A day off work and what else is there to do.... yep, go caching in an area I've never really gotten into and to do some site seeing on the way around
Ok so this is a little embarrassing.
looks like I had an old GPX on the GPS.
My aim was this series and while I did manage to find most of them it was not until tonight when I got to logging the days finds that I realised that they had been archived. Oh well it was a fun and long day in the bush, with a lot of archived finds.

Kenare gave a shout out to see if I wanted to go caching... silly question really but off we went into the bush. She had previously found this one but I hadn't do a nice quick one for my first for the day. Tftc and bringing me here
Found this poor lonely guy out in the open. Replaced it in a nearby hiding hole after singing the log.TFTC
Caching this afternoon with the whole family (hubby and geokids). I still have a heap of caches I need in Enfield State Forest so tried to make a dint in a few. A quick find here which was nice - onto the next! Many thanks
Decided a nice drive through the Enfield State forest would be just the perfect thing for this afternoon which put some of the "thanks series" in our path. This was the 4th of 4 caches of the series that we found. Quick and easy to get to, a fast find.

What a good day to go 4wding with a 2wd..... Got to look at the maps a bit better before a chose a route! Was a good one to find.
Such a lovely day to try for some smiles, we decided to try for a few on our way home from geokid's soccer game, This is such a beautiful area, thanks for bringing us here for enjoy the area, have a picnic and lovely walk, only muggles we saw were a couple of motorbikers we passed but they were too busy towing one of the bikes as it had smoke coming out of its engine, so they soon disappeared, and we could continue to celebrate with some of the caching greats. TFTC
Geokid swapped a roller texta for the chick snow dome. She also loved the massive puddles we drove through on our way here! Lol! Thanks for the cache and the fun!
Haven't had the honour of meeting 64EH but have met up with this cache placed in his name.
I have only a few more in the series to collect and hope to soon.

Last find of the day on our way home from the Dereel Market. Nearly every road we tried to go down had a road closed sign on it from nearby burnoffs by DEPI, but we managed to find our way to this hide without breaking any road rules. A quick find and sign before moving on. There was a distinct grey haze from the smoke in the area, but it was safe enough for our quick visit. Thanks for the hide Sully1.
This was my first drive-by cache today on a tour of the Enfield State Park and surrounds by geomobile and foot

Did a lot of cross country to get to this one today. Very glad to get started. Or first time in the Enfield Forest. Thanks for the hide.
Another nice quick find. Someone had left 2real chocolate easter eggs so took them out and gave them to my dog. Left a pen in place. Thanks
Found a skull near GZ. I think it may have been a possums head.
Signed log, left an easter snow globe in cache.

This was one of over 110 caches I found during a huge day and night of caching with my fellow cachers Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and Blacklegend (The Demolition Crew). As we all had the day free we carefully planned in advance the run and decided to call it Ballarat Smackdown II. The plan was ambitious and resulted in almost 22 hours of continual caching.
The day started in the early hours of the morning in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne, then moving through the northern suburbs then onto and along the Western Freeway to Enfield State Forest then north up to Ballarat itself. We cached through Melton, Pykes Reservoir and Bacchus Marsh and many of the country roads north and south of the Western Freeway as we made our way west.
We had a fantastic day finding all the different types of caches and there were some quite inventive, very tricky and well constructed hides that we found. I thank all the cache owners for the time and effort they have spent in placing all the caches we found today.
I found making our way through the Enfield State Forest to be the highlight of the day and my Prado handled it very nicely. We couldn't believe it when some more caches were published in here the next day so we immediately began planning our next Ballarat Smackdown trip.

Another legendary cache run by The Demolition Crew (myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts). We have dubbed it Ballarat Smackdown II. This was a huge run taking us all the way from near Cardinia, via the northern suburbs of Melbourne, to Bacchus Marsh and Melton and finally Ballarat. A massive loop, and over 100 caches for the run. The company was as always fantastic, a lot of laughs, good dinner, and great caches. Many thanks to all the CO's for the hides, without them we wouldn't have been able to find anything.
Still caching. I know I have done many caches by people mentioned in this series.... Hard remembering specific ones though. TFTC.

This was, cache # 87 of 117 finds for the day in the company of The Demolition Crew. we had a quick find as we enjoyed our drive trough this area. My thanks to sully1 for the cache.
This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.
While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..
The Day's Blurb...
The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.
The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.
Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.
It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

I had seen from the satellite image that there were a lot of tracks in this area. There were no fewer on the ground! Cache found easily.
When we saw this cache series pop up we were thrilled. It is such a nice way to recognise those that contribute to this great game.
Rememberence Day was such nice weather this year that we thought we would go and find 9 of the series.
64EH has hosted a few fantastic events over the last few years and also has some really cool geocache finds.
Thanks again sully1

Last of the "Thanks to" series for me today. Great effort Sully. I think there's a couple I've still to do. Perhaps a bit more advance planning I might have got them all. But then I wouldn't have any for next time.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Find number 20 of 31 GC.com caches for the day. Tried to bush bash our way to this one but that didn't work. It took us ages to find the 'right' way into the park. Thanks for the cache, and the series sully1.

Another quick find. Thankfully the weather held off, so we were able to really enjoy our drive around this forest. We were also glad we weren't doing these in summer! Thanks again Sully1.
The ageing Bushfire and the suscoe team decided to visit the Enfield Forest and look for all the "Thanks to caches" and others that have been placed in this lovely area.
The suscoe team worked out the route and planned our method of attack and all Bushfire did was to provide the wheels.
This was our 6th cache for the day and good to see a variety of sizes out in the bush. My dad and brother both owned EH cars a long time ago.
Thanks sully1 for this cache.
Grabbed the traveller.

Found on our afternoon Enfield run. Thanks to sully 1 for the placement of this cache and also to 64EH for your contribution to geocaching.
I came down here with featherdown this morning to find the caches in this series. You have obviously given a lot of thought to your hides and the variety of cache hides today kept us on our toes. It is a long time since I have been into the Enfield Forest and during our time here we did not see another car until we exited the park near Scarsdale. We did not unfortunately have time for flyjabirus cache today as it was a tad off route.
Overall we had a great time, gathered in 15 caches and headed back to Ballarat for lunch before the weather changed for the worse.
Thanks for these sully1

Found by Mary & David at 1730. David briefly owned an EH in around 1968 - his second car after a '57 FE. Since then, there have been two Monaro GTSs ( an HK 327 and an HQ 350, which would be worth a small fortune now), an HZ Premier and now the VT Calais. We did see 64EH's treasured example and admired the work that has gone into it. Our thanks to sully1.
The last one for toay on our day in the forest.
Will be back another day to clean up what we missed
Thanks Sully1
