After dropping the car at the panel beaters, I cycled home along the Hauraki Rail Trail, so nabbed a few caches as I went. No problems locating this one. TFTC.
Good cache. We signed using supplied pencil but log pages were a bit random. NINO TFTC
Away for the weekend to ride a section of the Hauraki Rail Trail from Waihi. This afforded me the opportunity to snag some caches en route. I zigzagged around a bit although in doing so it allowed me to spot a likely place in an obvious location. Thanks willbuild#5074Logged using Cachly.
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches Willbuild. Certainly above waterlineCheers, Cympull.
Nice hide and a quick find - also tons of muggles went past and didn't spot us. Tftc
2nd cache on my morning walk. What great old trees in this area.
The grass was very long and if I was back home in Australia you would use some caution when walking through it as this type of area is very amenable to our deadly snakes. But since this is NZ it was plough on through. Found cache easily. Signed log and replaced.
The bridge was swinging by itself in a stiff breeze so it was fun to walk across.

Found whilst out on a ride with mum keylev, B4Dawn and NurseDr.
Had fun, thanks for the cache.

Apologies but completed these caches a few weeks ago and forgot to log them. Completed with Keylev.TFTC
Last rode this trail in April 2015 but with the geo-kids being quite small at the time we had to stop halfway so never got the caches at this end. This was a chance for me to tidy them up and NurseDr and B4Dawn to get them all.
Nice quick find here.
Thanks for the cache.

Found with Kiwiterm on our way back to Paeroa from Waihi. Started barking up the wrong tree at first. Thanks for the cache
Lots of muggles coming and going here, so it was a case of being patient until an opportunity presented itself.
Straight forward find after that.
Thanks for putting this here for me to find

Great way to spend a sunny day.

A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. The weather was mostly dry today, a bonus. We cruised from Waihi Beach to Paeroa, me on the bike down the HRT trail. A really nice bike ride.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Mr P and I had the best time, biking, finding caches and just enjoying the area. Highly recommended. T4tc
Heading from Paeroa to Waihi and back again on the HRT today, we collected a few caches along the way. We found this part of the trail to be very popular, and it is not hard to see why as this is a very scenic part of the HR trail.
A quick find here of this decent sized cache and we were back on our bikes.

We took a moment to rest and look for this one after a pleasant walk from Waikino.
Great spot for a cache and a nice sized container. Thanks willbuild.

Found during my third visit on HRT. This time most beautiful section. Section C: Paeroa to Waihi. This time 46km on my bike. Enjoyed so much!

Todays mission was to ride from Waihi to Waikino. We went a bit further on towards Karangahake in the end. 23.8 km return. We made many finds and a few DNF's. We replaced 1 cache with CO permission but didn't have anything else with us for the other DNF's we came across. We met up with a buddy cacher "Tramyard" at the waterfall and met again on our return journeys. Great to meet another cacher on the journey. We found the first part of the track a little challenging with the the up and down portions of the track, but after that the track became very pleasant to ride. A lovely sunny day with lots of fellow riders and walkers on the trail today. Once we established where GZ was we made a quick find here. SL. TFTC.
Easy find while our tramping group, tramped from Waihi to Waikino Station
and get the train back to our cars at Waihi. Had a great day weather was very warm and cloudy.

One of eight caches located on our bike ride this afternoon between Waikino and Waihi. Great day for it. Took a few moments to find this one. Good hiding spot! #1864. TFTC.
Nice ride this morning, Waihi to Paeroa and return caching along the way. TFTC!
Kiwis69 and myself are doing the HRT the long, yet less painful way. We have done one section previous and it was decided that it was time to tackle another chunk of the trail. We picked to cycle from Waihi - Paeroa as there was a slight time restraint, plus it was the shorter option and I was worried since it had been awhile since I had some serious seat time. All up it took us 4.5hr (which included a lot of hunting at some caches and a few breaks)
Once we had the cars sorted, and then the bikes sorted it was time to hit the trail. The weather forecast was average today and we hoped that would keep the muggles away. Well there were still quite a few muggles out and about but not as bad as it could be so we managed to time our hunting inbetween people passing by.
Nice little peaceful stop here, Kiwis69 was onto it and soon had the cache in hand.
Thanks for the hides and giving us some welcome breather stops!

It's nearly 4 years to the day since our usual caching cronies cycled the HRT trail but without 11hpg11 & myself being part of that group. Today, its finally our turn! Decided to be kind to ourselves post-Xmas & New Year festivities and just focus on cycling the Waihi - Paeroa section today. Weather forecast was thankfully wrong & we're enjoying the trail in lovely sunshine. Nice hide here, thanks for the placement.
I'm travelling around NZ for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my guide-book. I'm glad geocaching took me to Waihi, I wasn't planning to stay here, but driving through the Karangahake Gorge last night made me want to explore more. Today I rented a bike and biked the beautiful trail from Waihi to the gorge and back. Thank you for placing all these caches along the way, otherwise I wouldn't have tought of this. I rented a bike for half a day (5 hours), so I didn't have time to find all the caches, but I got to see a lot, and I did the windows-walk. It was a beautiful day!

