A day off work and what else is there to do.... yep, go caching in an area I've never really gotten into and to do some site seeing on the way around
Ok so this is a little embarrassing.
looks like I had an old GPX on the GPS.
My aim was this series and while I did manage to find most of them it was not until tonight when I got to logging the days finds that I realised that they had been archived. Oh well it was a fun and long day in the bush, with a lot of archived finds.

Day out caching with kazzacosmo, didn't realise there was a walking track through here, we met BPJT Hillas who pulled up and asked if we found it yet and had a chat about geocaching of course. Tftc
Quick find today with FerociousFlea.

Looking at my stats after finally getting a smiley on that pesky day of the year, I dithered over which challenges to concentrate on next, and realized a bunch of hidden months from the early days were covered by hides not too far out of Ballarat. In Victoria, I can potentially tick off twelve of the twenty blank months in the chart, and nine of those are within striking distance... I think we have a winner.
One of the aforementioned caches is in the Enfield State Forest, which gave me the opportunity to pick up a few bonus caches on the way.
Thanks, sully1, for thanking BPJT Hillas.

Lucky we are in our trusty reliable 4x4! Almost got bogged on our way to this one! Lol! Tftc and all the fun we are having! Best Mother's Day ever!!!
I have enjoyed finding many of BPJT Hillas' caches and have met them only once under some wooden structure. Like minds think alike - guess what we were doing.

Found our way round to this one and hiked about 220 meters to GZ. Thanks for the cache.
I was randomly driving around the forest today and found me a nice 'smooth' track along the power lines to follw towards this cache
From abeam I could see that I had gone the wrong way !!
A bit of a backtrack and another good forest trail got me to a spot a lot closer
So off I went on foot for the last couple 'o' hundred metres to GZ
And after a bit of geo-shuffling, found me a cache in an obvious place

Not as difficult as I had expected it to be. Bush in good condition seeing it has not rained for a long time. Heath was in full bloom and some wild flowers were making their appearance after the dry.
Ok deciding this must be as close as we can get. Rain jacket on and into the scratches for 200m... Bugger get half way there and come across a road! Locate the cache quick now it's getting dark good thing my car is white!
By the time we arrived here the sun had just set with the beautiful orange of the fading sunset visible through the trees! It made it very hard to find this little bugger!
Found with highrod & S 4 Sammy while on a drive through the forest in search of a few caches

This was one of over 110 caches I found during a huge day and night of caching with my fellow cachers Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and Blacklegend (The Demolition Crew). As we all had the day free we carefully planned in advance the run and decided to call it Ballarat Smackdown II. The plan was ambitious and resulted in almost 22 hours of continual caching.
The day started in the early hours of the morning in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne, then moving through the northern suburbs then onto and along the Western Freeway to Enfield State Forest then north up to Ballarat itself. We cached through Melton, Pykes Reservoir and Bacchus Marsh and many of the country roads north and south of the Western Freeway as we made our way west.
We had a fantastic day finding all the different types of caches and there were some quite inventive, very tricky and well constructed hides that we found. I thank all the cache owners for the time and effort they have spent in placing all the caches we found today.
I found making our way through the Enfield State Forest to be the highlight of the day and my Prado handled it very nicely. We couldn't believe it when some more caches were published in here the next day so we immediately began planning our next Ballarat Smackdown trip.

Another legendary cache run by The Demolition Crew (myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts). We have dubbed it Ballarat Smackdown II. This was a huge run taking us all the way from near Cardinia, via the northern suburbs of Melbourne, to Bacchus Marsh and Melton and finally Ballarat. A massive loop, and over 100 caches for the run. The company was as always fantastic, a lot of laughs, good dinner, and great caches. Many thanks to all the CO's for the hides, without them we wouldn't have been able to find anything.
Another cache found in this beautiful part of the world. TFTC.

This was, cache # 86 of 117 finds for the day in the company of The Demolition Crew. we had a quick find as we enjoyed our drive trough this area. My thanks to sully1 for the cache.
This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.
While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..
The Day's Blurb...
The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.
The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.
Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.
It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

I was enjoying the drive around this area on mostly reasonable tracks. Found this one easily and wondered about another one.........
When we saw this cache series pop up we were thrilled. It is such a nice way to recognise those that contribute to this great game.
Rememberence Day was such nice weather this year that we thought we would go and find 9 of the series.
We have enjoyed finding lots of BPJTHillas's caches, and also meeting them at events and cache runs.
Thanks again sully1.

Great drive through the bush. Shame about the rubbish left around the cache site. Hope it wasn't fellow geo caches responsible.
I think I was lucky to spot this. The 35mm cache container is almost a thing of the past. I guess it's been replaced by the mint tin. At least the mint tin lends itself to being magnetic.
Thanks for bringing me here.

come across the power line track and then decided to then walk in to GZ only to find a track not far from cache TFTC
Found while out and about in the rain and wind before heading to work tonight. Trying to dodge the rain drops isn't working. Found a track that took me to GZ after trying from another direction. Thanks sully1 for the cache.

Nice little hide. Thanks for the series and the chance to get out and about and explore more of the state.
The ageing Bushfire and the suscoe team decided to visit the Enfield Forest and look for all the "Thanks to caches" and others that have been placed in this lovely area.
The suscoe team worked out the route and planned our method of attack and all Bushfire did was to provide the wheels.
This was our 7th cache for the day and a little searching had another one in the bag. Thanks sully1.

Found on our afternoon Enfield run. This one was a little sneaky. Thanks to sully 1 for the placement of this cache and also to BPJT Hillas for your contribution to geocaching.
Gotcha this time! Thanks to BPJTHillias for your contribution to caching and to sully1 for her effort placing this series.
Well, thats more like it, back for a second try at this one and we had better results.
Thanks sully1

I came down here with featherdown this morning to find the caches in this series. You have obviously given a lot of thought to your hides and the variety of cache hides today kept us on our toes. It is a long time since I have been into the Enfield Forest and during our time here we did not see another car until we exited the park near Scarsdale. We did not unfortunately have time for flyjabirus cache today as it was a tad off route.
Overall we had a great time, gathered in 15 caches and headed back to Ballarat for lunch before the weather changed for the worse.
Thanks for these sully1

Found by Mary & David at 1800. Our last for the day and the last for this holiday. The mixed growth bush here reminded us of the Hillas team - tall and short. Lucky to find this as the last light faded. Our GZ indication kept brining us back to a particular spot, but we only found the cache after the fourth time we checked. Very sneaky! Our thanks to sully1.
Found some likely spots but had no tools to retrieve anything, so will come back another day & finish what we missed today.
With a few likely spots to look, we checked and poked around a bit without any luck.
We'll be back...
Thanks Sully1

Had a lot of trouble here too, and after tentatively sticking my hand in places I shouldn't, I shouted out to my chauffeur of the day, who just happened to be the CO, for a bit of a chop out.
She confirmed it's location, and it was with a fair bit of difficulty that this hide was extracted.
I re-placed it a little more exposed to make it easier for the next finders.
Congrats BPJTHIllas for your inclusion in the series, and your contribution in this game, a worthy recipient. And thanks again to Sully1 for these tributes, and some deviously clever hides.

This was the reason we headed out today. We wanted to make this find. When we got to GZ had loads of trouble with the find. Read the previous log with it saying it was pushed up too high. It certainly was and took tools to retrieve. Thanks for hiding this cache for us. We think that the whole series is a lovely idea and appreciate the thought. We have added a favourite point to this cache.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
