Short Trip Away Day #3 [25/11] of 3Day three of my holidays (and day #3 of 3 for my trip away) saw me leaving the motel early to start the day. I started by heading over to Fyshwick for a couple of caches over there. For nice easy-ish ones. Three in the Fyshwick Forrest and one over in the park next to Maryborough St. After finding those ones, I headed over to Belconnen to find a couple of others and then onto the Mall for lunch. While at the Mall, I also did a game of 10 pin bowling because why not? I got a score of 120. Once I finished up in the Mall, I started making my way home. I found the next lot of power trail caches along Dog Trap Rd. I have decided on doing these caches section by section given, I drive past/through here so much. From there, I headed home while finding one more in Binalong before getting home. It was a great weekend away and I quite enjoyed catching up with everyone. TB visit. Some caches were signed as JM. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTCs! This multi gave me a bit of grief as it wasn't as straight forward as it would of been when it was placed. Finding the answer to B was really easy but as for the answer for A, it took a quite a bit of thinking. This is because due to the tree growth and new natural camo, the answer I got was wrong based where the coordinates of GZ, were taking me. So I had a rethink, and eventually came up with a plausible GZ which was where I was thinking it could be anyway. After my higher then T1.5 walk over to GZ, I got started searching. After a short search I found the cache safely tucked away. It's great to have another multi on my find list and now off to the next one.
Had a lot of trouble with this one. First numbers didn't work and substitution to a likely location didn't help either
Its nice to have this one done. This 1.5/1.5 eluded me on first attempt many years ago. Today I was in the area and decided to try and average my DNF. The homeless encampment is still at the WP and reminded me why I was uneasy during my first visit. Lots of thorns, many trees blocking paths, I collected the data, got cords that didnt make sense, quickly did a PAF and made my way to the GZ (passing a few more eerie tents in the bushes. TFTH
Found It!Interesting bit of history that I never knew about. Not much left of it now though. And the few objects left are getting overrun by blackberries. Somehow I got both of the numbers wrong (luckily there's a checksum!) and ended up working them out another way. Then a quick find once at the final location!TFTC
Finally! After a set of wrong coordinates, sunrising_defecator figured out the coordinates using the checksum. With her good math skills, we headed over to the correct location and after a few minutes of searching we found it! 7:15 and not yet dark but it was still sketchy as we saw 2 tents and a ton of clothing, strewn all over the mountain. Still a fun and challenging multi cache, TFTC!
Slab and post were covered in leaves and overgrowth, so eriicamurphy and I initially calculated the coordinates incorrectly. We went to the coords and realized something seemed off. After using the checksum we knew wed made a mistake at some point. We sat and and thought about what to do. I decided to slightly change the numbers, and after a few minutes, we had the right coordinates! We located the cache quickly after that. TFTC!I also wanted to mention that there are a ton of thorn bushes. One wrapped around my ankle while walking and drew blood. A similar thing happened to eriicamurphy. Another thing that concerned me is the stuff on the hill. At the base of the hill there are tents surrounded by tinfoil, and at the top there are drug needles, cigarettes, alcohol and an array of clothes and furniture. Also, an unopened jar of olives, but they dont look store-bought. Its a weird area.
Forgot to write this in my log- The difficulty and terrain seem low for this cache. The ground is steep and bumpy and its almost impossible to get to the waypoints without either climbing over fallen trees, pushing through thorn bushes, or going through other rough terrain. Also, getting the correct numbers for the coordinates would require digging through overgrowth and leaves to make the areas visible. I could be wrong, but imo terrain would realistically be more like 2 or 2.5 and difficulty could be 2. Good adventure on my birthday, though.
Had to do this in two parts but got there in the end, via a tiny little bit of help from the CO (thanks!).
For starters what a great little spot, hidden right away from the hustle and bustle of Fyshwick and Canberra Ave. Some great history here too (plus plenty of blackberries and grass seeds ).
I grabbed the key pieces of info at the two waypoints, realised pretty quickly I’d stuffed up one of them, and then completely botched the arithmetic which had me searching fruitlessly at two nearby places.
Third time lucky as it turned out! And such a cute little hiding spot…well worth the effort. Thanks for the cache!

