I was a bit skeptical because it had been so long, but the cache is in great shape! I left a small treat for the next finder!
Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way.Beautiful rocks to climb up..., easy to find and sign the guestbook.... Then experienced a fascinating sunset (photo) and spent the night here....Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from SwitzerlandPS: Translated with the Deepl app
Today I hiked from the saddle around to the bay for a late lunch before making my way back to Tidal River. This place is so beautiful and I had it all to myself (apart from the animals). TFTC Team Oaky. FP from me
Wandered along this awesome beach in the hot sun, and was about to head back on the trail but needed a little more beach time. I'm glad I did as this part of the beach has the best aspect of the coast. GZ is nothing short of one of the best postcards of coastal Aus, that's a big statement but its worthy of it! Found the cache without too much trouble before the ocean pulled me back in for another swim. I headed out a bit to some breaking waves to body surf, but an inquisitive seal decided to join. I wasn't sure if he was friend or foe, but after almost colliding mid surf, I decided to let him have his ocean back! TFTC!!!!!
Excited to turn a frown upside down! My parents came here a few years ago pre-covid and weren’t as experienced. The kids came this time and combined with our experience we did it! The terrain makes it seem very hard but it is quite achievable to do if you take a good path. Cache is in good condition. Signed and replaced.
Funny story:
The next day (today) we walked along the beach in the other direction and saw the whole Intestine of a whale!!! But there was no sign of the actual whale anywhere. It was so fresh it still had blood on it and didn’t smell at all… not something you see every day that’s for sure!

We left Youngest Bruce back with friends at the campsite and set off here under heavy cloud from Telegraph Saddle, since the coast route is closed. Two and a half hours later the skies had cleared, and we arrived with the whole beach to ourselves. The younger Bruces went for a swim - they are small dots in the distance below - while I came here for a quick find and a commanding view of the beach. Then it was time for the walk back - we got to the bus tired but feeling we’d done something good. Thanks Team Oaky for placing this here.

Camping at Tidal River for the weekend, set out off about 10am to do a few of the caches out this way. Great day weather wise so enjoyed the views immensely. Stopped at a couple of Earth Caches and got the info required.
After getting to Oberon Bay I thought I would drop my day pack off in the sand dunes and run to the other end and back, big mistake!!
Got to GZ and found the cache (all good there), took some photos then headed back. As I was getting back to my pack I noticed my spare clothes on the beach, what the heck was this. Then I saw that my pack had been raided by Ravens, they had undone the zip, pulled out my clothes then got into the food, this is despite putting the pack under an overhang. Bugger, wont do that again
Anyway got back to camp at 1.15pm so happy with my time even though I am an old fart

Visited on a 3 night walk around the Prom. Enjoyed some easy exercise and chill times with my mates Found this easily and it’s in good condition.
We looked for half an hour and we climbed to the “top” lots of potential hidey holes but no luck.
My muggle friends and I travelled to Wilson’s prom for a hottest 100 road trip. A beautiful walk saw us make our way from tidal river to Oberon bay. Tents were pitched and we went to this spot to watch the sun set together. A beautiful location and amazing memories from a perfect weekend. A FP from me
Well, after hiking over 17 km today already I had to dig deep to find the energy to do another 1.5 round trip from my campsite in the raging wind. I'm glad I did though as this spot is amazing. Having a nice sit in the sun watching the waves. Thanks for another stunning cache location.
After a stunning hike we decided to set up camp at Oberon and search for this one. Found it nestled away nicely! TFTC!
We hiked down to Oberon beach for the night and had to do the extra few hundred metres to grab this cache. We got there just on sunset. Nice easy find after a little climb. Thanks.

Mit Ziehna hier eine kleine Wanderung unternommen und den kleinen gut gefunden. T4TC
Ok, I can tell you about the wonderful hike I had over the last couple of days around the Prom. I could tell you how perfect the water has been and how when the blue skies are like this it makes the water the most crystal sapphire blue. Maybe how the water is the perfect temperature after a day of hiking in the summer.
But, no I’m not going to do that, I’m going to tell you about bloody March Flies and how they did my head in. How I have bites all over me and how they have bitten through my T-shirt. How I had to hide in my tent from them. I have never seen anything like it!!!
Thank you for bringing me to this beautiful place.
Cheers

Revisiting this one just over a year since we first found it.
Surprised to see only 3 names in log since. All in good condition.

What a magnificent way to finish a massive day. Having packed up camp at Sealers and hitting the track by 7:30am we finally reached Oberon Bay (23km) around 3:30.
A quick set up led to a quick rest. My muggle hiking mate (who enjoyed finding a few caches during the day) went for a nap and was soon snoring, so I decided to soak my weary old legs in the cool ocean water for 30mins or so, soaking in the views.
Upon my return I found my pal getting ready for dinner. So after a quick feed he suggested we go for a walk to get this 'Geo', so we did.
His words at GZ were something like 'I reckon ol mate put us in a pretty bloody good spot!' After 2 nights, 8 attempted caches and 42km hiked, this was ny far our favorite spot. We sat atop the rock, resting our weary legs for a good half hour chatting, reflecting on the day and soaking in the magnificent views. Thanks so much for taking us to the end of the beach. I'm not sure if we had have gone down here after 23+km that day, but I sure am glad we did. A fave from me for the views!

