out and about with agazo for another day of caching, nice to see that information about the local history is here, tftc
This was nufrat and my second full day of caching around Oamaru. We really enjoyed the many trails that got our numbers up. TFTC.
Found in perfect condition a little surprised at the length the school was open according to the plaque at GZ thank you for bringing me here to see this little piece of history even though it is now just a paddock.

We are from Abilene, Texas, USA and have come to New Zealand to visit with a friend. We plan on going after different Cache Types while here. We will also find geocaches while going sight seeing.
Thank you, Bitsprayer for placing this cache for all to find. We sign log sheets either as Love Cachers or LCers.
Driving over 50 miles to have...
Rusty barbed wire ripping through your clothes...
Curious rattlesnakes that come out of nowhere...
Itchy mosquito bites on every inch of your body...
A 40 mph wind gust blowing sand into your ears, nose and mouth...
Cactus needles getting stuck deep in your hands, arms and legs...
Thorny Mesquite trees scratching you up from head to toe...
Some or all of these things on a hike through 101° heat...
To sign your name or trade a toy...
SOUND LIKE FUN TO YOU?
It does to us, we're geocachers in West Texas! - {Taken from a Greater Abilene Association geocoin.}

Found previously. Visited a friend today who lives nearby so dropped TB here so hopefully it moves on quickly.
Great name for school and area. Found cache with busy paws. Thanks for the cache Bitsprayer.
Being forced to travel by a different route while another road is closed for repairs is an opportunity to grab some new caches! Very solid memorial to the original school site. Thanks!
Very first geocache! Almost left and gave up until we read the hint!

Found with StreetWalkerNZ while driving around North Otago picking up as many Mighty Oaks and solved puzzles as possible. A good day out, despite the southerly wind blasting us at many locations. And we had to drive past lots of caches too! Many thanks to all the cache hiders in the area, we are very grateful for the time and effort you put into geocaching.
A quick find as we head towards Maheno and on the hunt for more Mighty Oaks. TFTC.

A quick find on the way to Maheno for drawp's TMGT cache. Lots of country in here that needs more exploring. I'll be back! Thanks for the hide.

I had moved my snail shell down the Waitaki Valley to Awamoko for a few days. Today I needed at least 6 caches for my personal challenge of having all the days on my calendar at the same shade of green or darker.
I decided I would drive to todays planned caches instead of biking to them as I might have got a bit damp.
Cheers for the cache.

On a quest to complete the Hidden Creatures challenge so again off to Oamaru to find about 80 caches and this was one of them. I have driven past here a million times and today was the day to stop. TFTC
Heading up on a lovely day to Oamaru with Natalie247 to find some caches to collect the Hidden Creatures series. Looks like a new Memoral. TFTC Bitsprayer
After starting the hunt for the #hiddencreatures with Eve07 at an event in Dunedin we decided that North Otago, as it held a good number of creatures neither of us had yet discovered. A nice frosty start to our adventure led us around the coast before we headed in land looking for the slightly more elusive mysterious ones.
This cache was found to be in good condition. Thank you for placing and allowing me to get one step closer to the #worldturtle.

Another old school that's no longer in existence. At least this one has a very clear plaque that's east to get to unlike the other further up the road. TFTC # 11,544
The (major road trip was about to begin) that was for the Oamaru Geofest trip in the company of HKCB and iammrwalker for a bit of a road trip across to the west coast, through Haast and in a roundabout way to Oamaru.
My trip stats were as follows: 617 caches (214 Puzzles), 3300kms, 500 litres of Petrol, 21 hours sleep, 100+hours caching time. THe weather was wonderful and apart from about a 6hour period on the sunday we had fine weather all the way and feel that we made a bit of a hole in the region.
Firstly thanks to all the CO's that put in the effort to to set up these caches and to all the CO's whose caches we did not find this trip, well we are already planning our next trip.
We worked hard at getting specific caches (especially the Geo Art around christchurch and hence our concentration on this area for the preliminary 24 hours. So after a couple of running repairs to the rental vehicle (fuses not working) we were off knowing that all ports could be charged and that sleep was for the weak.
Sorry about the copy and paste logs but that is what tends to happen with a number run of this size. What a day this was going to be and a chance to have a good look around the area. It was amazing to wake up after having afull nights sleep and not have that sand in the eyes feeling and sore back from sleeping in the back of a car. Starting the day off working our way along the coast, followed by a spot of inland caching before making it back to Oamaru for a bite to eat followed by a bit more caching.

