Cache checked tonight and maintenance is needed so cache is disabled until this is done.
Staying nearby for a week but today was the first chance I got to get on the bike and ride up here to grab this one. Nice little hamlet, and an easy find, thanks.
Un petit arrêt pour se dégourdir les jambes sur la plage, et par la même occasion, pour trouver cette cache. Tout est en ordre et bien au sec.

I went to the right spot but didn't try hard enough, while Mr. HP checked the other side. Ended up rechecking the right one and found it. Nice hide, but there may be a problem with the integrity of the container. I will contact the CO.
We are visiting from the US and have been in Port Douglas for a week with Scottwall and today we are on our way to Cairns to catch a flight to Sydney. We are having a great time in Australia.

A year ago I was up here with a sister-in-law (bmrbabe, married to a guy named Ellis) and we DNF'd this one. Part was lack of experience--we had less than 100 caches between us--and part was being scared by the location.
Today I was up here with a different, muggle sister-in-law, who was kind enough to let me try again. But now, with 1000+ caches under my belt and a much stronger hint, I walked right to it. I still think the location is dicey, would never take a geokiddie to this one, but I have the smiley now. Too bad bmrbabe never got it--she really wanted it for her husband. But I e-mailed her a picture of it (she's in Minnesota, USA, and unlikely to ever get to this one again) and she's jealous. TFTC!

Brahms6 found whilst having lunch Mrs Brahms6 and geodaughter at Ellis Beach. Nice lunch with a cache chaser.
A quick easy find on a hot day whilst holidaying in Port Douglas.
Generally a quiet afternoon but still a few muggles around.
TN but left penguin eraser & confetti.
TFTC & greetings from Tassie

Deliberated with my wife (while having a drink in the cafe) about where the cache could be.... On the way across the road my wife grabbed it and we kept going... She was quite shocked at finding it right where we thought it would be. The hard part about this cache was then getting it back into it's hiding place, as suddenly everyone from a 1km radius decided it was time to go to the cafe for something ! Took me a good 10 minutes (just long enough to expect a visit from the Police) to get an opening to rush across and replace it without a) getting run over b) being pointed at by a suspicious small child or c) being seen by any one of the at least 30 people at the cafe..... phew, thanks for the cache
10.30 - 15/16 - On a caching expedition together with Walterhellmut & Ingrid on this beautiful but hot day. Dead give-away led to a kwik find on the way back. Tanx 4 showing me this part of paradise. +/-0. T4TC.
Had a quick look but due to traffic didn't look for to long. Gave the two keep left signs a going over but alas nothing.

A quick stop and grab on our way to Palm Cove. Lost of people on the beach, but no muggle-activity at the parking or opposite. So fast grabbing and logging. Thanks for the cache.

Found on the 2012 Tour de Eclipse. Cache was missing and we replaced it from the resources of the pajero. It will not go missing this time.
Found on the great Eclipse Trip of 2012 with Freddo.
A solid day caching around Cairns saw us get rained on, shined on, made by ecliptophiles, shined on and then rained on again. Awesome fun.
Thanks to isthmus and clear skies from TeamAstro.

