Due to NOT finding a safe / longterm / suitable hidey hole ... I will unfortunately have to let this one go.

29-Mar-16
Apologies -

Checked hide on the 20th - unfortunately the hide has yet again been muggled.

Will look into a new hidey hole once the construction crew are done with the road works

14-Mar-16
I had previously tried for this one but not gotten all the way. Tonight, after a nearby dinner, I came armed with a big hint and was able to check out GZ. Unfortunately the good hide was quite bare. Sad

Spiffy- and I attempted this cache tonight. Projection was good and found a reflector... then a double but no clue? Found more reflectors so continued then more double and no clue. We must be missing something... Then found more and what we think wad telling us was GZ. Walked to it. Climbed it... hmm nope. Then found a hidey hole with half a pink box... but was this once the cache. Don't quite think we followed this one. Oh well. Will watch it. Thanks shogun- for the cache.

06-Feb-16
Fleabag- and I both had to be up early for various reasons so we needed a night cache that wasn't going to take until midnight so we headed down this way.
We met at our rendezvous point and jumped in the same car and headed down this way and after completing the nearby Langwarrin by night we headed over to this cache.
After making the 1st couple of projections we found the reflector straight away and very soon after a double reflector. Spent a few few minutes looking for clues among a few bull ants on the tree. Nothing, so we moved on after finding more reflectors.
Another double reflector, no clue. Moved on again until eventually we found a clue which sent us to a very likely looking tree matching the description and Fleabag- was up there like a rat up a drain pipe. He found nothing so came back down. I then found another great hiding spot in the tree full of rocks and a pink box. I thought I had found it? Maybe I had but the box had no lid, no logbook or anything so I doubt that is what we were looking for but that was all we could find tonight!
Thanks shogun- for the cache, the hunt and the fun. I will keep a eye on it.

While staying in Frankston waiting for the big Mega event tomorrow Geodaughter 'Karopi' persuaded us to accompany her to this night cache. We didn't need much convincing so we packed torches and plenty of spare batteries and were soon on our way.

After dark the signs were easy to follow and we meandered our way around the park carefully checking for the next...and the next....and the next....and so onBig Grin

We were glad to make use of the hint at the first waypoint but after that everything we needed was easy to findRazz

Geodaughter very kindly offered to make the climb when we arrived at GZ and retrieved the cache for us to sign the log. It was soon replaced and we were on our way back to the Geomobile with big grins on our facesBig Grin

Very many thanks shogun- for entertaining us this evening....we had a ball[^][^][^]. Another favourite point on it's wayBig Grin

After a slow start to November, caching-wise, I decided it was time to revisit the park in which I made my first ever (not particularly successful) investigation into the night-cache genre. I recall the initial projections leading me to the reflector trail on that occasion, but I lost track of said trail around the half-way point. Having taken advantage of a significantly brighter torch tonight the intended path was much clearer, so it's likely the rather wimpy torch I used back then was part of the problem. The subsequent clues turned out to be clear and unambiguous and, I think it's fair say, very much in keeping with the CO's now familiar clean, no-nonsense style. Smile A potential hidey-hole was spied at GZ, and with quite a bit of assistance, I performed the required manoeuvre and confirmed it to be the location of the cache. Great to have this one resolved! Thanks once again shogun- for a solid night-cache. A favourite.

19-Sep-15
Went out to try and do a night cache and show the two geo-teens what a night cache was like. Started to flow the RF's think got to the last one found one RF on the ground. Put it back up, not sure if that was the last of the RF's to look for, but looked and looked and looked found no clues and no other RF's.
As I see by the other log's that it has not been found sense the third mouth of this year, so it may need looking into if the trail is in works.
But still had fun as the sports track was in use that night for some event sure wonder woman running around the track HAHA and that is no lie.

Braved the icy winds tonight for our regular Friday night caching. Nice walk around this park following little shinies. After a bit of head scratching at WP2, figured the GZ. Headed across, did the excitement dance, then comes sad face. Back track. No we're pretty sure we're right. Back to GZ. Another more thorough look. An hour later, we give up. Will keep an eye on this one and will return if a later smiley appears. Cheers!

03-Jul-15
Out night caching with OzHockeyChick & 88andy88, Found both clues & found what we think is GZ & a very likely hiding spot but no cache. We back tracked to WP2 but kept coming back to the same spot. Will have to keep an eye on this one.

