Thank you sedgwick Dave for replacing this popular cache! You are the best! Melvilla
Found 1:09 pmCache replaced with permission from CO. Search all over and agree that the cache was missing. Great views from 12pm, climb up in the clouds, but they cleared for stunning views all around. Great sense of satisfaction with this highest point now ticked off the list. Done while doing the Overland over 5 nights. Stopped at Kia Ora Hut which was far enough for today. The remainder of the track looks pretty crusiey to the end now. Day #3 on the Overland. The new cache includes a geocaching Victoria path tag for the lucky next finder.TFTC melvilla
Since the last two of us looking for the cache came up empty handed, May I suggest allowing us to log it as a find while you work to replace the container. We did make the trek to the top of Tasmania to look for a smiley.
This is in relation to a visit to Mt Ossa that my sons and I did in January this year. We found the little pile of rocks on a rock shelf as described, very obvious. But sadly no cache there I've been waiting to see if anyone finds it subsequently, but it doesn't look like it so far
Wow wow wow wow and wow. What amazing views. Bloody hard walk on a hot day. What do you need to do to get a terrain 5 around here. Left a sour taste taste in my mouth. But who cares. The overland is amazing and I have finally completed it.
As mentioned before container is in poor condition.

Found at 10.58am on our summer camp trek
What can I say the views up here are jaw dropping, almost forgot there was a cache up here but found it on our way back down as we stopped for a few photos
Parks have spent some money on a staircase over Mt Doris which makes the club up here a bit easier but T4 really WTF you Tasmanian cacher's are lot tougher than my thong wearing cache buddy's
Anyways cache needs a new container as the elements up here have been somewhat harsh on the cache
Muchas gracias mi amigo
Cheers ♡

Found with samdoggy hulioxxx samboxplore. What a climb. Had to take a pic no pen sorry.
The climb up Mt Ossa was certainly a fun one with lots of scrambling. Overall we found this one a bit easier than Cradle mountain. The chute was a fun part with the wind screaming down there. We didn't think we would get much of a view from the top but we were lucky with the clouds sometimes parting to give us a view of the surrounds.
thanks for the cache - all in good order.

This cache was on our 'really want to find' list on our visit to Tasmania and thankfully the weather was clear on the day we came to Mt Ossa on our journey down the Overland Track. We made it to the top, climbing through patches of snow and battling very strong winds on our way up. Fantastic views from the top, but as we approached GZ, our hearts sank as we realised that the cache was well hidden under a metre or so of snow. Not what you would expect in mid December and disappointed that we were unable to make the find. Still, absolutely worth the effort to make it to the top.
As we stood on the snow, the limited phone reception bought us news that a massive bushfire emergency was unfolding in our home city of Adelaide where people were experiencing a 46 degree day with strong winds. The unfound cache was quickly forgotten as we sent messages of support to friends, and checking to make sure loved ones were safe, then we made the journey back down, sliding down the snow in places and sinking knee deep in others. A most memorable experience.

We tried really hard to get to this one but fell 600m short with heavy snow just couldn’t quite make it today
Great weather and some awesome hiking up the tallest mountain is Tassie.
Beautiful views!
Beautiful views!
I made my way down to GZ from the nearby Earthcache. Sadly for me, GZ was under about 2m of snow! Hardly the kind of conditions to find a micro cache!
I guess I will have to leave this one for if I walk the Overland a third time.
Thanks anyway.

Wow - are we lucky - 4 days of sun but the ominous cloud and rain is approaching rapidly. Skiddadle now TFTC!
Yet another rainy and windy day on the Overland track but we weren't going to let it stop us climbing Mt Ossa. Spectacular dolerite and very spooky with the cloud closing in and then lifting again repeatedly while we climbed. We made it to the top, grabbed the cache and then beetled to the summit to have lunch as quickly as possible as we started to freeze . On the plus side, no muggles to contend with! Thanks melvilla
Today the weather was breaking and we hoped that the clouds would lift enough to get views. Alas the clouds didn't quite lift enough as the top was still covered but we did get great views on the way down after sitting having lunch in hope. TFTC
An awesome day climbing Mt Ossa, we we're truly luck with the weather we had throughout our whole Overland trip.
The climb to the top of Mt Ossa was SO rewarding! A nice clear sunny day, with only the slightest of breeze to keep us cool.
We made the summit and took in the view - WOW! We found ourselves higher than the cloud line in the distance, as we took in all that Mt Ossa had to offer we then made our way down to GZ for the cache.
A truely remarkable experiance & well worth the trip for (weather permitting)
Thanks for placing this here

Found this cache with Purplepeopleater on a beautiful day up the hill. Took a while but I saw something a bit different and soon had it. Did the legals and replaced as found. TFTCM. Fav point awarded.

