Wednsday. Kerry from Slow Puncture was out and about today searching for the remainder of Monster Lane, and also any randoms that got in the way!
Well, from the map where we had to go was obvious. Regrettably, the area was cordoned off. Since when does that stop a geocacher? Since all the workmen were there having a meeting right next to where GZ would be. [xx(] They were in the shade - wise people!
This was the only DNF we had on this trip.
Thanks [Blue]barbbowman[/Blue], for showing us this place anyway, definitely - we will be back!

Found on the way home from my night shift.
Was a little bigger than I had thought so walked back to the car and although I didn't have my GC bag with me, found and placed in a few small swaps just to keep any future geokid finders happy. TFTC Barb always enjoy your hides.

Decided to travel down towards Moreton Bay, Deagon, Shorncliffe and Brighton to try my hand at some night caching along the Monster Lane Series. Have been a Doctor Who fan for many a year. Thought it might be fun to remember some of the characters from the show, And the chance tp pick up a few more caches on the way. Threw the trusty MTB un the Geo Truck and off. Thanks for the great cache and thanks for bringing me here.
Thanks for the great cache and adventure barbbowman
This Day in History
Wednesday, January 8, 1800. : The Wild Boy of Aveyron voluntarily emerges from the forests of France.
Victor of Aveyron, commonly known as the Wild Boy of Aveyron, was first discovered in either 1797 or 1799. His history was unknown but he was believed to have been either lost or abandoned as a very small child, and somehow survived alone in the woods.
The boy was found wandering in the forest near Saint-Sernin-sur-Rance, France, his body bearing old scars that seemed to be a result of him having lived the majority of his life in the woods, and he could not speak. Despite being taken into care, he soon escaped back to the woods, where he remained for another year. However, on 8 January 1800, Victor voluntarily emerged from the woods, accepting the care he was offered. At this stage, he was estimated to be about twelve years old.
Victor soon became the object of much study. In one experiment, Biology professor Pierre Joseph Bonnaterre took him out in the snow where the boy played quite happily, without clothes, seemingly not feeling the cold. Jean Marc Gaspard Itard, a young medical student, attempted to teach Victor to speak. Whilst great progress was made in socialising the boy, and even teaching him to read and speak very simply, he never grasped complex language. However, Victor's ability to show empathy and to socialise with others discredited one theory that he was autistic. Victor lived with Jean Marc Gaspard Itard until he died in 1828.

I have been staying on the Gold Coast for a week, and today came to Deagon to visit a mate. Whilst he was at work I borrow his bike and rode the Monster Series. It just so happened that I rode it in reverse order, no problem! A very enjoyable series on a nice flat bike track. Great fun!
I was on the wrong side of the road, but quickly corrected that.
Cheers

I have at the moment a little bit of time so I decided to do the monster lane on one day by foot. I started with this cache.
All together I loved the monster lane. At first I was annoyed of the traffic noise in the beginning but on the bicycle way were less people so perfect conditions to find caches. I looked forward to walk an the ocean and it was so calm. On the other side there were so many people that it was not relaxing to find the caches especially because of the muggles around. The end of the walk was my favorite! Not many people, no cars and only relaxing with nice caches!
I walked around 30.000 steps which means circa 20 kilometers in 7 1/2 hours with 50 caches which I found. For the number of caches, the monster lane is really well maintained, only some caches are not in a good condition.
Thank you so much for the lovely day, the exercise and I also achieved with this round my 500th milestone!

Yay! Final cache of the day and I found it! Love the container and the "child" reference to the Nanogene TFTC and this great series, barbbowman Will be back another day to find some more.
I came here once before and left empty-handed. I was not sure if it was my cache blindness flaring up again. After recent maintenance visit by CO, I made the find rather quickly. A lot of four-wheeled muggles as expected at peak hour in the morning. My biggest concern was not being stealthy, but being spotted holding this ridiculous container and what excuse I would use if I had to explain myself. Well, I was able to find and return container in between spikes in the traffic flow. TFTC bb.
Searched high and low for this and noted that it hadn't been found for a few months and that some of the most recent finds were fellow kiwis that we actually had meet...... its a small world!
The CO might want to have a quick look as all the other caches in this series are good... maybe as it was late in the afternoon we were starting to get caching blindness!