03-Jul-15
OzHockeyChick , daznjaneo and I decided to head out on our usual friday night caching mission and this one was on our list for a little while.
We hit the road and parked finally at the start point ready to rumble. Opened car door and HOLLLYYY CRAPANOLA the wind was FLAMMMING FREEZING.....ok well cold anyway.
We all set our gps units (alias mobile phones) and began walking in the projected direction. WP1 solved and WP2 soon after solved. Spent a little time walking in the cold looking for the first RF's but sure enough found some and began following. We found one that seemed to be close together as described and began searching....FRIIIIGGGGIIINNNGGG SPIDERS.......OK i have spotted another RF.....thank god we moved on from this spot....False alarm....
We continued on to find the next WP which was towards the second last point of importance.
Found and took some thinking but after a group discussion we set our gps's and heading towards the final....
YAYYYYYY.....we found the spot we thought but......NO PRIZE.....Sad
We searched high and low and far and wide for over an hour to no find even though we think we found the perfect place for the cache to of been in.....
We fought the wind and the chill of minus 200 factor for nothing but a nice brisk walk in the cold night...lol
Will keep an eye on this one and return if CO checks and tells us it is good to go....We have been known to be wrong..........once i think...lol

I met up with the CO this evening so that I could have a little instruction on night caching and to see where I had gone wrong last time. I was two reflectors from target. I spotted them straight away tonight, I do not know how I missed them last time. Collected the required data and off we went to GZ. I needed to be a bit more flexible but managed to retrieve in the end. SLLNTN. Thanks to Shogun for showing me the ropes. It was nice to meet.

We went to check out another local multicache as I suspected the stash was missing. It was confirmed I had the corre t location and AWOL so I will advise the CO.

12-Mar-15
In the area for another cache and as the sun was setting I decided to have another go. The CO advised that the reflector trail was sorted so I did not expect too many issues.

Having started where I lost the trail last time I soon picked up more reflectors. The description indicates that when two reflectors are found xlise together then the information to determine GZ would be apparant. Trouble is I found several pairs of teflectors and even a quadruple but the trail continued.

I spent a bit of time checking the trail but the last I found was a single. I found no information to lead me to GZ. I will have to try again soon.

05-Mar-15
Shogun thanks for fixing and sending me a personal update. I will be sure to have another go and will let you know how it goes. I'll keep your details on hand incase I need to PAF.

04-Mar-15
Yorsys -Thx for raising the maintenance issue - I'm happy to report the "reflector trail" is in good working order!!

I have since put in place extra RF's to enable an EZI trial to follow. However, I must point out - the bright lights of both the athletic track & the oval will hinder the reflectiveness of the RF trail. If the bright lights are NOT in use then there should be no problems in following the trail.

I recommend a good quality torch in order to detect the RF trail.

19-Feb-15
Could the CO please check the reflector trail. I was only able to locate the first one. The previous finder clearly could not locate tge trail either and that was with someone who had already found the cache.

I am not logging a DNF for this until the CO can confirm the trail is ok or rectifed it and I can make another attempt.

TIA.

Find #1497
I again teamed up with Stemicmitsar for a Friday night caching run. I scouted this cache a few weeks ago to try and determine what was entailed in the tree climb. I only got as far as the end of the reflector trail and could go no further. Tonight was a repeat performance. [B)] I did however have a previous finder with me and so we proceeded to scour the park with our torches, both of which rival the sun for brightness. Wink We walked quite some distance and found dozens of reflectors but they were all attached to the white posts beside the roads and had been placed there by the Council or Vicroads. Razz We also encountered one young guy, sitting on a kerb under a street light, reading. Surprised Why he was there, sitting on cold concrete and reading something, I have no idea. We said "G'day" and kept walking.
After some time, Steve thought he recognised the tree we were seeking and sure enough it was. I signed the log and cache was returned to its hidey hole.
Knowing where GZ was, we looked long and hard for a reflector to indicate that this was GZ, but couldn't see anything here or that would lead to here.
I only found this because I had a previous finder with me and will email the CO because maintenance seems to be required.
SL TFTC. Another night cache for me. Big Grin

