Best Cache I have found in ages - TFTC and the stop last time I was in Whyalla a resident thought I was going to the toilet and complained about me (while I was caching only), cant suggest I didnt look odd this time but boy I enjoyed it.no toilet stop required my gps was out a bit but spotted and was a quick retrieval. TFTC
We are on a road trip from the NSW/Vic border to W.A. for a wedding. We stayed the night in Port Augusta and thought wed collect a few caches while travelling to Whyalla. This was a clever hide which Ive come across something similar once before. It really deserves a favourite point for the effort that has gone in to setting this one up
The three of us were heading north to Whyalla, and we stopped here for a rest break. This cache has been on Mr Tardis's to do list for about 10 years. Finally arrived today, and we had a great time retrieving the cache. Signed the log. Thanks for the cache akela0.
What a fun find! Love it walked right past it more then once, took the inquisitive mind of Outdoornut22 to make the find so we were able to find the log! Very cool indeed! Worth the stop ????
A quick find once we realised that authentic looking thing could be it but not a quick process of getting our name in the log. It would have been a bummer if the cache name was accurate... Nicely done! TFTC akela0, FP.
Slowly making my way back to Adelaide. Always wanted to come over to this side. This is the best cache I have got on this trip so far and would be in my top 5 caches.
Have spent the last two nights camped at the Melrose Showgrounds now its time to head west, tonights destination as yet unknown, but towards our home in SW of WA.After tripping over a little plant and ending up on the ground Im glad I still made the walk to GZ. Thankfully only one place it could be.What a great cache, it had me laughing. Can understand why it has so many favourite points, which was the reason we stopped.Had to take a photo to show Mr dimor as we couldnt get to GZ as we are towing.TFTCAnd another favourite point coming your way
34,298. Found with minniek during our trip to The Great Leap Forward Mega Event in Adelaide on 29th February 2024.Day 4 : After staying overnight at the Wilmington Pub, we headed out hunting for more Counties, oldies and other interesting caches. We do enjoy meandering around the countryside doing this. Hopefully we will cross off a bunch more South Australian Counties today. Lots of great caches to choose from as well. This was the next cache, and it was the furthest West we got this trip. A nice quick find once at GZ - plus it was a very well set up cache. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then we continued on to the next one. Thanks akela0 !! Fav Point !
Last night fitzy_1965 and I stayed at the Wilmington Hotel. Old facilities but new air con was a winner! And honest locals as we realised in the morning that we had left the car keys on the dashboard last night! Our plan today was to collect oldies & counties and whatever inbetween whilst making our way back to my cousin's house for a family dinner. All caches found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. This was one of them.
Out caching with my caching buddy, MrsShep77, and our faithful drivers. Thanks for the great hides. Definitely worth the effort.
Found this one on our way home from a long weekend in whyalla. Took a minute to find but then made total sense. The kids enjoyed this one!
Out caching while staying at the Footy Club. Thanks akela0 for Missing Link 1. Mmm couldnt be, but yes it was. Tftc
Find#5952Nice hiding place What a epic road trip through Victoria and NSW on our way to Whyalla South Australia Thanks for the cache
From 16 December 2023 to 19 December 2023, I and J plus the little one visited Coffin Bay National Park and Lincoln National Park, together with countless cities and towns on the way. We also found over 40 caches during the trip, including traditional cache, mystery cache, multi cache, virtual cache, EarthCache, and Adventure Lab cache.Today is Day 1, we found 9 caches. This was our fifth find for today. We planned to try this cache, due to the high favourite points. Also, we haven't found a cache in this council area yet. At GZ, cache has been found easily.Definitely worth a favourite point from us.Signed the log book, and put it back. Took nothing, left nothing. Thanks for the popular cache, akela0.----**South Australia will host a Leap Day Mega Event on 29th February 2024. GCA1DNA: The Great Leap Forward. Count down: 74 days.**
Easily one of my favourite caches! Took longer than usual to find this one but not for the usual reasons. Went past the spot once and thought "surely not" and carried on looking. After about 10 minutes of searching, came back to the spot and decided to take a chance and take the "hiding bits" off and look under. There it was! Took a bit of work but was well worth it! TFTC! Super creative!
WOW, this was definitely well worth stopping for. We were in the area camping and today it was time to move on. Thanks for the fun find. A favourite point coming your way akela0
Making my way to play golf at the Streaky Bay open on the weekend. Day 1 was doing some of the August series just before Whyalla and also start the FITG Series on the Whyalla/Kimba road before heading to Cowell to stay overnight to pick up a mat who was coming over on the ferry after working night shift. Also did an adventure lab in Whyalla and grab other caches on the way. The caches were in good condition unless mentioned in the log. TFTC
Amongst the cleverest caches I’ve found. I dropped my pen when packing it up and it almost became a permanent feature.
Collecting stray caches as I’m working in the area.
Not the same without Manda.
TFTC - marked as a fave.

Out @ Point Lowly Today for fishing off the rocks. A squid inked My Squid Jig Float and Tommy jig and my carer almost caught a Salmon Trout fish but got snagged

Just loved this cache. Getting ready to the August Series and stopped here for a cuppa. How very clever. Thank you.
TFTC! Took a lot longer than expected once found but not for the usual reasons. Made a memorable end to a holiday. Excited for any other missing links out there!
On our travels we stopped to grab this cache who could pass up a cache he with so many likes and now I see why and yes it has one more from me, a fun a clever hide thanks for placing it
Adelaide to Port Lincoln Road Trip!
Day Two: Quorn to Whyalla.
Weather: sensational.
I would have driven past this cache before without noticing all the FPs - now quite obvious thanks the new feature on the geocaching.com map. So I pulled over, made sure nobody was around (see previous log) and went in.
Best not to say too much and let you have the fun of finding this cache for yourself. An awesome first hide. Another FP coming your way. Thanks for the fun akela0.
It’s officially a Mega!