Arrived today in Brisbane together with Cats&Dragons from New Zealand to have a day out geocaching in the area before heading to the Mega. After finding some higher terrain once earlier we decided to spend the nighttime finding the Monster Lane geocaches and others in the area. TFTC
Found as part of a short caching adventure before the official start of the OZ MEGA with Slieschke, Yorkshirekiwi83 & Vistra 0n Thursday 17th April. All logs were signed as "3ST"
We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the drive and the caches that we were presented with (learning along the way some local acronyms SPOR which occasionally we turned in to LPOR )
Thanks for the fun of the run and the sights that we saw including a large Lizard basking in the road (swerved to avoid) alongthe power trail.
So again thank you for the FUN of the hunt

Today spinna76, *SuzySquirrel*, MinkosDes and I decided we would bike it in the sweltering, stifling, sticky heat to grab some little Monsters among other things. I too hope you excuse my copy and paste logs and our logging as S.S.S.M. OMG, last one for the day. Thanks so much for the adventure Barb though I seriously suggest not doing it on a hot day. See you when we come back to get a smiley for the ones we missed.

What a day... There was ups, there was downs and there was OUTS! This was a great day and I loved visiting this awesome trail again with some awesome friends. Though after two goes, a lesson has been learnt... NEXT TIME I'M DOING IT BY POWERED SCOOTER!!!
This cache was part of *SuzySquirrel*, Stacevel, spinna76 and I's sweaty adventure of Monster Lane today. After getting an invite from the team to join them on an adventure down to the Big Smoke, I was excited (as I am anytime a cache is involved). I was even more excited to hear that it was to concur the ever so famous [xx(] Monster Lane . Back in July 2014, I started this great trail with Fairy Mother and we started it on foot, that's right, foot! We grabbed the first half of the trail and ended our great walk at the bay. Well, today may have felt like cycling in an oven though doing it on bikes, compared to foot, is just awesome. Plus, the company was alright too...
Once again barbbowman, thank you for all the effort that you have gone to to put all this together. It is one hell of a physical and mental adventure.
DARN IT!!!!!!! WHY ARE THERE GREEN MARKERS... I NOW HAVE TO COME BACK... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

#922 @ 6:05 PM Out caching with Stacevel, *SuzySquirrel* and MinkosDes today doing Monster Lane and other caches along the way. Today started at 9am and finally ended on this one of the Monster Lane series. We had a hard time doing these today due to the heat and humidity. Although we took plenty of water we found we couldn't keep the water intake up enough. Come the halfway point we were well and truly feeling the pain of our task today but pushed on. I would like to thank the CO for putting out this series. We will be back another day to clean up the ones we didn't get to. ~ TFTC barbbowman
Out and about in the area today, thought I'd tidy up a few of the ones I'd overlooked previously on Monster Lane. A quick grab between traffic, at first I convinced myself it wasn't there. Sure was! Managed to gouge off half my thumb nail returning it.. Ouchy Good thing I know a little first aid TFTC
TFTC, Recovered and returned. Another Hunt down the lane and the first one of the day made for a nice spot to stretch the legs after the ride from home. Quick find and sign. The thrill is rising as the day still holds many more caches! Away!
I know we are trying to encourage children to take up Geocaching but this cache take the biscuit[even a rusk]

When leaving from #65 I selected the ice rink cache as the next one, and happily shot past this.
Only when making notes on my paper over there, realised that one was skipped. Well, one of the beauties of bicycles is the ease of going back and forth. Not exactly the most lawful and supported way to backtrack my way here using the footpaths but careful does it.
At the GZ had an idea where the hide might be. But when I pulled something out from there I was rather surprised. What on earth is this doing in a place like this???
On my paper I had only the Monster Lane numbers without names so the writing on the container did not make sense at all. Thought for a while that it's just a joke and I'm yet to find the actual cache...
But hey, look, there's something inside. Something that's typical to caches...
This sure was the first time I've seen a container like this. Funny idea. TFTC, Barbbowman!

Another epic day of caching with Stealthseeker in an attempt to finally smash all the monsters on the lane.
Don't know what happened to SS on this one. It was a nice change for me to have the cache in hand while she was searching in totally the wrong place.