#5471 We were in "the big smoke" with Coruze for the weekend trying to tick off some of their D/T grid. In doing so we've had several excursions to town now and a night cache or two has always been on the agenda Big Grin. This cache proved to be a little tricky on occasion but we managed our way through pretty well - no cache blindness tonight Wink. Dad particularly enjoyed the GZ portion of the cache. Nicely put together and a great deal of fun Razz. Our thanks to shogun- for putting together this night cache in a great area. Cheers [^]

22-Mar-14
It's starting to become a tradition that while we are in Melbourne we do atleast 1 night cache, they are just so much fun [;D]
We worked our way through the instructions calculating our bearings and following tacks. There was some training going on nearby but by the time we got near them they had finished and went inside.....can't complain about that! Big Grin At one of the waypoints it was the Queen who investigated further on what we thought was something else, but she was right and we continued along the way. At GZ the cache was found in good condition and hidden away from muggles. Thanks for the fun 'shogun-

Bit hard to start off with as one of the RF's had come off with the bark. Have replaced it.
Found a torch with a bright white light works better than the yellow light ones.
Enjoyed the find took us a while to find the trail but it worked out in the end.

What a great cache !!!
So much effort has gone into the thought and layout of this multi that I would recommend this to any other cachers out there. Robyn60 and I did the hard yards a few months ago but got stuck on the last clue due to a mental block that We couldn't work out, but after talking to the CO Joey I thought the time was right to finish it off. After dinner & late on Saturday night I made my way down there and what do you know it was right under my nose.
Thankyou Shogun, a favourite point from me. Sorry it took me so long to log.

Found tonight with a little help form Shogun along the way.

Great cache to start off nigh-caching with, learning the ins and outs of night-cache protocol and terminology.

REALLY important that a strong torch is required. I thought I had a strong enough torch, but alas, I didn't. Luckily Shogun had his own so yeah Smile If you think you have a STRONG torch, go find one that's stronger. THAT'S the level of light you'll need.

Brilliant trail that had us walking around for a good 45 minutes at a casual pace. Lovely to see Ballam park at night... or... not see.... because... well, it was night.

First to sign the new log book as it HAD been muggled, but, luckily Shogun had a spare with him just in case and he was right Smile

Definitely reccomending this to cachey friends.
Fave from me.

All good to go Wink

The RF trail has had a makeover - A lot easier to pickup & follow the trail.

Enjoy

NOTE:
Apologies for not re-enabling ...

Upon replacing the missing WP - I discovered that a number of RF's have gone missing - shall return under the cover of darkness to replace missing RF's.

This was our final cache for our evening of night caching. It turned out to be another fun adventure as we got to explore this area. With a quick call when we got stuck part of the way along, we soon had the missing information and were on our way to GZ. Thanks shogun- for the cache and your other night caches that we found earlier. It turned out to be a highly entertaining evening.

25-May-13
Another epic run and adventure consisting of myself, Square_pegs and Two_Drews. Starting in the afternoon, heading into the night, we cached until late finding a stack load of caches in the Frankston / Langwarrin area.

The weather was fantastic with a bright full moon to accompany us later on helped find a mixed collection of caches with mysteries, multis, traditionals, night caches, chirps, tree climbs, possums and a few nice walks thrown in as well. We had a small late night dinner at a nearby Burger King, errr I mean Hungry Jacks which was actually good and helped fuel us on.

A good park and an even better place for a nightcache that had us a little perplexed looking for a missing WP but we got some help from the CO and not long afterwards we were heading in the right direction. At GZ it was a quick find in a great hiding spot. Thanks Shogun-. Favourite for me.

This turned out to be an epic and legendary day and nightcaching run with abl973 and Square_pegs. Laughs were had, burgers were consumed, possums were spotted, and many batteries were sacrificed to the Geo Gods.

I really enjoyed the walk thru the park with good company - it sure beats doing nightcache's on your own. The firetack trail was followed but a missing clue meant a phone call to the CO was made to get us on track again. The container was out of my normal reach and beyond my climbing abilities, but thankfully abl973 was on hand to retrieve/replace it! Thanks for the caching fun Joe.

TFTC, Team Mornington, Skip2992, Hazey1, Biger12, MrMcGee and Saulman1010. Headed out to grab a few night caches in the local area. Upon arriving on this one, met another caching team Smile Headed to WP and began following the trail of reflectors, lucky i had the led lenser in the kit to make it easier to pick them up over a greater distance but still had to walk out from each to see the next one. Made it to the climb and was nominated as usual to go up Wink . A great multi, enjoyed by all.