On a mission with fellow cacher, Dee+ME. A great winters day for a bike ride along this fabulous track, fantastic history in the area, all good here, many thanks for bringing us here. Cheers.
Start of a two day adventure to complete the three legs of the rail trail with gernita using e-bikes to get around. We signed the logs with gernaze to save time and space.
Cycling the HRT from Waihi to Paeroa and the on to Te Aroha today. This was an easy find, but the grass was quite long, and wet, so I stayed in the trail and let others do the actual finding for this one! Looks like the sun is breaking through the fog!!
I guess the HRT series had to detour around this one. I really liked the place you found to hide the cache. Took: Sentosa and Back TB. TFTC.
Lovely peaceful walk beside the river on a moody Waihi morning. Nice quick find and swap TFTC
I was out for the day cycling the Hauraki Rail Trail from Paeroa to Waihi with the kids and picking up a few caches along the way (alas not all of them as there just wasn't enough time ) This was the ninth find of the day and was fairly quickly located. Kids loved the size of it with swag to swap! Dropped a TB, TFTC!
After planning a trip to the bay of plenty for easter to gather a cache or two, it changed dramatically (we thought) when we heard that cyclone cook was about to bear down on this area our hopes had dropped .
But no almost the complete opposite, so after getting bike and body sorted it was to the start we went and ride the HRT trail, we started in thames and the plan was to ride to te aroha if the body allowed.
Nice quick find here exactly where and how it should be.
Thanks for the smiley and the placement.

Today we decided to hike this trail..... We started at the "HRT start" and walked to "Victoria Battery" and turned around and came back. While we were hiking we had to stopped on the way to search for geocaches that was hidden on this scenic route. We had a lot of fun
Thanks for bringing us to this part of Waihi.

Good sized cache here, out of sight of the main track. There would be problems if the river came up this high. TFTC
We had cycled past the dam, it would have been good if the council had a path down to it? or perhaps we missed it, as we focused on finding the next cache? The GPS took me straight to a possible hiding place, and I soon had the cache. But I would be worried if the river ever flooded to this level! we would all be in so much trouble
Thanks for the hide.
Thanks for the hide.
Out with Rustynz, Out playing on the bike with friends and Family having a fun time in the sun TFTC
On a bike this was a quick ride from the cache at the end of the road! Just getting used to riding with clips, so a very nervous rider at the moment. So coming upon this one so fast meant I had a moment of fear that I wouldn't be able to unclip my foot before topling over sideways.
A bit of a search and the cache was in hand

Biking from Paeroa to Waihi and caching along the way. I think I circled around twice before I found the cache. So many nooks and crannies on this host! First sweep was quick, second loop was slower, cache was found with the careful search. Nice sized container. Thanks for the hide!
On my inaugural bike ride but geocaching is more interesting. Was relying on others for coordinates and the concrete structure looked promising but no. Thanks for the cache Willbuild.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... It feels like ages since the last time we were out on the hunt. The weather has been predictably wet of late...
HRT Trail: We zoomed past the historic remains on the river's edge. We were intent on reaching the end of the trail while energy levels were reasonable. This was a fitting climax to an epic two-hour walk. We had no trouble locating the hide. It was high and dry, and in good condition. TFTC.

Earlier in the year, tikitour and I decided we would team up and cycle the whole Hauraki Rail Trail over the long Easter weekend and look for all the caches along the way. On Good Friday we did the Thames to Paeroa leg and yesterday we did the Te Aroha to Paeroa leg. Today we left the best till last and did the final leg from Waihi to Paeroa. It was another lovely day today and this section of the trail was a whole lot busier than the other 2, but we didn't have too many troubles with muggles. It was lovely cycling through here and I would come back and do it again. Soon found this cache along the way. TFTC!

Day 3 of our cycling weekend and this was the best of the three days...fantastic track with lovely views, ups and down, great bridges , historical sites to visit, amazing tunnel and of course caches to find. It was a day of great variety, riding and walking. We cycled down from where we were staying in Waihi and we picked up a few along the way. Thanks for the placement of all the caches.
We liked this pretty spot - although due to confusion caused by looking at the wrong clue, it took a while to find this cache! It was pretty easy once I was looking in the right place! We left our Kevin the Kiwi TB to start his travels round NZ - please post some photos of his travels if you pick him up. FP awarded for the nice location and good size.

#11488. We could have done without the early dew when we walked through the long grass. It took us a while to track this one down. TFTC.
We were out on our bikes by 8 this morning to ride the Hauraki bike trail from Waihi to Paeroa, with a little detour to do the Karangahake Windows Walk (which meant we missed going through the 1 km tunnel). It was a perfect day for it, no wind, cloudy and not too hot. A great ride with wonderful scenery as well as the history lessons along the way.
The long grass was still a bit to wade through, so I followed StreetWalker's track. He carried on to the next tree while I searched the first one. Even though I looked in the right hiding place, I failed to find the cache and it took a look from SW to see it - must be his height advantage . A might tree. TFTC.

Plan today was to ride from Waihi to Paeroa, stay overnight and cycle back the next day. There were 6 in our group (4 geocachers and 2 understanding muggles) A&JKiwis went as far as the train station before turning back and it was great to have some caching company along the way. Excellent day, albeit quite hot so a dip in the river further along was welcome. Thanks for placing these caches.