In an epic 37 klm ride around some bayside suburbs, with TheGreenGeckos & M44 out for a ride, we were determined that some milestones tumbled!
Out on a very enjoyable days bike caching with Mischievous Maverick and M44. Massive effort placing and maintaining this many caches. Well done BB! TFTH
Found quickly, just as well walked along to a seat to sign the log, and a walker passed me. Thanks for the cache and the series.
Saw obvious spot but followed GPS. Wasted a littke time just loojing then back to obvious spot. Got'im. TFTC
I don't usually write cut / paste / template logs but make the occasional exception for 'power' trails. I've managed to fit in a couple of days caching around Brisbane this week so decided to go for some more caches along the Monster Lane series. A perfect day for a long long walkabout with the weather here at least 10C warmer then back home in Nelson (NZ). These were creepy creatures indeed. Quick find for the cache too. TFTC, Biggles.
#70 and final find of the day after cycling round the Monster Lane trail. Found and log signed. Off for a late night logging caches. Tftc.
A quick hop out of the car. Noted the barrier was a bit bent in, but that was not near where the cache was located. I had seen this type of container before in my travels and MsMaddy thought that's not it.. but I knew it was when I popped the lid off. TFTC
We spotted the hide quickly after hopping out of Sooty, although at first I thought it was litter
The barrier has been 'dinged' and is bent, so perhaps the cache will be removed when it is repaired. We notified the CO later in the day so it can be attended to.
Another quick find, and the last for this afternoon as it's now cold and dark
TFTC barbbowman!

Jogged south from a previous DNF, determined to get this one. Sure enough, it was where I expected. Easy grab and sign before heading off to the moosemobile. Now to the dump. Should get about doing what I initially set out to do... tftc barbbowman

GPS insisted GZ was somewhere else but I was able to spot it straight away with the help of the hint . LOL about the container . All is good with the cache . Found with Matt_Eth . TFTH Barb .
Poor old GPS had us a bit off today for this one, but we looked a bit further afield and Jenn found the cache in the obvious spot. Another first for cache containers! I've seen these before, but never used as a cache container Cache is fine. TFTC Barb.
Gees if only the rest of the afternoon had gone as quick as the last two I likely would have even had some time to grab a couple more on the way home. Oh well things went how they went and nothing can change that.

Getting desperate for containers now
What a mission this was. I completed the series, plus a few others in just over 8 hours on my bike. My GPS log shows it travelled over 27 k's. My legs are feeling it now though.
I have thourouly enjoyed the wide variety of hides, terrain and country side.
This must have taken so long to put together it's not funny. All the caches were found within a couple of meters of their co-ordinates and it didn't take many to realise that they were all going to be on the money. When I got stuck on a few, I just went back to where my GPS showed GZ and the cache was usually there. Amazing.
The first section was mozzie country and the coastal part was really suffering from the floods.
Thanks barbbowman,
Cheers from Browngang

Catching up on logging after a long christmas break. I chose this day - one of the Hottest of the year and with a king tide so I got soaked in salt spray on the waterfront to do the trail. It was a real challenge in the heat but I got there in the end on my trusty mountain bike. TFTC barbbowman. [1473]
Wow... big RBT going on right here on this side of the road today. Decided not to gain the attention of half a dozen police men who were about 10 meters away, and kept riding

Visiting Brisbane and I was given a day off to go caching on my own. After doing a PQ I saw this series and decided to give it a crack. I parked at Decker Park and not knowing whether or not I would walk the whole way I decided to head down the Deagon Deviation to #28 and walked back. Then I headed down the foreshore and decided to just keep walking.
It was sunny and warm, but the sea breeze was cool and was whipping up some chop. It was high tide and the footpath was unwalkable (unless you wanted to get wet).
After I left the seashore the heat increased as the breeze did the opposite, but following the caches I managed to find a bid loop to do to get back to the car.
I had about 7 DNFs for the day with about 70 finds over 33km in 8 hours and was very footsore and weary by the time I got back to the car.

Tried this one this morning but the GPS kept pointing to a Duranta bush on the other side of the chain mesh fence. All I got in there was a handful of prickles. After finishing the rest of the series (that are available), I decided to come back for a second try based upon the caches I found today - and there it was.
Thanks for the series barbbowman great stuff. And thank you also for maintaining the caches so well and responding so fast to DNF logs. Not like the owner of a similar series of caches on a bike path in South Australia who decided to archive the lot after I logged 14 needs maintenance in 25 cache finds.

The witching hour was a great time to be under here as I can imagine it would be very loud during the day. Cache was quickly extracted, disassembled, reassembled and replaced. It's guarded by a loud cicada! TFTC again barb b.
