Took a while for me to log this sorry. Doing the Routeburn was absolutely incredible with stunning views at almost every stop. The track is highly wet so as a first time overnight camper, it certainly put my gear to the test! I'm definitely keen on doing more in the future Smile. TFTC

Staying the night at Routeburn Falls Hut, so a walk up the hill after dinner to nab this cache was in order. Took another fellow cacher who I met on the track. Beautiful sunset from up here.

FITW Muggle Kit

As I reached the hut pretty quickly, decided to walk upto Lake Harris and come back. The track was closed beyond that due to high avalanche risk. Hopefully it will clear up tomorrow. Cache is all good here. TFTC.

Its been a long time in the planning but finally the week long trip to the South Island to complete the Routeburn Track is here. Day #4 and its day #2 of the walk after a good night at the MacKenzie Hut. The weather is still stunning and perfect for this - we are so lucky!

Scrambled up for a quick find and awesome views (well even more awesome than from the trail!) in the beating sun.

Thanks for the cache.

21-Feb-22
The plan has been a in the cards for a while. I failed to complete the Routeburn track due to poort weather and wanted to finish it.
5 years on, I invited Keylev to come along as I was sure there was some caching to be done. a year on and here we are.

I have a lot to be thankful towards Keylev for this! TFTC

04-Feb-22
Was a little reluctant to find this one as it was off the track and the environment is so fragile. Managed to find a bit of a trail though and made the find quickly. Did not want to linger as it was so wet. Turned out to be raining all day with very little views. Still fun though! TFTC.

#351 absolutely amazing days with stunning view.everything was just perfect. We decided to do Routeburn track in the last minute and huts were booked out, only grabs the last spots for one night in Falls hut. Started in the afternoon, stayed in the hut and this way we had more than enough time to get to Conical hill and back to the carpark today.

03-Jan-22
Dashed up from the hut to find this one before dinner! Nice quick find - surrounded by some absolutely beautiful scenery!

05-Dec-21
Found on day 2 of the Routeburn. Tftc.

02-Nov-21
After hiking to the hut today I decided late in the afternoon to head up to this cache while the weather was hot and there were very few people coming in from the track. Ditched my jandals at the bottom of the hand rails and carried on barefoot. The landscape up there was breathtaking! GPS is spot on too. Cache was rather wet so left log in a dry ziploc.

Found together with KiwiLeon on our way back down from Conical Hill to Flats Hut. Great spot to rest take and take in the views.

Amazing walk to Routeburn Falls with some fantastic weather for a spring day. Thanks for the cache!

18-May-19
A magnificent winters day to be in the mountains. Co-ords were accurate for us which is great as there are a number of places that this could be hidden. Thanks for placing in such a spectacular location

15-Apr-19
We found this cache as we stopped for a break at the Routeburn track.

12-Apr-19
Found easily on the second section of my Routeburn Track walk. Stayed at the Routeburn Falls Hut and walked to Lake Howden Hut. Excellent weather conditions. Just a cold wind from the South.

We could find this geocache while we travelled through New Zealand. Today we walked the second half of the Routeburn Track. We started at the side of Glenorchy and walked to the top of Conical Hill. We aimed for the three highest geocaches. At the top of Conical Hill a kea came by to help searching. Thanks for these caches!

26-Nov-18
After we have arrived at Routeburn Falls Hut I walked to this cache. Thanks to the hint I could quickly find it. The logbook is a bit wet, but I could sign it without problems.
TFTC and greetings from Anadraxel from Germany.

Because the weather forecast wasn't too good for the afternoon we got off to an early start and were almost alone on the track. So it was easy to quickly dart off it to look for this box, which fortunately turned up pretty quickly. And so we were soon on our way again to Lake Mackenzie.

Thanks for this Cache!

Due to the weather forcast, we made an early start and had the track mostly for ourselfes. So it wasn't a problem to quickly stop for a cache, which was quickly found. Thanks for hiding and mainting this cahce!

What a beautiful spot for a cache. Stunning day to go for an afternoon walk up to the rock whilst staying at Routeburn Falls hut. Heading to Mckenzie hut next! Found log absolutely soaked without container just in small snaplock bag. Started new log and put in dry snaplock bag! Unfortunately I didn't have a spare container! TFTC

Incredible views in every direction. What an epic location for a cache. Right out of LOTR. Thanks for a fun hide.

BF finding. The lazy internet in Te Anau's camp two days ago has refused to give more than just the approximate location of the cache along the way. But it managed to Smile

23-Mar-18
Found on day 2 of my Routeburn Track walk. Thankfully it's not snowing today! An easy find once I located the correct rock and innocently ate some trail mix while waiting for other walkers to pass. Picked up Lego TB

#3,130: Upper Falls Smiley!
I came out to walk the Routeburn with my family, and of course picked up the caches along the way. Lots of rain the first two days, but nothing the gear couldn't stop. Found in good shape, after a short search. Nice view from this wee hillock.

After hiking Milford Track a few days ago it was time to tackle the Routeburn Track, which I did over 3 days from Glenorchy to The Divide. The weather was great for day one, but at times was fairly miserable for days 2 and 3! After settling in at Routeburn Falls Hut, I went for a wander to explore the falls and find this cache. Made a quick find of the cache here and really enjoyed this spot, so adding a favourite point! TFTC!