#3172 You can always count on blackberries to make a cache hunt much more challenging than it ought to be. And this one was no different. Approached WP1 from the Fyshwick Forrest Trad, and with the slab partly covered in blackberry it was a careful search to ensure we had acquired all the information required. Even the short stint to WP2 could have ended in tears as we made our way through. Was fastidious with my interpretation of data at the second waypoint with a few more slots located nearby, but a final confirmation with checksums ensured we were on the right track. A few more zigs and zags to reach GZ and the cache was soon in hand. We took a much clearer route back to the vehicle making use of a much more defined path. Thanks Pacmania for the history and the cache!
Third find of the day. This was an excellent and fun little historical multi. Having seen much radio infrastructure around Canberra, it was great to learn about some lesser known examples, and some of the origins of broadcasting in the capital.
We collected the information from the first two waypoints after tackling a fair few thorns/blackberry bushes (we made poor route choices) and stumbling across someone's campsite (tent and all). Fortunately the campsite was abandoned at the time, so we didn't spook the inhabitants.
Like some previous finders, we had to do a bit of trial-and-error with the numbers from WP1, being confident of our numbers from WP2. We suspect that either the information at WP1 is not as visible as it once was, or may have been worn away by the sands of time... Anyway the multi still works, it just requires a bit more thought.
After some more questionable navigation (and picking up a nearby trad), we reached the final location and uncovered the hide. We took nothing and left the cache guardian in peace. TFTC Pacmania

Was looking for an opportunity to test out my wet weather gear for a trek I'll be doing later in the year. I attempted three caches that had eluded me up to this point, all in my local area. Managed 3/3 for the day, with varying levels of difficulty.
Always good to see a cache like this that has survived so long. Like the previous cacher, I was a bit uncertain about the values of A and B, so needed to do a bit of trial and error before arriving at likely coordinates. Cache is safe and sound.
TFTC!

I obviously didn’t count properly at WP1, because the checksums didn’t work. Pretty happy with WP2’s count, so played with the numbers until I had a feasible GZ. Walked over to it and found the cache as described by the hint. Thanks, Pacmania!
Needing a multi today had this one sorted a while back. So waiting to be in the area and also needing a multi today was the day. Coords chased me around a bit but I should have trusted the hint. Then quickly found.
Thanks For getting me out and about Pacmania

I was in Fyshwick for some essential click and collect business and then also jad to fill up the car, so I thought I'd give this another go. The last time my GZ endes up on the cycle path. I was going to re collect the information.
This time was still bamboozled by what B was supposed to be, but I thought, I'd just work with each set of possible numbers.
PAF who had the same numbers.
I found the hint a bit dodgy, especially since this time I found the cache with what I had.
TFTC - still an interesting bit of history.
PS - wear sturdy long pants, the blackberries are already ferocious.

This ended up being a whole lot more challenging than expected. Spent quite a good deal of time sitting on a stump in the middle of the trees working out GZ since my first attempt at the calculation ended up with no cache in sight. Thankfully the checksums were there to help guide me with the numbers second time around. With extra ground cover at the first WP, I failed to spot all the bits I needed. Full log later.
Interesting spots but lots of undergrowth and blackberries meant a few detours around to get to the waypoints. My first set of numbers were not right so needed to sit and re-do some calcs to get to the right answers. Eventually came up with a reasonable location for gz and cache was soon uncovered. Log and container still all OK. Love these old bits of history in the middle of an urban area. Tftc
I had no intention of staying out caching as long as I did today. Afterall I only wanted 5 caches which needed to include 1 multi and 1 mystery. Unfortunately some took longer than they should have and other time was spent on important phone calls and a much needed lunch.
I did manage to more than meet my challenge finding a multi, a mystery and 4 traditional caches. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches. All logs were signed.

