No joy for the tribe here. Checked the spoiler photo and location and couldn't find it and after 10 mins of brushing green ants off me I left and moved on to the next spot.Cool tree though. Thanks for the cache!
We collected all the information and we believe we found the object hiding the cache but could not locate the container. Thanks for the adventure though!
Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a stopover in Doha, Qatar. I have never been so long and so far away from home. An exciting time. When geocaching, the focus was on many different cache types, but also special ratings, challenges and especially a few very old caches from the years 2000 and 2001. But also, of course, especially the geocaches that were easily accessible on foot from the hotel.Of course, the focus wasn't just on geocaching; the sights of the individual stations we visited also deserved attention. We entered our team name Downunder 2024 in the logbooks, saving logbook space and efficiently. It was a very special trip in a large team, which was also a lot of fun.Today we went around Cairns with very interesting excursions.Due to the large number of caches, there is usually only one standard log, for which I would like to apologize to the different owners. Thanks for this geocache. Thanks for the elaboration. Thank you for showing me.Kind regards from Duisburg / GermanyAndyThis log entry is translated with the help of Google.
Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia and New Zealand for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar .We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien und Neuseeland .
Together with 37 Cachers, we start a journey to Australia and New Zealand via Doha.In Qatar we spent one night and had almost one full day before heading to Sydney. In Australia we visit the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Cairns. In New Zealand will be Aukland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. To safe Logbook space, we signed the logbooks with our team-name "DownUnder24".Our Teammembers are:\_gc_, AmoebeST, AndyausDu, B@cker-1, Biggidag, Brummelbren, CacheTaucher, cooljo, Fotopinguin, Freizeit-Tina, Gazelle5111, GEO Karen, GoanToni, Hfi1, hupsi-1, karrai*, Leilah03, lenny love, Lupus54, Maxipimpf, muschel3, Ollilein, Opaundenkel, penalty96, Rheins, Simowl, sozioma, Sr. Elli, Team Zyanor, viko76, Webmasterrollerin, Whlhase, XenSuoThank you for the Cache.
Today I meet my friends before heading to Iron Range tomorrow. Had some time before dropping off the hire car (so walked around Mt Whitfield - successfully) and then more time afterwards (airport shuffles for others) so I wandered around (less successfully) the CBD and harbour. It got hot but the sea breeze was nice.Last one for this stretch (might get one or two more in Cairns). Presolved and a quick find. Hope these puzzles are still available in a few years time.TFTC walterhellmut
On my last visit to Cairns back in December 2020, I didn't find this one. One of my mates took great glee in finding it a few days later and declaring that my eyes were painted on.
I was back in Cairns today transiting on my way to join some mates on a Cape York adventure. Today, despite the muggles heading to the nearby festival, I made a nice quick find. Was disappointed to find a glass caching container, which in my experience are prone to breaking and thereafter become a nightmare to clean up

After a whirlind trip from Brisbane to Cairns we needed a rest day to prepare for the next few weeks on our trip up to Cape York. This gave us a chance to pick up a few caches.
I had to talk to a few nearby muggles having a picnic to let us get into this cache. Easy find, but only thanks to the clue.

I’m on day four of a road trip from Brisbane to Cape York with Swellerfungus and Jezndez ……. Stopping along the way to stretch our legs and find some caches.
Having a rest day in Cairns today before heading off tomorrow. Luckily we didn’t need any fancy excuses for muggles.
Thanks for the hide.

We went for a walk along the esplanade enjoying the low tide view and some sunshine, plenty of muggles about too. Beach volleyball wasn't popular today. We walked around, found the information and GZ. TFTC
This was second on my pre-breaky stroll around Cairns this morning. My notes say that I've had it solved since January 2014 and possibly even had an unsuccessful look for it when last up this way back in 2017. Today though, armed with both the hint and the spoiler photo [8)], it was a nice quick find at 09:05.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks walterhellmut (new version since 27.7.2020).

Had a lovely walk around Cairns doing AL's and grabbing an actual cache or two.
Took a while to find it, but I got there.

A little early we had time for a walk along the esplanade and picked this one up along the way.