Found as part of a great evening with Lochb and Quiet1_au. We had a BBQ in the park for tea and then in fading light we set off. Found the information required and located GZ. I did the tree climb which was relatively easy. Thanks shogun

Team Mornington, Skip2992, Hazey1, Biger12, MrMcGee and Saulman1010, out and about on a school holiday evening activity.
Perfect night to grab a couple of local night caches.
Good evening to the other party of cachers we met briefly near GZ tonight, nice to meet you, catch you again in the trail somewhere.
Well set out cache, using a large part of the park but I think we needed higher power torches, we had to fan out to find a couple of the reflectors, but we found them all in the end.

After a long day of caching and a yummy BBQ in this park we had finally reached night caching light conditions! Guided by quiet1_au, G of GJMMelb and I followed the reflectors and tags up to GZ. G then retrieved the container, and "assisted" me in replacing it.

Nice to meet another team of cachers! What a coincidence.

[What a fun night multi!

I am trying to introduce Mrs Darky to the concept of night caches. I fear this may not have turned her around though, apparently she's not quite as hooked on these things as me.

Anyway, quickly did the projections, and ended up in the right spot. And then it all went a little pear shaped. Found the first reflector quickly, and then made an incorrect assumption about where to go, and could not find another reflector for the life of me!

Went back to the first reflector, had a good look around, no luck. Instead, I let the ol' cacher's instinct kick in, and we wandered off in a different direction. Ah-ha! Another reflector! After that, followed the surprisingly long trail, though had a few problems with spotting reflectors amongst the street lights. After that, it was a simple process of following the waypoints, until we got to the infamous GZ. Missus did the acrobatics, but didn't like the look of the spiders around, so hand-balled it to me. I grabbed it, signed log, replaced, then we wandered back to the car, happy in the knowledge of a well-earnt smiley.]

I gotta be honest, I was really hoping this might have half the coords to EZI AZ (The Lost cache). Nope, not unless it was written in UV. Oh well! I'll find it eventually, I'm sure.

28 December 2012 01:10:00

This was the final night cache for the morning.

Danozz had us projected quickly and the chase was on.

The trail was lost and found on a number of occasions.

Once we narrowed the search the rest was all good.

Monkey boy was soon in front of us with the log.

We signed and moved on.

Last week, when completing Whyndam Lights with Danozz, Pathfinder24, Ostra74 and quiet1_au, we all decided a night caching evening was in order. Unfortunately quiet1_au couldn't make it, and after completing the first cache Pathfinder and Ostra headed home. So it was just themd, Danozz and I, who headed down the bay.

We picked this cache up, at 01:12am. Our final cache for the evening. My sore hip was starting to take it's toll on my by this stage. I have to admit to being a passenger on this one, all bit it a 'walking' one. He boys did all the work, and I just trailed along behind. With the exception on one reflector that I spotted first anyway. The cache was found and the log, which was shiny and new thanks shogun-, and we them made the long trek home.

Thanks for the cache shogun-.

28-Dec-12
It was getting late (well it was far past late and getting to the silly stage) but we were already down past Frankston, so we had to get another night cache in and make the trip worthwhile. We considered doing The Crossing, although all the logs online suggest that they needed owner assistance - it sounds a bit too difficult, we'll try it when it's earlier so we can potentially get in on the PAF action.

I sorted out the projection ahead of time, and picked a handier car parking spot. We couldn't pick out the second reflector, wandered off in the wrong direction, and I backtracked in order to pick up on the trail. TheMD went ahead and lead the way, with myself and Louise following up the rear. The rain began to pick up just as we were wrapping up the multi, The looked in one likely tree while I ascended another and it turned out my tree was the correct one.

Found @2325 #2048
Caching with best mate and caching wingman ahomburg on a mid week night caching run. This was the 2nd of 2 caches found tonight and another high quality night cache.Razz Started with the projections which I do enjoy and found the reflector trail but then we lost it but then found it again.

