What a cool find... I'd love to see a cricket match here.. it has the features to make an interesting game. TFTC location-challenged.
Found at 12:11 PM GAFF1.Hard to visualise that this was a cricket oval - I mean all those rocks and bumps and roots all over the place! How long ago was this then? 150 years?Trudged through the bush and with excellent co-ords the cache was found in the first spot that I looked in [^]Thanks to location-challanged
The geocaching plan for Taurus Six and I today, changed somewhat when we realised there were still three First to Finds to be found around the Bridgetown , Boyup Brook , Kojonup backroads areas. We have been keeping an eye on them over the last several weeks , but have not had an opportunity until today to get down that way. We are pleasantly surprised that they have not been found as yet. We set off early and the drive down from Bunbury was quite beautiful , with the full moon still in the sky , patches of fog everywhere and as the sun was rising there was steam coming off the paddocks , which was a really lovely site. We headed down the South West Highway and started the day with a lovely breakfast in Balingup before hitting the backroads as well as the first to finds we took this opportunity to clear up straggler caches and previous dnfs along the way . All in all it was an enjoyable caching morning. This was our eighth cache find of the day . We can honestly say we have not seen a cricket pitch like this before . It is actually quite fascinating how the bush has claimed back the oval. We circled before making our way into the middle and soon had cache in hand . Thanks for the cache find Blair and Son .
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 48 - Katanning to Bunbury via Kojonup, Boyup Brook, Donnybrook and Bonyanup. Yet another day that was too long and I should have split in two, but due to bookings could not. It only rained while I was trying to cache in Donnybrook. There were a few roadside caches there were a few short walks and way too many machinery caches, but I did find some of them. The day got away from me and I did not do everything on my over ambitions list. I made it to Bunbury and got set up just before dark. I did not get out for the evening, so had a nice night cooking dinner and planning my next few days while I am in Bunbury for a week.I have seen overgrown tennis courts and even ovals gone to very long grass, but this one has really been let go. The track felt a little surreal as there was nothing to see. When I reached GZ and saw a little of the old pitch, that was the only clue there was really. Thanks for the cache location-challanged47674.3 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Equator A#19**Albida**
An interesting walk to break up a long journey. I hoped it wasn't a needle in a haystack walk but I found the cache easily. I couldn't see the cricket pitch, but maybe I just didn't look hard enough. Tftc.
Big cricket fan. Enjoyed this one. Found near the obvious location. Shame the pitch is gone. Groundsman needs to be sacked tftc
Found it. TFTC Blair and Son .Happy to make the find here, replaced as found. certainly overgrown now, didn't see the pitch but I will admit I was looking mainly for snakes
Started our 2nd tour of WA now touring around the south. 16 January 2022 2:11 pm Tyfc Blair and Son total caches now 3752
Tftc. Deciding to go home a different route and stopped to do this one. Pretty cool to discover the old pitch
Travelling to Bremer and had a pit stop here. Very cool, we even found the concert pitch! Forgot a pen so didn't fill out the log. TFTC
Caching our way home from an enjoyable WAGB weekend.
TFTC Blair and Son this is find #11988 for us.

pug002 found it 3/4/21 on our square dance weekend at Boyup Brook. TFTC location-challanged
Easy find after driving there to within 45m. Amazing how unlike a cricket field it looks. Certainly reclaimed. Thanks for putting this there.
A quick find with bigSalmon1. We found the old cricket pitch, thanks for the history TFTC
Lots of ants around! didn’t see a cricket pitch at all, obviously over grown TFTC
Really enjoyed visiting the old memorial! Replaced the container so it should be good for a while now! Thanks for bringing us here, it’s what geocaching is all about!
Thanks for the hide. I was able to drive the loop around the cache then walk in a short distance. The lid of the container is cracked and needs replacing
interesting place been a while since the last match. cache container crumbling away didn't have a replacement with me. TFTC
Touring the Great Southern using Geocachiing as our guide.
We headed out today from Kojonup and did a massive loop of some 420km. We saw some great historic locations, old schools, old halls, so much information shared with us today through Geocaching. We often say WA doesnt have the history of other States but boy you did us proud today.

Not many places to hide a geocache so even though it seemed to be 7m out we found it easily.
Thanks for the interesting location.
Thanks for the interesting location.
Found it. Tftc. SL how bizarre. You wouldn't need sand paper here to rough up the ball
Guess putting in a throw down is one way of getting a smiley face. Oh well, maybe I will pass that way again sometime...
Decided to do a caching run to Albany and stay overnight and cache on the way home. Our aim was to pick up as many as possible including multi,s and puzzle caches that the hubby had solved. Most caches were found quickly with a few that took a bit of searching to find. A big thanks to all the CO,S for placing the caches for us and everyone else to find.
Have replaced container and it is a 200ml Sistema.