Yay!!! A hot walk in the scrub tonight with Minniek. Many a mozzie. Many a thistle. Many a blackberry. Miscounted on our first attempt which led us to a very plausible GZ, that just didn’t feel quite right. Re-read the latest intel. Adjusted our count a little and hit the trail once again. Took a thorougher search of the area at GZ before Minniek finally made the find. Certainly an adventure. But definitely more like a T2 or with all the spikey plant and nesting spider dodging thanks for the adventure. Thanks for the cache.
Needed a multi today so teamed up with nibletricecakes for what we thought would be a quick gather and find.
We parked at the parking coords then headed straight up the hill. Came straight up against blackberries (which tasted yummy) so did a lot of finding a way in whilst edging ever so closer to the first WP.
Finally got there to find the blackberries everywhere so where noted a number and hoped it was right. Getting to WP2 was just as challenging and again, noted a number but weren't entirely convinced.
Worked out a couple of options and went for the more likely option. No luck but soon found the check sums so regigged our numbers....we were on the right track....literally! Wandered over to GZ and soon had cache in hand.
Thanks for the adventure Pacmania.

Went to have a look. Cache is exactly where I left it and in good condition. Added checksums to the hint, but this totally gives it away. It would be nice if people still visited the site despite this.
How disappointing. The grass is long the day was warmer than recently and I desperately needed this cache for my multi calendar so imagine how I felt when I ended up with a DNF. It does look as if someone has camped here previously, but not at the moment. Maybe they found the cache. Whatever it isn't here now. I suggest it may be missing.
After a very long and tough walk through chest-high grass, dodging thorns, we had no trouble locating the two waypoints. As discussed in many previous logs, there were a couple of combinations possible, however, after traversing through lots more grass, and heading to both locations, I was unable to find the cache or the bark! I did, however find a rock near the track......
Came here with the boys as they needed to pick up a nearby cache I already had, grabbed this one too so I had a find. Getting a bit over grown with all the rain, great hiding spot. Tftc
I ventured to Fyshwick after work today to run an errand, so decided to stop here and take a look at this multi.
Noting some previous logs, I delved into the blackberry at way point 1 to ensure I made accurate observations. At way point 2 there was some ambiguity, but it was soon clear that only the slots immediately beside the post need to be counted - ignore the slots elsewhere in the concrete.
After doing the math, I walked the short distance to my calculated GZ - no joy, but after consulting the hint I made the find around 10m away.
TFT(multi)C and the history lesson, Pacmania!

This turned into much more of a mission than it needed to be. Turns out that point one is more and more overgrown by blackberries to the point where it is hard to count. Bad thing is if you miss count it gives you a very feasible set of coordinates more than 160m from the old Cache. So there's no correction mechanism in that sense. Even worse it is right next to the path and of course there is a rock. So I did spend a considerable amount of time looking there before I considered what else could've gone wrong. I would have loved some checksums at that stage...
At the second GZ candidate it was an easy find, all in good order. I very much liked the history which is pointed out in this cache!
Thank you Pacmania for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Found on a warm Autumn day for another drive around while at Canberra.
Met up with The Green Geckos and had a good trek around all day.
Cache condition is OK/good. Yes it's still there.
Thanks for the cache Pacmania,

Out with Roostaman for some caching fun. Nice to be in the bush in the city. Cache in great condition. TFTC
After buying some necessary stuff at the brand outlet place I went for a walk in the forest to find the trad here. I had my phone app set to filter out anything but trads, so wouldn't have even known about this one if it hadn't been mentioned in log. But once I knew about it, my way was clear.
WP1 was easily found but I did have to look carefully to get the required number right. Near WP2 I saw the homeless person's camp, which looked unoccupied. Still, I thought it best not to look too long or linger (if someone was there, they were entitled to their privacy). I also saw a big roo, which was a little surprising in this spot. At WP2 I got the required number easily, but could see how someone might misinterpret the clue. The numbers I put into the GPS made sense and a short time later I was at GZ where a quick look revealed the nicely hidden cache, just where the hint suggested it might be. TFTC