Had to stay sharp to spot these little guys but sure enough after 10mins we were at the 2 reflectors with the info found and proceed thru to the calculated GZ a short time later. We were pretty sure the calc's were correct and a likely hide was seen but no cache? So we left not sure if the cache was missing or if we were wrong. A check with the CO the next day confirm that it was missing and that we were in the right spot. Permission to log cache as found granted. TFTC shogun and the effort and time taken to set this one up, just awesome, a favorite from me.[^]
This was also the 300th Multi cache that I have found, double yay!! Big GrinBig Grin

Find # 2223

I did not have my normal Basketball game tonight, so I contacted my caching buddy to see if he was interested in doing a couple of night caches. After finding a nearby Night cache, we headed to this one to finish off the night. This one started off straight forward, but a short time later we lost the reflector trail. Eventually managed to pick it up again and eventually got to the double reflector tree and onto next waypoint then to GZ. After lots of clambering around we came up empty handed even tho we were fairly sure of our position. I took a photo of GZ and sent it to the CO and he confirmed we were in the right spot and the cache was indeed missing. Permission to log was granted. A favourite point awarded.

Thanks again to shogun- for the cache. TNLN [:p]

Found with Roostaman on a big day out caching around the area. Sure was an adventure finding this one, I needed a bit of assistance with the Final GZ, if only I was ten years younger and did not have a stuufed shoulder. Thanks Joe for the cache.

Found on another great nite trek with The Demolition Crew. The weather was clearing for a while so it looked like a dry night but it changed and the rain turned on and off for hours. We had a fun bike ride to log a few good caches and abandoned the 2nd leg of the bike tour of the Peninsula due to the weather, but found more caches driving around instead. Overall, an excellent night to remember.

This stop took me a few tries to work out how to get in to the right spot after a fuel stop nearby, and finally got there just in time as the others had a head start. Nice hide which took a while to find, just because we weren't looking properly. TNLNSL TFTC,
Roostaman.

Another legendary night run with the The Demolition Crew (TDC) being myself, TrailRunning and Quasar3671. Again with us tonight for the run was Roostaman from Wagga, to enjoy another champion run. The nights agenda was to focus on "Night Caches" which may sound strange for our group, considering we do 99% of our caching at night, but so few of them are actual night caches. Numbers were needed for myself and Roostaman for the "Night Caching Masters Challenge" cache. The target areas were Frankston night caches and the Point Nepean night caches, both areas by push bike. Lots of fun at night, with a torch gaffa taped to the handlebars of a bike... Cool.

The highlight of the night for me, well there were two, me getting my 4000th GC find at Above The Commanding Officer - Carbine, and the celebrated find, in driving rain, at Puzzlemania 7 - Maths Test. Weather was not the best on the night, but we still managed over 60 finds for the entire day, including the run to Melbourne. Another great night, can't wait until the next.... Stay tuned all you caching folks out there.....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was fun. Had some muggle trouble with footy training, but they were busy with their own thing, and paid us very little attention. Gathered what info we needed and then made the final projection to GZ. We did indeed waste some time at GZ, not reading the description correctly, but once we did so, the cache was soon in hand. TFTC shogun. Fav point again.

18-Jun-12
It was another legendary night caching run with my fellow TDC (The Demolition Crew) team members Quasar3671 and Blacklegend. In tow, once again, was our good caching buddy Roostaman from Wagga. While Q and I already have more than the required numbers for the Australian Night Caching Masters Challenge, our country kin needed to grab a few more to get them to the required numbers. The really weird thing is that TDC almost always cache at night, but 99.9% of those caches don’t count for the challenge! So here we were lined up to do Frankston Area night caches and the Point Nepean night caches by bike. The Frankston area night caches (5 in total) and quite a number of traditional caches were cleaned up in less than a few hours. It was then a matter of collecting a few of the harder puzzle caches on the way to Point Nepean. We were having so much fun on the Peninsula that we eventually decided to abandon the Point Nepean night caches leg of the journey and continue to score some big numbers in the Dromana – Portsea area. In total it amounted to a night of 53 caches being collected.

The absolute highlight of the night was watching Blacklegend pull himself up to reach “Above the Commanding Officer – Carbine” for his 4,000 GC.com cache find. Blacklegend you are an absolute LEGEND!

After the obligatory photo of the cache in hand, we hit the tarmac, dirt tracks, streams and cow paddocks to continue the run. While the weather was not the best, it’s something we have come to expect, and all being well prepared, we had a great night. Added to the morning cache total of about 13 caches I think my personal total for the run was well over 60 caches for the day. You little ripper!

Cache log - We calculated the final GZ from teh information we gathered, but as we didn't use the hint, we wasted too much time looking for what should have been an easy find. Another night cache under the belt.

