesome cache - so clever. The girls said it is their favourite one so far and had lots of fun doing it. Definitely a favourite point from us. TFTC.

30-Oct-18
Spent the weekend in Wellington attending the Mega and finding heaps of caches. As I flew down I missed doing the maintenance run with the CO but I really wanted to do at least one of Tnxpro caches while down here so asked Philip.Perry which cache he recommended and this was the cache. I had read the cache page in preparation which is something I dont normally do but was advised this would help.
Arrived at GZ and retrieved the tools needed to access the cache and followed the instructions with the CO watching me to see how an amateur cacher accessed the cache. What a cool cache and like Philip.Perry I asked why we dont have a cache like this in the BOP hopefully the CO finds an appropriate place in the bay for a cache like this.
FP awarded.

19-Oct-18
It’s Day 2 of our 2018 WENZ MEGA crusade and Team BOP are on their way to Wellington.

We'd organised to spend last night in Waikanae - TNXPros old stomping ground and me being the kind, selfless friend that I am - have made myself available to accompany TNXPro on a maintenance run of his caches.

This was a real treat in fact the first thing I asked is "Why don't we have one of these in Tauranga?" I benefitted from a little CO advice for expedience sake but all up it worked perfectly and was a really fun cache. It felt more like a field puzzle then a multi but rules are rules and I'd definitely recommend people getting to this one. Reading the cache page carefully is a must and having a second person would be helpful too. Happy to spend a favourite point here, cheers Dave. TFTC Smile

18-Oct-18
On the way to the Mega 2018, while travelling with Philip.Perry.
I checked on this once P.P made the find. All works well still, thanks to my personal cache caretaker.

01-Sep-18
Found this great cache with the help of TwigNZ, TFTC.

01-Sep-18
I've had my eye on this one for a while now, as it had a D/T combination I needed for me to qualify for a Challenge Cache up in Auckland. I just needed an excuse to come down and have a go for it. Today was that day, so after a cruisy morning the lad and I hit the road to make the most of the 1 good weather day forecast for the weekend.

So arriving at WP1, it took a while to locate and free the item intended to aid us. Luckily enough, I was wearing clothing I didn't care too much about, as otherwise I would be less than happy as to how far in I had to reach to retrieve it.

The given co-ords enabled me to locate the Bunyip, and then it was a case on me doing a pretty good impression of the little Dutch boy whilst the lad did the fetching and pouring. It took him a while but I was eventually rewarded with the cache popping up as it was intended to.

All was well with the cache. The logsheet was dry so it was quickly signed and then everything was replaced exactly as found ready for the next finder.

Thanks for the clever cache, for which I've awarded a FP.

23-Apr-18
Just awesome! Kids really enjoyed this one, took us a while to figure out, a few heads are better than one! Quite surprised more people don't do this one, it was great. Cache in very good condition, nice and dry.

02-Apr-18
After the previous log, my cache caretaker checked up on this and confirms everything is still in place for the find. As it hasnt been visited for a while, it may take a few tries to get the cache to pop up.
Please remember to replace cache as found (downstream end). If you werent the person who found it, ask the finder where to return it.

02-Dec-17
I couldn't find anything at all at WPt1 to get me started? What am I missing?? I searched for anything that could possibly be anything, but no joy - very confused!

Attempt #2: after being told WP1 was there, I spent more time looking - found eventually - I don't see a method of retrieval other than crawling through the dust and dirt, so choose your clothing appropriately! A repetitive procedure then occurred, took a while, but once overflowing, only water appeared - so lots of mud but no final cache. Can't really recommend this experience!

10-Oct-16
Wet log has been replaced. Seems the previous cacher but one put the cache back together the wrong way which explains why last cacher though it wasn't working properly!!

Log container lives in the downriver end.... please!

07-Oct-16
Found with Road Runner. A very creative hide. Took a while to get canister out as the metal attaching it was blocking the canister from reaching the top. Got it out eventually but log was very wet and just managed to sign. TFTC.

04-Sep-16
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Have done one similar which helped. Thanks very much for setting up and maintaining this very clever cache. Contents all good and dry.

28-Aug-16
Had a lot of fun finding this one, definitely my favourite cache so far! Bringing the family along made this much easier Smile

25-Apr-16
Saw that this was up and running again and seeing as we were back in the area we had to come back for another go. Today the supplies were easily collected at WP1 and we made our way to WP2. We quickly worked out was was required and were pleased we had extra pairs of hands at this point. After a couple of false starts we had the cache in hand, lucky the logbook was drier than what Mama Bears legs and feet had become and easily signed. Thanks for a great cache, it earns a favourite point from us.

