This is a lovely area to walk through, so close to the suburb of Curtin but also peaceful behind all the houses. We came here in the afternoon on a cool day. The gold of the wattle is really beginning to shine now. All safe and dry at GZ and our name is now in the log. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN Domsky

Found while attending the Mega event in Canberra over Easter. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Adelaide to Broken HillDay two. Broken Hill to WellingtonDay three. Wellington to CowraDay four. Cowra to BathurstDay five. Bathurst to CanberraDay six. Canberra to CanberraDay seven. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Im back in Canberra. Im 100% sure that the last time I was in Curtin was 23 years ago when I drove off and left it in the dust. I had a very unhappy time for two months here. In fact, its my time in Curtin that caused my future husband to apply for a job which is why I now have the crazy life I do now. Anyway.I needed a letterbox today and my friends kid was playing touch rugby nearby so this one fitted in nicely. No trouble here and I drew a business card. Thanks!

K8TYBEE and i decided to spend the night finding a few caches in and around Curtin. This was the 2nd for the night. I think we may have taken the long way around and trying to find a path through the long grass was a bit tricky. We finally got there, and signed the log. Thanks for the cache.

Made plans with Bonfire7 & Muppet95 for a day in Canberra to cherry pick a few caches with interesting DT combos, types, dates, or other attributes. We got off to an early start, the weather was superb, and the caches were great. Thanks to all the COs for making Canberra (and around) a good place to come back to time and again.

Out caching with muppet95 and 154crows,today muppet was aiming towards a milestone so armed with TOTT's we planned on spending the day searching for speciality and higher D/T rated caches.
As always it was a top day out caching in and around the ACT with the company of good friends,we found some really cool hides thoughout the day whilst muppet reached his milestone so that was great to be a part off!
Looking forward to our next trip!

I dropped off a car dealer card i found floating around in the wallet

Planned a trip to Canberra to coincide with my 6000th find milestone. I teamed up with geobuddies, Bonfire7 and 154Crows, for the day outdoors! We targeted cache types as well as D/T ratings (particularly high T-rated caches requiring a TOTT). Thanks to all the Cache Owners for their contributions to this recreational activity!

Made a quick find with the useful hint. Thanks For The Letterbox!

Visiting from the Gold Coast for two days due to a family commitment and thought I'd grab a few caches whilst I have some free time.
Wow, walking my way to GZ I can't believe how dry it is here in the ACT & met a local walking her dog who said its the worst she has seen it in 50 years of living here.
Enjoyed finding the cache, left a business card and now on my merry way, thanks for the hide CO.

I am currently visiting Canberra from Brisbane to spend the Christmas/New Year period with my relatives here.

This morning I headed out in the thick pall of smoke blanketing the city, to see how many caches I could find before the heat and haze drove me back inside.

Was quite surprised at the cache location, in such an obviously well used location. It appears not just the local kids look after this, as I found a note in the logbook from the local Fire Management Crew (see photo). TFTC

I wandered up to a likely GZ, then the coords were 10m off. Kept wandering around for ages ending up walking all over the BMX tracks and round and round. Bugger that! Checked the hint to find the actual GZ & then made a quick find.

Day 4 of trip to Queanbeyan/Canberra for the Clear Waters Mega Event, travelling with RLD4963.

We had nothing planned for today, no tours, no bookings, so we decided to head to a few particular caches that had been recommended to us. This resulted in us doing a great big loop around Canberra over the day, but we had great fun, and saw some great caches.

This cache was targeted specifically for the Cacheopoly game conducted as part of the Mega Event, and was our next location visit for the day. Didn't take too long to find the cache, and this letterbox was found and log signed.

Thanks for the letterbox cache DARKSIDEDAN.

TFTC! Managed to jump in the area avoiding the thorny manmade cables. When arriving to the area I saw loads of garbage from past parties so I didn't touch many things around. Looked and looked with a stick at the coordinates. Got an anthill of very angry ants and little else. Saw several possible containers but all were empty and half destroyed so I am not sure whether I found the right one or only debris.
After more than 30 minutes trying I decided to give up for the day. Will keep an eye on it just in case!
Thanks for hiding and maintaining DARKSIDEDAN.!

Eventually found after negotiating through some thorny bushes and manmade thorns as well. No snakes today, though. No business card with me from my "previous" professional life - now I'm retired. But not tired! I borrowed the blank back side of an acquaintance from 15 years ago and the Canberra Bushwalking Club. Thanks for the letterbox! Smile

Good Day,

It looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache in the next couple of weeks, or archive it so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and cachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.

