I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.

Approached this cache with some trepidation after the previous dnf's but thought - they didn't try hard enough. Well I tried hard enough for the 4 of us and even after checking every cabbage tree in the place - it is either gone or I am blind. Still plenty of time for the undergrowth to grow up in the last 8 years and it was an overcast day so the gps accuracy was a bit off.

24-Dec-19
Very wet place, but no sign of the cache today. Was my 2nd look to no avail... Oh well, i hope it is there.

17-Apr-19
Couldn't find

23-Oct-18
Sorry unable to locate.

16-Sep-18
I had about 3 hours to get from Kaiapoi to New Brighton, how convenient! Very wet underfoot! TFTC!

08-Sep-18
Today Flying Phoenix was skiing with his sister and Mrs Biggles was at an all day meeting so I had some time to myself to go and find a few caches. TFTC, Biggles.

19-Feb-18
Interesting little reserve at the side of the road. Looks very inviting but it was deceptively very wet underfoot so I couldn't help but wonder just how often asll those picnic tables are put to use. Tipped a lot of water out of the cache so very grateful it was a sensible waterproof log. TFTC # 12,069

#5238. The family is on holiday in the South Island and we are staying in Christchurch for a few days. I have a list of caches I am keen to locate. Mostly challenge finals, old caches, letterboxes and earthcaches. But picking up any traditional caches that are found nearby. Today the family decided to go shopping and tram riding giving me a few hours free to go geocaching. Headed up here to check out Spencer Park. Decided to grab one last cache up here before heading down to the Port Hills. The ground was damp at the GZ but managed to make a quick find without sinking my sandals into the mud. Although it was damp inside the container, the log was still dry enough to sign. Thanks for the cache cfahey1.

06-Jan-18
6 January 2018 19:57. Area has been flooded and cache fill of water. Needs some TCL but with the write-in-the-rai log can still be written on. Tipped out the excess water.

03-Jan-18
Avoided the wet and found it easily. Thanks

15-Dec-17
We've just had a solid day of rain so it was moist underfoot. A quick find, thank goodness, after a fruitless search in the domain nearby for another cache. Tftc.

06-Dec-17
Could see how this could have been a really lovely area in days gone by. Today was part of a dry spell so unlike previous cachers, had no wet ground problems! Cache was pretty waterlogged, but managed to sign. TFTC Cool

07-Oct-17
#14523. Like the previous finder, we also looked for this one on a wet day. The grass / clover is long, and my shoes got quite wet getting to GZ. Cache was soon found, and water in it was emptied. Log was damp, but easily signed (it is write in the rain paper). Took a less direct route back to avoid the worst of the long grass. TFTC.

07-Oct-17
We stopped the car, and looked at the GPSr and then towards GZ, and both thought "Oh dear". There was long wet grass between us and the cache. StreetWalker took one for the team, rolled up his trousers and set off, while I stayed dry in the car Smile Not the best conditions or weather to visit here, but it looks like it would be a pleasant place in summer. TFTC.

03-Sep-17
Very wet! Both our feet and the cache! Tftc.

03-Sep-17
Hmmmm.... perhaps a bit wet to go looking for this one today! Found it pretty quickly but the container was full of water. Dried off log and had a spare dry bag to put log in. Tftc!

05-Feb-17
Yay went back today and found it in the spot I looked yesterday SmileBig Grin
Whole cache was soggy and slimy ... [xx(] Didn't take any swaps ... left 2 things Smile
Signed the log book and replaced the cache ....
TFTC....

04-Feb-17
Did not find this cache today... searched all the cabbage trees ... after arriving home we had a think about it and considered the comments so now we have a pretty good idea were it is and we might come back another time ....
The river was nice and cool.... cows moooing in the fields across the river.... peaceful.... [^]

30-Jul-16
We were a bit worried about this one after the last posts. Yes there is plenty of flooding in the area but the cache is still nice and safe tucked away. The contents are very damp. Dried out as best we could in the rain, attempted to sign log but cant really read much of what is on it. THanks

20-Jul-16
CO may want to check this one, no sign of the cache, very wet area

29-May-16
Flooding might have moved it

26-Mar-16
Everything is wet here, including logbook. Couldn't sign it. Emptyied water out think this needs a better container

22-Jan-16
Very wet could not sign log book. Took a bit to find

01-Jan-16
Must have dried out a little since injeanious was here. Only the octopus at the bottom was wet. Easy find, tftc!

20-Dec-15
The hint lead us straight to GZ and I quickly headed in and started looking around. The undergrowth was pretty high and dense but after a bit of tugging and pushing I soon found it. It looked like it had been untouched for quite some time. There was water inside and everything was wet. I cleaned it out and dried it before replacing. Tftc.