19-Apr-16
TOTT have been replaced and cache is ready to be found. Once again, a big thank you to Bunkshyde for running repairs.

19-Apr-16
All ready to go again.

05-Apr-16
Sadly the WP1 container for this multi has gone missing. I have checked all around the area but there's no sign of it. Work is underway to rebuild WP1 as soon as possible. In the meantime it will be taken offline.

05-Apr-16
Required tools have gone missing. Disabling this until my friendly maintenance crew run some repairs. Thanks Bunkshyde once again.

27-Mar-16
Unfortunately another DNF for us today. We made our way to WP1 where we looked high and low, under and over, in between and around, but unfortunately that's where it ended for us as we were unable to locate the tools required to make it to WP1. There has been some recent clearing and planting in the area so maybe a muggle has found it, or maybe we just didn't bring our geocaching mojo. We will watch with interest to see if others have more luck and try again another day.

25-Dec-15
Very clever!! I love it so much! TFTC
Find it Found it

23-Dec-15
This was a beautiful little stop en route to wellington, lots of birds, a gentle walk and numerous trips to and from the bridge to stretch our legs. All it lacked was getting our hands on the actual log!

WP 1 was found quickly, WP 2 hunted out and we got the idea, followed the instructions carefully but couldn't get a log to surface. Sad The Hambrook Hunter girls are solo on a camping trip and we've been very independent with pitching tents and loading cars. ... but I did wish MrHH was here to lend his more practical advice to this one.

28-May-15
Big thanks to bunkshyde, who has managed to repair this so its working again for the long weekend.

28-May-15
Its all good to go again.

03-May-15
Sadly I discovered today that the second part of this amazing cache has been significantly destroyed. I will attend to repairs later in the month when I am back in the country. Am in contact with the owner. I have removed stage 1 of this cache from the original coordinates to prevent people getting halfway through the cache before discovering it's destroyed.

A curse on whoever did this damage. You are not a nice person!

03-May-15
Unfortunately this seems to have been damaged. Fortunately, I have a very friendly cacher looking after it and hopefully can repair this at his convenience. Thanks Peter.

05-Apr-15
We'd been looking at this one for a while so made time for it today. Our last cache of the afternoon and it certainly didn't disappoint. We learned a great deal from the description and the layout of the cache was superb. Tftc and a FP from us Smile

Cache # 2,395 - Did this today with Violet Butterfly, Astro Hunter and Mrs. Dragon. Been waiting for a chance to do it with them, as it appeared we needed more than one set of hands. Not quite, the whole cache is cleverly set up. Hardest part was finding the first way point, and then lots of fun after that. Definitely worth a favourite point. Cache in great shape. TFTC!

03-Apr-15
Did today with The Wandering Dragons and Astro Hunter. Loved it! Thanks.

Cache # 956

03-Apr-15
A fantastic expedition on this Good Friday. Did with Violet Butterfly and the Wandering Dragons. Thank you!

Cache # 415

07-Mar-15
Had a couple of days staying in Paraparaumu and manged to get quite a lot of caching time. Fair bucketing down for a good portion of both days - hence some very very short logs in an attempt to keep the logs as dry as possible! Thanks for the caches, neat area to cache in.
Most memorable cache of the weekend, favourite point form me!

Wow so much fun

10-Feb-15
Very clever indeed. So enjoyable

18-Jan-15
Very cleaver. Couldn't get the coordinates on my phone but geo daughter t00 found it easily. TFTC!

31-Dec-14
This is a great cache, we really enjoyed it. We are familiar with these water levels having used them a lot for projects arounds the house but I didn't know they were called bunyips. Thanks for your effort in creating this cache and Happy New Year!

26-Dec-14
One of the best caches I've done, thanks heaps for going to the effort of setting it up. Giving an obvious favourite and surprised it doesn't have more.

Cache page was also interesting, i never knew any of this previously. TFTC TNXPro, #7308

26-Dec-14
Checked up on this today. Everything working as intended.

06-Dec-14
Did this one with team geocacher Mr. T. Quite a fun cache to do. A very nice reserve to visit, lots of hard work has gone into the plantings by the volunteers. Thanks for placing this cache here and all the effort that went into setting it up.