Found on a night run to grab a few of the August series caches as well as others on the way. A really good cache here, great work. Only just read the last logs about not driving along the dirt, luckily it’s late at night and no one is around. All good here, cheers.

A quick find with frmen1. Also a quick visit from rail worker who stated that we are not to use the dirt track as it is a restricted area. Future finders are to park on main road or side road only and to access cache by walking in from main road side. Or come when they're not there. Fav pt even with the trouble we were in lo
Found easy enough with tassie expat while exploring this interesting area. Great parking until we were told by a railway worker that it was prohibited land. Good cache, well done.
Found as part of the JAMS Kyancutta JLWE and Maralinga trip. Great hide a favourite from me. TFTC
The JAMS hit the JLWE and of course we managed to find a few along the way.
Thanks to akela0 from mogni

An easy (but not so quick) find on a day I really shouldn’t be caching. With a fresh knee injury, but a day to kill in Whyalla, I eventually became so bored that I had to attempt caching handicapped and all. I left the crutches in the car and hobbled over to this one, a day or two earlier and I wouldn’t have been able to retrieve this one but thankfully I’m mending quickly and I was able to collect the smiley. TFTC!
First find for this trip to SA. Good easy find with PirateLinda & CatBoy67. Very cool! TFTC
I love a cache with high Favourite Points.
Being on a Roadtrip with the family, stopping for caches is not high on their priorities list unfortunately so I have to be VERY selective of what stops I ask for (toilet stops included ).
So far I've only logged two Earth caches in the last three days.
So when I spotted one with so many favourite points I was compelled to ask for a pull-over (probably my only one for the day), and was not disappointed.
Catboy did the honours and was surprised at the lengths he had to go to. Clanbeckett watched on while abeck58 guarded the car (unfortunately Covid has finally caught up with him).
Thanks akelo0 for placing this cache (super impressive effort from a Basic Member).
Best wishes from this group of Brisbane catchers.

Found it TFTC Found in good condition. Well thats different. Cache container a little brittle take care
Fantastic! What a great fun and imaginative hide! Fun for all the family! Added a pencil for the log book and removed the lolly to dispose of (not sure why people leave consumables). Please be careful retrieving as container is cracked. Thanks so much for this thoughtful hide.
Found while visiting Whyalla for a few days with Team Waldron and TeamAstro, with the aim of finding as many caches as possible in Whyalla and surrounds. Thanks for the awesome cache akela0!
Another cache found during our 2022 South Australia Adventure using Geocaching as our guide.
We had a great time today driving some of the numerous 4WD tracks around Whyalla. Most.
Thanks for the cache akela0

What an epic journey we have had, just returned home from the holiday of a life time, we managed to catch up with PP2 for some caching at times, oh the memories and laughter!! Now it's time to catch up with the logging, thank you to every CO who has placed caches for us to find along the way TFTC
You certainly made us work for it. A good team effort. LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT. Have a favourite, wish it could be more. TFTC akela0
Checking out more of Whyalla, the steel city, where every corner has a rusty mint tin...
and some of the nearby coast today as well.
As usual, a day packed with exercise and great views.
Spotted your cache along the way
Like an old one of mine, only on steroids!!! Like it. Adding to the fav points
Appreciate akela0 for placing and maintaining this cache on our SA geo game map
Left a trackable to continue its long journey.

Searching with Purrfect Di and Jack the Monkey, finding and signing cache logs alone or with family and friends using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just plain old dumb luck Plenty of that luck stuff actually!!!
*Logs are composed and published using GSAK of course.*
A couple of maintenance assist tasks on the trail caches too. Looked like there had been some extreme weather since we were here last... oh yep, the floods the day after we left!!!
---
Caching is a hazardous activity!
Keep a lookout for sand traps, snakes, surprise cliffs, boxing roos, wombats, bulldust, and floods,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall out of trees...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- but especially lookout for any old bugs from alpha to omega !!! . [xx(]
Try to keep Travel Bugs as the only bugs you share and pass on
Now everything's opening more - even more important to sanitise and safely distance!!!
Really good of all those placing quality caches out and about around the countryside areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting
Thanks heaps for reading all this addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere, apparently! You win a virtual smile for the effort and getting to the end of the log

TFTC this was cool. The kids were getting a little tired and this renewed their interest! Waypoints are out so just keep looking for something that is a little out of place
Found it but couldn't get into it! Got the metal lid off inside the outer structure, but couldn't budge the plastic container or its lid or bolt. Tried digging around the plastic in case it was buried but no luck. Don't know if something is missing/broken or I need to eat more weetbix Disappointed as I wanted to see the missing link and drop a TB
Oh well, on to the next one. I'll let the CO decide if this counts as a find.

The Non Wangaratta Event Tour 2021!
Covid has postponed the Mega in Victoria until January but leave had been granted for AnyMules to attend with me and Bushfire. So Anymules and I went on a tour to Eyre Peninsular and mid north South Australia instead whilst Bushfire joined us in spirit only as covid meant he couldn't come here either. Not needing anything for my yearly goals I hoped I didn't add too many to the DNFs [B)]
Day 1: Getting to our Whyalla digs:
Almost there we called in for this one. What a great cache. heaps of fun getting to the log book. FP from me. [:X]
Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]
***Thanks akela0 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***
Logs prepared and published through GSAK.