Cache has been replaced following discussion with the CO. I have placed it in the same location as per the Spoiler Pic. Hopefully it lasts in this very popular location.
Thanks for the hide here, Walterhellmut. I have indeed been “studying”Trees, Insects, Birds, micro-fungii, and many other interesting objects, when asked by muggles what I’m up to whilst looking for caches, especially if I have a notebook and pen in hand. Ah, the things we do…

I referenced the two spoiler photos and sad to say I couldn’t find the cache again, even with fresh eyes. I’m pretty sure the cache is not there.
I searched for a while, but no luck in finding this cache. Used the spoiler photos but still not luck.
Once we had amended our Co-ords we trotted the extra 117m from where we thought it was () and had a quick find whilst jumping up and down to avoid the ubiquitous ants that seem to love GZs round here - Tftc
Another quick find for the girls, well the boys did want to keep score TFTC walterhellmut
Solved this one yesterday, but there was a huge group of people next to the final, so I had to leave it behinds.
Back again today and that was not the case.
Found the cache quickly as well as a huge pile of ants around base of the tree
All good here!
Thanks

Wondering if this was small before the replacement canister.Another lovely day in Paradise. Thanks for the hide Walter and the quick replacement. Much appreciated.
After a big day out at Fitzroy Island, we decided to head to the wildly popular Muddy's Cafe for dinner which was so wildly popular that they resultantly took quite a while to prepare the food.
Still, it was pretty tasty, and put me in a great position to grab some caches on the way back.
This was the first of the pair for the evening, and one I distinctly remember solving back in Melbourne.
A bit of research revealed the numbers I needed with some pretty interesting clue questions in the mix.
I greatly enjoyed the trick involved to get the south coordinates for this one and am surprised I haven't seen it utilised digitally anywhere else.
Being effectively pitch black at the time, I employed the services of both my phone torch and the spoiler photo for my hunt.
It took me a minute to match up the angle in the poor light, but once I did, I could reach in and snatch the cache from its hiding place.
Thanks to walterhellmut for this puzzle and hide!

Thank you Walterhellmut for placing this cache. I am currently on a very short trip up north to conquer Mt Bartle Frere! Along the way I of course couldn’t pass by some of these very neat caches. It was fun solving this one and making the find. Another one for the matrix. The lid is entire eaten up
After having to give this a miss last time I was in Cairns I was determined to get the smiley on this trip. Sadly there was a lot of muggle activity at the GZ again . So I decided to wait it out. Thankfully after 10 minutes I was able to swoop in and make the find. I didn't have any spare log sheets on me today but is in need of a new log sheet. Thanks for another great hide Walter
Friendly gentleman sleeping out right by the prize but he was up for a chat so we were able to retrieve. Log has disintegrated. Managed to sign a piece. TFTC.
This puzzle had us stumped for quite some while, however a walk along the Esplanade today put us onto the right track. It was then a walk a little further along to GZ, however there were too many people sitting around and enjoying the warm air and beauty of the location. We came back again after lunch, and this time all was quiet.
It still took us some time to find, however we braved the green ants and eventually had our name added to the log sheet.
We have replaced it back exactly where we found it, and also covered it with a rock so that it should be a little easier for the next finder.
Thanks walterhellmut. The Esplanade and the Geocaching along there is lovely.

TFTC. Found while visiting family in Cairns. It was a bit hard to find, needed help from a friend
Still catching up on over 2000 logs to do from our trip. This is a location that we weren't expecting to visit but are so pleased we did. At last the weather is great so GT37 and I are having a great time exploring and caching as we go. There was a young girl doing yoga here and didn't seem to be enjoying it at all. The cache was a nice quick find. Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.
The young girl practicing yoga is going to need a nap. She does look like she is making hard work of it. Thanks for the cache.
Finally found with help from fellow cachers following the catch-up on 22/2/22! TFTC
A most disheartening DNF. I worked put the coordinates easily and was at the precise spot but there was no cache. I think it's missing
Found it! Solved this puzzle a while back and have been unable to make the find, due to the area being a high muggle area. We finally woke up early and made the find today! TFTC
Thanks for the puzzle and hide. In the fading light armed with a torch we made the find.

