Returning back from working in Gisborne and breaking the trip up by staying at my best friends place up the back of OngaOnga - her place is a big old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere surrounded by bush and a stream, and it is my recharging stationAnother opportunity to fulfil my side quest of lonely and multi dnf caches, with this one being 387days since last found. Easy enough find and cache in good condition. Pic taken of the old and new bridges. Mihi ki a koe mo te keteroki #381
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… We’re on a big Easter weekend excursion visiting Vikings and anything else in between.
Easter Saturday: Another glimpse of the Manawatu in torchlight… A quick, straight forward find - Thanks Skindo. TFTC.

Cant believe this is the Manawatu River, which flows through my home town of Palmerston North. Tipped out what little water was inside done my best to dry content and log, on this really hot day for 10 - 15mins, while i explored the old bridge and took photo on my phone trying to get best angle of old and new bridge together and the river. No driving muggles. Cache placed back. Thank you for the cache.
Drive to P.N. on this back road to find a few caches. Found a blackberry vine as well as the cache, singed log and placed back as found. What a lovely, peaceful place. I haven't seen a muggle while driving on this road. Gave a favorite.
I decided to use the opportunity of having a quiet few days off work over Xmas to drive over to the Hawkes Bay in order to be a cacher in that region for the first time.
This one took a few minutes of hunting around before I made the find, but then I was initially distracted by exploring under the bridge. Cache was nicely hidden away in accordance with the Hint. On opening the container, there was nothing untoward found with the log, which was signed before the whole lot was replaced back where I found it.
Thanks for setting this cache up, and I wish you a happy and prosperous 2021

I have enjoyed watching the Mighty Manawatu River diminish in size as I go further upstream.
Cheers for the cache.

#8048. Well actually Infoferret found it. We had just travelled back from Gisborne where the rain had arrived overnight and soaked all our plans for the day. We gave up and headed south stopping for some food and a coffee in Wairoa to spread some city $$ into the provinces. Finally reached Hawkes Bay and the rain was just as bad as in Gisborne. So we kept driving south. We are stopping for the night at Dannevirke. I had some plans to pick up a few skindo caches around Waipukurau and Norsewood. But daylight was running out and the rain wasn't when we got here. So we kept on driving until we got to this side road near Norsewood. IF jumped out of the car and headed over to the bridge in the rain. Of course I had to stay in the car in case someone drove up and I needed to move it. Well that's my story and I am sticking to it. IF soon had cache in hand and log signed. Thanks for the cache Skindo.
1 June 2020 16:50. Last find of the day as the light is fading. Now to find the motel, dry clothes (it has been pouring down all day and I am soaked!) and something to eat. TFTC
Staying at Anzac Park in Norsewood for a couple of days and decided today that I would drive out in the back roads in my 7.6m Campervan, abit hesitate about the parking, but all the caches had enough parking, a nice morning drive. The log was wet, so I replaced it with a new log and another plastic bag
Deviated from our usual route home around SH2 to visit Ormondville and some caches. Heard the monastery bell ring but didn’t see it. Beautiful spot.
wow those blackberry gave me a hard time
We are away in our campervan just cruising the manawatu to Waiarapa then on to Hawkes Bay and return. During our tour we enjoyed travelling the quiet roads away from the main state highways. we enjoyed the bike trails around the Napier to Clifton and the inland trails up to Hastings and beyond, many of these trails of course were extra special because they had geocaches placed along them. Many thanks to all those who look after the caches. We hope you enjoy the same when you come into our area.
Sorry about the cut and paste if you have more than one geocache that we had found

I guess when yoiu replace small bridges here, you just leave the old one to crumble by itself... gives us something to look at though

The next trip out from Norsewood while i am there for a few days each week. Today it was over to Ormondville and a little beyond to locate these last caches in this area leaving just the Norsewood cemetery to find the final!
This was an interesting spot seeing the old concrete bridge that is still there beside the newer one. The cache was quickly located thanks to the hint signed and replaced. Thank you for this cache and another smiley face.

Day 14 of our North Is trip, time to leave sunny Hawke's Bay (now that the sun is shining ) and head for Wellington.
We parked on the other side of the bridge and walked back, so got good views of the old bridge. Looks like nature is reclaiming it. TFTC.

On a mission to find 50 caches in one day all at least 1 km apart. Left Hastings in the morning and collected the required 50 by the time we had reached Masteron. Mission achieved. Thanks for placing this cache and enabling us to complete our mission.
