Called by today to see for ourselves, how the area has changed. Decided this cache has had its day and time for a new idea here. Thanks for all visitors over the years.
Thanks kiwiscot19 for the heads up on this one. Will be a couple of weeks before we can pop up to sort this one out and set a new final spot.
looks like the final has met it maker, huge changes around here. The campsite is no longer, trees have been chopped. The final cords were pointing to a fenced off area with the tree remnants all that remained.
I was keen to find at least 1 Multi today (trying to establish some kind of a streak ) and had lucked out at Helensville so detoured out to Parakai.
Lots of activity as people walked to & from the pools and there were a couple of groups camping.
Thank you for this well thought out Multi, Darby&Joan; I found the cache exactly where the hint stated.

Camping close. Cool to find a new cache in a new part of town! Didn't pack a pen for camping so here's a photo. Cache dry.
We got to GZ and started the calculations. We had a bit of discussion as to how the E might be calculated and managed to get the checksum to work in the end. We had to dodge the ride on mowers as we headed towards the final. Quick find here thanks to the hint. Cache is in excellent condition.
As it was such a nice day Jag50 and I headed to Helensville to get a few smileys. 'E' was a little confusing as our answer wouldn't get checksum to work so after some discussion we decided on what it should be. Workers were busy with their ride on mowers as we walked over to gz where thanks to the hint we made a quick find
I tried this one before, but didn't find the cache. I returned today and recalculated the coords for Stage 2. When I found the cache right away, I was left wondering if I had done the calculations incorrectly the first time, or if I had just missed the find. TFTC.

In Auckland for my eldest son's wedding tomorrow. I stopped by here as I needed to find a multi today for a challenge cache I'm working towards. Collected the inofrmation and then wandered over to GZ and soon found the cache thanks to the hint. TFTC.

Was camping at the camping ground & saw this just a wee way away. I excused myself from my muggle friends & a quick study & calculation later, I was off to find the cache. TFTC
Arrived at the listed coordinates and set about collecting all the info, one of the questions had us guessing a little but the check sum made sense and we were on our way to GZ nearby. Arrived at GZ and started searching around hint items, there sure are some nasty spikes on some of the plants around this area - so take care!
Found the cache after digging around leaf litter a little. TFTC!

Mrs NZT and I set out north on a day trip to grab a few caches in peace. After a slightly delayed start due to a quick trip to the doctor after laval fell off a bouncy castle and hit his head very hard we were free to go and had a great day.
Had an issue with one digit but soon thought we had a good set of co-ordinates and headed over. Looked in a couple of wrong spots before making the find. All good here.
Thanks for the cache.

On our trip to the north today and had in mind to get at least one multi while on our trip. We do like memorial caches so were keen to do this one. Got to GZ and had a bit of debate about left side and right side and how the numbers work but in the end just went with the most obvious method and that worked. Bit of discussion about how E might be calculated but barring other possibilities the only one we could think of worked as well as for the checksum.
Wandered across to GZ and slipped past a sleeping muggle to have a look. It was quite tricky but in the end we were drawn back to the GPS coordinates. Grid search around the hint item finally produced the cache which is in fine condition. Thanks for the cache, all good here.

