Lovely Sunday drive - even tho is is only Saturday morning! Out with muggle sister, showing her the back way into the Granite Belt.

We had already started the Pike series a few weeks ago, so started at #7 then continued...

I love a sun burnt country... easy find, but it was wedged in the fork - and it had been so long for this lonely cache to be found that that tree had started to take posession. Took two of us to be able to retrieve it.

Thanks Team Robins

After a long anticipated 4 day hike in NSW, that was originally planned for this week, had to be abandoned because of the border closures, Crookedpete, JezNDez and I rearranged the week to start with a hike along the Stretcher Track and end with an extended weekend hiking in Giraween.

Leaving Brisbane early Friday morning to avoid any peak hour traffic, our first stop was for coffee and some breakfast in Warwick before heading on towards Stanthorpe.

Back in 2015 Crookedpete and I, in company with Swellerfungus, ventured down this road in search of the myriad of cached that used to be littered along here but this was not one of the ones I targeted on that occasion. In preparation for this trip I noted that it had been over 12 months since the last find here so I made sure that it was added to our itinerary. A short search of the area and were soon signing our names in the logbook. TFTC

17-May-19
It was a good caching day today and we picked up some more smiley faces for our map, along with ilook4geo. We found more caches in a few different series and only had one DNF to spoil the day. Each of the caches had the log signed, usually as GP2 and ilg. Each container was then put back into place as it had been found.
This was another cache container that was badly damaged, so it too was replaced with a pill bottle and all contents were transferred.
Our thanks go to Team Robins for placing this cache and adding to the fun of the game.

17-May-19
Caching along mostly very quiet country roads today with goingplaces2 gave a really good result for the day. Logs were signed, caches were put back and we were soon headed off to the next find.
Another one that we replaced as it was badly broken.
Thanks for this cache.

TFTC! This one was found easy enough. Thank you, however I believe the container will need replacing soon enough though?

This morning we started caching at the junction of the New England Highway and Pikedale Road and during the day, we gradually worked our way south into Palgrave Road, Loloma Road and Mount Janet Road. We started at about 8:45am and finished the caches on our list as the sun set. We enjoyed the variety of caches and the scenery along the way.

Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Team Robins for the cache.

At Stanthorpe tackling the trail for this weekends geocaching adventures with chasing adventure and hinds_xo. Tftc and bringing us to an awesome place that I've never been before. And most of all thanks to these two amazing ladies for bringing me here for my bday weekend. Memories that would defs last a lifetime. Couldn't thank you guys enough for being with me on my bday weekend. Lots of love

27-Aug-16
A wonderful weekend away in Stanthorpe resulting in 374 finds, including 22 mystery (Stanthorpe Apple) and 1 Earthe cache. I hoped to log each individually as I usually would but the tyranny of time prevents me from continuing to try and achieve this goal. A big thank you to all the Stanthorpe CO's. We said many times we wish we had more consolidated trails in Brisbane. TFTC Smile

Mitchie mentioned that for her birthday she'd like to go caching in Stanthorpe - so Elly and I made sure her wish came true and here we are! We didn't really have a clear goal in mind, just to do as many as possible until we stopped having fun! And we achieved that, so mission accomplished! We took more photos than we found caches, and collected some memories to last a lifetime. Thank you for taking the time to place and maintain these caches.

We took notes on all geocaches as we went (container, location, landmarks, time, temp, ect.), so if all was good, and we had a quick easy find, this is what you'll see. Otherwise unique logs will used Smile

The area has all been cleaned and cleared where they put in the new fence. We found the cache beside the road. I put it back where I think it should go, but I am not sure that it is the right place. TFTC!

29-Feb-16
Unfortunately I couldn't find this one today. Not many places around to hide one and with the new fence that has been erected I figured it must have been muggled or maybe it's still there and I just couldn't see it.
Either way,hopefully next time.
Thanx anyway TR

We set aside today to challenge ourselves to find at least 150 caches in a day. Before last Mega in Stanthorpe, we had cleared the middle section of the AS Series, so this challenge meant starting at the bottom, then later moving to the top section, then back down the highway towards Stanthorpe until our target was reached. Apologies for this generic log: unless noted below the caches were in good order and available for future hunters - in some cases this meant stopping awhile longer to replace a log, and/or clean out the cache.

Found at 8:29am on 8th December, 2015. TFTC.

I had driven down from Brisbane for a quick day out caching. The idea to grab as many as i can along the power trails here. The day turned into a mission, with my GPS deciding to impersonate a brick, leaving me to use the phone, so lots of missed caches and backtracking. Great day out, lots of caches, sun, Kangaroos, sun, other flora, sun and more caches. Thanks for putting in the trail.

We are back for the 3rd and final day of this trip to find some of the Caches on these power trails. Thanks to all the CO's for the tremendous efforts in creating them. Well done. We apologise again for the generic logs.

23-Jul-15
Ah a power trail, this is what we are here for , to test a Router out, we ended with 126 caches found, 1 DNF in 6hrs 22minutes we started first cache in hand at 8.40am and the last cache was at 3.02pm
So sorry this log is cut and paste but we remember every cache
Thanx heaps to all cache placers, fine effort by all
we will be back

23-May-15
A target of 200 finds for the day meant an early start so we were up at 3:30am. Crookedpete, Seffnjarah and I got to our first cache by 4:25 on the A.S trail. We finished the day after 11 hours of caching with some interesting Stats:

270 finds including all of the A.S. Trail
3 DNF’s (Due to grading of the roadside that has taken a few trees away)
2 finds with three DNF’s on them before us (they are always nice to get!)
1Challenge puzzle completed.
My 2000th find somewhere along the way (but I don’t actually know which one)
And my favourite stat: 39 finds in 60 minutes – boy did we hoof it! Fun, Fun Fun!