12-Dec-15
No sign of anything here today

13-Nov-15
I have actually found this one before so a wierd sense of Dejavu today. Funnily enough it was actually dryer underfoot this time around. I remember getting wet feet last time! The wet note pages are starting to flake but managed to sign happily. Thanks for the hide.

26-Oct-15
Easy find near where we were staying for the weekend. Box very damp and only managed to make a scratch on the log.

25-Oct-15
Was on the way to doing an earthcache and took a wrong turn but that's ok becuase we found this cache as a bonus. Was travelling with Lyttelton Witch this morning.
Thanks for the hide.

25-Oct-15
A fairly quick find while out caching with another cacher

25-Oct-15
A quick find as I was out this way gathering information for the Earthcache. Certainly an area that has seen some changes....TFTC.

21-Oct-15
Nice day today, and dry too. Yay! Initially the gps had me in the open but once it settled it was spot on. The cache contents are wet though (it was an impromptu trip so I had no supplies to sort it out).
TFTC Cool

Nice arvo stroll

14-Sep-15

01-Aug-15
Quick find, ground a bit soggy as was the log, but able to sign due to the waterproof paper

I needed my cache for the day, and I was semi headed out this way anyways today, as I know where there is a 'good' if that's the right word to use Razz warrant place.

So after manageing to successfully get the warrant - yay!! I headed off for some caching.

I picked this one first... and wow I should have put the gumboots from the boot on. I got boggy water all through my shoes!!

Ended up finding the cache, but no wonder it was soaked and filled with water!!

Consec caching day # 929

TFTC!! Smile

Nice and easy find TFTC

26-Oct-14
Simple easy find. Found with Suki1424. Quick search with an LED flashlight proved a successful night search after two unsuccessful searches in the area. Smile even helped a woman and her sons get their flat battery going again.

a very wet area but found it yay nothing In and nothing out tftc kk

31-May-14
Second cache of the day - a quick park & grab for KK & I on the way to Spencerville & Brooklands Lagoon. Here we observed more effects of the earthquakes - the house across the road has been removed / demolished like many others in the area, and the water table has obviously risen. Combine that with the recent rain event and most of the park was under water! But no matter, I removed my boots and socks and ventured forth in the frost-frozen water (which I didn't need to do - but that's where my gps indicatedSad) and cache was easily found. KK found it without removing footwear. Thankfully the cache contained a waterproof log. All signed but very wet. TFTC

25-May-14
As mentioned by others, the cache is quite wet. Tried to dry it as much as possible, but not quite sure how long this will last. Stopped for a picnic in the past and enjoyed sitting and overlooking Styx river, but not any more. So sad. Thanks for placing the cache.

01-Mar-14
Easy wee find. Container really wet. Shook out what we could. Dried the log enough to sign it. Replaced. A little wet and boggy under foot, but do-able. Thanks for the cache.

A nice sunny day to be out today

To wet to leave travel bugs.

07-Oct-13
Out on a wee cache raid with Team_Gaters and we decided to head out this way to do some 'clean up'. Mops packed and we headed out to clear the area. We had and agenda, Pines Beach, Brooklands, Spencer Park and then around MacFarlane park in Shirley. This was the eighth stop of the evening. I had previously DNFed this one and we headed out to try my luck. TG had previously found this one. I could not believe my eyes. It was just right there!!! Don't you feel like a wolly when that happens. Nice to tick this one off. Boy it's boggy, funny to see the half submerged pinic table/swimming platform.
Thanks for the cache.

Got stuck in Christchurch for an extra 24 hours due to flight cancellations so decided to rent a car and go caching for the day. Quick find although I got my feet quite wet & muddy! TFTC #5118

01-Sep-13
Sure is a damp area here. Walked in a U shape to keep dry, and quickly located the cache. THanks for the hide.

31-Aug-13
Yeah I got a bit muddy going to this. I went in the hard way. Came out the easy way! Lol! Took a bit of looking for me to find it. Probably distracted by the state of my shoes. Tftc

24-Aug-13
We are heading to the right coordinates but my shoes is getting wet.so i let Sevren look for the cache.and he found the cache.tftc

24-Aug-13
Cache seems to be in the middle of a swamp and I was wondering if at some point I was going to sink out of sight in a liquifaction hole. Chelzea with less protective shoes soon abandoned the approach and left me in my boots to search. GPS seemed about 7m out pointing to an area that I was not prepared to go when I spotted something and there it was just beside me. TFTC

01-Aug-13
No luck today!

