Day 2 of our 4 day anniversary road trip to Maryborough and out West. Lots of adventure to be had with my love SCAHPA. Log signed as CS & SC to save time and room - Trademark skeleton animals sticker left in cache - TFTC, effort time and maintenance
We continued today our tour of Queensland and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Traditional-Cache.The weather was - said in one word simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood. The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging. Thanks to sweet - sour for the generation of this nice cache Lawless Park (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood. After a long day, I decided to make a quick detour on my way home to find this drive-by cache. It was a smooth and easy find, just as described in the cache listing. The coordinates were spot on, and the cache container was in excellent condition. I signed the logbook and left a small trinket behind. It's always a pleasure to discover these hidden treasures along the way. Thanks to the cache owner for placing this one. It added a bit of adventure to my commute home!
Passing through Kilkevan and Gayndah with Dora the Explorer! We decided to break the trip by grabbing some caches along the way. All the caches except one were quick and easy finds. TFTC
I was pretty excited when I heard that an event was going to be held in Cherbourg. The only cache in the LGA and only 5km from my home town. A trip home to see family was on the cards. Until.....my plans changed and I had someone driving a whole 12 hrs from Sydney to see me. But little TT took one for the team and suffered through a whole day of road tipping and caching with Chamad. She tells me she didn't suffer and that she actually enjoyed herself. I think the deal might have been sweetened when they were joined by Willos007 and her pup. I am sad that I didn't get to share the area with my buddies but glad that the area was shared with my little girl anyway. All the way up to Gayndah even.
Road trip! Attending an event out this way this morning, geopup and I caught up with chamad and a turmoil in Gympie and joined forces to collect some caches.A quick find here, log signed, cache replaced as found. Thanks youngoldfella for the cache.
Working our way back home now after a Saturday morning drive to a special event in a rare LGA, (cherbourg) and a continious drive up to Gayndah. I had triple turmoil (naya) with me and we meet up with Willis007 in Gympie, before heading to this event. A good size turnout and only time enough to catch up with a few of the teams there. It was then off to hopefully grab a few caches northwards as time was pressing on us today. We had no real plans just to get a couple in Gayndah and a few as we passed by. Success and heading back home now just stopping at the ones that were convienent. As always it was a day filled with laughs and jokes. We signed the log on this one and replaced all as found. Thanks for placing this one here. With the areas so lush and grass so high it did add to a littlle extra fun in finding the caches. This one had me looking around until I spotted something in the distance. All good with this one.
The ants were quite Lawless here and attacked on mass at dusk! Last cache as it was getting dark and Mr CNQ still had to get to Bribie today, having left Emerald at 6am. Thanks for another cache.
In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location. (HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do. [:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort. Devilish Brilliant and Clever I like it Another one off the list TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - Sweet-Sour [^]
A nice rest stop area. Like others before me, I searched around, and the obvious spot where the cache should have been (with a telltale sign) was empty/void of a cache. I messaged the CO for permission to help and replace the cache, and subsequently, I left a replacement cache in the obvious spot. Thanks [Sweet-Sour](https://coord.info/PR5XJWJ) for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.----------This 1.5 week trip, the purpose was the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster (QOGM) in Longreach, with its aim to encourage tourism and support in rural towns. Departing from Brisbane on Friday 15/09/2023, I travelled solo taking the northern route through Gayndah, Emerald and Jericho on my way to the event, and then returned through Blackall, Morven, St George, Goondiwindi, and Toowoomba arriving back on Monday 25/09/2023.My Longreach highlights included the two QOGM muster/rally days visiting Muttaburra and Isisford; the Qantas Founders Museum; Stockmans Hall of Fame; Silver Tails Rail Sunset Tour; and the general historical town vibe. Other highlights to/from Longreach included climbing Mt Scoria; Barcaldine's Tree of Knowledge and kayaking in the water park; Blackall woolshed scour; and the smaller intriguing and historical towns that I passed through.During my travel days when I was time-poor, I targeted geocaches that were older in age, high D-T, puzzles/challenges, and rare cache types. In addition, I added 7-8 visited LGAs to my statistics. The scenery was memorable with picturesque sunsets, and a diversity of flora and fauna. There were plenty of kangaroos and wallabies, emus, goannas/lizards, brolgas, hawks, and alas wild hogs, and goats. This afternoon, I departed Brisbane to reach Gayndah for the night. I was able to make a few stops whilst passing through / visiting Gympie and Kilkivan, and it was quite late once I arrived in the cute and charming town of Gayndah.
On a slow trip out to Longreach for the QOGM 2023 event.
Oh, how sad is this camping stop now looking..............
I had a good search, but found nothing. My GPS was taking me to to the obvious big stump, but that was empty, apart from a rock that might well have covered a cache container.
Another day.........................

