We knew walking in that the cache probably wasn't there .... but wanted to check out the waterfall anyway! Still couldn't help ourselves having a hunt at GZ but like others before us ... pretty sure it's not there
No luck for us here either, but a lovely waterfall. We though we were being muggled, but the arriving party had geocached before , although they have not found this one.
No luck for us with this series, as we couldn't find any of the four Caches we tried. Some harder than others, but no find and no use of tweezer for us today. Thanks for placing this along the way! the waterfall was worth the detour. And the track is in very good condition .
Came to see this waterfall a couple of years ago but the track was closed, so glad to see it had been repaired and was open again.
Nice walk to the waterfall. GeohounandI had already crossed the stream by the time we got to the bottom of the steps, where Dadypig's Assistant and I decided it looked like a "shoes off paddle time". I put my socks in my shoes and threw them at GeohoundandI, Daddypig's Assistant tried but did a "rhythmic gymnastic throw" straight up, and we watched as as her shoe came back down, bounced off a rock and landed in the stream. At least she didn't end up in the stream on her backside like she usually does.
We did find a dead goat next to the waterfall, but quite sure there wasn't a cache in there!
Looked hard on the way back, and got the gps to 2m, but no sign of anything and nothing close enough to the track to hang a cache from that we would be able to reach.
Maybe next time.

Yay. went for a wee wonder today and see the new waterfall track is open. come one come all and happy caching while exploring the beautiful Hokianga.
Was passing again today and yes big fences as track closed. will keep you posted as to when it opens again. happy caching everyone.
Sadly the track is closed for upgrades and there are big fences blocking off access.
After returning to the car, we realized there was a cache here. Quick sprint up, but could not find it, neither with the org cords nor the ones that others recomended
As per previous logs this cache needs maintenance to update the coordinates. Use S35 31.818 E173 26.472. Come butchie bum, I know you are still out there! And on top of that we could not find it , event though there was a nice obvious structure there
Our journey today bring us from Paihia along the west coast to Auckland.
By the way we found some caches.
After we searche on false coordinates we read the last logs and so we found the cache after a short searchingon the new coordinates. (Never go with an old PQ[:p]...)
Thank you for showing this place and hidding the box.
Greetings from Germany!!!

S35 31.818 E173 26.472 Used Salty coords to find the cache. Quick find by Mr P once we were at the right coords. Beautiful walk to GZ and then on to the waterfall. T4tc
Definitely worth the walk up here. Beautiful waterfall. Found using the suggested coordinates below. Tftc
I looked, and I walked back and forth, and I looked. No sooner were the words "Argh I give up" out of my mouth when "ah there it is". TFTC and the lovely bush walk.
GPS said 39 meters off, but the hint kept us on the right track. Phew. Beautiful trail and waterfall. I'd come back from Japan again just for this day!
Phone bouncing about, so a bit confused where gz should be & didn't see an obvious spot, so carried on & enjoyed the waterfall. So thanks FTC anyway & leading the way to this cool place!
" bumping" pazabellas coords for a better try next time... S35 31.818 E173 26.472
This was a lovely walk up to the falls....Very quiet and peaceful up here. We didn't go any further than the falls. Unfortunately the wire broke but i managed to wedge the cache into a root at same spot.
Thank you for bringing the falls to our notice and the walk up there and looking at the different trees growing around there.

I first tried the published coords, then the hint, and finally a PF's coords. The latter got me close, and when I came back from the waterfall, I spotted the tricky cache. TFTC.
A lovely walk here. Found it from Grahame Cookie coords which were 34 meters from published coords.

We didn't expect to find this one with 2 DNF's but with quite a bit of perseverance it was found. Like the last cache it was well camouflaged. We searched what we thought was the obvious place then looked at previous logs for clues. Found another place that fitted the clue and voila there it was. A pretty waterfall and a lovely bush walk in. Most enjoyable. Thanks for this lovely adventure
Good to be in the bush again. Great spot and lovely waterfall. It took a bit of hunting as there were two possible zones. I knew gps wasn't going to be spot on in the bush but it was nice to here Lis say "Found it". TFTC
I had a pretty thorough search around what I assume was GZ (GPS was all over the place but seemed to settle on the creek itself) but was wary of causing damage and in the end had to give up. Still well worth visiting this fantastic walk.
GPS was quite a bit off. We had to move on to the next possible location before a decently quick find.

Only in Oponini for the one night (somehow we managed to find "Ryan's Retreat" great place to stay) so it was up at 5:45 for me to attempt the Golden Cirlce while the rest of the family got up whenever and had a leisurely breakfast. Managed to get to the final bonus and back in time to leave at ten - snuck in a Kauri Grove and Hollow on the way too.
Thanks for showing us this lovely Waterfall, would be an impressive sight after a bit of rain, took a few photos. A thoroughly enjoyable bush walk, found with Yeetrees, TFTC.
Wow - this was a tough one but eventually did find it!
I enjoyed the walk to the area and good hide.

