Next stop on my walk around the area, and yep, found the cache under the log, not the rock area. Left it there as it easy to see...for a cacher looking, not a muggle. Great views, so worth the short detour from the main trail. Thanks for this one xambo4u....cache all good.
Looks like it moved and is now under a log, still one step down. Will not move it as it is sheltered and easy to find.
Finally found this one! I struggled to look last time with so many people, but now in the rain it was easy! Tftc
I adventured around the George Circuit Walk with a handful of cub scouts today. The Gorge was glorious and the weather was on fine form. Werribee Gorge is chock-a-block with interesting and challenging caches, but walking with cub scouts provides few opportunities to go cache hunting off-track.This one was fortunately within reach during a rest break, and it wasn't very hard to find. I would go so far as to say that this is the *least* camoflaged cache I have ever encountered. Haha.
As I made my way along the nearby track, I made the turn-off and began approaching the nearby viewpoint. I was alone when I arrived, which was fortunate but also surprised me considering how many muggles there were in the carpark when I arrived. While at the viewpoint, I grabbed out my phone to check the caches coordinates, but in that time, another muggle came along and took a seat nearby, very close to the cache. Fortunately for me, he vacated the area fairly quickly and I could resume searching.I followed roughly where I thought the hint was implying and my GPS was pointing. It was then I spotted the cache, out in the open. I hopped down to grab it and signed the logbook. I had a feeling the cache wasnt meant to be as exposed as it was when I found it, so I placed it back very close to where I expected it should have been, and with a bit more cover. Cache and contents were all in good condition.TFTC
Found while hiking with some new friends, one who I used to work with. This was her first time finding a cache and she beat me to it! It was definitely a good one to start on. TFTC
On a multi caching mission today so before meeting geobuddies at a nearby CITO, I headed to the gorge area to enjoy a bit of fresh air at nature which was totally fabulous! TFTC and the FUN!
Without the photo hint this would have been a DNF.
But while cruising around the spot on the photo I spied the big box after a longer search.
Thanks for the cache & greetings from Switzerland

After having a bit of a climb around looking for this one, there seemed to be a never ending stream of people coming to enjoy the views. I will have to come back another day.
Found it! I’ve always wanted to walk in Werribee Gorge and today the Walkabouters had a bush walk along the short circuit walking track. With a few caches on offer I was hoping to find all of them along the track but when you’re walking with a group it’s hard to spend as much time as needed to find the trickier ones! We made it up the steep hill and while the others enjoyed the view I hunted for the cache. I was about to give and then I spotted the prize! TFTC SL. I’ve added a photo of the nearby tree. Cache is in great condition! Loved the views too!
What a fantastic area for a geocache. Absolutely beautiful full view point. And a nice little climb down to the prize.
Thanks guys TFTC

After scrambling around abit looking at the clues and the photos and the GPS I was still perplexed and almost defeated - I sat down to recalibrate and to read a few logs. Big thankyou to the CO for her added log as I was finally able to look for something tangible I soon had the cache in hand and signed. I sat down above to enjoy the veiw and had a chat with muggle Geoff who came along for the veiw. Fav point for location.
First one to find it in 2023 and my first find in 2023 too. Nice big cache, definitely need the clue and picture though. Tftc!
Haha, this one was a little tricky but luckily SPHadlow went left and we found it. TFTC
Took us a bit. Once we had cache in hand and signed we stopped to enjoy a bite to eat and the view!

What a lovely view across the hills. Sun was in a perfect spot to be able to take a picture. Walking to an Event further down the track, great excuse to find and log some caches.
I just had to find this cache as the CO is a chum. The three of us scrambled around for quite a while before the cache was located. Glad we found it as I was starting to come under pressure to PAF, the friend being the CO. It was not as easy as we thought it would be to find, but we got there in the end.
i like caching out in the middle of nowhere
partly for the scenery
partly for the chance to stretch the legs
and partly for the quiet and the desolation and the opportunity to search for treasure without the eager eagle eyes of passers-by
but here there was no opportunity to rummage through the rocky rubble undisturbed
it would have been easier to find a nano under the clocks of flinders street station at rush hour without detection
than to find this one
but
the motto of the patient geocacher is:
wait, wait, wait
wait for a clear day
wait for a gap in the traffic
wait until everybody else’s backs are turned
and then
strike