After finding a bed and dumping off our bags we headed up the hill with a spring in our step . bumped into the warden fixing steps just below gz . didn't take long to find on an amazing track deserves a fav tftc

Using the holiday season, we spent a wonderful three weeks in New Zealand, hiking, relaxing, and simply taking in the beauty of this amazing country.
We also took the time to go hunting for some geocaches along the way which, as usual, took us to places, we wouldn't have seen without them and taught us some interesting facts about the nature, buildings, and people of this country.

We hiked part of the Routeburn Track starting from Routeburn Shelter and stayed the night in Routeburn Flats Hut. Due to severe weather warnings we couldn't get quite as far as we planned (Harris Saddle) but managed to get to this cache anyway. The mist and rain fit the alpine atmosphere perfectly, so even though we didn't get the perfect views, it was amazing. Big Grin

(See log for Below the Falls for more comments.)

Grabbed this one while Mrs KC was 'swimming'. We had actually passed this location while heading up to the lookout -- a rocky top looking down at the hut and even further down the valley, so a good reason for another good leg stretch.

I’ve come across the ditch from with Swellerfungus to “tramp” (a new word for me) the Routeburn Track and see some of this beautiful South Island of New Zealand .

This is our second day of our tramp, having stopped overnight at the Routeburn Falls Huts. We thought about looking for this yesterday but when I realised I’d have to go up there and past the same spot the next day it didn’t take much convincing for me to wait...it might even have been me that did the convincing to wait! It has been quite a magnificent hike for us with scenery unlike any we have hiked in before. With snow capped mountains so close. Swellerfungus made the find and signed the log.

Thanks for hiding here.

27-Nov-17
A new day, and a new lot of hiking up hill. We had decided not to complete this cache the day before, as we had simply had enough of hills to climb! Instead we had enjoyed sitting beside the rushing water and relaxing in the sunlight. We cant believe how warm it is with snow so close by.
On day two we stopped in to grab this one (a good choice), headed off track slightly to the obvious location. It was not in the most obvious spot, but well hidden in another. Log signed and returned! Thanks for the cache.

A must when hiking the Routeburn Track. Fairly easy to find. We enjoyed the splended weather and the views. - Personally I don't like placements too far off the track crossing delicate flora.

A stunning view from here. It didn't take long to locate. We sat up here for a while and gave the container time to dry. TFTC

On honeymoon in NZ for a couple of weeks traveling around in a van. We made our way to Sylvan camp ground last night to get an early start on the Routeburn track today. Our goal was to make it all the way to the saddle and back. We managed to add on Conical Hill and make it back on last light. AMAZING place!! SENSATIONAL views all day! And the bonus of a few caches along the way.

Continuing up the track to the saddle, this was a nice photo op at GZ! Found fairly quickly and on we headed!

As x-mas tradition goes also this year we are out on a NZ Great Walk seeking the warmth of the huts. This year we walked the Routeburn - Caples Track over 4 days covering 69.3km.
After the night in the Routeburn Falls Hut I left the hut in the morning before my tramping partner to get to GZ. I had the geocache all signed and placed back when she came into my views. Enjoyed the view from the rock. Now off to a long and stunning day to the Lake Howden Hut Big Grin. TFTC

I tried to find this cache at 10:28:00 AM on 13/08/2016.
I didn't have much luck which could have been for many reasons. I shall return at a later date.

I had a dig artound with an ice-axe but the snow was just too deep.

On a four day loop of Routeburn Track & then back via Caples Track with a muggle friend. A huge storm this morning cleared surprisingly quickly, which means we've walked from the Shelter to the Routeburn Falls hut in great weather with the bonus of waterfalls pouring off every surface. Left my muggle mate to settle into the hut while I went off in search of the two nearby caches. Good co-ords, so was quickly upon the big rock & the cache here.

As previously logged, the cache is wet. Really wet, possibly because 1 lid catch is broken. I'd brought a spare waterproof log but not a replacement container. With fantastic views on a lovely evening, I decided to sit a while to let everything dry out. Not a hardship, believe me! Container & plastic bags dried fairly quickly but not the assorted contents. Mmm. I wondered about taking the sodden logs with me but decided I'd better not remove without CO permission, so I just separated the contents into 1 wet & 1 dry - the older wet mushy logs are in a bag tucked further under the rock, and the new replacement waterproof log is in the original container in another bag. Great spot for a cache: maybe the next finder can bring a new container? Thanks for the placement, nofs

### ... und wenn er nimma rausch'd is Wasser all ###
The cache was wrapped in a plastic bag which is always great to keep them soaked and mushy. The content is pretty much beyond repair despite some efforts to dry it.
However ... the location is great and enjoyed scooping up the valley for our afternoon tea near the saddle Wink

Found this one quickly where indicated ... swimming in a waterhole. Everything was totally wet. Water in the box. Sorry I had no logbook with me but the old one is totally soaked through and not longer usable. Moved the cache a few meters to the other side of the rock where it is protected of the weather and dry.
