WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 43 - York to Wandering via Beverly and some vary back roads. It was straight back to Beverly, to then get on a new road heading South West. This gave me a good go at few Wandoo caches before trying some road option google wanted, but tomtom was not so keen on. This seemed to mean dirt. Despite the rain, both sections were firm, and I even managed one cache out in the who knows where before arriving in Wandering. Once set up I wandered around town, if you can call a council town with no shops a town, for the Labs and a couple of other caches. After a quirt afternoon doing logs, it was off to the tavern for dinner. At least there was a good crowd there.Once I reached this new section of road, it was back to roadside caching while carefully placing the van out of the way. It was not very busy, just a huge tractor at one point. All the caches found were in good condition except one. Thanks for the cache Keego_and_Chil47551.14 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 12 Days of Caching 2007 Gold A#87**Albida**
Out on a weekend caching with Jaypre Quick grabOut with the bundy bear in with a squishy Dino TFTH
Out to do a few more of the wandoo series with MitchDem today and tomorrow, easy find, TFTC
Decided with goingplaces2 to pick up a few of this series before we left town. This one was buried but we still found it. TFTC.
Before leaving Beverley it was decided to pick up some birds in this series, along with ilook4geo. This was one of the ones we caught. But it took some hard work as the local insect life had buried it and the dirt around and over it was very well compacted. Needed a strong digging tool to get it out. Thanks for this series go to Keego_and_Chil.
Time to get some more Wandoo Smileys.
After a trip to Perth on the return detoured and found 8 more Wandoo Caches.
All were in good order and dry.
Thanks for placing them here so I can break my journey up. TFTC.

Out with ICNothing Kapelula and the two kids on our Kulin road trip… Sone logs signed as MIK, picking up caches along the way…
Found whilst heading out to Kulin for IGD weekend with I C Nothing and Meme28. Some logs signed as MIK.
With the rain stopping for the day I thought Id race out and continue the Wandoo series today. Blue skies and fresh temps keeping me motivated to do as much as I can for today! The road is nice and quiet today which allows me to drive like a granny between stops. Thanks for placing this series for us to enjoy
Out with Chwiliwr for a maintenance run of his Wandoo caches and also doing some maintenance of these Wandoo caches placed by Keego and Chil. Where it was necessary he replaced containers and/or logs and then I signed the log. All this section is now OK to be found.
Thanks Keego and Chil for placing these caches for me to find.
Thanks Keego and Chil for placing these caches for me to find.
I overnighted in York and today I slowly made my way through Beverley and some of the Wandoo series towards Brookton Highway. Nice sunny day for caching but with a strong wind.
The log was dry and I could sign. The lid was broken, so I replaced it. Should be good for a while.

Found with Whitburn2321 a couple of weeks ago, forgot to log the find, cheers for the cache
Quick park and grab , signed the log but was damp. Won't survive too much more rain I think
Left home in the wheatbelt to do a trip to metro area which normally takes around two hours; but today it took 6 hours with a plan of getting 63 caches but time got the better of us and only did 36 caches along WestDale road and Brookton highway. Some interesting finds but sadly 3 DNF’s.
Cheers for being the runner Prycee2709, get through them a lot quicker with a driver and runner.
Long day hunting now logging all of today’s caches, sorry for generic logs.
Thanks for the Wandoo series.

Yep, let out briefly from Covid-19 isolation area closure, just a wee bit of exercise and fresh air. I had a geocaching driver and decided to do a few of the Wandoo series which is located not far from the farm who kindly allowed us to stay during the lockdown when we had nowhere else to go.
The cache was nowhere to be found, I widened the search and found a plastic bag the same as the one at the previous cache, but it was empty! Looking around a bit more the cache was located by the side of the road in the open. I signed the log and returned the cache to the place I considered was its spot.

A last Wandoo before turning towards York had me make the find again. Catching up to my wife now, she is still ahead though 3-2
Thanks for the cache Keego_and_Chil. Found at 11:34:00 AM it was cache number 2937 for me and was number 5 in my run of 13 finds and 0 DNFs for today's geocaching effort.
Cheers
Spent the day trying to finish off this series. I was expecting more leaf litter hiding the caches but most were quick finds. Lots of different camos and a few that made me think twice. Only 6 dnfs because of fire or verge clearing. Tftc.
Sorry to report: lid has crack; ants have build nest underneath GZ.
Out this way finding a few more in this series. Thank you Keego_and_Chil

We had been in the area completing the Wandoo Animal series followed by some of the Wandoo Mineral series until we came to the turning to our long drive home. As I counted my finds for the day I realised that I could beat my PB if I just found a few more caches. It also helped break up the journey. It was a very quick find.

Headed off early to finish of this series with Parkacruz, we managed to only have one dnf and an adventure to try and claim the bonus box. We have learnt that you shouldn't go into the bush after a heavy rain !!!! We also learnt that if a wooden bridge looks slippery, it is. But we had a great day with many laughs.
Out for another fun filled day with Neva2old to finish off the Wandoo series and others in the area, happy to say a smiley was added here TFTC
Thank you! I headed out with papillon367 to finish off this series. The two of us managed to locate most caches without too much trouble, and it was a great day for a drive.
Ullyssia and I teamed up for a full day of caching to finish the Wandoo series that we had started in January. We completed the "bird" series and found all the minerals. Most caches were quick finds as the coordinates were spot on. Thank you for the hide and for the series Keego_and_Chil.
Maybe emu would have been more suitable. I wonder if there is a story here. Tftc.
Our group started this series on a hot Australia Day, but finally had a chance to come back today to finish the trail of smileys. There are still three to be found, but overall we are happy with efforts! Today's weather was a bit kinder to the group and we had a great time - split into two groups of kids vs adults to see who would have the most finds at the end of the day, and I'm happy to report that us adults won! Thanks for the effort that has gone into creating and maintaining this series!
The car was barely parked, and the youngest geonephew was out the car and ran so fast to the gz...even though he tripped he still beat me by a bit! Later on in the car though, he realised he had accidently taken the cache back with him in the car and we had to drop it off on the way back home.