This one is not far from home and I had another crack at it after missing it some months ago. Bingo -- went straight to it today with a bit more experience under the belt.
TFTC Isthmus. The clue helped greatly. Have tried to look in this place on every visit but could not open it. If all seekers read the clue I reckon it should now be safe enough. Thank you for another cashe ...
TFTC. Finally ticked this one off. Certain that I tried this hiding position before but couldn't access previously.
It does not matter if the cache is in a safe place or not. The matter is that people looking for it do not know where it is and wander out into the road. Visitors from other lands usually are not able to visit this place late at night and so try to find the cache during the day thus endangering them selves and others. I have almost been killed at 11pm at night by a sugar transport truck speeding through the 60km zone because I was to focused on trying to fined what is probably a well hidden cache. I have enjoyed all your other caches, Isthmus, but this one is going to get someone killed or badly injured. Please see some reason and take heed of all the comments about the dangers here and move the cache to a safer location.
Checked this one tonight and cache is definately still there. Just a note for those concerned about safety if your looking in correct area there are no safety issues except it's not suitable for children as previously mentioned. Speed zone in this area is 60km/hr although we cannot personally police the speed of other road users breaking the law. There are definately no new signs that have been replaced around cache as stated in previous log.
Nope there's no sign of it, looks like the road signs have been replaced so if it was on one of those it's gone ;(
I agree with other logs...this cache is in a VERY DANGEROUS...! position...Braved muggles and traffic twice today...!!!!! pretty sure we know where it SHOULD BE...???? but...don't think it is....? or we never found it
Could not resist another try at this one. At 11.30pm gave the whole traffic island a good going over. Gave up again when I almost got taken out by a sugar transport truck belting through the 60 zone from Mossman - [xx(] [:(!] [xx(] [:(!] [xx(] THIS ONE IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!! PLEASE TAKE CARE AT ALL HOURS WHEN TRYING THO LOCATE THIS CACHE!!!! [xx(] [:(!] [xx(] [:(!] [xx(]
Wow - this is a bit rough! Arrived there, with the kids even though we knew they couldn't participate - but even so, in the afternoon on a week day this highway is busier than Parramatta Road!! Dodged about 20 cars and trucks over the space of 15 minutes. Thought we had it worked out, but no luck it wasn't there - so obviously we were wrong. The kids were quite disappointed that someone would place a cache they couldn't have a go at! Must say we weren't all that impressed with the cache location ourselves...

I thought I was being ambitious trying this on a Sunday afternoon and I was right. Too many people about and combined with a lot of passing cars I abandoned my search pretty quickly. I have a fair idea what I was looking for but after successfully checking a couple of locations I ran out of cover and time. A night time attack is a much better option!
Thanks isthmus, a good a stop even without the smilie

Found at about 3am this morning after a previously failed attempt with GeoSon.
I can see why I could not find it with him. It is a cache that should only ever be attempted between midnight and 5 am. The traffic and location of this cache (in the middle of the road at the end of a traffic island) just make it too dangerous otherwise. I would strongly urge cachers to only attempt this during the suggested hours.
The cache container, whilst very clever, could suggest to some muggles the destruction of council property. There are too numerous muggles here during daylight hours and it would be virtually impossible not to be detected by muggles.
The cache container is not within the safe area, but rather outside the barrier to the northern end of the designated pedestrian safety area.[xx(]
If you can't do this between 12am and 5am without kids, give this one a miss.[^]

Isthmus: I agree with the comments below. This is a dangerous cache. Like the others, my GPS pointed to the middle of the road. Whether it is on that small island or on the side of the road is immaterial. The road is narrow and busy and I can easily see how someone is going to lose their life looking for this.
I believe you should consider moving this cache to a safer location. If you don't want to do that then I believe you should provide directions to the exact location of the cache so that people can find it without putting their lives in jeopardy searching all around the road.
I have been bamboozled and amazed by the caches of yours I have found so far. I think it would be a great shame if your reputation was tarnished by someone stepping onto the road at the wrong time trying to find this one.

Have visited this site a few times and failed to find. Keep getting to traffic island in centre of very busy road. Have now given up as this one is just to dangerous!!!! [xx(]
Out doing some cache maintenance. Cache is in good condition unfortunately though appears last entry is false as there is no record and cache not large enough for swaps.
Had a very thorough look at the GZ.. People driving past and diners at the local shop thought I was a little crazy in the middle island. Lifted every loose thing possible but had no luck.. Thinking it may have been muggled???
GPS and satmaps led us right to the middle of the very busy road. Had a cursory look around but did not feel safe, so decided to pull the plug early on. Even the sides of the road were intimidating, with people pulling in and out despite it being early morning. If it is in a safer hunting place than our GPSr indicated, some sort of suggestion to that effect would be appreciated by many, I'm sure.
The clue helped us to tick this one off[^].
There was a nice view of Double Island.

Visited this cache in the early evening when only "drive-by" muggles were evident.
We found the clue provided very helpful. Even them there were numerous possibilities.
Thanks Isthmus for another fun cache.
