26-Oct-24
In Dunedin with rattll for the first full day of GeoToroa. Teamed up with watcache to explore Otago Peninsula. The day started off drizzly, and slowly got worse, so we were all wet and cold by the end of the day. Nevertheless, we had a good haul of caches, and mostly no problems with finding. Tftc!

26-Oct-24
Day two of the MEGA, and matagouri and I have teamed up with watcache to explore the otago peninsula and get as many caches as we could, while braving the bitter cold rain and wind.Despite the weather we had a lot of fun. Thanks to all the CO's for setting up and maintaining these caches. We met up with some fellow cachers here, who did the hard yards for us

26-Oct-24
Met up with other like minded people here it was not too long before the signing duties were done signed as wrm

Coh went up there after a while of looking in the wrong spot. Fabulous commitment and cache in hand quick! Park almost right next to scramble

Awesome cache, raining. Got first point wrong so lookednat spoiler photo and found it

26-Oct-24
Thanks CO Hilton for doing the climbing. Picture helped.

12-Sep-24
Made the climb ok to find the little woman's empty mint tube in RRP after some numby let the logbook fly. Had a prepared cache anywho with log paper to accommodate the mega event hoards banging the peninsula. The best parking cache in Highcliff and still has a cache at it. A shame the Dunnas no longer look after this one, the GZ deserves a cache. Someone cared enough, cache repaired to the rocks. TFTC

02-May-24
I located a few caches today near Dunedin and on the Otago Peninsula. Unfortunately this wasnt one of them. I spent a little while looking for it, doing quite a bit of clambering up the bank in various places. My coords certainly didnt lead me directly to it! The smell was obvious today, but sadly the cache wasnt! On to the next one

01-Apr-24
On a roadie with Hal2929 today. We are both trying to complete a challenge requiring 100 caches from 100 different cache owners. Not so easy when you live in an area with only a dozen or so goecaching people placing caches. So Hal2929 found a good number of caches that neither of us had previously picked on earlier trips north. Thanks Castlewood Crew for placing and maintaining this cache so I could come and find today. Great day out in reasonable weather. We saw lots of amazing views and picked up lots of different CO's caches. This was a previous DNF for me and everytime I drive past I want to go have another look. Today I had a previous finder with me so once I knew where to look it became easy. Used a previous finders photo to help as well.

03-Feb-24
After climbing the rocks with no success, I eventually found the correct location and the cache soon followed TFTC

The kids absolutely loved scrambled up here. The big geokid decided after a wee bit of looking he wanted to see a log pic and decided he knew where to look- a moment later he had itin his hand.

Lovely parking spot here, TFTC. I emptied the water out of the container, signed the log and hid it in an upright position to help it shed water.

On the way back from Sandfly Beach we stopped here for a short time to log this nice box.

Luckily two days of glorious weather meant that this cache was an easy leap, scramble, hoik . . . up the cliff to the spot. Knew that everyone had kinda given up on this cache and even with a temporary logslip in the rusty chewy mint tin, the lid was rusted shut and came asunder once pried open. Popped in a shiny clean, dry Mentos tube with a RITR log page. The Locals aren't coming back to look after this cache, I have done the maintenance so it can last a bit longer. Provided no one removes my logslips. Didn't notice the pong until we drove closer to town. Having lived across the road from a similar farm years ago, the fragrance was only noticed on Easterly days or when the fog descended stilling the air in the Autumn. Hint is not wrong! Wiith my heart in my mouth, up I went to the cache location, fortunately on a dry, sunny day. Located the GZ but wasn't able to sign log as the cache has rusted shut. Photo of cache attached instead.

06-Aug-20
My original guess of where it would be proved to be wrong after a bit of a scramble. After reading some logs I soon had GZ honed in and the log signed. No smells today with the breeze coming in from the northeast. Tftc

18-Mar-20
Well we have the view, and yes it is a bit smelly here Big Grin

After all these years at least the smell is consistent. Now I will have to confess, whilst I was up top retrieving the cache a car pulled over. A elderly couple where interested, but concerned. I think they were very happy to see my back on the level.