If the reason the cache is under the weather is something out of your control, such as construction or flooding, please post a **note on the cache page** with your best guess of when the conditions will improve. If the situation is temporary and is something out of your control, there is no need to archive the cache at this time. Please however, add a note to the cache page detailing the situation to allow others to understand the situation - and - to prevent this from being archived for inactivity.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,

I'd put this one on my GPS last week after looking at the UGC mystery series. Today I went for the find. Once at GZ I had CIH after a brief search. Now that I'm logging the find I notice that it has been disabled. I hope the CO finds a good new position for it soon. It's nice to be turning the DNF into a smiley. TFTC.

Sorry, no such luck. This one is still too close to [GC2BTGH: Workout 102](http://coord.info/GC2BTGH).

It will need to be moved. You can email me to check a location but it might also pay to either find the cache or if you can't or have already try contacting the other cache owner.

G'Day

I'm sorry, but your recent move has brought your cache too close to a Physical Waypoint of [GC2BTGH: Workout 102](http://coord.info/GC2BTGH) and will need to be moved. Please read the following item on [Cache Saturation](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines?expand=1#cachesaturation)

I've disabled this listing for the time being, could you please move it to a new location that fits within the saturation guidelines. Once that is done you may enable the cache.

Rgds,
Matt - Ministro.

Walked into the space, but did not stay long, much evidence of a camp, with broken bottles, rubbish etc. Did not undertake a search for the cache.

21-Jan-18
**updated coord - S 35 19 361 , E 149 04 146** Hint is still correct, and the tree/s is a twin of the one at the current GZ.

Makes perfect sense why this cache has been moved given the human activity around GZ. This was a frustrating search and only found thx to previous cacher logs. We took the new coordinates as there is evidence of plenty of digging as previous cachers have searched and searched putting the trees at risk.

Sunday 21 January 2018 - a glorious Summer's morning in the low 30s to find 6 from 6 caches in 2hrs of driving/walking in and around Curtain. Thx p2p. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.

Forgot to mention that I dropped off the trackable 'Xmas Dog'. Took the opportunity to do this as there are few container I have come across recently that are big enough to fit a 'bulky' trackable.

14-Jan-18
This was a frustrating find. Lots of possibilities at GZ, the clue didn't help a lot, I hunted around for about 10 minutes before going back through the logs; spotted a couple of good clues that directed me away. I can see from the local activity why the container is hidden the way it is.

#1578 #3 of 5 today. An unplanned and last minute cache run south to the ACT, set off with Splitty Miller JJCC and phlphotos in order to meet up with TARDIS 0061 who was already in town with the family. We had solved a number of puzzles to get "next time", today was the "next time" for 5 caches. This was a diversion as teamMerlin & JJCC hadn't been able to find it the last time they were around so looked around for a bit and found the prize. Thought we were hunting puzzles so didn't have my stamp for letterbox caches.

Signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the letterbox DARKSIDEDAN (finally got to one of your caches after meeting you at a couple of events up here.

The following TBs visited for the distance - Jasmer Geocoin, GasCans 2006 Geocoin, Kitac 2, Caching Dilemma's Geocoin, Butterfly, phlphotos 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017 NSW geocoin, phlphotos' Spindoc Bob Memorial Geocoin, phlphotos travelling 2012, 2017 NSW Geocoin, phlphotos' Mary Hyde's compass, MARJ01 Mystery Micro Geocoin, Zaur's 2000. An unplanned and last minute cache run south to the ACT, set off with Splitty Miller JJCC and phlphotos in order to meet up with TARDIS 0061 who was already in town with the family. Finally had a chance to drop by again and try our luck having had a DNF back in late 2016. Unlike our last visit which was in the dark, thankfully all was clear and we soon had the cache in hand after expanding the search area. After signing we replaced as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN.

The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust) & Vanlith The Youngling.

The approach to this cache was not too hard and we soon found the rubbish left there. It is such a shame. Looking around at GZ did not look too hopeful as it was quite clear. So the search area was extended and the container was then discovered. We added a couple of geocaching cards which are able to be discovered only. They are not to be grabbed.
This was a really good find and we are pleased to add a good size container to the collection. Thank you to DARKSIDEDAN for this cache.

We haven't been caching for a long while, so today we packed up the bike and The Woofer and headed to Curtin. We spent a lovely (albeit hot!) morning caching around the streets, and visited some places we would never have gone otherwise.