16-Jun-12
Kids had a ball last weekend so we took them out for another night cache. Almost did a full lap of the park before we spotted the second reflector, thought we were meant to stick to the path rather than head bush. Once the second reflector was found the trail was fairly clear, including the two possums. First clue was clear as mud, second I have no idea what it is meant to mean, I found gz on a hunch on the way back (helps when we had looked at possible hides here over 12mths ago).
Thanks for the cache shogun Big Grin

And wouldn't you know it 45min after first seeing the clue it has just hit me what it meant, ahhhh!

19-May-12
This was the sixth of around 7 caches for the day. This was the last weekend I had to cache for a while, so I took the opportunity to find a few around Frankston that have been on my to-do list for much too long.

Somehow, when this one was published, I had missed it Razz. During a conversation with Joe, I finally realised that there was a new night cache down this way! Right, gotta get that one soon.....

Tonight was the night. I had an opportunity to find it and find it we did Smile.

We started off well and though the reflectors were spaced apart, we were able to follow the trail pretty well. It was actually much longer than what I expected however soon enough, we were at the double. Right, that seems like an easy enough spot to get to.

We arrived at the GZ and hmmm..... nothing anywhere around here: its just a patch of grass! A quick buzz to the owner and we were on our way again. We then found the last bit of information and soon found where the cache was located. After putting the head torch on, I was away and was rewarded with a quick find.

Thanks for another great cache Joe! I need to get back down here to find The Crossing; it was planned for tonight but we ran out of time. Big Grin

Back again to have another crack at this one. After a night-caching jaunt with Rigger64 we did what I suspect all cachers do and compare notes on the various caches that we like and/or cause us grief. This cache I missed attempting for a FTF thanks to too narrow a radius for the new cache notification service. I got almost all the way through on my visit soon after but stumbled at the next-to-last hurdle. Rob provided the missing link and it was very much a DOH! moment as the last piece of the puzzle fell into place (I blame the cold, wet, dark, muggles, lateness, etc for my lack of understanding Razz) This time, I only had terrain to deal with, and reaching GZ I discovered what I feared but had a crack at it anyway. Amazingly, the combinations of grip and luck had me quickly up to the obvious hide and a cache logbook was in hand, signed and replaced - and, even better, a safe return to terra-firma executed! Smile I returned to the car - failing to captured the flock of feeding galahs or the couple of large ibis with them on camera, and also failing to take a short-cut west out of the park (I'm glad I didn't encounter that barrier at night - I mightn't have seen it in time... Never trust the lady in the GPS!...) A great and challenging night-cache, revisiting an area of my childhood (schools and scouts) Smile

Found @ 11:30 pm , find # 1410
After completing another nearby night cache, I decided to tackle this one as well, i'm not one for projections but this one was ok and my projections worked as I had found the reflector.
This is where it now took my a while to find the next waypoint as I followed the path and wasn't finding the next stage, I then had voices and noticed a couple of muggles kicking a footy so I decided to follow the path in the oposite direction and still found nothing so continued back to the car and drove around to the other end.
As I walked back to where I had got to earlier, the muggles had gone and I then noticed what I was looking for, gathered the info needed and moved on the the next wp. where the next clue was found quickly, then after understanding the clue I moved onto GZ.
Once there and after a bit of an effort being by myself I was able to find the cache.
Thanks to shogun - kellyhaunts for another great night cache.

Well I had the afternoon off. With caching being the flavor of the month. It just made sense to load the trusty MTB into the GoGGO Mobile TB. I headed out south east, and took in Cranbourne, then got as far as Tooradin for Fish and chips before heading back towards home and picking up a FTF or two.. I headed out this way after starting first with 12 caches in 50 minutes power (5/6) hour.. try beat that one TDC.. Smile This one one of about 25 for the day, Thanks Kelly Haunts for the cache, I grabbed this between Tooradin fish and chips and Home. An appropriately timed call saw a meet up arranged whist Joe did the maintainance check and I bagged the cache.. well done on the set up, a favourite.. Find #2418

After a quick run for a FTF in officer Starruby and I returned to this one to make a start on it. We walked to the projected start location and started a search. We soon found what we where looking for and continued on the direction of the indicators. A few times we where just walking in the direction we expected we had to go without seeing a reflector and then one would pop up to assure us we are on the right path.

