Last stop on the scooter today - then back to the car at Ruffey park. I started by looking up, which was wrong, but eventually looked in the right place. It was nice to find a park bench to sit on while writing the log.
TwoEms crept past a weird noise coming from a tree that sounded like a dancing bear crying in the middle of the night. We flashed our torches around expecting to see 580 pairs of eyes staring right back at us, but luckily for us it was just one solitary character named PierreIm afraid Im very far from understandinghow shall I put itIm afraid my way of thinking about the universe is so much the opposite of yours that we wont understand each other.Thank you for the cache.
A quick find today. Pretty obvious book reference when you think about the name of the court. Thanks Calbob for the cache.
A nice stealthy hide. Was hard to find but when you spot it you can't not see it
Too early in the morning for this took me longer then expected but got there eventually
Today we concentrated on the Local Government Areas of Maroondah and Manningham as we worked towards two challenges. After very heavy overnight rain, we continued to experience periods of heavy rain, light showers and short periods of no rain - testing conditions for a days caching, especially as many areas were very wet, muddy and slippery. We were very pleased that, in the prevailing conditions, we found 26 caches.
The rain was intensifying as we parked our car at the suggested location and headed off to look for this cache. It took a few minutes to locate the cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks BaLuke for the cache.

Didn't take long this one after a few before taking ages to find !! Thanks for this one ️
After a multi find, this was a relatively quick find nearby.
Thanks Calbob for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

I wandered off with the Geodog while partner picked up some stuff from Marketplace nearby. I was barking up the wrong tree for a while, but once I lowered my expectations (ahem), this guy was quite easy to spot. Also, Leo Tolstoy wrote War and Peace - I read it many, many years ago. Very clever name .
I had an errand to run in Templestowe today, and had time to find a few caches on the way towards home.
A short stroll along the muggle-free path and a few minutes scruffing amongst the botany and this little cache was soon in hand.

I am having a day out caching around the Doncaster / Templestowe area. I spotted this little silver chap after a quick search. Great spot for a cache.
Third cache of the day. Very well hidden - took us a while to find. Cute container.
Found it securely tucked away in the foliage “when I fell flat on my back ...”
Fortunately, this lapse was not as a consequence of the affliction suffered by Warren in the the opening chapter ‘Saturday’.
As Matthew Ives himself is reported to have said he ‘don’t want to be accused, like Socrates, of corrupting the youth…’ SO I am hesitant to mention the affliction in any greater detail …

Was passing by doing a multi which ended up with being unable to read the numbers so instead I meander over to this nearby cache in the pouring rain. A quick find so not as soaked thru as expected.

Tried to find this one a while back without success. The GPS was bouncing all over the place as it was raining at the time. Back today with the Geokids on a quick Christmas Eve caching expedition and within 10 seconds the eldest spots it! Merry Christmas and TFTC.
After expanding my search to "all growth" rather than "regrowth", I used my geosenses to find this one. With military precision, honed for war and peace, I looked; the location hit me like a train.
TFTC!

Getting down and dirty. Sometimes, in the middle of War and Peace, it helps to take a step backwards and scan the verdant growth (which may or may not be regrowth). It may also help to have the cast of characters bookmark with you if you are working your way through the novel. Spasibo, and TFTC
So good to be out on a geocaching walk again. A long while between outings...
A lovely afternoon for pounding the footpaths, by this point equipped with a lovely loaf of fresh bread given to me by a random stranger (who must run a bakery or something, as he was unloading baked things from his van as I happened to walk past).
An easy find here - good to be getting down and just a tiny bit dirty again. TFTC

What a relief to head out for a few caches and not need to worry about the 5km zone any longer. I spent a pleasant Sunday morning in Ruffey Lake Park and nearby surrounds to find a bunch of caches here that I hadn't tried before. After a few finds in the park I jumped back in the car and followed the trail through the back streets to the east. I did notice the name of the nearby court where I left the car and then chuckled when I saw the cache name. Tricky one that took me a fair while and I reckon I was pretty close to giving up when I finally spotted it. My eleventh find in total for the morning. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for placing this one BaLuke and to Calbob for carrying it on.
Took a bit of bush bashing but spotted the little fella eventually.

GPS is not a happy chappy today... So we turned on our geosense and found the cache! (The hint was pretty helpful, too!) Found with TG4thewin. Tftc.
Well like all who came before, gps was a bit weird but GeoLibrarian54 spotted it in the end

My gps was playing games today.. first here, then there. I almost gave up in exasperation when I decided .. just one more .. and lo and behold.. there it was .. I glanced at my GPS and it read zero .. and I’m sure it was laughing at me. Thanks BaLuke for placing the cache.

