Returning back from working in Gisborne and breaking the trip up by staying at my best friends place up the back of OngaOnga - her place is a big old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere surrounded by bush and a stream, and it is my recharging stationI was heading south so theres just enough room to squeeze the van off the road at the GZ for safe parking. Otherwise Id imagine its a bit of a walk if youre heading north. Beautiful view from the top of the hill. Cache in good nick. Mihi ki a koe mo te keteroki #384
I had just made the find here when I noticed an increasingly loud rumble approaching. I waited expectantly thinking I had timed this one perfectly to photograph a train crossing the viaduct. Sadly, it wasn't an actual train but a "train" of 20+ Harley-Davidsons on a long weekend ride. Cache in great condition, apart from slight damage to the lid which seems to not be an issue. TFTC
I'm on a wee road trip to southern Hawkes Bay (or is to northern Wairarapa?) on an attempt to clear the Vikings Geoart, with a bit of freedom camping down at the coast. (Apologies for the generic logging)Today it's clearing the second half, starting from Prangahau, up over Te Uri Road and then back home down through the Wairarapa (where there's a couple of new challenges to grab on the way).Well, my screen protector did it's job as I dropped my phone when getting out the car.All good here and TFTC.Find #6300 at 9 January 2024 10:48 am
A little detour from our journey to grab a few caches. After a short search cache was in hand. Tftc
Great views indeed but we didn't spend a lot of time observing the technicalities of it all because there was really only one thing we were interested in and when we had signed that we were off again. TFTC # 20,018
we were unable to see the viaduct in the dark.
had no problem locating this cache.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… We’re on a big Easter weekend excursion visiting Vikings and anything else in between.
Easter Friday: After dinner at a local takeaway, we headed north again to tackle a loop of caches outside of the Viking trail… The beauty of visiting this place at night was an empty roadway and ease of access to this cache. The trade off had to be the endless darkness. The viaduct must be an impressive sight. Thanks Skindo. TFTC.

We wondered why this hadn't been found for a year, but all good, maybe it's just not the easiest place to stop.
Another find on this back road while driving to P.N. Found after second hint was searched. No trains went over the viaduct while I was at GZ. Cheers
Easy find, thanks Skindo for bringing in to some wonderful countryside. Lots of lambs around.
Rick-a-mortis was here OZR3RZ
Awesome view of the viaduct today
Thank you for bringing me here

Maybe we were going the wrong way but we had to park up the road a bit-nice qwik find tho & a great view
I decided to use the opportunity of having a quiet few days off work over Xmas to drive over to the Hawkes Bay in order to be a cacher in that region for the first time.
It only took a moment of hunting around before I made the find. Cache was nicely hidden away in accordance with the Hint, although I couldn't tell if an over-enthusiastic cacher or a barmy bird had stuffed the location with grass and straw! On opening the container, there was nothing untoward found with the log, which was signed before the whole lot was replaced back where I found it, only without all the nest building material.
Thanks for setting this cache up, and I wish you a happy and prosperous 2021

Today was the day for a big adventure out to Ormondville by a roundabout way of getting there signing off a few caches on the way.
That is a nice BIG bridge..
Cheers for the cache.

Not only a good spot for a cache, but also a photo, walked a little further down, and saw a rafter of turkeys, making a hell of a noise, the replaced with log as the other was wet
Thanks for showing us the cool views of the viaduct. Enjoyed our drive out this way. ThanksFTC
Deviated from our usual route home around SH2 to visit Ormondville and some caches. Beautiful scenery. Cache all fine.
We are away in our campervan just cruising the manawatu to Waiarapa then on to Hawkes Bay and return. During our tour we enjoyed travelling the quiet roads away from the main state highways. we enjoyed the bike trails around the Napier to Clifton and the inland trails up to Hastings and beyond, many of these trails of course were extra special because they had geocaches placed along them. Many thanks to all those who look after the caches. We hope you enjoy the same when you come into our area.
Sorry about the cut and paste if you have more than one geocache that we had found

Decided it was another good day to go looking for caches, plus needing to find a cache to welcome in the new year was a must do as well, packing up our bags and a picnic for some stage of the trip and headed for some caches started our journey back to Danneverke where we have been staying for the past week, quick easy find, signed the log and replaced back exactly where found. thanks for the cache.
Ashonishing views here.