There is what looks to be a homeless camp close to the posted coordinates. I spotted the tent and other equipment as I was scanning for wp2. I didn’t check to see if anybody was home but it made me uneasy as I was rambling through the woods on my own. I quickly collected the required data but the numbers don’t make sense for the GZ. Not sure if I’ll return.
Went back to the area with Lpud after some shopping close by. It was a very pleasant stroll to the correct spot this time and after waiting for the gps to settle it didn’t take us to long to find it. A bit of team work never goes astray. Thanks to the owner for helping us to get it right.
Out today for some needed shopping close by with BonEm.
Thankfully the CO, kindly gave me a nudge in the right direction.
Finally worked out the correct GZ , after some number crunching and obvious deductions.
We really enjoyed the stroll back here again, with the Autumn sunshine through the trees.
After arriving at GZ, we checked the clue again and were surprised a little by the hide when we spotted the container.
Both container and log are in good condition.
Thanks Pacmania, for your quick communications and friendly nudge in the right direction.

Out with BonEm, helping her grab a nearby traditional, we decided to have a go at this interesting multi.
With two sets of eyes checking for the required information at the slightly overgrown way-points, we both calculated the final co-ords for GZ.
Strangely, our first calculations had GZ located across the main road.
We knew that wasn't right.
We re-checked the way-points again, to make sure we hadn't missed anything and with some recalculations, we were sure we were on the right track, so to speak.
Upon arriving at GZ, we checked the clue, but were unsuccessful in locating the hide.
We even panned out about 30meters each side of our GZ, again, checking for likely hides but drew a blank once more.
With the light running low, we decided to give checking the waypoints for a third time.
Might need a nudge in the right direction for this one.

After doing a cache close by, Lpud and I thought this would be relatively simply to complete. We gathered the required information at both Waypoints, working out our final co-ordinates and headed off to GZ. However, after scouting the area and coming up empty handed, we've decided that this one needs further investigation.
Attending the Clear Water 2019 mega this Easter in Queanbeyan. Found with a group catchers and logged as "Lucky9" at first it was problem but manage to get there. Thanks for placing it Pacmania
Finally. Been eyeing this one off for a while every time I went past. This morning finally had some time. Interesting history hidden away. Left some marbles. Tftc
Nice little wander around the Radio Hill site .
No one around .
Co ords spot on at final location do all good.
Many thanks to Pacmania.

Called in on the way past. All good. Re-counted the items and still got the same answers! I'll have to take some cutters next time and attack the blackberries.
Found with geokid2 on cold windy morning after Czech school. Got a tip on this as numbers weren’t adding up. TNLNSL TFTC
I DNF'd this cache very close to 2 years ago now, just a few days off!
I think 2 years is a long enough period of time to come back and try again.
Plus now I have twice the amount of geocaching experience in years, and probably even more than double my count!
The Greyhams recent log was pretty much a godsend. I remember this place and its WP's very well even though it was so long ago.
I literally took every piece of advice the Greyhams gave and had the cache in no time! In fact I skipped WP1 entirely, and it turns out their are only 4 possible GZ's. One of them which is literally impossible so that cuts it down to 3. The first one I went to was a winner and I soon found the very well hidden cache, I probably would have missed it and gone to my second option if it wasn't for the extremely detailed hint.
Thanks for this cache Pacmania! Good to finally tick this off, the new feature of the blue sad face on my map was a bit disheartening!

edit: So, the family have gone off for the morning so I can make use of it and go and fix up my Wherigo which---yet again--- has a mysterious puzzle cache blocking my hide. Sorted that out and I thought I may as well continue on with my A-Z tours (I was up to P), P coordinates grabbed I had to continue along to 'Q' and though I may as well do some work on my Canberra Mapping Challenge cache along the way..... anyway, long story short... 4 hours later I finally got to my second A-Z tours hide...

