Yeah, well, errr... I put a "Found it" log even though I know and realise and discovered that the physical cache is not really here.
Together with my sweet love Miss Bij, I went on the holiday of a lifetime. We travelled from The Netherlands to Hong Kong, Australia, New-Zealand and Fiji. We just arrived home when I'm writing this log. The duration, distance and cost of this amazing journey, makes us realize that it is not likely we'll be able to do this again in the years to come.
Normally, I'd take my losses if we encounter a geocache that's not really there. In Cairns for instance, it happened three times. However, in this case I decided to send a request to the cache owner, since this was a really amazing spot, with a great view, and the cache is a great reward for the physical challenge we went through to grab it. It's definitely worth the effort, but I really wanted this spot to be on my finds-list.
So I know the owner has the right to decline or aprove these kinds of requests and I will offcourse change this log in a DNF if he does not approve. I will put some photographic evidence of us being at this spot with this log today or tomorrow. And I'll give this cache a favorite.
So how did it come to be that we wanted to find this cache? When heading for Townsville, we wanted to visit Magnetic "Maggie" Island 'cause we heared it was very beautiful and because of the change of seeing Koala's in the Wild (in stead of Wild Koala's, since they don't exist). That mission succeeded the very next day.
But upon our arrival, we put our suitcases in our room at the Civic Guest House, and my girl told me the mountain we looked at was called "Castle Hill". I say mountain, because in our Holland everything is flat and here everything seems to us like being a mountain. We like visiting castle's, in Europe there are many left standing. We didn't know that in Australia there also would be castle's, because in our recollection the settlers arrived way past the castle-building-age. So we looked if there would be a cache somewhere - which there was - and decided to make te climb to see the castle.
We were offcourse a bit surprised when we got to the top....... But hey, we got our goat on and really enjoyed this hike. Thanks, thank you, merci, dankjewel!
We got our goat on!
Thanks for the cache!

Afternoon walk up the hill. Good place for a few pictures and a log. Just up from here! Took the road on the way down. Thanks for the cache

Morning family walk up the goat track, never thought to look for a cache and what you know a couple in the area to do... Tftc...
Found on a hot caching afternoon. Container in good condition. Thanks for the much needed exercise after the easter chocolate binge
A pleasant stroll up to the halfway point and time for a quick find. No pen so hope photo suffices
Dinosaur swap on step.
That is what the bananas found here.
On a gentle walk back to the Airport this one was sort.
What a wonderful use of the landscape. Well done insane.cache.posse.

QEF on the way up the Goat Track with the hordes. Took a moment when the coast was clear to make the find, but no pen so the log wasn't signed. TFTC!
A nice little heart starter for an early morning walk up the 'Hill'. I have come to Townsville many times, and always thought how I would like to do what I see so many of the locals do...trudge up that hill. Unfortunately the work load when I am in town simply makes it impossible. Finally today I had that chance.
I got up nice and early following the sage advice of the locals I had spoken to about walking up the hill....and I took water too!
This was my second for the morning, and it was already starting to heat up. I was glad that I had started early, and amazed at all the locals just keeping on going up, up and up. I for one was glad for the short respite at GZ to catch my breath.
Cache quickly found and in good condition.
Thanks for the cache ICP.

After a beautiful day on castle hill (06/10/14) my phone had died before I could find this one. But knowing the cache location roughly and with the hint in mind it was quickly found, even in the dark without a light (besides the bright moon that night which lid my way downhill).
Thank you!
Thank you!
So many stairs! An easy find but a tough walk back up. Well worth it though. Thanks for the cache insane.cache.posse!
Staying at a caravan park in Townsvillle, on our 3rd trip around Australia.
Today, we decided to tackle a few caches on Castle Hill.
This one we did from the top, walking down to the cache and back again.
We were surprised at some of the step sizes, as it made this a real work out.
Cache was found quickly, and in good condition.
Many thanks for placing this cache, insane.cache.posse, for us and others to find.

After carrying on up the track after grabbing 'Games we play ' it was well and truly dark. Despite this there were still quite a few muggles about. With the muggle factor in mind we decided to use the clue, which resulted in a quick find for the Bear.
Once the muggles nearby had finished their chit chat by moonlight the cache was safely replaced and we carried on up the hill.