This one had me spinning around in circles for quite some time. Eventually I found the sneaky little blighter bang on zero.
Cheers BaLuke

In Melbourne watching some soccer with the oldest geokid and we had to drop my nephews home near here so they pleaded for a few caches on the way (who am I to disagree?). This took a little searching before I could yell “got it”. Many thanks for the cache.
I was careful with the bushes around me to avoid creating a war zone of twigs and leaves. Found quickly but unfortunately didn't have a pen with me. Instead I've included an image as proof. An older image shows a blue bison tube... Seems it's not blue anymore! Peace out.
Found it again today after my last found a couple of years ago. I didn’t have a pen at that time and couldn’t sign the log. I was prepared today and finally signed the logbook. The bison is different from the one I found last time
Another cache where we probably should have moved on sooner. We even knew what we were looking for, and thought that it should have been easy to see. Seems we were wrong. Our thanks anyway to baluke.
DNF at 2:33 PM.
Spent 15 minutes going all over the garden - even had a photo of the blue bison tube, but couldn't find anything.
So we started to think about the name of the cache and all we could come up with was Tolstoy's War and Peace - sounds like due to the court name

This was the fourth of seven caches on tonight’s Donvale Discovery Trail.
The geohounds and I descended on GZ with our torches blazing. Not having any luck at the first location I continued in, and somehow, with surprising ease, the torchlight revealled the wee beastie soon thereafter!
The log was damp and very full, but I found a spot right at the end.
I was amazed at all my good fortune, or had I somehow developed some caching wisdom without realising it. I seemed to hear a voice saying “We can know only that we know nothing. And that is the highest degree of human wisdom”. Wise words indeed, and perhaps worthy of some bonus points?

DNF @ 18:33
I looked around the indicated area, and consulted the hint, but that didn't narrow the search area enough for me to make the find.
I'll have to settle for just the bonus points for referring to Leo's classic work in my log.
Thanks anyway baluke

15:22, July 1, 2018, # 755, out with AliFS and a few others today doing a few in this area. Nice quick find by Riddell. TFTC.
4 adults lurking in the bushes a little bit sus but not what you think. We are caching and were able to locate and sign. Another find while the kids were at the park
Found this one after spotting the slightest glimpse of a colour in the bushes that shouldn't have been there. Would be easy to miss though! TFTC
Second time lucky on a chill Thursday night. Armed with a photo of the cache we searched a little more closely than last time and made the ding after a 15min search. Log is a little damp but can still write. Tftc

Out for an afternoon of geocaching around Ruffey Lake Park today and we hit up quite a few in the park, around the park a little way away from the park.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for this geocache here today.

It has been almost three years since I visited this 'Bastian' of caches. I don't know why as they are all so well placed with, mostly, very helpful hints...
This hint looked to be straightforward, but I spent quite some time looking for this one. In fact, after looking for 20 minutes, I had given up and was on my way, noting a DNF, when I thought I would just check in one place I hadn't. Happily, I spotted some colour behind and finally made this find. (Logging this I see that the colour is relevant to the name) It was a little to the right facing the fence, or North/North-West from my GZ, but that is probably my phone, rather than the coordinates.
Thanks for another in this wonderful series, BaLuke.

We may just be cache-blind but we couldn’t seem to make the find. Will see if others have more luck. TftAdventure.
Couldn’t find it the first time. It was much easier to spot this sneaky one when I used Google map. Didn’t have a pen, so I took a picture to prove my finding. TFTC!
Although not generally numbers driven I do become a little focused on them as I approach a 000 milestone. I have a particular cache in mind for the milestone and I thought that tomorrow’s public holiday would be an ideal time to snaffle it as well as collect a couple of other caches on the agenda.
However to do any of that at leisure I needed to find ten caches today. What better way to achieve that than to pick up the alphabet based power trail in the north-eastern suburbs.
Ah, good old War and Peace. Now I’ll be honest and say I haven’t read it...yet. What I have read is Crime and Punishment. I’ll vouch for there being nothing like a flight from Oz to Europe for getting stuck into and mostly finishing a tome of literature. My ideal flight? Spend half the time reading one of these worthies and the other half puzzling away at some brain benders fellow cachers have put out.

Let's have one more look we said, pleased that we did, nice to find this sneaky cache thanks for placing
Grabbed this whilst out with Papillon 4506 for my D/T. Thanks for bringing me here and the cache.
A quick and easy find as we cache our way through the area today. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
I found the cache with ICW. However, the significance of the cache's name eluded me. I found a novel called *Warren Pease* by Matthew Ives, but unless Tolstoy also wrote a book of that name I can't see the connection. Tftc.
I found it quickly because it was quite bright in the winter sun. I've never read Warren Pease but I remember the Seinfeld episode
This took a couple of minutes of searching, but I soon had the cache in hand.

I'm aiming to get to 1000 caches by the end of the month, so I need to have a few serious days of geocaching in the next couple of weeks. Despite the fact that the weather forecast for today included words like "hail" and "snow", it was still sunny and windy before lunch, and looked promising. I headed up towards Templestowe to complete more of Baluke's excellent series, and got a few on the way there and back. The caches were easier to find the further I went, like I was getting my mojo back again I like that fact that I am actually warmer in winter when I'm outside geocaching than when I sit inside in front of the heater! I saw almost no muggles, which is another advantage of caching in winter Anyway, 25 caches today is more than a third I what I need before the 30th of this month. Thank you to everyone for the caches! You are all awesome

Found it! GZ was covered with dead branches. Think the neighbour doesn't like overhanging branches!! Anyway I moved them out the way and found the cache in the process. I really enjoyed reading Warren Pease and also enjoyed watching the recent BBC adaptation. No trains here. Okay, on to the next cache! TFTC SL