Now for the caveat, as I know my partners in crime will no doubt mention in their logs, I did not manage to get to look for every cache! Well actually very few……ok….I only actually found 2 myself. You see I was the designated driver for the day. After some knee surgery 4 weeks ago, and only starting weight bearing again 2 days prior, the plan was hatched that I would happily drive for the day if my friends would add my name to the caches as we found them. They tell me that they did actually put my name in the log, but I am dubious.

I swear I will never attempt another power trail, as they are simply not my thing….but I am glad I have done it once so my thanks to the CO’s for their efforts. That must be a lot of work to maintain!

Thanks also to my partners in crime – sterling effort!

23-May-15
I have wanted to take a crack at a power trail for a while. My crazy companions today, SwellerFungus and SeffnJarah were really only lukewarm on the idea. But then a knee operation sidelined Fungus and he hit upon the idea of a power trail road trip, where he did the driving and Seff and I did all the hard work finding the caches .....as always.

An early start on a brisk Stanthorpe morning had the first cache in hand in the dark at 04:23. With a couple of hours break for lunch and 11 hours on the trail, I finished up before dark with 277 finds and 3 DNF's. A good dozen or so caches along the way really tested our finding abilities (ie Fungus actually stopped the car engine and joined the search) - mostly where overzealous road works had changed the landscape.

Highlights of the day included seeing the sun rise (and later set) over a foggy valley, finishing the entire A.S. Series in a day, signing a cache every 1 min 33 seconds to grab a huge 39 in an hour and mostly the endless banter and leg pulling with my companions (power trails would be dull without it!).

Many thanks to all the cache owners for their efforts in placing and maintaining this huge trail of caches, and particularly thanks to Team Robins for placing and maintaining this cache.

Pete

Thank you to the masters of these series of caches for their diligence and thoughtfulness in giving visitors to this region a vast number of little (and not so little) gems to discover and the opportunity to see so much countryside which quite possibly could never have been seen except to a very select number of passers-by.
Shockers were very aware of the beautiful sunburnt countryside as they travelled along the forest tracks.
Thanks to all involved in being Cos for these caches. Please excuse the generic comments as so many of these caches were discovered that it would take a month of Sundays to record separate notes on each one. Suffice to say they all had aspects of real inventiveness.

QLD Mega trip 2015 with Sol de Lune. On this almost 400km road trip we drove from Canberra to Stanthorpe caching in all the towns along the way with mostly great success. Around the Mega there were heaps of caches to be done including a few power trails. Despite the weather we got all of the planned caches done.

Day twelve is the last day we spent in the Stanthorpe region. First was the fruit run then finishing off the A.S. series. The rest of the day was spent collecting the left over caches that in fact took us to some of the more amazing places on this trip. Thanks.

Visiting QLD from Central Coast NSW, and attending the Stanthorpe MEGA EVENT for about a week. Camping at the showground, caching days done mainly with SpikeyMikey, meeting up with members of CCG, HAVOC, and others from all over Australia.
Many thanks to all responsible for a smooth operating event, my first Mega, and first visit to Stanthorpe. Plenty of reasons for a near future visit Big Grin
Whilest it did rain and drizzle almost every day, I much preferred this over hot days, which is what I encounted on the Gold Coast return journey, as well as a repeated bout of coughing with the flu on the long drive home.

Found it with Team FIN [kapeka & laalaa]

We had fun with caching few weeks here in Australia ( Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Australian Capital Territory ). Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and huge country!

Greetings from Finland!

We enjoyed our drive along the back roads to find these caches, seeing some great countryside, beaut hides, lots of laughs and no DNFs.

Many thanks for the cache.

We found this cache while over in Stanthorpe for the Aussie mega. A super wonderful time, and super wonderful caches!! Thanks to all the COs, and event organisers! We had a blast!!

Second day, and we decided to see how many we could do. Ended up with about 202 I think it was - yay! Best day ever! And that wasn't even a full day, as we needed to be back in time for the markets at 2pm, to advertise the NZ mega - so a half day only really.

Left at 6am, together with Karma Reprint.

We signed almost every log as 'Team Polak' over this trip which consists of hinemoana, sonia26642, /dev/gc0c, and tunfisk - to save time, our hands from overuse, and the logsheets Smile

But on this trail, we signed as TP + KR. Even shorter!

I found this cache while visiting Australia from New Zealand and while staying in Stanthorpe for several days for the 2015 Mega Event. Today I joined forces with fellow kiwis Cats&Dragons, Alpenmilch80, Vamber and Yorkshirekiwi83 (signing our logs as "CAVVY" to save time and log space.) Our main focus of the day was the power trails between Stanthorpe and Warwick. We left Stanthorpe at dawn and drove straight to Warwick, then slowly made our way south again through the power trails. It was a long day out caching, where we found over 300 caches! Apologies for the copy and paste logs, but its hard to remember them all! TFTC!

LCBuilder and I are over from NZ staying in Brisbane and came to Stanthorpe for the MEGA event. We tried to get this whole string of caches in a day to make for our "Most caches in a day" stat. Started early at 5am, most of them were found within seconds with only a couple DNFs. Unfortunately we got a flat tyre about half way through and had to abandon our plan with only the space saver to get us off the gravel roads. To our surprise we managed to find a place to fix the tyre (On Good Friday!), and then off we went, back to the power tail. Couldn't get them all though, with night closing in and the danger of hitting a kangaroo too high, we went back to our tent happy with ~240 finds Smile TFTC