After doing the walk in this lovely gorge I realize how frustrating it is with co ords. I have now put replaced the hide in a spilt of 2 large rocks and it is a large red tin. Please replace with coverage. You need to step down a little to retrieve the hide. Good luck
Number 13 - WINDY AS!!!! OMG!!! Track was closed but we snuck up to find this one. Hard to place photo but finally managed to pinpoint the location. I found it just as we were thinking of giving it up as it had had a few DNF's. Success and such a fabulous view. TFTC
What a view and just a little Gail force wind, but after much debate on which tree the photo was taken, we nearly abandoned our search, but then success jaamc3335 had it in her hot little hand, what a find thanks
Out with BogongHazy for a great afternoon's caching.
We spent over half an hour here with no luck. Even the photo and the fact that BH had already found it didn't help.
Thanks anyway xambo4u, amazing views here

Feels bad... Just too many hidey holes, we couldn't track it down. Thanks for bringing us to this amazing view though!
We gave this one two 10 minute attempts, but neither yielded the result. Needed more time and less people around to really be thorough. Ah well, next time.
We’ve had a lovely little four day holiday in West Melbourne, finding caches and visiting as many vegan restaurants as we possibly can. The whole trip was planned because we’ve never been to Werribee Gorge or Lerderderg and they both looked like they offered fun bushwalking with plenty of caching opportunities.
Tricky crack hide, previous logs and a bit of persistence helped enormously in locating this one! TFTC

We've decided on the short circuit today but we thought we would side track to this one. No joy for us today though.
Oh wow! That took us ages! There was no way we were going to give up. All worth the walk and to complete a challenge. Lots of reading will guide you. Thanks for a great hide and view
Very well hidden cache in an area with lots of potential hides holes. Required a PAF to come up with the goods - but got lots of caches to get today so need to press on. Stunning views. Tftc
Been on this walk before but never came to this look out. Thanks to this cache I now have. Awesome geo hide as well was so relieved when I found it as was about to give up. I would say it more2.5 meters then 4 feet from the picture. TFTC!
TFTC - out on a perfect day for a walk, our aim this visit is to collect caches along the circuit walk. Great view from this location.
I'm sure it's out there. But I've taken too long on this one.. I'll give it another shot another day
What do you mean it is under the rock? I think at this point I was feeling a little delirious and wondering if I had made the wrong decision to do the circuit. Went to the coords searches checked the hint searched. Sat in the shade to cool before searching some more. Finally decided to systematically go over the area before moving on and there it was. Somewhere between where the coords said it was and where I though it may be based on hint. But certainly closer to coords. Nice hide and gorgeous location
Thanks xambo4u for the cache.

After a nice couple of days in Ballarat the geowife and I decided we should stop and do some caching on he way home. Geowife picked the spot and off we went. Planning only to do about 2 hours of caching we finally emerged back at the top car park 5 and a half hours later. It was such a fantastic day and the gorge was absolutely beautiful we thought why not just keep going and in enjoy it. TFTC
After a little bit of looking around Geowife found it

Today I headed out with the geokids to tackle some more of this trail. I dragged along some newbie cachers today too which was awesome. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed our stroll part way in before turning around and heading back out. Such stunning views! Some fabulous caches too! We looked everywhere and gave up. Came back on the return trip and sort out help with a PAF. Soooo many hidey holes and I swear we checked them all multiple times but finally we found it! Yah. Many thanks for the cache.
Rest of the hiking team caught me up here and took a breather while I climbed over the rocks to look for this hide. Finally worked the clue correctly. And Oh, great views looking east. CIGC TNLN TFTC 2.40pm
The cub have stopped at the Eastern Lookout for lunch so I jumped down and grabbed this one a nice little container. TFTC
Our last one for the day and another great view.
A bit of searching but Crackers found it on the right angle.

Despite (or because of) many years of geology studies, I don’t trust that rocks stay put when there is so much scree underfoot. Nevertheless there I was climbing about anticipating this sweet find. Loved it. Found quicker than I expected- great rest spot. Tftc
Lots of traffic. Looked for a while without luck.
Maybe another time.
Thanks anyway xambo4u.
Chiefton!!!

Needed to stretch the legs so Werribee Gorge was a good option with 17 caches all turned into smileys.
Arrived at GZ and to find some fellow cachers searching for the hide, so with a quick introduction the search continued back and forth, up and down until the call of "Found it" from John.Cryuff. A sigh of relief.
Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache xambo4u

Lovely Saturday so brought my wife here to do the circuit walk. Only attempted this one as we were running a bit late. Searched for 15 minutes with no luck. Ausfox turned up and we joined forces after. Within 10 minutes, we located the cache.
TNLN.
The hint is slightly misleading in terms of the distance. So maybe just ignore it and go with your senses !

