Logs
On a trip up north with the Westie girls. With the right tool we soon had cache in hand. sneaky hide.Fav point.
On a caching journey up to the north with Supernannny and Net61 to find some caches. Many kilometres were driven over a few days and many caches were found. Thanks to all the cache owners for the placements. Quickly spotted the black cable tie. Used a TOTT to extract the cache. We signed our names and saw that SN was the last to sign the log. TFTC Unfortunately the museum was closed today. We will have to come back and check it out another time.
Thanks very much butchie bum for replacing the missing log here so promptly.Cool place to hide it...
Looks like a previous visitor has been overzealous with replacing the bag, tweezers too small to retrieve but it's certainly in there, just really far back
Sunday today, no one around so we had a good time trying to find this cache, looking at every angle because we couldn't make sense of the clue or any previous logs. Spent about 20 mins looking around the whole site, but had to admit defeat in the end. TFTC
This one was a bit of a challenge and deserves a favourite because of that. We searched for quite a while, were confused by the hint and did not really get inspiration from previous logs. Was going to give up but admit to contacting the CO for further guidance. In the nick of time and just before a text arrived with an extra hint we saw a potential hide and their it was.
Shame the Museum couldn't open - short of staff.

Doing a maintenance run with the CO.
I’m on a roadie north to complete the PWGT and find other interesting caches - oldies, puzzles and ones at interesting places.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache butchie bum.

Woohoo, thanks for my first find! Log is way to wet to sign though but photo attached for proof
Hint is interesting. These bombs are tethered by a thin thread?! "Well guarded" by the totem? Dunno. We gave it 20 minutes but no cigar... Good luck. Perhaps needs maintenance .
Its off to check out the museum and snag another Golden Circle. Cheers.
Day 8, Thursday 27 January - from Tokerau Beach dropping down leaving Zara in KeriKeri. Then exploring Kaikohe, Opononi and Omapere with Toby and Lenny, before returning to Zara in KeriKeri. The fishy series this morning before leaving Tokerau B. Lots to do so lets get moving!
Zara, Toby, Lenny and I are on our North Island expidition for a couple of weeks. Got The Seagnoid along for the first 4 days, heading to the Auckland Mega. PWGTs and TMGTs are on the radar for this trip. Lots of driving on gravel roads and visited lots of amazing places on our 6000km road trip snagging 200+ caches along the way. Visiting Cape Reinga, Bay of Islands, Gisborne and White Rock along our journey. Another awesome trip. Thanks to all CO's.

I seem to be having a 50% find rate on this COs circle series. After a 15 minute look in the bushes, along the fences I got nothing.
Stopped in here to check cache after the dnf's on my page and today being 5/5/2021 its bingo as sneaky little fella still in place.
Roadtrip time, day 8.
I have used the Easter weekend combined with taking 4 days leave this week to get in a 9-day driving tour, hoping to get as far north as 90 mile beach in order to seek the recently published PWGT caches throughout Northland, as well as catch up with 4 different sets of friends.
Having spent last night at the campground in Opononi, I knew today would be a bit of a mad dash to try to get up to Pukenui and then back down to Kaiwaka by this evening, especially with the section of SH1 between Okaihau and Kaitaia still out of action due to a slip. I knew I would see a lot of SH10 today.
But whilst I was here I thought I would take the time to see how well I did with this "Golden Circle" series of caches. As it turned out, I had a very mixed set of results. Some were straightforward finds and others left me scratching my head.
Sadly though this was another DNF for me. I spent about 10 minutes trying to search through all the nearby shrubbery but without success. A lady came out from the museum, so I had to explain what I was doing and she thought it might be in the Totem, but it wasn't. This one is most likely a case of me not finding it rather than it not being there so I don't think the CO should worry unduly about this one.

That was great we’ve had trouble finding one of the others so we are happy we found this one
Found despite GPS being off and the hint made no sense to where we located... lovely spot here at the end of our coast to coast road trip tftc
The chosen cache for kiwitrecker1 and I to reflect the western end of our coast to coast travels today. We arrived after the museum was closed but we’ll definitely be returning in the future. Felt we were a bit lucky to locate this but sharp eyes spotted it, it’s being well guarded! TFTC!
Found with flossieteacake. Didnt really get the hint but found it anyway. Log was damp and could use a new ziplock bag.
Used the hint because the GPS was all over the place, and put us right in the middle of the carpark at one point. No idea how a fine thread came into this, but after finding other caches which used fishing wire I thought I had spotted it. No I hadn't but the fence no longer has any cobwebs on it!
Luckily GeohoundandI spotted it. The log was wet despite the heat, so was tricky to sign.