The bench at the cache was the best thing that could happen to us because we were almost dying due to the heat.

Had a nice walk at the hottest time off the day, but the view over the town was it worth.
It has not rained in Townsville for many months and it did this morning - about 20 mm.
We all went out side to see the wonderful sight. I decided it would be an opportune time to search for this cache as there would be less people climbing the hill. A wonderful cool climb and very few muggles. SL TFTC

My stealth skills must be improving, managed to retrieve and replace unnoticed while muggles were viewing the scenery!
My second in Australia. From this place you have a beautiful outlook of the beach of townville. Thank you for cache.

Got up early today to see the sunrise from Castle Hill. The view from the top was really worth getting out of bed in the dark.
After watching Townsville waking up, i had more time on my way down the goat track. So looked for this cache, i didn't notice when heading up. The container was soon in hand, I signed the log and replaced the cache without leaving or taking anything. TFTC! I really like Townsville!

On the way up was this bench perfect for a break. Windy up here. Logbook quite full. TFTC
We both walked down from the top to this one and then Mr Beetle returned to the van and I continued on down to grab the GCA cache nearby. There was one muggle at GZ but he soon continued on his merry way and a quick grab was made. Thanks.
Found this today without much ado. Great spot, well worth the climb, even in the midday heat! Very few muggles about for such a nice day. Stamped log and continued to the top for the beautiful panoramic views TFTC
Went just before night, very high with muggles! Had to be so patient, note to self... Take water and a puffer!!
It's Easter Sunday and geoD went off early for a training pushy ride, I (geoP) couldn't sleep so also got up early and trudged over to Castle Hill. I usually walk/jog the hill on monday afternoons but today I was there for a different purpose so it was a casual stroll instead.
I was a little surprised with how many muggles were about all up early to burn off some calories before consuming copious amounts of easter chocolate. I had to slow down a couple of times to let muggles get ahead of me so I could search. Once the traffic was gone it was an easy quick find, sign and replace.

Being a veteran Hill climber, I knew exactly where to look for this one from the hint. Problem was the muggles.....everywhere! TFTC
Well after a great caching run down south I thought I had best turn my attention to some of the caches on the hill in ICP's territory.
Cache was found no problem but muggles were the challenge as there were plenty of them. Onward and upward!!!! Great training for Mt Kiliminjaro next year!!!!

Nice view nice breeze and a nice way to spend some time with my beautiful wife.
After a couple of finds at the bottom of the hill it was time to hit the Goat track.
That is one grueling climb and the seat and viewing platform at GZ were a welcome sight.
On aproach I could see the cache poking out from it's hide and grabbed it straight away.
No muggles on the track today, maybe due to the terrible weather.
A quick sign and repalce and on my way to the top!
Cheers and happy caching.

I was a regular on these tracks, both on foot and on mountain bike, back in the nineties when I lived in Townsville. Today, I was aiming for some pre-Christmas exercise to combat tomorrow's excess food and drink. I was glad of the platform to catch my breath today.
Found the cache quickly between muggles. Continuing up the hill, I remembered a favourite rock scramble. From the track junction, take a small rarely used track on the right through the grass. It leads to a bare gently sloping rock face. On the rock face are painted arrows. Follow these all the way to the top on this ridgeline and you will come out at the lookout at the end of the southern lookout path. Enjoyed my rock scramble today.

Found with ease on a very early morning walking the goat track. Little muggles just had to snap it up at the right time. TFTC

Got up this morning to hit the goat track. Its amazing how many people are going up and down this hill!
At GZ we needed to wait a few minutes for the people traffic to clear.
After a quick search we had it in hand.

Easy find. Went there at midnight after work. No muggles and a great view of the city.
Was visiting Townsville for work this week and decided to have a crack at the famous goat track.
This was my second time for the week, and found the cache easily with no muggles about. But then a steady stream of muggles made replacing the cache difficult. After about ten minutes there was a gap and i had it back in 2 seconds flat and continued on my way.
What a great walk and fantastic view. If i get the chance to come back i will be doing this walk again for sure.