While out on mini adventure in the company of McLookers we stopped in to find this cache, we struggled on this one longer than we would like to admit, but we got there in the end, some of the previous logs helped.
Thanks xambo4u for the cache.
Thanks xambo4u for the cache.
With The Tritonz, we spent a long time looking today. As others have said, the tree in the photo is no longer in the same format. Eventually, once on the correct level, The Tritonz spotted the well hidden cache. Great spot, great views, thanks xambo4u.
Half of our team is home-based due to work commitments, the other half is lucky enough to be in Alice Springs, in the company of Indiana08. Therefore, for a couple of weeks, our team will be attending some events and possibly finding the odd cache in different states.
S came here in the company of 08151605. We enjoyed the views from up here, and then the search began. What an elusive hide this had been! We went in circles, widened the search area, turned over a lot of rocks - probably for about 20 or 30 minutes. I could hardly believe it when 08151605 announced: "Here it is!" Oh, what a relief - no DNF after all!
Thanks for bringing us here, it's an amazing view.

Accidentally came up the wrong route but glad we did! What a view! Took Misty The Maine Coon Cat trackable and left a gingerbread man eraser.
A great start to our walk. This cache took a little hunting but still a quick find. I dropped off a TB that I have held for way too long.

After leaving the gang which consisted of McLookers, The Tritonz, Gmj3191, Leafotwind at the multicache Lionhead Beach I then continued further into Werribee gorge and continued on the loop back to the car.
It was certainly a great walk around the area with lots to see and explore.
I had been at the western point earlier on now it was time to visit the Eastern point.
Wow, this one certainly took a long time to find, after having a look around and not finding it, I then had a read, I had a bit more of a look and was almost going to give up when I spotted what I was looking for, the log was signed and I was on my way.
**Thanks to xambo4u for placing this cache.**

Ready for a big day at Werribee Gorge. Returned to have a second attempt at this cache and Found it fairly quickly. It always amazes me that this happens. #1 for the day. TFTC.
Found it by replicating another photo in the Activity! The tree in the owners photo looks a bit different now so don't get hung up on it.

spent an hour here and just could not get the geo vibe. had lunch here and enjoyed the views. will return another day.
During an enjoyable outing with PacGirl doing a circuit of the Werribee Gorge we took some breaks along the way so that I could find a few caches.
After a DNF here more than 3 years ago fortunately it was an easy find today.
Thanks, xambo4u!

Arrived at this magnificent lookout and spent time on a perfect Sunday morning to soak in the sights. Muggle traffic was heavy today but managed to search between traffic. Finding this cache took awhile, a good 30 minutes. In the end, some previous logs helped narrow down the search area. I found it by staying near the sign and looking below. SL & replaced. TFTC xambo4u
Woohoo got it! Tricky hidey hole. The tree doesn't quite look like the picture but still not too hard. awesome view
A full day of hiking and caching with Team Justice. This was our 21st find for the day, and the words that come to mind are "cruel and unusual". 25 minute search, what a tricky hide! Very satisfying to finally find it, and we went to great pains to replace it exactly where we found it. Good luck! TFTC.
A hike with half of Clint&Abby. We got to the cache location easy and then began the search. Oh what a search....we looked and looked. We read the hint, looked at the picture, looked again, read logs, spread the search wider and wider, started again, looked and looked...oh...why, where was this cache.
Finally Clint said, "Ah got it!" and with joy we signed the log. Don't go too far from the sign and look in the rocks is all I'll say. It took about 20+ minutes but we finally got it. I must say love Ammo box caches...(this wasn't one of them!) TFTC. Cache in good order.

Having completed the Werribee Gorge series on the other side of Ingleston Rd and thoroughly enjoying them, I've had my eye on the large number of caches in this section for a while. Today I planned to head out and tackle the circuit walk and some of the higher terrain caches but not long after arriving a phone call from work intervened cutting my visit short. So I had to change plans and aim for the short circuit walk instead. This was certainly good exercise with plenty of steep uphill sections through beautiful scenery. Lots of wildlife around as well with plenty of birdlife and some inquisitive wallabies.
Beautiful view from this vantage point and I took the time to soak it in after finding the cache while having a snack here before moving on. Thanks for the cache xambo4u.