This was a lot harder to find than it should have been! Firstly, Saf and The Woofer went in alone, and came across a den of broken glass and bonfire. So The Woofer went back to Chris (no cut paws on Saf's watch!) and Saf went back in alone to search. She was about to give up when the cache was finally found 14m from the GZ coordinates. Didn't have a business card or stamp, so left the mark of The Woofer. TFTC! Smile

I'm coming back from brunch with a friend. It's a hot day, but I need the cache for Professor RapidlyWild's 365 day challenge. Yeah, I'm up to about day 34 ...
I drove around the suburb following the arrow on my GPS, and arrived at a convenient side street. One with access to the grasslands. Hopped out, put on my terrorist hat, and off I went. I had a nice walk looking for a hole in the fence (turned out there were plenty), but I got in near the approved possy, and went searching. It turned out to be an easy find, the camo had been blown off. I signed it, left a card, and covered it up again. Thanks, DarkSideDan.

Tftc. Walking here from measuring up the cork, Mrs jaybeem was reading out the description and then previous logs. She suggested I use Lokipagan’s coords, and we were successful.

28-Nov-17
Came and found a cache near here, while accidentally exploring detours on my way home from the "blood bank", decided to come for this one nearby as well.
I don't know why i didn't find it before I scrolled down and found those more accurate coords... I am sure I looked in a wide enough search area to cover that particular location.
Spotted it on my way back from checking something likely looking a bit further away (and then looking up previous logs when the cache wasn't there Smile
TFTC - spent 5 minutes chasing an interesting looking ant with my phone, trying to get a photo that wasn't just a blur (or a nice picture of the empty bit of ground where the ant was until my phone camera decided to actually focus and take the photo) then I drew some semblance of a calling card in the log... My creative/artistic skills are in other things rather than drawing Smile

Found 12:03 pm. I came to this area to do the letterbox cache. I gave up on this cache posting a log with pic that I could not find it (now the pic was for another cacher). I had tried using all the coords that others had posted except for Lokipagans but my phone app only shows 30 logs. So I headed over to do couple of other caches which were next on the agenda. After this I will head back to this letterbox one armed with a log coords I couldn't see earlier after contact with another cacher. An update to the next searchers, the difference is the Southerly coords should be 358 seconds ignore all the 36x in other coords!! With the new coords I quickly located the cache at the same time kicking myself for not quite checking properly here but I put it down to how close it was to the bike track and not noticing the location as I scouted further a field from the other coords. Stamp signed the log drew a stamp (Lol) and returned the cache to its hiding spot along with appropriate cover.
Thanks for the cache.

Hmm tried to find this looked at new an old GPS location numbers scanned further a field, dug all around possible areas but I suspect the new fire place and very recent camping is associated with sticks being gathered and no more cache. See photo the tree in background is one GPS location and it's base is almost clean of leaves with no sticks.

Ahhh another night caching with StrangeTrousers. We return to complete what we had started and check out some more caches in Weston Creek/Stromlo. Have been very lucky to have a caching buddy for these fun night caching adventures especially for any of the caches that require “Hight” as one of tonight’s did. It was espcially nice to be able to get this one as we were unable to on our last visit. Great views at night on the way up - love the lights.

Cache 2761 on 19/8/17

Headed out on a mostly sunny Saturday afternoon with Fox in Jox and TikvaNZ to grab a couple of multis in South Canberra. I found 2 multis, I letterbox and 3 trads this afternoon, after finding a puzzle this morning.

Last cache for the afternoon. I noted the offset and after doing a circle, I spotted a tell-tale sign. No stamp . But still glad to have another LB ticked off.

Thanks DARKSIDEDAN. for the cache!

Used the updated coords provided by a previous cacher and went straight to the spot for a quick find. Container is all safe and sound and well tucked away. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN

Didn't take too long to find, just had to enlarge the search radius a bit. Hadn't seen previous logs with the updated coordinates. Plenty of broken glass bottles and other evidence of recent/constant muggle use laying about. TNLNSL TFTC

So... after failing to locate the container a couple of days ago, I scanned through the logs and noted some alternate coords from Lokipagan. Hmm, 15m away hey, I wonder if I simply did not widen the search enough on my first visit... [?]

Very frosty this morning so I was very well rugged up. At 0600, I did not expect to see anyone around the area, but there were a couple of early morning walkers that I can only label as "lunatics"... Crazy people, get back to bed or the warmth of home with a coffee of something... Geez... Big Grin

I only crossed paths with them though, so as I made my way to GZ under torch light, I arrived at the slightly offset location and quickly spotted the container. Aha, so it is still here... [^]

Log out, I added a sticker to make my visit and tucked it back in place.

CO... Although safe, the cache is covered in potentially very attractive fuel for the folk who are making use of the area. It may only be a matter of time before that fuel is retrieved and the container revealed. I would say it would pay to move further away from where it is and perhaps further away form the bike trails.

Thanks for the cache and a very fresh walk this morning. I was pleased to get back to the car and thaw out... Big Grin

Cheers DARKSIDEDAN.