After a nice walk and a few clues ( we where not 100% sure of the second clue) we found ourselfs at GZ. I had the honer to make the climb to GZ and passed the cache to Starruby to do the penwork. We then headed back to the car for some more yum Easter eggs before heading our on ways. TFTC

For the start to the end I enjoyed this cache with no "I wish it did not have that" moments. For this it earns one of my fav points I find hard to award most the time. TFTC

Came to do this one a bit later than expected, after parking nearby, and being distracted by a distant jaunt for a FTF with C@H. With that find under our belts, and full of Easter eggs that had brought along for the trip, we returned to my parked vehicle.

Headed out into the cool night, and soon spotted the familiar reflectors. With our only further distraction being a look at a tawny frogmouth or similar, we completed the circuit and located the happy cache, pausing only briefly to consider whether Kellyhaunts had brought along an assistant light and nimble of foot to help place the cache.

A great night out and worthwhile prize at the end. Thanks Kellyhaunts for the cache, and Covert for the company.

@ TeamOaky's Comment fair call i did the Projections using true & found all the right spots but that could have been shear luck.

I Just did a quick working out & it turns out that the distance between True North & Magnetic North over a distance of 84 metres is 16.17 metres.

I had a crack at it tonight, with the weather forecast I suspected I wouldn't complete it so it was more of a "fact-finding mission". I made it as far as the field-puzzle, but seemed to be missing some information, or at least my attempts at calculating GZ weren't too promising, the only one that seemed possible I visited but came up empty-handed. I'll be baaaack!.... Smile

Humph! I never got emailed about this one getting published or I'd have been trying for a FTF (and failing by the look of it! Razz ) I think my new cache notifications are set to only in a small radius from home. Will see if I can have a crack at it tonight seeing as I'm in the area atm, and am trying to get to 20 night cache finds Smile

Cache #793
Well I think I found it?
Found a cache matching the cache page but not a 100% sure as the log book was unnamed and had a reference to another cache which kind of threw me a bit.
After losing the trail due to some inconsistent waypoint projections. Most likely my fault as I had the same problem last week in Queenscliff. There seems to be a problem with data input error (Short fat fingers and fading eyesight) according to Unluckycharm.
Eventually a waypoint was found and a bit more back and forth with another projection problem (still learning to drive this new GPSr) Finally the penny drops and I arrived at a likely GZ. A bit of the old “Baum bis" and a cache was at hand.
This was a fantastic and a fun cache to do! In a park I grew up in, back then it was just a Footy field, a couple of Soccer fields and vast open fields with a few swamps and bushland as far as you could see. Still with all this change I still had a good sense of the lay of the land
Thx for another excellent cache Joe a fav for sure
Left some small swaps
Took away a big smiley

Merci beaucoup
Cheers Big Grin

I saw the cache published at 9:00 am and quickly noted it was not too far away and was a night cache. I had to go to Bunnings in Frankston during the day with my two boys so once we finally got out of there we headed over to Ballam Park and worked out the first two WP's. I made an attempt to locate the reflectors but after a few minutes headed for home with plans to return when it got darker.

Returning at 5:50pm with my oldest boy Tyler, we hunbted for the first reflector but it wasn't until Zombiedogs and Rigger64 arrive that the first reflector was finally spotted. We made our way around the trail, spotting the odd reflector here and there, losing track on several occasions but we finally made it to the first clue. With the new information we made it to the second clue and then onto GZ. With the Zombidogs up one tre, I scaled the other and found the cache in its hiding spot.

We opened the log and discoverd the cache we had a 2TF as the cache had somehow been already been found earlier on during the day. Good effort all the same. We had enough trouble following the reflectors that lead us to GZ at night. We signd the log and put the cache back in its hiding spot. A good fun night cache that was challenging and we all enjoyed. Thanks.

After getting the Notifacition @ around 9AM i thought great it will be gone by the time i get to it.
Well after messaging Zommbie Dogs to see if they were interested i doing a team assult on this cache to which they were intrested in doing that.
Well the Team assult was bigger than i had antisipated it being there was 5 of team Zombie Dogs 2 of team Rigger then as we were heading to the first FT we seen a couple of people with torches it turned out to be Team Quaser.
So after much looking then some more looking we spied the first FT the we were off to find the cache after loosing the trail a few times but getting back on track to find the cache.
Well we all thought it would be an FTF well we all ended up with an STF.