Log signed, thanks for the hide Castlewood_Crew

On my way to last Dunedin TMGT. This looked like a bit of a challenge and it wasn't actually as bad as I thought it would be. Cache was where I first looked. No poo small today. A bit hazy for a good photo but the view is magnificent. Thanks for placing a cache here.

At last! After I think three efforts spanning probably as many years, I finally got my hands on this cache. Well... that isn't quite fair - with my injury, hevic and safetykat had to do all of the legwork. But legwork they did, hevic especially. Once the spot had been nailed I played the support role by passing hevic the pen, the stamp, and a fresh log to replace the sodden one. My only regret was not bringing a clothespeg. Cheers!

15-Dec-19
Found with CJ-CURRY and SafetyKat - replaced soggy log Smile

15-Dec-19
Well named! What a smell. The first stop on my, Hevic and CJCurry's afternoon adventure. I located the hiding spot and gave up there, then C&H climbed up and found it in a much less convenient spot. Took a lot of effort, and a replacement log, before the cache could be finished with. Tftc!

Tl;dr: Log has been replaced

14-Dec-19
Unfortunately the log book for this cache was very wet when I found it. I am happy to see that this problem seems to have been resolved in the meantime.
Thanks for the cache!

12-Dec-19
Guessed where it was and won. Logbook not signable. Photo as proof.

12-Dec-19
Wet logbook.

07-Oct-19
Log was pure pulp. Couldn't write my name on it. Needs maintenance

07-Oct-19
Cool find involving a little scramble, Yah Aight got up there fast only to find a sodden log book- needs replacing after the recent spring showers we’ve been having.

29-Sep-19
Super quick find on the way back from 'Paradise Track'

25-Aug-19
Was here some years ago but unsuccessful. Today we hit the jackpot but not without a hunt high and low. Logbook is just pulp now soon signing possible but photo attached. TFTC

25-Aug-19
Cache log pulped.

24-Feb-19
DNA. Too many muggles around at the time, particularly touring muggles (I mean, it was as if it had suddenly hit peak hour when I turned around and saw all the vehicles). Best saved for another day, and when I have more appropriate gear on.

14-Sep-18
I have driven past this spot many a time looking and thinking about how I was going to get this cache. This morning I had eve07 with me so the cache was soon found. Everything is very wet.

02-Sep-18
GPS had me in the middle of the parking spot, with many likely hides within 5 metres or so. But found in first place looked, and the most obvious on reflection of the hint.
Was able to sign although damp, but the log book is quite a squeeze in the container. TFTC Castlewood Crew, no smells here today.

Day 5 of 8 touring around the South Island.
Not much happening today. It’s a bit cold so we do the touristy thing and head out to Larnach castle. Nice walk around, great views although not the best day for it. An interesting part of NZs history. After that a bit of shopping in town, then it was back to the digs to put the feet up and keep warm. Except I wanted a few local caches for the day, so left Jo at home and went for a drive for an hour or so. Found the short-cut between St Clair and Larnach castle while I was at it. Thanks to all COs.

We left a fast log and moved on.

16-Sep-17
No smells here today. Found after both Frame Family and I did a bit of climbing. The log book is soaking so couldn't sign. Tftc.

16-Sep-17
Third time lucky for this one. The last time we were here the smell was so bad we couldn't stand it and had to leave. No foul smells today thankfully and found it with a bit of help from a photo in the logs. Unable to sign log book as it was very wet and slimy, have taken a photo of the log book it needed. Found with Kerynz! TFTC!!

A bit of a scramble given the recent wet weather, but the find was quickly made. Thankfully not too pongy today at GZ. Had to include a new bit of paper, courtesy of U.N.C.L.E. TFTC Smile

Found while on a geocache hunt down the peninsula, gps initial had me in the wrong direction but caught on quickly. Careful what you grab when climbing some of the rocks are loose. TFTC

No luck this time

GPS had us in the middle of the very smelly carpark. Made a guess as to where we thought it would be and proceeded up. No luck so had a look at previous logs and a spoiler pic. Cache soon in hand. TFTC

On my mission to reach 2000 before the end of the year, so glad to have something nearby to attempt after work.