#852 On the way to this cache, the batteries on the GPS died and my phone had no signal (not that it's very useful under tree cover!) Luckily we were only 60m away and had read the hint. Initially started searching in the wrong area but soon realised where we were wrong and then spotted the cache straight away. Beautiful waterfall! Thanks so much for bringing us here- didn't know it existed! Will be back to do the longer loop another day with more batteries and a bit more daylight hours up our sleeve.
2050 GAFF2 Is when I finally found, tho I headed on into the Falls well before dark. Had a further x 2 DNFs up the track, and was very glad that there had not been significant rain for a few days, as the track further up would have been very interesting.
The GPSr wanted me to go off piste, but I stayed up and had a long search at the first spot I thought may have been suitable for the Hint. On the way back, just after sunset, but had to use the headlight, I found another spot that would suit the hint and had a look there. After a short rest back at the car I headed back, to the second search area, and moved away a touch more, and finally found the cache. Tho I thought that it had last been signed in January I could be wrong on that.
I was wondering what a 'Mirco' cache would look like, so now I know Tho I didn't find 20 to compare them.
I did a 'reposition here' on the GPSr, which is just a rough positioning, but it may help others.
Another for the Night Caching elective in the end.
Brought through for mileage: 3 Bros, Aust Light Houses, BEAGLE BIXBY, B 2 B ingot, BROWN BEAR 15, Coin of Danmark, CRDAVIS-Scottish Thistle Geocoin, Fishing Bell TB, GoLeo Travel Bug Dog Tag, Iconic Bridges, land rover TB, Lil' Miss TB, cache critters Baa, Neigh Neddy, and Oink, PAP, Rienan TB, Spooky, steben6's DNF Duo - Super Cacher Geocoin, Trakabulldog geocoins, and trackable shirt.
TFTC Butchie bum, and nice to catch up at the Event

Today is the day to travel from Ohaeawai to Opononi to do the Golden Circle series and any other caches nearby.
My GPS had me 36m away from the actual GZ. Lucky I read the previous logs.
Cheers for the cache.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
We were visiting family in Whangarei, together with HOLE-IN-ONE2 from the UK. Decided to go for a day trip up North and arrived near the "Golden Circle" series towards the end of the day, so we made a start on it. Didn't have time to complete the series before the stomach started grumbling and was satisfied with a Hokianga Burger at the Opononi Takeaways! Will have to come back another time. Co-ordinates were a bit off here, but we still quickly found the cache following the hint - nice hide! Thanks for the cache!

Nice walk up to waterfall, not much water in river but falls quite impressive i wonder where all the water goes Doing part of golden circle with phasevisitor before returning home to UK .TFTC
Like some of the other logs, found the coords a bit off on this one - but quick find by following the hint.

Not spotted on our way up the track but soon in hand on our way back. Co-ords were way off in with steep sided surrounds. Once we'd figured which steps to make reference to we widened our search area. It's amazing what can be right in front of your eyes when your not looking for it! T4TC!
What a beautiful walk. Spent too long finding the cache, as my gps was bouncing all over the place. Once I worked out it was halfway between the main steps and the bridge......it was easy! Intend returning to do the 5 hour walk.
The last of our Golden Circle - what a great series Sue - we have so enjoyed seeing your 'paradise' in more detail. The track was pretty good although wet in places but we managed without any slips or slides!! Great waterfall too
Well this was a bit of an adventure, the track definitely looked a bit dodgy at times but with care we found the waterfall. Great spot and well worth the walk in, TFTC and the series Butchie...great fun and got to see some spots we wouldn't have visited without caching.
Lovely walk. Coordinates not so accurate due to tree/fern canopy but description bang-on and had no problems finding it. Thanks for the cache.
Stopped in the right place,. Stopped to check GPS and turned around and there it was. Nice place.
Arrived at GZ and needed the hint for this. Scoured the area but my cacher's eye appeared not to be fully tuned today.

Ran half the track until I came across muggles walking and realised if I raced passed them I would be searching when they walked by. Decided to slow down and allow them to move past first. Got to what I thought was GZ when more muggles came by, spied the cache as they left, signed the log and ran back out before anymore muggles could trundle by. TFTC

Starting to rain now so will return on a finer day. Hope we've got all the numbers!!
Bugger! Nice walk up the waterfall, and a pretty waterfall at the end too, but the GPS was all over the place due to the steeply sided gully and the dense foliage. Had both the Oregon and the 60csx going but neither could track down this one. Was looking for a hole that the cache would be hidden in (as per the hint at the time) but found out a bit later that it wasn't exactly hidden that way after all, doh! That's another story though... Anyway, a couple of DOC guys were there doing some work on the track and when I came out they had closed it for tree felling...
Back again with the cache owner, who muggled me out when I was attempting to find the Golden Circle bonus cache. This one it turns out was hidden slightly differently than described and with that info it wasn't too tricky to find this time around. Really lovely walk and will be great when DOC have finished their repairs and upgrades to the track! FTF #1066 TFTC!!!