I will freely admit I could not find any remains mentioned at WP1... none... but I did find lots of nice looking blackberries, seriously, this is a great place to collect as they seem large, juicy and not picked over!
Anyway, I go to WP2 and at least there I could get the required info, so I just ground the possible values for WP1 and went to the closest one first.... bazinga! I find the hide! Very pleased with myself I sign and depart. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache... very interesting!!

Was in the area and with Shadowstorm1 wanting to do a few caches this spot looked good. Had to clear away WP1 from the fallen foliage but a careful look had the answers. Wouldn't have know this was here and an interesting spot with its bits and pieces but information all collected ok. Although I wouldn't doubt the coordinates I would doubt my math but luckily while I was scratching my head as to where it was the well hidden and camoflaged cache was spotted by Shadowstorm! Thanks for the cache Pacmania.
Found with Aquilus1 who did the math but I found it. A team effort.

While picking up a nearby cache, we thought we would give this one a go. Everyone added something to this one. Family team work had us signing the log in no time. Interesting history here that we never knew about. Tftc!!!
Had a couple of options for the coordinates but after one false start managed to make it to the correct spot. TFTC Pacmania and the piece of history.
Out with Trodectus, after getting info from WP1 headed off to WP2, can see where ppl get confused with the info here. After working out final co-ords, was just a short walk and soon had CIH after short search. Log signed and returned. TFTC
Found with Coybear2000. After doing the nearby trad we headed to the first waypoint. We soon had a number and then off to the next waypoint. We wandered around a little before realizing we were right at it. We came up with a number, swatted a few more mozzies, and did the calculations. That didn't seem correct, so we re-interpreted the instructions and came up with another set of numbers. More calculating, more mozzie swatting and we had likely co-ords. We headed off to our destination and arrived. We looked at the hint and while I swatted more mozzies and looked for the track, C came up with the goods. TFTC and thanks for bringing us to this forgotten piece of Canberra's history.
Friday 10 March 2017 - another glorious sunny Spring afternoon in the high 20s with a brilliant blue sky. Out in Fyshwick to look at awnings so took the opportunity to pick up 2 from 2 caches that were in the same vicinity. Dropped off Holiday Ammo Can trackable. Loved the history.
Thanks for the hint at GZ as the cache was very well hidden and looking at the level of difficulty and being very confident with my coordinates I just had to look harder. Thx MuggleHusband for clearing WP1. TFTC Pacmania.

Thx to DARKSIDEDAN for mentioning in his log that the slab was overgrown and needed clearing.
I took my secateurs with me much to MuggleHusbands surprise when I pulled them out of my backpack. I could not have figured 'A' without first hacking back the long thick prickly vines with MuggleHusband. He then used a thick tree branch to move the cut vines out of the way and then clean back the slab of pine needles and other debris.
At least, for now, the slab is ready for the next cacher

Blackberry bushes cover almost the whole slab not to mention the spiders. Someone needs to chop some of the undergrowth away.

I returned here today, armed with the 'exact' co-ords from a friend, but decided to double check the WPs and verify the answer. Sure enough I had mis-counted the previous time, and my calculations now came out correctly. At GZ it took a little bit of moving around before I spotted the hint, and then the cache. I collected the initial information a week or so ago, but failed to find the cache in the time I had available. I suspected my calculations were a bit off. This afternoon, I returned with slightly adjusted co-ords that better fitted the hint, but again no sign of the cache. I'm guessing I'll need to return to the start and check my answers before having another attempt.
Like others, this took a few goes to get the right coordinates. After coming up with a few options, one looked better than the others so I headed there first. Yep, cache exactly where the hint said it would be. Another interesting piece of local trivia. You could almost do a Canberra radio geo-tour! Thanks Pacmania
We couldn't seem to get this cache right unfortunately. Searched about 3 locations coming up empty handed! We were confident on one answer but the GZ just did not seem right.
Might need to get a hint on where we went wrong for our next trip to Fyshwick. Thanks anyway!

