It was our intention to make a good start on the Penrith Heart puzzle series today, but we had a few of our selected targets thwarted by sleeping geokid, pregnancy and just bad luck with muggles.
We targeted a total of 11 caches with 2 DNFs for the day.
---
There appear to be plenty of hidey holes for this cache based on past logs and our search today. After a good 15 minutes we decided we need to visit another time with some additional equipment to assist with the search.

Quick find but only due to sheer luck by looking in one of many options first up and ignoring the obvious. TFTC
Tftc - at first I thought what a waste of time. No time to waste as we were in a hurry. Heading back to the car when Geoson shouted those famous words ‘Found It’, shhhhhh. Performed the duties and rushed off to collect muggle wife, oh if only she knew ....
In Springwood with JJCC today as the geoNephew applied for his L's. Afterwards we headed out to find some target caches for the day in order to fill in some requirements for a challenge cache series (USG) down in Canberra. This particular cache filled in a missing hidden date, so we parked nearby and made the short walk over to GZ. After yesterdays DNF we sort out some intel and came back down through Penrith this afternoon specifically for this cache. Armed with gloves today we searched some of the same spots we searched yesterday but deeper in and found the cache container in the fourth spot we looked. With the cache finally in hand we both signed the log before replacing as found. The cache container and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache GazMag.
The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust) & Vanlith The Youngling.

Was out in the area this afternoon and dropped by for a search on this one. Had a good search where the GPSr was pushing us, but then widened the search area by a good 8-10m and found lots of good hide locations, but alas after an hour of search we called a DNF for today. Will have to gather some intel as we will most likely be back around the area towards the end of the week.
Thanks for the hunt GazMag.
Thanks for the hunt GazMag.
had a quick crack at this one, no luck and I had to be at a certain place to provide transport to a certain person after she finished work... will be back
Teamed up with Goingplaces2 today and we followed the gps without a very firm plan of where we were going to go caching other than head toward Penrith and this was one of the caches we targetted and found. Thanks to GazMag for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
21/3/17. 1:15 PM. Cache #4871.
5th of 7 finds - Berkshire Park, Londonderry, Castlereagh, Cranebrook, Lavender Bay, Millers Point.
I was caching in this area last weekend, getting a few of the Ev4d's PnG series, but when I went to drive down Nepean St to get to this cache, my way was blocked by the dead end, and so I ended up going north for other caches instead.
Today, after getting "Sarah's Grave". I continued south to this one, considering it as unfinished business. I parked on Spinebill and walked past the playground to the lake and then along to GZ. I searched in a few spots that were probably beyond the terrain rating and saw nothing. A PAF didn't remember the location that well.
I read a few more logs, taking me back to an area I had tried before on my extended search. Tried one more further along and got cache in hand! SL and replaced. Time to head for home; my 6th cache (hopefully a find) is a night cache I'm doing after dinner. TFTC.

Went at midnight, no muggles, still took a while even though was looking in the right area. TFTC
Biting off more than we could chew. Popular muggle territory. There will be others - WCE Junior Edition
After a previous DNF, I was out with WW and wanted to have another look. It took a bit of searching by both of us, but WW put her hand on it. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC
Having great afternoon with group of friends while walking through this lovely area. Wearing gloves made it easier to look for this cache. Thank you.
After a long look couple of days before we looked and was not giving up. We had to get a hint with a photo from activity to find it
TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.
Yes, return I did after a DNF last time.
It's such a time absorbing cache.
With a natural tool in hand, slowly made my way from one end and ahh, CIH. Nice container, quite chilly at this time of the afternoon, thanks goodness for that smiley

The geo-widow was catching up (and having a few wines) with a girlfriend who lives in this part of the world this afternoon, which gave me the opportunity to grab a few local caches that had eluded me, for one reason or the other, on past visits to Penrith. This was one of those ...
The last time I was here (which was presumably in spring/summer) the trees were covered in foliage. Now, they are largely bereft of cover, making it far easier to access the area that, after carefully examining available NASA and third party satellite imagery, I had concluded I should concentrate my search efforts. I love it when a plan comes together ... because I was able to locate this very tricky find much more quickly than I had anticipated might be the case. Of course, luck may have played a part in the find too ... but only a very small part I'm sure ...
Thanks for bringing me to this suburban oasis GazMag, and for the smiley too.

At home today we are having a scheduled power outage - something about maintenance / upgrades. So no point staying home.
The Geowife originally had plans but they fell through. She ended up taking Geoson #3 to Miranda and I headed *waaaaaaay* out west to find a whole bag of caches.
In the end I found twelve in the late morning / afternoon sun - at one point the car was saying it was 35 outside - but there were also a few DNFs - I blame the heat.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Second DNF in a row.
checked a lot of possible cache locations with a tool found on site.
Nothing for me after 20 minutes.
Either I'm blind, the coordinates are way out or it's not there.
Hoping it's the first option.
At least no passing muggles to hamper the search.