Great spot however paper has been ruined by the rain. Unfortunately I didnt have any paper to replace.
Another day out exploroing the wet and dirty back roads of Northland and enjoying the scenery.
After getting a message from the CO earlier in the day and a bit of a nudge I came back here this avo and signed off the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

Unfortunately too difficult to locate with lots of people around and an ambiguous clue...

Tramyard and I headed up north on a roadtrip to find the Northland geotour caches. We would have been up this way last weekend if I wasn't completing a half-marathon for charity and tramyard wasn't at a competition.
We stayed near Opononi last night and were heading back to Auckland via the west coast. Tramyard told me that this cache was worth the stop, so we visited here on our way. It was way too early on Sunday morning for anyone to be around, which allowed me to search. My phone GPS sent me spinning in circles, but tramyard helped me with a game of hot and cold so I could narrow down my search area. I soon located the cache. Very snearky and hard to spot with the rising sun.

We wanted more finds for today's calendar date, so we planned a trip to Opononi to find some of the Golden Circle Series. Rain was forecast but it mostly held off until our last few finds, though the very strong winds were challenging at times! Some of the finds had us hunting for a while, but we had no DNFs until the last cache on our list.
The Museum was closed today. There didn't seem to be anything at the coords, so we widened the search a little, but still no luck. It began to rain a little harder so we retreated to the car while we read back through past logs. Another type of hide occurred to us, so one of us got out to check. He immediately gave the thumbs up. Nice hide, and coords not too bad after all. TFTC

Today we travelled from Rawene to Whangarei and picked up several caches along the way. We didn't stop at all of them, we couldn't find all the ones we searched for but we found a view and loved the places shown to us. That's what geocaching is about! Thanks to all the CO's for hiding and maintaining them!
Didn't even find the thread....

We think we have found it, but the cache too much hidden so we could not get it out. We send picture to the owner
Northland Day 1: We drove up from Auckland to Hokianga today, passing through the Hibiscus Coast before heading across to Kaipara District and then into the Hokianga Harbour. Stopped by various beautiful regions along the way to take in the views, and of course, there was always room a few cache finds... well, not a few Thanks to all the COs along the way for showing us the lovelier parts of the Northland!
The following is the specific log for each cache:
Last cache of the day and the closest to the accommodation. When getting out of the car, I was confused that the GPSr was showing 0 metres. My Mother was taking a few photos while I wandered around and when I looked at what she was shooting, I saw the cache. How funny... all good here, so TFTC!

Today we had a trip from Kaitaia to Dargaville, thereby visiting many locations especially near Kauri forest and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was good all day long, but it got more and more cloudy in the afternoon.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to 'butchie bum' for showing us this location and for the fun we had at 'Golden Circle Series "Musuem" (NOrthland)'. The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

TFTC....On a road trip across New Zealand and enjoying this area, visiting from Sask. Canada
Out on a mission today, to collect as many caches as possible toward the Hidden Creatures souvenirs. With very few unfound local caches, a decent journey was required. Left at dawn and covered over 300km through the winding gravel back roads of Northland, passing through Twin Bridges, Donnelley's Crossing, Waipoua forest, Omapere, Opononi and Taheke, before the heavy rain finally set in. This heavy rain, combined with the sunset, put a halt to further searching, so had to settle in the end for 29 finds and 7 DNFs for the day.
At Omapere now, so time to look for as many here as possible. Pulled up to the museum carpark in a squally shower and immediately had several sets of eyes on me from the neighbouring property. Once they had gone inside and the rain had eased again, I set about looking. there was only really a couple of likely possibilities, but it still took a couple of minutes before the tricky wee blighter was spotted. Took the cache back to the wagon to sign the log as these small ones sometimes take a bit of putting back. Once that was accomplished, made a casual walk back past GZ and replaced the cache without the muggle neighbours noticing anything. TFTC

This morning we had some pouring rain so we decided to visit the local museum. Even arrived before it opened so we had enough time to extract this little sneaky hide. TFTC

A circle at the western coast with 2 handfuls of caches sounds very tempting- we're giving it a try
Well found

Yay I can now turn that frown upside down. A quick easy find this morning with no-one around. Thanks for the maintenance. TFTC.

We found the cache on the grass... Put it back into that wood sculpture, but not sure whether this is the original place. Maybe the owner should have a look on it.