08-Nov-14
What a great cache a favorite one for sure.

Tftc

01-Nov-14
What a good cache!!!!! In a beauty of a spot too!!!

19-Oct-14
Tftc. This was good fun to do. Thanks for the effort of putting it together.

11-Oct-14
I have been dying to get to this one for a while now and it sure was worth the wait! If you haven't done ***The Bunyip*** yet, then I highly recommend that you do asap. A very well thought out and put together entertaining little adventure. Hats off to the CO TNXPro. Very very well done, best I've seen so far! SLTFTC

11-Oct-14
This was an extremely fun cache to do, had the family eager to join in and laughing the whole way along the smalll adventure, great cache!! TFTC and a good time!

27-Sep-14
Found this one a few weeks ago and forgot to log. Did with tmann421 while netting a few in the area that day. Enjoyed the challenge of this one and great feeling to finally get my hands on the cache. Worthy of a favourite for sure. TFTC

28-Aug-14
TFTC Found at 5:14 pm . After not finding the cache on the other side of the road it was a bonus to find this cache so fast!

I work as a volunteer in Greendale Reserve so I will keep an eye on this cache...and the other one if I ever find it!'

Found final stage ok and worked out how to recover log.

Sadly logbook is sodden. I will remove it and dry it out and replace when I get a chance. I will also put some petroleum jelly on the thread to try and keep things dry.

Very clever cache!

27-Jul-14
We got to the 1st waypoint and could not find the tools, but hubby found the 2nd waypoint easily and then we had to work out how to retreive the cache.
All I am saying is that in the end we thought that we had worked it out very well, cache was retreived, log signed (log dry, but pages are sticking together), trousers dirty, straight into the washing machine when we get back.
A definite favourite given for the hard work that was put into setting up this cache.
Thanks for the cache

23-Jun-14
Good fun, very inventive!! Log is falling apart. TFTC

11-Jun-14
Enjoyed doing your multi-cache done this kind but this had abit more to it SL placed every thing back in place, the log was a little bit damp but all working good TFTC TNXPro 1+Fav

22-Feb-14
great cache but got jammed free now [^]

30-Jan-14
Done it before but couldn't resist doing it again. The 1st container had been opened and the bits everywhere but we found them all and reset it. The actual cache did the right thing. No spiders were harmed Wink

22-Jan-14
great fun!

07-Jan-14
Checked up on this. I have found that the resident spiders can block things up a bit, so if nothing appears as/when it should, it might benefit with poking a stick down to clear the cobwebs carefully. Or you can blow through the pipe slowly (but dont suck!)

01-Dec-13
Such great fun! I wish I had my nephew with me - he absolutely loves these types of caches. I found an extra item on the ground near the Bunyip. I added it to the container - could be useful as spare. Thanks for a very well put together cache!

30-Nov-13
12629…

Enjoyed our stroll to unveil the Bunyip, many thanks for the fun multiBig Grin.

20-Oct-13
Best cache I've done so far. Very ingenious. WP1 was easy to find but WP2 took us some time. Only spotted by Airyshone by accident. Getting the cache out was excellent fun. Some very unimpressed spiders met their end!

20-Oct-13
Such a great cache. The best I have seen. Beware retrieving the tools, especially after rain as can be slippery. Found with KateNZ

10-Aug-13
Great fun, much discussion amongst the team about the methodology required but we finally got there. One of the more interesting of this type of cache we have seen.

TFTC

25-Jul-13
Down for a visit to check on my caches. Once the cobwebs were blown out, everything happened as it should.

16-Feb-13
Brilliant! The kids and I had great fun with this one. Took us awhile to work it all out but got there in the end with a bit of fun and games along the way including son managing to get his shoes very wet!! TFTC Cool

28-Jan-13
Jimbob Jr now has his own account, so we are logging this cache which he found with his dad, Jimbob999. Tftc!

21-Jan-13
OMG awesome cache found yesterday had to bring hubby back today

06-Jan-13
Given the weather today, I could've used my own sweat in place of water...but it was still slightly quicker to use the water at hand. Excellent cache! Always enjoy something this entertaining. Required a couple of trips back and forth but got there eventually. Was fun to figure out what each part was for. TFTC!!

04-Jan-13
Please help maintain this cache, as I have now left Kapiti.

01-Jan-13
Very entertaining. Thanks very much.