Back at the Prom with Jacko and Timmo for a little 48km hike.
After camping overnight at Little Waterloo it was an early start heading from the east coast to the west coast.
A stunning location here. Awesome cache!
Thanks and cheers from PACMAN.

Met a volunteer out on the track trimming bushes who told us today was the best weather he has ever seen at the Prom. Can't argue with that.
I'm usually a high country fellow, however Prom has won me over, and this was the spot of all spots. Absolutely epic.
At least i have some idea of where the silent sentinel is now, however it set into reality what the cache involves.
Thanks Oaky, another fave from me.

After many years I have finally managed to visit Wilsons Prom. What better way to get a feel for the area than to do an overnight hike which was a great way to also get away from the enormous holiday crowd at this time of the year. We took off from Halfway Hut in the morning and made it to Oberon Bay for a great spot to have our breakfast. In between taking too many pics of the moving fog, I left my party to make the trek to Oberon's End for a quick find and a good place to take a few more pics.

My deepest and sincerest apologies for the absolutely woeful logging time for this cache. I currently have a backlog of 460 found it logs from the last three years. Yikes! Obviously, many of these will be difficult to remember and with such a big backlog I simply have to do a default log (other than a few special favourites along the way). I am writing this on the 18th of May 2019, when this log is for 30/11/2016 Thanks to all of the owners and sorry for the pitiful log!
A long walk along the Prom's eastern fringes
I rushed ahead to grab this treasure
Admiring the long stretch of sand
And the glorious rocks
We arrived at Roaring Meg in darkness
But full of adventure

Found on a hike to little waterloo bay. Very beautiful end of the beach. Took the TB. Found on the 28th at 10.00am
Out on a 5 day hiking adventure with geo son in this beautiful national park and whats better we get to grab a couple of caches along the way.
A short hunt had cache in hand and after finding an appropriate bolder to shelter from the 60kmh wind log was signed.

WOW! What a terrific cache pick up while out enjoying Ri's first overnight hike. We had set up our tent at the Oberon Camp site and then braved the gale force winds and rain on the trek down the beach to GZ. Whilst Mum and Ri sheltered amongst the boulders, Dad put his rather dubious balance to the test. Cache was in fantastic condition - I was recently given one of these containers as a Kayaking present, so it's nice to see they work well! TNLN, signed the log and then Dad took a moment to take in the fantastic views. Thanks for a great cache!!
Visited here to drop off a TB as I couldn't find a way through the scrub to Jithi's Lookout.

Well, the first Public holiday for an AFL grand final... What to do? Go to the game? Watch it on TV? No way, time to head towards Wilsons Prom for a weekend of Kayaking and Hiking. I met up with the CO at Tidal River the previous night and we headed for Oberon Bay Campground for the night. An Early morning and we were off on a bit of adventure. This was the first cache of the morning. A nice easy find in a spectacular spot. A Favourite point from me for the location.

Found on a day walk from Tidal River. Low tide made the beach walks enjoyable and creek crossings easy. I checked in at the Oberon campsite where some campers were washing-up with the tap on as if they were in the suburbs; they did turn it off when I suggested they scrub first then rinse. The tank was almost empty so I sympathize with the dozen hikers I passed who will have arrived to an empty tank. TFT walk.
2014-08-30 12:12 With a spectacular day on hand I came down to the Prom with this cache being my primary focus. Set off from Tidal River visitor center and found Biddies Oberon along the way. I've been to the Prom several times but never this trail. Since we haven't had a lot of rain over the last week I managed to cross the creeks without getting wet feet. Enjoyed the stroll along Oberon bay and found the cache in good condition. I hung out at GZ for a little while to take in the scenery and snap several selfies. I decided to take the walk back to Tidal River a bit slower and took in as much as I could. I was fortunate enough to have really close encounter with a wombat and saw heaps of little crabs along the beach at Oberon. I also detoured out to Norman Point for a look. Next time it might pay to drop off a cache there. All up the GPSr logged 18.02km for two caches. My thanks to TeamOaky for placing caches in really worthy places.
Optional side tour par excellence!
After visiting Boulder Saddle I had a choice between heading straight back to Tidal River for pre-dinner nibbles or deviating to Oberon Bay. This lengthened the walk to 25km and I would be walking back in twilight.
Oberon Bay was looking absolutely gorgeous. The cache hide was a good scramble. Although I had a headlamp I chose to finish the walk by moonlight. Glorious! Great cache Team Oaky.