Took a while to get 'e' but coords accurate and easy find 20m behind caravan, even in the dark. TFTC y
After a previous visit and no go for me I mentioned to urbangypsy this cache had to be done today while we were up South Head, she agreed. We were 4 in numbers but 2 others had prior commitments and had to go. So urban and I ran through the numbers. I came stuck last time on the checksums!! Just couldn't get them to work. Urban said this is what you do and I suddenly saw the light. I have to say that is a very unusual way of doing a checksum!! Can't say I was that enthralled about it. Never mind... I had the final co-ords all along but didn't think to just go and check them on my last visit! But today we did, shade was an all important issue today, it is so bloody hot, I just can't stand it. So at every opportunity urban drove the car under trees. So glad to knock this one off.
Up collecting the local caches, the group is now down to just Gorby and myself. Found a spot under a tree to park and collected the required information, blimey you need good eyesight for a couple of questions. Soon had the cache in hand, luckily under another tree, certainly needed shade today.
Was collecting some caches around Helensville, and came over to Parakai for this multi. Grabbed the info, and came up with a good looking solution. Cache quickly found, TFTC
Out and about for a spot cache detection on this cold, wet and windy day. Due to the weather I am focusing on park and grabs. Not exactly a drive bye here, but I enjoy multicache placements. I parked up in the car park and walked over to the monument. Some quick reading and calculations and I soon had a good set of coordinates. The walk to GZ was very wet, but once at GZ I put my hand straight on the final. Cache is nice and dry. Cheers for the multi cache placement!
Was out in Helensville this morning so popped over here to complete this one. It was still dark so I missed one letter but the checksum helped there. Walked to the GZ for a quick find. TFTC
Camped overnight at this pleasant spot and took the chance to complete this one this morning. It took a little while to sort out the correct numbers but we got there in the end once the checksum made sense. It also took longer than it should have to locate the container - missed it on the first pass, it is well covered. However the coordinates and hint were both good. Thanks Darby& Joan, good to tick this one off.
Called by today to check on this cache. We can confirm it is in place and not missing. Happy Hunting.
This one was next to our camp ground, so i tried to solve it.
The questions are ok, the check sum fit, but unfortunatley I did not find any cache
Anyway - nice memorial and time for me.
Greetings from Germany ...

Called by to check this one is still definitely in place. Guess it’s a matter of getting the numbers right.
Worked out the South coords with no problem but East coords would not add up no matter how creative we got. Checked a few trees according to hint with little luck.
(1991) In the area having a swim, so couldn't resist picking this one up while here. Once I got the correct tree we soon had the cache found. TFT multi.
Having a slide and camp at Parakai, nice cache for a run round in the park. We're now back sliding.
We enjoyed doing this little multi in a lovely park, while staying nearby for a night. Thanks for the fun.
Visiting from Nelson and off around Northland on a family tiki tour - enjoying some of the many sights and towns en route.
Hot pools bathed in and dinner eaten, whilst the kids enjoyed one last soak in the motel's hot pool, I could not let a cache so close to our over-night stop go unfound, so I set off as the sun was setting.
I quickly found the monument, did a couple of laps to find the names and numbers and crunched the coordinates.
They seemed to make sense, so I headed off in the direction of the arrow and just before I ended up over the fence found what I was looking for.
Thanks for this nice wee multi.

A fairly straightforward find just before swimming lessons at the nearby springs. TFTC.
For a caching weekend away with the HKCB this was a late but welcome start in this great piece of countryside that I had never visited before.
So after having spent a caching trip where I slept in a bed rather than a car, and having had a shower (so this must be how normal cachers start their day when caching) while getting a tour of the Albertlanders History before heading south.
We collected this one following on from cretti's series of puzzle caches and heading south once again
Great spot for the cache and we were happy to have the place to ourselves.
thanks for brining me to this spot to enjoy the surrounds.

A little while ago an idea was thrown about to head north for a final caching roadtrip for the year. So along with C&D a rough plan was formed with a certain few caches, a confluence point visit, an event to attend, and the rest of the plan was to be made up as we went along. A later start this morning, but we'd achieved most of what we had wanted to do yesterday so a nice crusiey day today. Heading home the along way via Helensville to grab a few more caches.
Didn't take long to get some numbers sorted for the final, and after a short walk the hunt began. Coords were putting us out a bit but used the clue and a bit of caching sense and eventually made the find. Thanks for the multi.

#254 Was on a rare visit out this way to have a meeting with a client. Spent a little extra time during picking up some caches that are usually out of normal reach. Well this one was straight forward enough, performed all the calculations and walked to area I assumed it would be based on hints. Ended up being close to hint, not behind it, but it is safely tucked away.

Boy oh boy, a wet soggy area today. Just as well the gumboots were on board. Soon found and signed. Tftc.
Finally back here again .....after some collaboration with Ric had a light bulb moment re the number required for E .... phew !
Checksum didn't agree , but I went ahead anyway and I found it no problem !!!!
Very wet underfoot .....no hot swim today...will be back another day for that !!!