26-May-13
Dried out cache, replaced log and added new swag.
Please take your own pen.

29-Mar-13
The area around the GZ was very wet underfoot and the cache was also full of water. I dried it out as best as I could. TFTC

17-Feb-13
Out and about on an afternoons adventure. Log and container a bit wet. Emptied water, put the log paper into it's own wee baggy that I had conveniently handy. Cheers.

16-Feb-13
NICE CACH TOOK AWHILE AZZ WAS VERY WET AREA

18-Jan-13
Smile Having a day off and what better way to spend it than doing a few geocaches...sure beats work at any rate. Quick park & find on my way out to the Brooklands Lagoon with the intention of doing several today...this was #3. Took my gunboots and sure needed them. The cache was absolutely full of water...but still managed to get my name in it. Log entry before this is probably going to be the best thing...until it's all settled down and new parks & reserves are developed. TN:LN:SL. TFTC...cfahey1, ayeffay. Another one for day 92 of our Consecutive Days Streak. #392 for us.

11-Jan-13
As this cache easily becomes waterlogged, I will move it to higher ground once I return from my holiday.

14-Dec-12
Quick find without getting feet wet. Cache is filled with water. Emptied but will need attention. TFTH.

05-Dec-12
A wet find in a very quiet area.

05-Dec-12
Log a bit damp. Another sad reminder of the damage to our city. TFTC

01-Dec-12
Another cfahey1, ayeffay cache while driving through the area. Driving out this way is a real eye opener with all of the empty lots and vacant houses.

The cache had a bit of water in it which I poured out, but the contents are still damp.

Cheers for the cache!

26-Nov-12
Fairly quick find today, although the container was rather damp. Needs a little attention. Cheers Gav

Quick find.

23-Sep-12
Swampy ground easy find. TFTC

11-Sep-12
Very wet contents and needs a real good drying out.

11-Sep-12
Just glad I had gumboots in the car with me as required to get to cache today. Water level was way up and almost had the cache in its hands. Made sure that the cache was put back a little higher still but in same area. Double bagged the log sheets as they were wet as well. Rest of stuff in cache is also damp and in need of a real drying out. Will post a needs maintenance separate to this log for that reason.

04-Sep-12
Easy cache bit damp left on side as we found it. TFTC.

02-Sep-12
Certainly very wet underfoot in parts of the park - but dry at GZ. Damo cache, as noted before, but logged OK.

30-Aug-12
I was able to get to this without getting my feet wet. However, despite being above water level the cache is very wet and needs further maintenance. I was able to sign as it had one of those plasticized logs which do very well in this environment. TFTC

29-Jul-12
Found shortly after taking the dog for a swim off the nearby platform,TFTC
Great series idea

12-Jul-12
Replaced container, plastic bags and silica. Removed saturated swag, and dried off plastic swag. Also added some more swag of appropriate colour. Will check again soon to ensure that it has stayed out of the water.

07-Jul-12
Just re-inforcing the need for maintenance. Nothing Green growing yet, and the waterproof log does help, but it won't be pleasant for much longer.
Would suggest moving it to avoid the high tide - maybe a visit by CO at high tide would help decide where it could be moved to.

07-Jul-12
Yup - the cache is wet, wet wet.
However my feet stayed dry - this could be because we arrived a couple of hours after low tide.
Assume that Beltfamily emptied the cache on their visit this morning - and by the time we got there (4:15 ish) it was waterlogged again. Noticed that the paper in the log is waterproof paper, so dried off a but and signed.
Both bags were full of water, and there was several cm of water in the bottom.
Took the liberty of moving to the opposite side of the hint object and constructing a high tide platform from bits around. Hopefully that saves it from submerging but doesn't expose it too much.
An appropriate colour considering all the orange cones in the area.

07-Jul-12
Oh the irony... cache victim of water. You may need to relocate this one to higher ground. Signed outside of container since it was drier.
Thank you for placing this cache.

Cache is very wet, with water inside the container and both baggies.

21-Jun-12
When I first neared GZ I noticed a fisherwoman nearby so I elected to come back later. 40 mins I returned to find the fisherwoman still intent on catching herrings, so I sneaked in a retrieved the cache without getting my feet wet. The cache was very wet (log in a waterlogged baggie) so I tipped as much water out as I could. I couldn't dry it out any further as I only carry cycling tools on my bike. Needs maintenance.

10-Jun-12
Thanks for recommending gumboots! Very soggy surrounds. Even the cache wasn't immune - it was full of water.

4474. Found the cache very easily and negotiated my way to it without even getting damp. The area is certainly well under water. Not all like the last time we were geocaching right here! Thanks, Rodney