Down in the area for a rest with friends and for some caching. The are some interesting caches to be found. TFTC
I have travelled past this spot twice in this last 6 months and have never seen the viaduct - maybe that was because I was travelling north and returned to the south on a different road. But I did find the cache today. TFTC
#5840. Day 2 of the mid-winter road trip into the back blocks of the Wairarapa and southern Hawkes Bay. The team (Ethness, Infoferret and I ) camped overnight in Dannevirke (OK it wasn't really camping as we all had comfortable beds and it was inside a nice motel). But it was base camp for the night. After a number of new caches were published overnight the team got sidetracked and seduced by the chance of a series of first to finds over by the Manawatu Gorge. But the whip was cracked and the team dutifully headed off east to pick up more skindo caches. Heading back to the main highway now. had no idea there was a viaduct on this road. Must be my first time along this country road. Quick find here by Ethness. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding the cache here skindo.
I am out this way at schools and so after school or lunch i can pop out and locate a few other caches around in the area, Today being such a lovely day it was a drive out to ormondville but not enough time for the multis so they can wait until later in the week... I took a photo of the viaduct from the cache here which i will log also. thank you for these caches around this way and a few more smiley faces. .
We left Kapiti with its cold, windy often wet summer behind to find some better weather in sunny Hawkes Bay. Looking for a few caches of course, and sometimes finding them in areas we have not been before. This was one was picked up on our journey. A quick find whilst on a pleasant drive through lovely scenery. Tftc.
Day 14 of our North Is trip, time to leave sunny Hawke's Bay (now that the sun is shining ) and head for Wellington.
Good view of the viaduct as promised. Looked like it is a favourite hangout for seagulls. TFTC.

Leaving late today which normally isn't a very good idea when trying to cover the wairapa it was a 10am start with a 6.30pm finish, big thank you skindo I have covered most roads in the wairapa thanka to your caches today I was flying solo and had hope to get about 30, thanks to the weather that didn't pan out later in the afternoon so had to come back through weber which is quite a long drive even when your not stopping for caches.
Great views of the viaduct on approach. Pretty hairy parking at this spot. Picked up a pathtag. TFTC

Found this one today. It was a quick find which was lucky as I had illegally parked here. Signed log and continued onwards!

WE LIKE DRIVING THE BACK COUNTRY ROADS, SOME OF THE SCENERY LIKE THE VIEWS HERE A WORTH THE DRIVE. FOUND LOGGED AND REPLACE IN NO TIME. TFTC
The drive into this site was quite impressive.
Nice to drive a little back road loop that would not have featured on my itinerary pre-caching.

wow what a great location. great spot to take photos. although while admiring the view i was almost attached by a giant bee
What do you do when you find you have a surprisingly free weekend.... Plan a caching weekend away of course! After loading up the car very full, Tommygun9, Veebee001, yuyito_lindo and I headed off to Havelock North for the weekend to collect some caches and enjoy the sites.
I love taking these roads out the back of nowhere and finding great spots and views like this. TFTC

Continuing with the winter series of caching, and now for the shortest day of the year.
Now on our way to the Bay.
Doing back blocks skindo style - good view of the 'duct.
Cache find proved to be straightforward, all in order; log signed, then safely re-hidden. Just as you do.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

On a mission to find 50 caches in one day all at least 1 km apart. Left Hastings in the morning and collected the required 50 by the time we had reached Masteron. Mission achieved. Thanks for placing this cache and enabling us to complete our mission.
Part of the mission with Team Welsh to get 50 caches 1 Km apart. WOw, what a view across the valley. t4tc
Found on my way home from a function in Hastings this afternoon. Thanks for the cache.
A nice view of the viaduct, well worth the slight detour to see.
Left a pet rock - a rabbit. TFTC

Have crossed the viaduct in the train but this was a different view, although a bit misty in the rain today. Parking is better if travelling south. TFTC
I had not been in this area before and I was surprised to see this object when I passed this morning. However, I was not surprised to discover there was a cache to be found when I returned in the afternoon.
12176… Wasn’t aware of this viaduct until we read your cache page, a great view from here, thanks for showing us.
Another nice find as we check out some of the many Masterton and Tararua council gravel roads - although also some nice none dusty tarseal ones as well. Some great countryside through this area, and fortunately very little traffic. TFTC
Our2nd of 22 caches around Dannevirke/Woodville. Nice view of the viaduct and the valley. TFTC.
Easter weekend ramble towards Norsewood to do some cache maintenance. Not easy to park a 7 mtrs motorhome here but wouldn't be hard in a car if you are heading south. Nice quick easy find. Thanks Skindo.
A good view of the viaduct from here. Luckily I was heading in the right direction to pull over right at GZ to make the find. TFTC
Our learner driver was able to practice some 3 point turns as we past this location to find a good safe spot to park. Loved the hidey hole spot for this one, thanks skindo.

After a couple of detours off the mainish road we were back on it and soon came across the viaduct, nice spot.

*FTF* Out with TuisReturn to try and get some of the newly listed caches. Really pleased to find no one has got here yet. Another quick find. SL TFTC