Cairns Queensland Dive trip 2021. I joined our Dive club for a trip to Cairns to go Diving on the Northern Great Barrier reef. We had a great time and I also went on a more local trip as well. In between there was time for caching around Cairns, and with a Hire care, two day trips to the surrounding areas.
Day 2. Today we joined the first boat of my trip, but in the early glow of dawn I ventured out to finish this one. I had found the information for it yesterday, but was determined to find it today to meet a Puzzle needed for this date. It was a VERY difficult find. Even with the image it was had to localise. I must say I stuck my hands into so many gaps, I was very happy when I felt something that was not broken glass. Lost of fun and a relief.
Thanks for the cache Walterhellmut

Staying up the road from here I decided on an early morning walk to grab this. I gathered all the clues bar one. I just could not see it anywhere. So I carried on walking and grabbed numerous others along here. Back at the hotel I realised that there were 2 clues for B and I knew that one. After dinner I made the family come for an extended walk and it was hubby that came up with the find.
(Aside. The next night I immediately saw the sign I missed while just walking past with the family. I can make hard work of caching sometimes!).

Found the same version as the previous 2 finders in the late afternoon sunshine. Having collected the latest version of information on a work trip last year. Thanks again Walter
With overseas travel currently out of the question and state border closures still a lurking as possibilities, my family and some close friends decided that travelling from Brisbane to North Queensland was our best option for a Christmas/New Year escape.
Having been on the road most days, we have stopped for a few days in Clifton Beach. With nothing else on my itinerary for this morning I decided to duck out for a few geocaches after breakfast. After lunch I headed off to the Esplanade in Cairns for a look around and a visit to a few more caches including this one.
As was the regular pattern over the last few days, the afternoon rains drifted in and fell upon as almost as soon as we left the car. I had noted the recent DNF of my fellow The Bromance team member Crookedpete, which was added incentive to find the cache. Using the spoiler photo provided by the CO the cache was found quickly in the very first place I looked. Obviously Crookedpete had his eyes painted on that day . Bragging rights to me on this one. With a green tick on my checked coordinates, I spent a good fifteen minutes here looking for something that matched the spoiler photo. Nothing remotely similar.
Then I realise that a throw down had been placed by the last finder - so it might not match the photo. So I searched for another five minutes but the green ants in the hanging roots of the tree were attacking me and I had had enough.
Another Cairns DNF....

Enjoying the beautiful Cairns weather with a ride along The Esplanade. Love that cyclists have been considered with a two way bike track on the new upgrading. And it was great there were quite a few caches to try and outwit us. Like this one. I dunno why it was but we were having more luck with the harder caches than the easy ones. TFTC Walterhellmut.
Went here today, saw the sign was replaced with a new one. Plus the logs saw its not there, so I think this needs attention.
Found the GZ and thanks to hints located where container should have been. But nothing there other than a piece of wood
We tried multiple times to get the coordinates correct, but not everything seemed to match the directions. Thanks anyway, walterhellmut.
Crikey !!
These Cairns puzzle and mult-caches are messing with me mind
They are so confusing !!
I set off on a stroll this morning to try and make sense of some of them
Here as usual I read the instructions,
attempted to follow the instructions,
and came up with a set of numbers,
that as usual gave me a set of coordinates somewhere off shore
I fudged a number to get the "X" on dry land and wandered off to look there
No cache found
So I wandered around a bit.
And close by where a couple of muggles were sitting,
I noted a spot that could match the clue
So I idled up to the spot and pretended to be interested in the location.
As the muggles ignored me,
I spied the cache
Gotcha !!
More by good luck than good management

We came for a late afternoon walk. This was the toughest of your puzzles for me to solve. I’ve got photos of all three signs involved. The main one is badly faded which made me question whether rollerblade wheels and the like were mistakes. I never managed to get the green checker but have walked past enough times to spot the tennis courts in one of the photos. Sadly the cache is too deep to retrieve and even though we took retrieval tools, the tree has started to grow around the jar and it couldn’t be retrieved.
I’ve attached as identical a photo I could take to proof our visit. There was a netball tournament starting which made the precinct even busier than usual. Thanks.