We began this series with muskcat83 and janssej back on australia day in scorching 41°C! We finally made it back today in 17°C temperatures. Tftc
Monts decided today was a good day for geocaching as he wanted uninterrupted napping, due to keeping me awake most of the night. TFTC Keego_and_Chil
Today while camping in the area we decided to head for York for lunch and took the opportunity with 2Clueless to grab some more caches from this series. All caches found in good condition.

Out caching around the Area.
Had very heavy rain during the early morning.
Thought we would do some of this series on our way home.

A call went out and a plan was hatched to tackle the Wandoo series. Very early this morning we joined forces with WebblyWA to see how we would fair and with the expectation that it would be good to complete at least half the series. We started and just cached, cached and cached finishing 11.5 hours later with 138 finds and the series completed apart from one that is temp disabled. Had a great day and a huge thanks to the CO's and those that maintain the series. Sorry for the mostly generic logs.

January's challenge mission for me was to collect at least 300 caches. Knowing I could get almost half way there with one series, I put out a call to see who would like to join me on an epic WANDOO day and Team Fratra was up for it so plans were made. We met up early collecting the first cache at 6.45am. Completing the series 11 and a half hours later, with No DNFs and only one glitch left on the map of a cache that is currently disabled. My total for the day finished up with a few extras at 140 as darkness, wind and rain set in.
It was a wonderful day and we had great weather for the majority of the day. Massive thanks to the COs and everyone that has put work into maintaining the series.
Cache #56 for the day. TNLN

A big day out with Oshiel and Jjjzellis to finish the bird sequence of the Wandoo series. TFTC This was find number 18 of the day. The cache was in good order.
Another fun find with Just-Lookin while on a 3 week geocaching trip around the Perth area.
We really enjoyed the drive around finding some of the wandoo series of caches.

Out to complete a few more caches in the Wandoo series today. I thought the weather would catch up with me sometime during the day but I seemed to be lucky and missed all the rain. I found the first cache at 10:46 and the last one at 17:35 before calling it a day. All in all There was sixty three finds and three DNF's, so a fairly successful day. This was find number sixteen for the day and was a fairly quick find Thanks keego and chil for the cache.
Found on a nice winter’s day with Le Boof, during our second run at this trail. Thanks for getting us out to towns near to Perth that we should visit more often.
Found quickly, cache in good condition.

Out today to complete the Wandoo series. It has taken us 4 trips so far and today we had a few minerals and birds to go.
It was a great day for it. We loved the variety of containers, types of hides and the great drive through the countryside.
We ended missing a couple of letters, so we still have to work out the bonus box.

Due to the +40 heat predicted today, The Wandoo series was highest on the geocaching list. This was due to being mostly park and grab, therefore it was 50/50 between air conditioning and searching.
Had a great day and really enjoyed it with over 100 finds and a couple of DNF's. Thanks for your effort Keego and Chil

With a week touring around Perth, some time obviously had to be made for caching out here on the west coast. I started the day off slowly today with some short hikes, and then by lunchtime had decided to attempt a solo 100-caches-in-day.
This quick find was a real drive-by .
This was #71 of 105 today (DNFs = 1 so far).
Thanks for the work in the series, Keego and Chil, and thanks to all the COs who set out the Wandoo series.

A lovely (but warm) day for a spot of geocaching and introducing another friends to the fun of it. Decided to tackle a chunk of the "birds" leg of this series TFTH
Thanks for another great cache. We parked at the nearby corner of the York-Williams Rd. Had fun trying to guess which spot as we walked towards it!

Day 3
We intended to find the remaining caches in the series today so that only the bonus box would be left for the journey home on Sunday. Once again there was hardly any traffic on the roads so we quickly polished off the remaining minerals on our way to Beverley to get petrol. Then back up to Yarra road, where the dust & heat defeated us yesterday, to round up the last 10 animals & a leisurely return to Beverley to net all the birds. sounds O.K. but we encountered our first DNF of the series & it must contain a vital clue as we never did come across an 'M'.
Another excellent day. Thanks for the scenery, the flowers, the trees, the minerals, the animals, the birds, the weather, oh and the caches.

Well I think the civilised way to do this series. M4yb, Me&B and I headed out in the Geoyota Ute for a drive from Yarra Rd to end in York for the night and come home with the others of the series.
Thanks Keego and Chil

At last our return to this great series! We: Me&B, megawat60 and I, together with the GeoUte, had a great week-end of caching doing these. Most caches were found quickly, some took a few more minutes because of clever camo or placement.
My gratitude goes to the CO's of these caches, for all the hard work in planning, placing and maintaining these caches. TFTC K&C!

I teamed up with megawat60 and m4yb (well they let me tag along really!) for a weekend of caching to catch some smilies and finish this series which we had started at the end of last year. The weather was a little damp but we had a warm car to climb back into and seeing the Australian bush wearing her prettiest Spring-carneval-outfit was food for the soul.
All were nice easy finds with some pretty containers in between to keep us interested.
Thanks for the series guys, the effort you all put in is very much appreciated.

Parked on top of a bull-ant nest then flushed a barn owl out of the tree. The cache was quickly found and in great condition.