Down the prom for a weekend hike with some friends. Stayed the night at Oberon Bay. The tide was low, so going for this one was easy. It was a beautiful afternoon and a very enjoyable walk to GZ. Thanks for taking me down this end of the beach! Cache is in good condition and was well hidden. Thanks again Team Oaky.

If I had come all of this way and hadn't found the cache then I wouldn't of been too upset as the walk and scenery was fantastic . This is a favorite walk of mine at the Prom. TFTC.
Headed off for a beautiful peaceful walk today. Nobody else around at all. Lots of albatross with their offspring (nearly full grown) along the beach too. Nice view from GZ. Signed log, then had a look at the camp area before returning to Tidal River along the coastal track. ONce again, didn't meet anyone until Normal Bay. TFTC.
Checked on cache on an absolute pearler of a day
All ok and cache was exactly as I left it
Thanks to all previous finders
Cheers Teamoaky

After walking along Norman Bay from Tidal River to "Biddies Oberon"cache I managed to coax Mrs Biggles to walk a bit further before we finally located this one and enjoyed the lovely weather and beaches along the way. I had to resort to "it's just around the next corner/over the next rise/further along the beach" a few times to get Mrs B to the GZ ("are we there yet?"). We were going to loop back via the inland track but as it's featureless for the most part - more so since the fires and flood erosion have ripped into the area - I opted for returning back along the coastal route again (always the best choice in good weather, I reckon).

Found after our three day hike from Tidal Creek, to Refuge Cove, (via Sealers Cove) and Little Waterloo Bay. Such beautiful coastline. TFTC.
This is one of my favourite spots at the Prom. Nice and quite and usually no one else around, except today. So while I was waiting for the muggles to move on, the tide and conditions were just right, so had a snorkel around the end of the bay. The muggles moved back up the beach and I was able to grab the cache and have my lunch. 4 of 12 for the day.

My father, Wolfgang, has a 'bucket list' which included visiting all 4 major points of the Australian mainland (North, East, South and West). He completed the N,W,E previously, only South to go. So plans for a bushwalk were developed which also included my younger son Jeremy.
We camped Tuesday night at Roaring Meg, and completed the trip out to South Point this morning, then walked back to Oberon Bay to camp out, before returning to Tidal River on Thursday. After setting up camp I headed down to the beach on a clear, sunny Wednesday afternoon to find this cache. A quick and easy find, with a mysterious plaque nearby that seems to be from a Russian youth camp expedition.
I'd not been bushwalking at Wilsons Prom previously, and will definitely be back for more walking in future.
TNLNSL, thanks for the cache TeamOaky!
best wishes,
Wal

Couldn't imagine a more worthy cacher being first finder. Well done! Geoff
And thank you for taking the time to write such a great log. It's logs like these that makes us feel like it is worth the effort of placing and maintaining caches.
I could tell you quite a shocking story that happened to a good friend very recently at the Prom. And the benefits of a walking companion, but it would most likely give you nightmares and Pam wouldn't let you go caching alone again
Once again thx

I have been watching this cache for a little while. I quite like trying to get FTFs on semi remote caches which are a challenge but not requiring overnight camps. I like my own bed, shower and toilet.
I had snared a FTF on another nearby Prom cache several years earlier which was a couple of kms less walking than this one, so I thought I would try and add this one to my collection.
I wanted to come down here today as the weather looked good, but there was rain forecast for the next few days. Pam couldn’t come as she was attending a funeral, and my brother in law had a job interview. I decided to go alone which is probably not a great idea, but what the heck.
I left home at 7:30am and visited two unfound May dashpoints at Hallam and Drouin, and another cache, on the way down to the Prom.
I set off on the walk just after noon. This was probably the best walking day I’ve ever had down here. The temperature was between 19 and 23 during the day, just a zephyr wafting around, and the sun was not too bright. Just perfect for walking.
The scenery was picture perfect as usual down here, I love this place, and there were very few people around.
The repairs to the track were pretty good for the most part, especially the two little bridges just where you descend into Little Oberon Bay.
Growlers Creek was running pretty well but I did find a spot where I could cross without getting my feet wet, although I had brought a small towel to cope with that eventuality.
Eventually I reached the end of the beach at Oberon Bay and ascended the rocks to the cache location my GPS indicated. I found it right at the zero point.
I carefully opened the fantastic little high quality container and opened the log book. It was bare! Whoopee!
I signed the log and retrieved the pristine looking geocoin to move it along, then I just sat around for about 30 mins soaking up the ambience of the place, having the fruit and nuts I bought at the Tidal River shop, and taking photos.
The time came to leave so I bade the cache goodbye, and returned the way I had come.
I got back to my car opposite the park headquarters just after 4pm, with my cache odometer showing 17.3km.
Thanks TeamOaky for a fabulous cache, which I will definitely give favourite pont.