Came down this way from the North for the Oamaru Geofest, and decided to add a few more days to the weekend trip and turn it into a bit of a Mega mission, starting 5pm on Wednesday 18th and finishing 3pm Monday 23rd! Teaming up with Cats&Dragons for the first 24 hours then with Iammrwalker joining the team for the remainder.
Just a few of the stats for the trip were:
- 700 caches found, including 270+ puzzles (thanks to the Christchurch Geoart)
- 3300 km's driven, using over 500L of fuel $$$
- Just over 20 hours of sleep (about 4 per day on average), and about 100 hours of caching time.
Certainly a Mega Trip!
Day 5: With a good nights sleep for the first time this trip, we were up early and out the door for another full days caching. The goal for today was to cache our way down to the Moeraki Boulders and then see where the next cache lead us. One thing we were looking out for today was caches which hadn't been found in a long time.
Sorry about the cut and past logs, but that seems to happen with cache runs of this size!

I found this Geocache on a Geocaching mega mission along with Cats&Dragons and HKCB. With only just over three and half thousand Geocache finds I was very much the over achiever in training. We were in the South Island to support the Oamaru Geofest event, hunt down some Jasmar and D/T harder to find Geocaches, lonely caches (those not found in more than 6 months), virtuals and try and meet some milestone numbers. We signed the logs HIC, an abbreviation of our respective Geocaching names, (H)KCB, (I)ammrwalker and (C)ats&dragons. A huge thanks to all the CO’s who placed and maintain the Geocaches we found.
I arrived in Christchurch late Thursday evening having left straight from work and was picked up by my intrepid companions in our four wheel drive rental to find they had already grabbed about 270 finds in the previous twenty four hours. I wonder if the rental company would have still let us have it had they known we would travel 3300km in it before returning it four days later? Our trip took us to Greymouth via Arthurs pass, Ngahere, down the west coast to Haast across to Hawea, Cromwell, Twizel, Aoraki Mt Cook, Tekapo, onto the east coast up to Oamaru and back up to Christchurch via Akaroa and countless diversions and small towns along the way. We slept in the car for the first two nights, grabbing some shut eye between cache finds, taking turns to drive. We rented a small place in Oamaru for the other two nights and appreciated a bed to sleep in and a hot shower. It was an amazing trip, in which I discovered the South Island has some of the most incredible scenery in the world.
As some one whose old school is now a shopping center I appreciated this cache.

Out and about with Karma Reprint this weekend, not much left here except a very tidy memorial. Cheers
A nice quick find. Cheers.
Out and about on some of the A2O bike trails around Oamaru with Kiwi Moose. Signed the logs K2MR for brevity. Thanks to the CO's for the Caches.

We arrived in Dunedin today and traveled to Oamaru for the 2017 Geofest through Ranfurly, Nasbey and Danseys Pass. We attempted many caches throughout the long hot day and as it was the Geofest we bumped into fellow geocachers as well as a few muggles along the way. We were travelling with Keylev, UncleSam, Stik-a-Crane so to save log paper signed as Team SEAC 17.
Thanks to all the COs for the caches along the route.

This is the third old school site that I have visited today. This school wasn't here all that long.
Easy find especially when staying with owners. Now they know it's here! Used to live in the area and always nice to return to the area. Big changes with all the dairy farming. TFTC

Headed out for a weekend of crazy caching with sharkiefan - it was all about numbers this weekend!
For me personally, I needed the numbers so that I could get enough caches to bring my average a day back up to 4 caches at least for this year, as on a streak it's not really possible to find heaps of caches in your home hood!
This was one out of the 116 we found over the two days. And a huge thank you to all the cachers who put out all these caches! Loved the fun time we had - though weekend could have ended better!
Sorry for not writing cooler logs, but heading overseas in a couple days, and I don't exactly want to be behind in my logging then!! Haha.

Wasn't sure if that was the school to the left of the newer house but an interesting looking building all the same.

Out enjoying a beautiful Autumn day grabbing some caches with geograndad and this was one of our many stops. Found with debsnz
I caught a glimps of a new monument as I passed by ... that must relate to the old school I thought, so I back peddled to GZ . I could see the old school building across the way and I soon had the cache to hand.

After been thoroughly scared by the spider sitting comfortably on the cache I managed to sign the log with shaky hands and gingerly inspect the container before returning it. Thanks!
A quick find while not quite taking the direct route to Nelson on my way home from the MEGA.

A quick easy find. It was interesting to note the construction in progress of what will presumably be a plaque commemorating the school, which is celebrating its centenary this weekend. We had noted considerable activity at the current school as we passed it, and read the reason in the newspaper after returning home. TFTC
FTF!. A nice step from the previous cache that took me on a tour of this area on a great morning, so nice in fact that I felt like a bit of exploring myself now I was learning the history of the area.