Finally. I somehow missed the correct number of anchor bolts (careful check required), which put me off track by a hundred or so metres. Even the hint doesn't help for that mistake!! So made a correction and headed off for, what then became, an easy find. Cache is safe, dry and happy. Interesting info about this hill. Thanks. And TFTC.
Completed a few drive by / short walk caches in the inner south Canberra Region to-day.
I came to do this one about a month again but after going to 4 spots as a result of poor maths and wrong counting of objects at the WPs, I gave up for a fifth attempt on that day though I had another set of numbers to check.
The 5th set of Co-ordinates were spot on and I walked straight to the cache this morning. TFTC.

Found on a beautiful spring afternoon hunt.
Great history location and hunt.
It gets a favourite from me.

Another one done. Yay! I found this as part of a daily streak I am working on - over 100 days completed so far. The first month wasn't so bad, the 2nd month got harder, the 3rd I settled into a routine, but now it's getting more challenging to make sure I don't miss a day especially when I'm travelling for work.
I love the challenge of the geocache cache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world wide game of hide and seek. I love it!
Thanks go to Pacmania for placing this cache and maintaining it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and much appreciated. I enjoyed finding this one - I needed the hint to figure it out. This cache was another "Found it" for me. TFTC! Cheers. [Blue]Jump Pilot[/Blue]

Finally the diaries of AngelG27 and myself aligned and we were off for a mini mission to nab caches around Fyshwick
Next stop on the mini mission was this one. After parking the car nearby off we went for the wander to WP1. AngelG27 spotted it and then we got down to revealing the info to collect. Next we were off to WP2 to checkout another random feature. So then with info gained and coords calced, off we went to GZ. Checked out a few spots at first before we zeroed in on a more likely spot to uncover the hide. I like the "handles" on the camo-no splinters under the nails when retrieving the cache!
Thanks for this neat multi at this random little forest, Pacmania

Specimen X and I had a mini geocaching mission around Fyshwick today to clean up a few unfound caches. We had 100% find rate - 9/9 caches looked for and found! Specimen X introduced me to the talking navigation option on the app - which promptly sent us to the wrong side of the tracks for a cache. Might need to us discretion for this tool
Second find of the afternoon - always good to knock off another Pacmania multi! Just as well Specimen X pointed out the two waypoints, or I might have come to grief pretty quickly by myself. Had to circle around a fair few blackberry bushes on our way to the waypoints and GZ. Cache found as the hint indicated - all good with it!
Thanks Pacmania for showing us a little of the history of this place

My streak is now up to 37 days, and we were back out to Fyshwick for a couple more things for the new TV. I had seen that this one was repaired recently after I couldn't find it last time I was in the area. I didn't revisit WP1 today as I just got my values from the old coordinates and subbed them into the new ones. The new coordinates looked good, so I gave them a shot tonight. We parked as close as possible and then I jogged off to GZ. There were a few tendrils of blackberry and they managed to latch onto me as I ran past. That hurt a bit! Once I arrived at GZ, the cache was located quickly. Log signed and cache replaced. TFTC Pacmania!
Cache was missing, so I have replaced it and GZ has been moved further away from the muggle hordes (I'm actually surprised it lasted so long where it was). To those who have done the counting, please note that the formula has changed and GZ is a new location. Please don't destroy GZ when searching.
It's nice to visit this place again...