No luck for me here today. However I did see an enormous carp in the pond! Enjoyed the birdwatching, thanks for bringing me here.
Had a goo look at all sorts of places but came up empty. Try again when next in area.
This was not a difficult one to find and it was a help to have read the previous logs, as some clues were given that narrowed the search down. TFTC.
During our heart puzzle tour we also drove past here.
Thanks

Third time's a charm and finally another tricky cache is marked of our "to be found" list! TFTC great hide; cache and log in good order.
After searching in the most obvious places and then going back and reading the recent logs, I soon found it. Nice camo. Thanks for bringing me here it is a lovely park.
Just moved into the area so our first caching day in our new home. No muggles but people are just waking. All in good nick. TFTC
Ran out of time on our second visit to this cache with the pending dark and the (lack of) patience of a 6yo both being factors!
Found with the whole gang.
This was our newest TB, Ellie the Elephant's first Geocache find. Very exciting.
We made the trip down from parking Blue Steel and discovered it right away.
We signed the log and took some photos and placed it back as found.
Thanks for the cache.

On approach to GZ this morning I was presented with a multitude of hiding places. Need to use a tool to systematically search each hidey hole. The first few passes didn't turn up the goods but the third did along with the telltale signs of an eight legged cache guardian.
After fashioning a natural tool to help extract the container without getting a nasty bite the log was signed and returned.
Coords ended up to be spot on. Cheers.

Spent a lovely afternoon with Lucky1955 knocking down some of the "heart" series of puzzle caches.
Did a quick detour to this one seeing as we were close by. played a quick game of "hot or cold" and soon had CIH. TFTC

Took longer than expected poking all nooks but i gave up that idea quickly and found it after searching the 1st place i looked once more
didn't find it on my first pass around the lake. Retrieved an extendable arm mirror from the car and returned for a closer inspection. Found in one of the many nooks and crannies. tftc
area was clear of muggle traffic at the time of looking

LOL, that was not a quick find!!!! Just about to give up, when I got ultra brave and stuck my fingers where I really shouldn't have, and bingo cache was found and log signed TFTC
Walked up tp gz and found it first place I put my hand. Luck? Maybe just the samew caching mind as the CO is more likely!

I searched in a few places in between the muggles walking past, then i spotted a likely spot and soon had the CIH. Thanks for the cache GazMag.
Couldn't even find the flaming ROAD it is on hahahaha. Non starter for us, but tempted to go back again
After Heart Series, wow nice lake, good walk to GZ. searched searched for a while, finally found one... Good trick hide well thanks
It's Wednesday night so that means a late night cache. Need to be particular about which one to find as most PAFs wouldn't appreciate a 10pm call. This one was taking me too long and was starting to think I might need a plan B but I decided to pause and read some logs, go back far enough and you get a helpful description of the hide. Found it almost straight away with the new intel, SL #1416 on streak day #671 TFTC
Found @ 1600 hours. We must have been caching for too long, because this would have been very tricky for us in the past, but Benzito walked up to GZ and found it straight away. Very clever hide though and a very clever recycled container. We would love to know how you made that?
The lake here must be fed by stormwater as it has a nice oily sheen to the surface and is so turbid you can't see more than 1" deep. We felt sorry for the Pelican who was searching for food in there, surely he could find better water just across the road? We would love to live by the waterside, but not this water.
It's actually a really nice park area though with a great playground, and it was funny to see kids fishing next to the 'no fishing' sign.
TFTC Gazmag.

Phew!! What a search! Certainly a tricky one. Took today off work and decided to find a cache near home. Beautiful place this waterside. Anyway, after searching for 30 minutes or so and having to employ some stealth tactics a few times to deter dog walkers I eventually found it. TFTC! Very satisfying.
Nice hide, expertly done. Was a little scared to poke my hand into some of those places - tftc
TFTC clever, found this time around with the help of my camera

Left home early this morning 4:00am, pitch black headed down the thin black line again to return to Sydney’s Historic West, To polish off the remaining caches on my list in the Penrith area, And others of opportunity on the way home. After my DNF the other day I was determined to find this one, And lo and behold almost the first place I put my hand Bingo. Very sneaky hiding place. Great place and a great cache. TFTC

Found with help from a friend. Thank you for bringing us to this place Gazmag. The boardwalks are lovely and the kids had great time in the park.
Loved your hide spot... beautiful lake area - enjoyed walk... Signed the log with sevabo and skyejam. Thanks GazMag.
Great day out for caching - enjoyed your caches with Everlasting & skyejam. Thanks for leading us here
Called in on this cache this morning after seeing 2 DNF's.
The cache is all good, just where it should be.