So glad attempted whilst the area is dry, was a bit crubmly underfoot but held as I signed the log. Good thing had my green jacket on so bit camo as a fair number passing.

22-Jul-16
We took the opportunity to collect a few caches after dropping off the dog at the kennels. It was also a chance to enjoy the views as the sun set.
Luckily it was in the first place we looked.
We had a spare tin in the car so swapped it for the lidless one, which went straight into the recycling - very handy!

That stunk. Quite nasty [xx(] !!!

As someone who is terrified of spiders, this was not fun! Picked up a stone and a massive big-a$ spider crawled out from it. I walked into about three cobwebs and nearly died, then I saw exactly where the cache would be - blocked by about three more cobwebs. So I half managed to clamber up, and used a stick to pry the thing out!!! I must have looked a right narna! Big Grin

30-Apr-16
A wee scramble up and I soon had it in hand. Thanks Smile

Easily found but the lid is missing off the container. Was nice to catch up with a friend by chance today but the smell is not pleasant to have a picnic here today! PU! TFTC

Last couple of times the bank was a bit damp so I didn't bother. Today everything was nice and dry and it was a quick find. Everything nice and dry.

GPS was jumping around a bit so took a guess at where it might be - luckily it was the first place we tried. tftc

The plan was hatched a few years ago now and it has been a standing weekend away with a few of us mad keen cachers. This trip was made up of Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and me (TheWanglers). We couldn't use a previous anagram to sign the logs as one member was in Aussie. So we had to come up with another... Hmm, KiTT? We decided on KiTT but after signing the first few logs something KR mentioned took a while for me to sink in and I didn't really take on board until the next time I signed the log. "Hey, the double 'TT' looks like Pi!". Oh, that's what KR said! So we signed the log this trip as KaTT pronounced 'Kapai'! And the trip was kapai!!! We had an epic weekend starting with a detour to Peel Forrest for a few FTFs, stopped in Omaru, thrashed Dunedin and detoured to Port Charmers for a FTF and then back to Pleasant Point and Peel Forrest to finish off the weekend with more FTFs. We got home to our families at a respectable hour after clocking up just over 1100km!
We had a few milestones we really wanted to crack. My 4000th, TG's 5000th and KR's 10,000th. We cracked my and KR's goal and got really close for TG. It really is about the numbers. This trip was awesome as it has given me some ideas WinkBig Grin
Decided that after dinner to head up the penninsula. Quick find

Thanks for the cache.

Thankfully Mr All7ofusNZ was wearing his grippy shoes so accessing the cache didn't prove to be too difficult. It was a relief that no muggles passed by as GZ is rather exposed, however having signed the log and returned the cache a muggle did happen to pull into the area just as the car was started. Carried on up the road to the next cache, TFTC.

Spotted likely spot on approach so got into climbing mode (turning my cap backwards) and off I went while Chelzea watched on with her usual "be careful" and yep there it was. Back down to sign and another climb to replace. Good views but I don't know about the "picnic" part. Certainly different than what Google street view shows. TFTC

TFTC nice and dry where it is hidden even with all the rain we have had, it was a stiff wee climb but managed it without falling.

24-Jun-14
Lucky we are tall!

24-Jan-14
The large limb is not hindering the cache in any way Smile

19-Jan-14
I'm picking that the rather large limb has buried the cache, given my efforts and the other DNF today and the fact that everyone else seems to think there is an obvious spot. Coords also pointed out into the middle of the car park area.

19-Jan-14
Could not figure this out and being wet, we were not going to be brave.

02-Jan-14
Nice climb

28-Nov-13
Well no smell today, fortunately, as I would have had to endure it for some time as I walked past.

Could see the most probable spot as I approached, so decoded the clue to see if I was wrong, but I wasn't Sad. It was then that the title clicked. As an ex-climber it was not really the terrain I liked, but still soon had the cache in hand. Great views from there, it would be a great space for a picnic/tea stop with a bit of imaginative restoration.