No sign of anything here today, not even anything burnt. Think this one needs to be checked on.
Needs checking. Previous finders confirmed that cache had been burnt, but nothing there at all now that I could find.
Found what remains of the cache fire has destroyed this a few burnt coins and melted lid of container
Took awhile to as the bush has been burnt, found the remains of the container ( melted lid and scrapes of the log book )

Mike off the long runup with Johnny Onefeather receiving. The delivery strikes the pitch at a good length and twists away at an impossible angle. Johnny shoulders arms and the ball is retrieved by silly midon. That's stumps and a good find.
No-one was injured preparing this report.
Thanks for the effort. We'd better remember to picnic here sometime.

I think we might pass on the cricket when the outfield can't see the pitch for trees. Great spot for the cache, but it still does need some maintenance.
Working in the area and thought I'd make a quick find log book has been wet but is now dry had nothing on me to replace container with. TFTC great spot been here before but never knew it used to be a cricket pitch
Hard to understand there was a cricket ground here, but we found the proof of the cricket pitch! An easy walk and a quick find. Container was damaged but dry, sorry did not have a replacement at hand which we usually carry. Hopefully the next geocacher will be so kind. TFTC location-challanged.
Found it but couldn't write in log book. Everything full of water. It needs a new container and book. Didn't have any on board. Emptied water and turned upside down.
Headed to collie this weekend to catch up with friends and found a long list of caches up and back from Albany. TFTH TFTC TNLN
Having a night in collie for the collie idol at the pub and utilised the day after to

Oops just saw this one while checking out the trip over here and saw we hadn't logged it. A cool cricket pitch hidden away, imagine the games they used to play. TFTC
Found after a longer than usual search in a quite unexpected spot. A disappointing end to what would have been a great local ground in it's day. Sl - but the container lid is cracked at one end and may allow insects or water in. The container has turned a bit brittle, but the contents are in good condition. Thanks to location-challanged for the cache.
Found it! TNLN, TFTC

A detour on our way home after visiting family in Denmark. Eventually spotted a familiar object which was inadvertently left by a fellow cacher. Good for us as we then knew we were close to gz. Located the well concealed container 5 mts from where our gps indicated. Thanks location-challenged.
Forgot to log after the find. Interesting place and yes we did find the cricket pitch. The cache was a bit tricky to find but standing in just the right spot we saw it. Thanks for an interesting bit of history and TFTC
On our way to Albany for a break and decided to take a different route via Collie and then Mrs K's home territory west of Kojonup for a bit of a trip down memory lane. It was a wild and woolly day with lots of heavy rain squalls which we managed to dodge most. A long but enjoyable and rewarding trip to start our week
Although this was Mrs K's home town, she was not aware of the existence of this sports ground. A check with her Mum and older sister confirmed that it had indeed been regularly used and there used to be a big event on the sports ground every Easter Monday. Mrs K's older brother said that there used to also be a horse racing track around the edge of the field.
As we wandered around, we worked out where the tennis courts were and the "pavilion" before making our way to the cricket pitch which was obvious from the lack of vegetation on the strip. Took a while to find the cache, but Mrs K eventually made the find
Thanks for the cache location-challanged [^] - and thanks for educating one of the locals

After staying with Haggles last night in Katanning, I am making my way across to Manjimup for Loudy16's housewarming. I think it has been quite a while since any cricket was played here. TFTC.

On our way home after a disappointing under 13s grandfinal with the little forward pocket player going to sleep in the back seat. We found the old cricket pitch at Devils Creek oval out of Mullewa in July and here we were bashing about in the scrub to find another one. BigBev spied it after a bit of argy bargy with the compass and the greiving footy player in the vehicle tooting the horn.tftc
It's amazing what you find when you take a walk off the track. Amazing to see the remnants of the pitch. Tftc
This one took a while to find for us. Was an interesting place for a cache. Sad the demise of these little towns.
[:(!] Went for a four day caching run to Denmark, Pemberton and then back to Perth, on our first day to Denmark we picked up some caches along the way and this was one of them, parked the geocar close as possible to GZ and walked the rest of the way, on arrival at GZ the cache was in hand in a matter of minutes.