Amazing place on the top of tassis highest mountain, specally the small lake. We met a wallaby next to the cache here... Thank's
Just one word, amazing! We had the best weather today and could see for 100s of kms. Found the cache quickly and had a wonderful time. Tftc!
The climb of mount ossa was our goal and we enjoyed it so much! We spent 5 days on the track and got a clear blue sky every day. And someone said it rains in tasmania?! All the rain clothes for nuts! tftc...glen
The best expecience to climb up the highest top in Tassie. We loved this place. Don´t miss this magic place. It´s a real heaven. TFTC!
Nice hide! didn't take too long, awesome views and walk. thanks heaps for the cache
Wow - what a spot, what a climb and what a find!! Loved every minute of the hike up to the summit of Ossa. We (Mrs Geezer and I) took our time to soak in the atmosphere before going on the hunt. Well how many rocks, rock piles and just general hiding spots could there be. A fair few. It definitely didn't take that long to locate - although I did walk around in circles, although that could just from being blinded by the amazing scenery. Wow - just wow!!
Climbed and climbed but eventually reached the summit. Gorgeous views made caching a joy, with the clue making the hide fairly straight forward. Thanks for the cache!
We climbe Mt Ossa on a perfect day while completing the overlander trail TFTC.
Yeew! What an amazing climb and view from the top of tassie! Loving life.
Pretty confident that we did find the location of the cache, there was simply no container under the pile of rocks. Looked around a bit more without success.
No problem getting up to the cloud-covered summit. On the way back, looked for this cache. Was worried when I saw how many places the cache could be, but the coordinates were dead on. Whew. Had left my pen in my pack at the trailhead, so scrawled my name (as several others had) with some sort of makeup stick--you'll see. Thanks for putting a physical cache near the summit.
As Stealth, Chip, Gronk and I were spending 12 days walking in the area, we were planning on climbing to find this cache. However sadly the weather Gods were against us today, and we did not even leave the Hut, deciding instead upon a rest day. Oh well, just an excuse to come back really!

Having a magnificent walk and yet another glorious sunny day. Good climb which culminated with a fairly large group of us on top of the peak so I had to hang back to look for the cache. Quick find although I felt I was walking where I should not be. TFTC.
Climbed ossa with my family and friends while doing the overland last week. When there was wind and rain I slightly doubted it and was going to turn back but the thought of finding GZ pulled me through. Thanks for the cache. Lucky we had phone service at the top!
What a view!!! We have got clear sky! TFTC! We leave here our trackable Ūsiņš. Team Latvia!
Great view! Found on 27dec13

Was very happy to reach the top after a hot climb up Pelion Gap, Pelion East and then Ossa. This is a wonderful walk, culminating with reaching the highest point in Tassie, and being a peak bagger I did touch the highest rock, causing my friend a certain amount of concern. There was only mist below me on the northern side, but we were lucky that it lifted to the south so we had some good views.
Nice to find a cache up here, thanks melvilla.

A great climb that we managed at the second attempt ( see GC3D7EY) and good to find a real cache along the Overland Track. Great views and beautiful white wild flowers on the plateau near the water. Another favourite cache for the view. TFTC.
I couldn't see anything but to be at the roof of tas and your cache had been worth it. Thanks
Day 3 of our Overland Track hike, in beautiful weather we climbed Mount Ossa. Stunning views, so nice to have a cache up here also! We took the Pirate coin and will take it to Europe with us Thanks for the cache!
The terrain needs to be 5 star on climbing Tasmania's highest mountain to get this one. Found it second though!Did my knee coming down and was in agony for the rest of the hike! Placed a Pirate Bones Geocoin so its worth the next person up to get my travel bug and send it on it's way. Extra incentive after climbing the first false peak only to find that there is more.

Day 4 of the OT, and still very lucky with the weather. Reached the top of Mt Ossa in cloud but happily not long afterwards it all cleared away to give fantastic views. Enjoyed the views first, and then went to look for the cache, introducing two fellow OTers to geocaching. A nice easy find. Happily there was a pencil inside as I'd forgotten to bring a pen up the mountain. TFTC.