Mmm... was here for an hour in total on two visits today ...
Thought it looked so easy !
Got all the info....one question was a bit dodgy as answer had 2 digits ! Obviously I did something wrong ....
Then I didn't really know how to make the checksum balance .
So I poked behind about 50 gum trees .....just in case ! (twice)
No joy . Only a half eaten deceased rat ....and some interesting frothy stuff coming out of the gum trees .
I'll be back !

I had been in Helensville all day at a workshop, so before I drove home decided to come and solve this multi! Parking not far from the playground, I made my way to the statue and gathered the required information to solve.
One question nearly tripped me up when the checksum did not work, but after thinking a little more, I had it corrected and loaded the new co-ords into the GPS in no time. Drove to the final, I needed to dig a little deeper, and checked a couple of likely suspects, but thankfully eventually the sistema revealed itself
Thanks for the hide, its been ages since I last did a multi, beautiful sunny afternoon up "North"

I think this may be my first multi find without garball! We had our last night of camping here at Parakai, checked my phone for local caches, unfortunately the nearby trad was disabled but the description of this multi pointed us to a statue we already had walked by and looked at, so with phone in hand Mr8 and I recorded all the numbers we needed. Back at the campervan I put in the final co-ordinates and apparently we were 15m away from the final, no way we weren't looking for it, and hooray, there it was. Thanks for this challenge Darby&Joan.

An awesome find after my fellow geocachers could not find. love this challenge.
On our [trip around the world](http://www.hoppundweg.piekar.de/) we came to New Zealand as well. We first visited the south Island, then we came to the north island. We searched many caches and found almost every cache we searched for . Thanks to all the owners of these caches. Now, 2 years later, we recognized, we will never be able to log every cache seperately... So: Sorry for this standard logtext and thanks for one of the caches, which accompanied us on our journey.
Nice little multi in small but beautiful park. We spent the night on the campground nearby so we were able to search for the final box without any other muggels. It was our last night in our rental car, so we happy to have some oppurtunities to get some other ideas. Thanks a lot for the cache.
Not sure if our maths was correct...but it pointed us in the general direction & we eventually found it after a bit of scrabbling around...and some good decoy work by the geodogs.
Was a bit damp & we wiped it out. Tftc

After a great family day at the pools it was off to do some caching, a nice easy multi all in order, TB drop, TFTC.
Took some pictures of the Statue a few weeks ago as I was busy at the time, worked the solution out later. With the hint, it was quite the easy find. Cache is quite happy at the moment.
4.25pm. Nice little multi in a nice little park. Not sure how helpful the checksum was intended to be but we calculated the correct co-ords. Left a signature pathtag.

Quite a few people wandering around from the nearby campsite, none who paid attention to the people with a notebook investigating the memorial up close . Got our answers....kind of, so set off with a couple of options. Looked in both places and couldn't find, then decided to go for hint locations and came up trumps. Nice park, lots of ducks (didn't bring any bread ) Thanks D&J
Found it while waiting for master 4 to finish his swimming lesson. Was muggled coming out of the bushes but just acted as if I did that everyday...
We are midway through a mission to log a 10-day streak of multicaches. There are not too many unfound multis close by, so this evening we drove to Parakai to visit Memorial 11 11 11. (Luckily for us the cache was missing last time we were here).
We worked out the answers to the questions, and the resulting co-ords looked good. We made a beeline across the park, and soon had our hands on the cache. Thanks!