Adter I did all rhe promoted sports within the last days - I also checked all of the Activity Precinct" ("AP") signs.
So today (after I relaxed ) I went to the final coordinates and was happy to find the spot. As it was only 10 in the morning only some gardeners did there work.

Last time in Cairns I collected all the information bar the angle of the dangle. With the information to hand I was still on the water’s edge and that didn’t look right no matter what numbers I threw in.
With my meeting finished early yesterday walking back to the esplanade a particular tree looked familiar. On closer inspection I spotted the hide. Too many muggles around so came back this morning to collect.
Found my hands were too large for the crack so an alternative approach had the log in hand. Thanks for maintaining this puzzle WHM

We took a lovely walk along the promenade today and enjoyed a seafood lunch overlooking the boat harbour. Somehow we managed to find this cache! Not an easy one to retrieve, but we were lucky not to be overlooked by muggles, so could spend some time on the extraction. Replaced as found. SL. TFTC.
Frmen1 and I are discovering Cairns, one geocache at a time. A very quick solve and find. Took some touristy type photos as cover. Lots of Muggles around, that look like they're mostly in training for the Ironman this coming weekend. TFTC
Was here for work a few weeks back. After getting the Virtual, I continued along the boardwalk to the posted coords, where I studied the signs - I didn't get the answer I wanted, so I waited for a better time to do more review. Whilst waiting in the airport later that day, I tried a few options until I figured out the right coords.
Today, after a full day's work, I parked near GZ. Still plenty of muggles around, but darkness was my friend. I used the light on the phone to do a quick check, then extracted the container for a quick sign. TFTC walterhellmut. A fave for the effort of the puzzle and the nice area.

Thanks for this walk with a very nice weather.
Thanks for this walk with a very nice weather.
Madman04, DreamerSkye and myself had just driven the last four hours of our road trip up to Cairns. For the last two hours it had been POURING rain Not the best driving conditions! Thankfully as we made our way into Cairns the rain eased up enough for us to get out here and stretch our legs before heading to our accommodation.
The crazy weather was our friend here today, not many muggles out and about. This made it easier to retrieve the container. Good thing Madman04 has such skinny limbs, he easily plucked the beasty from it's hidey hole.
Thanks for the puzzle and smiley walterhellmut

I replaced the missing container.
Now it is in a hole on the west of the tree in a place hard to get to. Your arm should not be too wide, or you cannot get it out again.

I can confirm this cache has gone (but to get the smiley I will log as found).
When I first looked for this cache, I checked every tree crevice, but did not find anything.
I logged the DNF, but noticed the CO spoiler pictures. Well I was sure I looked there, but maybe I missed it.
Finally getting back to look again, I can confirm there is NO cache at that location.

I needed some help from the CO with the puzzle for this one. But I was finally able to get coordinates that passed the GeoChecker.
However I was not able to find the cache. I even stuck my hand in all the dark cervices to feel for the cache (which is how I discovered another walterhellmut cache), but still found nothing.
But when logging this cache, I noticed the CO spoiler photo! I will try again!

I walked past GZ yesterday afternoon and there was a muggle sleeping right next to the cache! This morning I went for an early morning assault to try again and the coast was clear. A fiddly retrieval but an easy find using the helpful spoiler photo. TFTC

Knowing that the cache was back I made an attempt late this evening. Quickly found the tree in the spoiler pic. Getting the three to giveup thecache was a bit on a struggle with large hands. Returning it was very quick!
Thanks for the cache walterhellmut

Unfortunately, the final had become unsuitable. Thus I found a new hiding hole to which keen Geocachers are now directed.
Everything is fine now to be solved and found.

Seeing I was staying across the road I was able to visit all the waypoints several times as I wasn't sure my co-ords for GZ were correct. Eventually worked out how to interpret the questions to get the right answer. Headed over after the rain from last night but was unable to locate a cache. I did find a stick that would sort I indicate I was in the right spot. Greenery is completely gone. I did find a small car in the adjacent spot which I left where it could be found.

Really happy to have made the find today. A few muggles were sitting on the benches near by for a while but thankfully left giving me the chance to make the grab. Container is in good shape. Well hidden.