This certainly was the most popular track today! After a quiet walk up the hill, the muggle traffic here was just phenomenal! We arrived at GZ at a good time however as the last muggle disappeared upwards. After a few photos Loki had a quick search for the cache with Pagan and friend on lookout duty. Cache was quickly located at 0823h and returned uneventfully . The track is in a lot better condition than I remember. Thanks insane.cache.posse
#106. Found this cache while going up the goat track for the first time this morning... We went up, had a break at the top and found tsv's first woz here. We also did the hit the hill challenge. The view up there is really nice, we enjoyed it. Then we decided to begin our descent, so I checked to see if there were any. There was this one and games we play. So we began going down. Suddenly I remember the caches. Nooooooo! Oh we'll, I wasn't going to let this cache get away from me. So back up I flew, trying to be like a mountain goat.

Really easy find ! Hint gave it away ! Pencil is blunt so couldn't log on!!! Great walk!!!!!
Burnoff on downhill side of goat track to the bridge completed. Apart from a little discolouration on the lid the cache survived. All is OK.
Great little hide, well worth the trip up the hill! Took my little brother out for his first real cache trip, we were both glad when we got to the top. Started at the West End cemetery and got picked up on Victoria Street . Great views and a quick find. I let him search for this one himself. TFTC!
Wow...I haven't ever been on the Goat Track at peak hour before - talk about muggles! It was relativel easy to grab the cache between people but a steady stream of walkers made it difficult to put it back. At least there was some good scenery. TFTC.
Find #4 on my caching adventure around Castle Hill. Glad I brought my rain jacket because the drizzle and wind started just as I found this one! Found it quickly, took the TB, then hid the cache a little better than I found it. TFTC!
I knew I needed some exercise after last night's dinner at Masala so I'd planned on taking the bottom route to this one. Not being local (even though I've visited TSV more than 30 times) I didn't know where the path came out so decided to take it from the top. Drove past and waved to the sweating hordes making their pilgrimage up Mt Sinai, I mean Castle Hill, and got to the top the easy way. Then to find the way down, not where I thought but just follow the pilgrims taking the short way back.
A quick descent saw me at the lookout in about 10 minutes or less where of course a couple of exhausted muggles with unexhausted hounds sat. I managed to scoot by and grab the cache without them spotting me and then went back up the track a bit out of sight to do the duties. Signed and removed the broken plastic soldier that was clogging up the container. Also the pencil is broken but I had a pen anyway. no sign of the listed GC.
Headed back and the muggles were gone so I replaced the cache and now for the tricky bit. Steps! I can walk up an incline all day without stopping but steps take it out of me so had to pause now and again. To keep me interested I kept a count of the steps up from the lookout. No one will be surprised to know there are 382 of the suckers if you find every one of them! I wonder if it's easier from the bottom.
Thanks for the workout!

Great fun hiking up the trail to get this one, and the view is certainly an additional reward. TFTC!
Had muggles about on the way up so had to have a proper look for it on the way back down. An easy find in the end and a great view. I've only visited Townsville a few times and this was the first that I'd had a chance to climb the rock. It was well worth it!
enjoyed the walk to this one but glad it was a straightforward find. The views were worth the effort
Walled the goat track to the top.
Definitely a good workout.
Picked up the cache on the way down just before it got dark
Good walk and Tftc

#116 Well, we are a bunch of winners. Chose to climb up to get this one in the heat of the day. What a brilliant idea that was. Sooo many steps. Legs were a little wobbly, sweating like a fool, and all we had with us was coke, which was not in the slightest bit refreshing after being jiggled all the way.
Anyway, once at GZ the cache was quickly found, Log signed and grabbed the kitty cat number.
Then we had to get back down. Noooooooo. Ended up piggybacking the little money most of the way down. I'm off for a LLD (little lay down)

This one popped up on my day off from walking the hill. Have met Corikra once before on the track. Went up for a leisurley stroll this morning with my two Bels. (Thats Belinda and Isabelle) The two year old made it up with a little assistance and only slipped and fell once on the way down.
I will walk over this cache many times in the next couple of months.
Thanks for the cache.

I can't believe I actually got the FTF on this one . Was everyone else too lazy today? After all it was already after 4pm when I went up. Lucky I checked my email before I headed off to the hill, otherwise I would have walked straight past without knowing it was there. How nice is it to do a cache that's conveniently on the way and easy to find ! TFTC summer'skoby.