Returned today armed with the co-ords and we still couldn't find it. So replaced with a new cache. All good to go.
Called by today and we couldn't find it, but then we couldn't exactly remember where we hid it lol. Temporarily disabling until we can call back armed with the co-ords to double check it.
No find after 2 attempts, 1 week apart. Looked behind several trees. After leaving I noticed a dubious looking individual standing around near gz on both occasions.
Enjoyable multi and made this our afternoontea stop on a warm sunny autumn day. Nice to see the soldiers have been remembered on Anzac Day with wreaths left at the memorial TFTC.
Spent Waitangi Day at Parakai Hot Pools. I sent the family in ahead of me, as I wanted to get a couple of caches. Like some others my sum was 18 for both, but got 9 by adding those two numbers together. Had a slight problem with E but then noticed something really small which made sense. Initially got the right tree at GZ, but didn't search well enough. Moved on to other trees, but still couldn't find the cache. Finally went back to the first tree I searched, and after some more intensive searching found the cache. TFTC
I could not make sense of E, so just used the clue and my geosense to locate the cache which was in the first place I looked.
It's time to go back to Helensville today and pick up a few more caches. I got asked by a small muggle if the person on top was a relative. I had to say that he wasn't. A great little multi.
Cheers for the cache.
Had some cheap tickets to the pools, so as Ryan is with us we came out for a dip.
Got very hot wondering around doing the caches, Kev and Ryan tagged along behind. Greatful for the multi as I can count it towards GEO Licence.
Got one of the dates wrong - but as I was now sitting in the shade, wasn't willing to get up and go and back for another look (just worked out what the missing number was to make the check sum).
Quickly found and signed cache - had re hidden by the time the others caught up to me.
Definately ready for a dip in pools now. TFTC
Surprized to see Gecko's name in log before me - have been following him around all holidays (either finding his caches, or signing just after him - no matter where in Auckland I am.

I parked under the trees in the cool and did the calcs. I could not get the checksum to agree and in the end just followed my nose to the cache. Not sure what I did wrong, but I did find the cache. Thanks.
10288… Muggles, Muggles, Muggles… Glad there weren’t any near GZ. An interesting wee multi, many thanks for the history lesson.
Fortunately there were no muggles around GZ despite being a sunny public holiday which made for an easy find. Like Glyn, I struggled a bit with both the checksums which added up to 18, not 9. maybe the checksum was also applied to the resultant 18 to give 1+8 = 9. Anyhow, thanks for the cache and the opportunity to revisit this really neat place.
Now we know a new type of tree. We don't have those in the Netherlands. TFTC!
Very good cache to do while rest of family in the pools, nice place to visit.Cache all good, added pencil.
Puzzled by the checksum though, I got 18 rather than 9? no matter which way I added it up

Following some deft mathematical manipulation and lateral thinking we headed (hopefully) in the direction of the cache. Fired by enthusiasm and a degree of gumption the prize was in our hands at last.
Enjoyed this interesting multi. After reading names I found a relation on the list on my husbands side. Have been asking nana all sorts of questions as to how who and what did they do here in Helensville. Took a photo of memorial . Worked the Mathis and cache in hand shortly after thanks.very interesting the things you find while cachin.
The kids did the maths for this one, checksums all good and off to the final. Nicely hidden cache and always a great area to come back to. TFTC
Great cache.
Need to read carefully, but it all works out well.
The cache was a little hard to spot at the final nlocation, but it was there.

Found in the dark with W.E.K.A.
A quick walk from the motel that we are staying at next to the park.
Thanks.

Thanks.
Here with Edvern. Did our sums and nothing made sense. Checked three times and still couldn't make things work. Tried different interpretations, but still nothing. Only two possible questions that we could stuff up we reckon and really they are pretty straightforward. Got approached by the camp custodian asking if we needed help (think he thought we were looking for a free campsite), and have to invent excuses. In the end gave it away. Oh well....
We had some difficulty with question E until we tried to apply the checksums, and realized what was meant by adding the digits. After that it was a fairly quick easy find, despite being in the dark. TFTC
Had to do one of the numbers twice, then got this OK after check sum added up! Picked up TB.

Stopped by on the way home from work to pick up a find on this new cache. Wasn't too sure about one of my numbers (adding up the digits) but think I got it right - it took me within about 8m or so of the cache anyway, and when I got close I could see where it would be. Greeted by a blank logbook for FTF #1043 . Swapped TBs. TFTC!!!