I believe GZ has been disturbed. I'll have to go and check (probably a week or two!)
TaurusSix and I visited this area today. There have been a few trees blown over recently. We counted bolt and holes and calculated the coords. Then we found the cache.
found with tokks. finished work a bit early, so we heading out. after missing a bolt and an unnecessary hike through thorns we decided to check our numbers and try again. tftc
Always helps when you count right.. Had to count the bolts again. Love this tucked away forest. Found with razzed. Tftc.
I remember spotting this cache on the map during one of my very first caching outings. I didn't complete it then, as multis seemed unknown and complicated. But now, three months, 70 odd caches and several multis later, I felt confident in my abilities What an interesting spot to visit!
Well second time is a charm for this one. Not sure how I miscounted last time. I think I was in a rush. But this is an interesting part of fyshwick that I'm happy to return to. Thanks for the find
OMG this cache was going to be the end of me!!!! The first time I attempted, I could barely walk up the hill for tantruming children. The 2nd time - guess what - tantruming children. The 3rd attempt was child free (surprise surprise) and I didn't print enough paper to see the 2nd waypoint clues (I am old fashioned and don't have a smart phone or modern GPS). The 4th time I had everything sorted but counted wrong and found myself at the wrong GZ. 5th time the charm - kind of - I still needed to check a couple of different locations, I seem to be blind. So happy to have this smiley face. Its not you pacmania - its me!!
I didn't do well at all on my counting. A few goes and I finally had it after trying two other spots first. TFTC Pacmania.
Trying to beat my Pb for different types of caches in a day after the pi event earlier. After meeting my Pb I just needed a multi to tip it over. Stopped by here and began the walk. Both of the wp are a bit grown over however was able to work it out. Transposed my numbers wrong and ended up 300m in the wrong direction :please got there in the end and a quick stealth sign of the log.

This afternoon, my grandad and I found most of the caches around Fyshwick. We walked over to WP1 from the nearby cache. The anchor bolts sure are well-hidden. After a bit of negotiating, we came up with an answer and moved on over to WP2. An interesting piece of history - this waypoint was easier to solve. I made the calculations for GZ and we made the walk towards it. The area looked very nice in the afternoon sun. We arrived at GZ and made the find relatively quickly - be careful of the spider nest adjacent to the cache!
Our thanks to Pacmania for the interesting history lesson.

Missed it first time round. Plugged my numbers into coordinates. But no cache. Checked the hint and realised I was clearly not in the right place. Tried a couple of other numbers...and with the help of google-maps I spotted where it was. Even though it was peak hour, I was able to sign log and return cache while the Ridgeo-Pup kept watch. Found @ 1:10pm with Shadow!
Having been up here for caches before, we still managed to take the hardest approach, harder for me in particular given my current injury. Shadow! did a good job with her spiderweb stick and I followed as best I could in her footsteps. This did, however, enable us to spot a cool lizard skeleton.
It was a nice walk, mostly in the shade on a warm day. We counted what we needed to count and the resulting co-ords were spot on.
Thanks Pacmania, some interesting history there.

Found with allrounder, the tin man, on a lazy Sunday out and about...bit of a rough walk in an overgrown area...!! blackberry alert..!

#477. 107 days in a row.
After trying for Three French Hens, I went for this cache since it was nearby. Must have miscounted at WP1, but got the coordinates after adjusting.

I was in Fyshwick doing some other caches and came over to do the two in this area. It really is a forgtten peice of history. Fav point from me for teaching me about a part of historic Canberra that I knew nothing about. Thanks Pacmania
A nice bit of history here and lovely sunny day TFTC. Back to the Petrol station and fill up for lawnmower TFTC.
A lovely bit of history here and we very much enjoyed the walk around the mound right on sunset, beautiful! We have driven past this area so many times so not sure why we haven't done this one sooner. Managed to count all those bolts at WP1 , can see how it might be possible to miss one or two of them. Thanks Pacmania for sharing this cache and history with us .
We have seen this little hill many times as we drive by....and also noted it contained a couple of caches.
What we didn't know was the history of this place.
Pacmania-you have uncovered another tidbit of our city's past. It was very quiet in the forest with only a glimpse of a fox through the trees. A lovely short stroll on a sunny winter's day
Thanks!!