Place was at least 2 m underwater judging by the debris line. Might be time for CO check
No service on the phone here so no internet either but we had a fair idea of where to look from previous research. We found the probable site for the cache but ...... the guardian black ants were out in force and were on the offensive. No humans were getting near what they were guarding!!! Beat a hasty retreat and left them to live their quiet lives, even though there is reportedly a TB hiding in there too.
With nothing better to do today, I thought I’d go for a couple of hundred km drive looking for some target caches for a few of crazy challenges…
This was the furthest I travelled today… and the cache has an attribute that I need… After pulling up, it was hard to miss the amount of water laying around the area… and the general destruction that the floodwaters have wrought…
I read the hint and thought I could see the referenced item from the car, so with my confidence level high I left the phone and moved to what I thought was GZ…
That’s some moat protecting GZ, but I managed to broach it keeping mostly dry… I couldn’t see a cache though…
Back to car, again over the moat to retrieve the phone… oh I have to dig… and I saw the ants…
Once more over the moat… a little wetter this time… armed with a digging stick I set about excavating what I thought was GZ… All I seemed to do was disturb the angry ants and send a green frog fleeing (now I feel bad)…
I had a quick look at the tree, but considering the flooding evidence was over my head I didn’t hold much hope…
Holding little hope I had a look further along the moat towards the road, but couldn’t spot a thing… it was while returning to my car that a local pulled up to make sure I was ok and tell me not to loiter as she thought the park was soon to go under again…
I got back in Renaldo and turned back towards home…

Looking for something to fill in time whilst not studying, it was suggested that I finally get around to logging THOSE caches long found but never logged. Some even have funny stories of being visited not only once or twice, but a few even have had a third or fourth visit before realising I've been there done that. The date is as near to the correct day the cache was found. So sorry for the generic and late log.JABs.
Our 3rd trip out this way in as many weeks, another 4 days for this run.
Why do country COs place their caches so FAR APART!
After a great night's sleep at Kinbombi Falls free camping we were keen to collect a few more smilies!
Day 2 ... #14 of 20 smilies today.
A nice quick find but the bullants were not happy at all!
Made our mark & replaced as found.

There is not a problem, we have been sharing this hide since April 2012. Grab a stick and dig the cache out. But, remember the ants bite.
Some nasty looking ants have buried the container and used the bottom of the container to hold their eggs! Not touching that!
Hi there Sweet-Sour.
We found your cache **"Lawless Park"** today. (This makes our find count 25645).
Today's plan was to head north up along Booubyjan Road and then continue back on to Brooweena - Woolooga Road. Also today we cursed the Garmin Drive Smart, because it has a habit of not showing caches on its map. So we probably missed a couple today and picked up a few we blindly drove past the other day.[:(!]
It was a really nice drive today, made even better by not having to wade through long grass to find the caches. Our tally today was 34 caches & 0 DNF's.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Either a smiley badge or a gold coin
Thank you for adding to our adventure.
Regards
Ian & Penny

I always have lots of fun at these events. And long night of chatting to do.
So for the generic post. Because I always find to many caches

I found your cache with my Dad, Oddiewan and most of the time, Semik. I am way behind on logging so learned how to use templates so I can catch up. Sorry this is not a detailed log, but I will do better with my logging now that I have the ability to log caches on a mobile phone. Thanks for the cache Sweet-Sour
Caching with my main squeeze, Oddiewan and our younger cachers, Flash_cat & BitternA4 hitting the trails with Liz & Bruce. Came up to catch up with caching friends at the unofficial-official Newbies Caching Event in Kilkivan.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Now we have to cope with Corona Virus ..... and social distancing. We are currently hunkered with our caravan on a farm at Manyung near Murgon.
Caching at least keeps us sane in a time of social distancing - when it is suitable. And now we have had some restrictions lifted, and we and start hiking, and national parks are open, so we are out and about again, with caution.
We have cached in this area previously, in fact, cached out, so please to see that Sweet-Sour has been busy in our absence.
Nice little park, shame we don't have a picnic with us (which from today, we are allowed)
The cache has been a bit lonely, the ants have taken over, so Mr D had to beat the cache with a big stick before flicking the cache out. Eventually retrieved, signed and returned.
Thanks Sweet-Sour for today's fun.

For the end of the year, a plan was set afoot to go camping for a night in Auburn River National Park. Today I'm rolling out that way with Fangsoki and 1MinnieMoo as we head a bit north and a lot west from Brisbane. I was happy to just bother with the two priority geocaches hundreds of kilometres from home, but alas, there are plenty of geocaches along the way that make happy for statistics and challenge qualification all around, so a few stops were had - fine by me. Oh boy, it is a long time since I've found any of these 'scattered along the roadside' style hides!
Quite nicely, I got to sit in the back, indifferent to where we stopped and MinnieMoo had planned which to stop at and run the pocket queries. Overall we found eleven in this Kilkivan-ish stretch of the Wide Bay Highway (even if circumstances dictated we wouldn't be at the event). This was to be our tenth and second-last such find this morning.
Upon seeing the name for this, I wondered if there'd be ladies of the night flaunting their wares in public, money laundering and texting while driving going on, but really, lawless by name only. We slowly rolled through the park and Minnie spotted the likely candidate for a GZ. Sure enough, it was and the logbook was signed at 12:03. So, lunch soon? Thanks for this geocache Sweet-Sour

An overnight journey with Fangsoki and Captain Terror to West Eidsvold picking up a few caches along the way to our final destination to camp the night in Auburn.
Comments were made about the lawlessness of the place, and how Jude Law would not be allowed here. Guess Lucy Lawless (Xena) would tho.

Captain Terror, 1MinnieMoo and I were heading west to Auburn and its "environs". We deemed it would be plain rude not to grab a few caches as we headed west.
We did a loop in the Canyonero before our various smartphones settled on where it should be. We soon found the cache safe and sound. A nice little place to stop. TFTC Sweet-Sour

Heading to Blackall to attend QOGM19 but I first wanted to find all the cotton in Emerald. I pulled up near GZ by my calculations and a man drove in and asked if I was ok. I assured him I was and just having a break from driving. I not sure if it was me or not but I used the hint and not my phone to find cache as it was about 20 mtrs away. Signed log and replaced carefully as found. TFTC

Making our way back to Adelaide and enjoying the sunshine we stopped here for lunch and then made a quick find and sign.

Wow what a great cache! We've been meaning to get this one for a while, but kept forgetting to download it before we left town. We've even stopped one time and had a blind hunt without any coords! Signed the log which feels damp but it could just be chilly. Geokids made some happy swaps. Thanks for the cache!
What a nice spot for lunch break!

Third and last find for a massive 14 hours in the car heading to Bundaberg from Toowoomba via Maryborough and home the more direct way. With only a few more hours left in the car journey we all needed somewhere to stretch our legs. As I was with muggles they were kind enough to let me choose the stopping point. This was it. Started the search in the wrong spot before I spotted the obvious in the long grass. Signed the log and all returned to where it belonged. TFTC sweet-sour
Needed a stretch out of the car on way to Rocky. Pretty muddy with the rain. Must remember to keep more wipes in the car. Cache found and signed. Tftc
Dodging storms and a tornado today. Had to hide the caravan behind a small town hall for a while. Picked up this cache before being held up for 2 hrs by a fallen tree and power line. It's been an interesting day. tftc.

Day 15 of our road trip to the QOGM and return and today we head off from Mundubbera for Brisbane via Gympie. Thank you so much to all the COs who have placed caches along the highways and byways that we will travel over in the fourteen days we are away. Without your caches we would not see and/or learn about your local area.
There was a truck parked in the rest area but no-one around so I headed to the obvious GZ and made the grab.

Hi sweet - sour, thanks for the cache.
Found en route Toowoomba to Bundaberg with geoDaughter jll1713.
We noticed that the sign a few kms back down the road advised that there were no toilets, so we dubbed this spot Looless Park.
Nonetheless, a nice place to stop and break the journey, and find a cache, albeit eventually, once the correct host was spotted.

A quick find in good condition while heading home to canberra. This park has the best tree for storm protection that I've seen in a long time. With bad storms predicted it's almost tempting to wait it out here, at least if it weren't for the terrible heat we've been experiencing.

I drive past this park every time I travel up to Gladstone but I have never stopped. This gave me a reason to stop. I braved the tall grass for this grab, thankful its probably a little cold for snakes! Gorgeous jacaranda (?) tree beside the picnic table. Will have to bring the kids here so that they can find the cache and have a climb in the tree. Dropped a TB which has travelled a great distance to get here.
Found on our way back to the Sunny Coast. The log book was very wet but we dried it out as best we could. TFTC Sweet-Sour

On my way out to Wuruma Dam to check out the camping prospects for a couple of days R & R. forget it, chock a block with grey nomads, was hopping that they had all gone home, forgot that they are still having crap weather south of the border.
On the way into Eidsvold for a couple of days R & R.
While out here decided to do a little house keeping. The cache is in remarkable condition, considering I haven't seen it since I placed it on 7th May 2012.
I must say thankyou to all the cachers that have found it and left it in such pristine condition.
Thankyou one and all [^] [^]
As we approached this one we were concerned about the smoke we could see. Arriving at GZ we could see that the area around it had been recently burnt and there was still smoke coming from nearby. After knocking the snails off the container we were relieved to see that it was fine, in fact ironically it was quite damp inside.
Thanks.
Thanks.
