Looking at my stats after finally getting a smiley on that pesky day of the year, I dithered over which challenges to concentrate on next, and realized a bunch of hidden months from the early days were covered by hides not too far out of Ballarat. In Victoria, I can potentially tick off twelve of the twenty blank months in the chart, and nine of those are within striking distance... I think we have a winner.

One of the aforementioned caches is in the Enfield State Forest, which gave me the opportunity to pick up a few bonus caches on the way.

Thanks, sully1, for thanking White Jaeger.

I was getting a lil bit bored at home when my brother came around and suggested we go for a drive. We started heading this way when I began wondering if I could grab this cache whilst over here. After a lil detour and a quick search the (very wet) log was signed and replaced. Tftc and the series. This is my last for the series unless the flyjabiru cache comes back

Needed to get the last 2 "Thanks to..." series missed when here last time. As we were very new to caching this one actually alluded us, but now with nearly 2000 more finds behind us, it was so much easier. Experience does help!
Thanks for the series sully1, its a great tribute to the Ballarat cachers.

This one had me walking around in circles for a good while. Thank goodness for the logs Smile

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?
If you guessed this one is not like the others,
Then you're absolutely...right!

In a non-descript place,
I looked for a cache.
None to bee seen,
Was I too keen ?
How on Earth would I avoid egg on me face ? Red Face

I kept a lookout,
For a cache hereabout.
And after a while,
On me dial a smile.
I did spy the odd one out Big Grin

TFTC, great bit of camo !!
But obvious if you think about it Wink

Like a number of caches we have found placed by White Jaegar, this was another very clever cammo.
Many thanks to the CO for this series of game pieces strategically placed in the Enfield State Forest. Over the years we have had the pleasure of finding many caches placed by the members of the local Ballarat caching community. It is terrific to see them acknowledged as even more teams join this fascinating and ever changing activity.

TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt sully1.

Todays 3rd find with LionJRB. After taking the ute down some tracks we shouldnt have in the wet we decided to do a bit of a backtrack to the main road. LionJRB soon enough said LEFT!!! And left we went up another lovely muddy road. We decided against driving up to the GZ as the track looked a bit soft and I had no recovery gear with me. So we walked the last 100m to the cache. After spying something out of place in Eucalyptus forest the cache was found, signed and hidden again. TFTC Sully1

I get the feeling that you really enjoyed placing these caches Sully1 and I was very impressed with the variety of hides.
Unfortunately it was getting close to the end of the day and Tag-along was soon to be home. I had to abort the last few finds but will be back to complete the series soon.
It is a nice tribute to the people who give back to the game so that we can all continue to enjoy it.

Not too sure who this is but I do meet the name in my travels. The hide may need some TLC as the 'lid' is a little smaller originally. Nice hide here.

I almost missed this cheeky little hide while nightcaching with shamus1. This was our last find for the day. We've had a great day and a great adventure lost in the forest, our Thanks to Sully1 Wink

07-Jan-13
This was one of over 110 caches I found during a huge day and night of caching with my fellow cachers Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and Blacklegend (The Demolition Crew). As we all had the day free we carefully planned in advance the run and decided to call it Ballarat Smackdown II. The plan was ambitious and resulted in almost 22 hours of continual caching.

The day started in the early hours of the morning in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne, then moving through the northern suburbs then onto and along the Western Freeway to Enfield State Forest then north up to Ballarat itself. We cached through Melton, Pykes Reservoir and Bacchus Marsh and many of the country roads north and south of the Western Freeway as we made our way west.

We had a fantastic day finding all the different types of caches and there were some quite inventive, very tricky and well constructed hides that we found. I thank all the cache owners for the time and effort they have spent in placing all the caches we found today.

I found making our way through the Enfield State Forest to be the highlight of the day and my Prado handled it very nicely. We couldn't believe it when some more caches were published in here the next day so we immediately began planning our next Ballarat Smackdown trip.

07-Jan-13
Another legendary cache run by The Demolition Crew (myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts). We have dubbed it Ballarat Smackdown II. This was a huge run taking us all the way from near Cardinia, via the northern suburbs of Melbourne, to Bacchus Marsh and Melton and finally Ballarat. A massive loop, and over 100 caches for the run. The company was as always fantastic, a lot of laughs, good dinner, and great caches. Many thanks to all the CO's for the hides, without them we wouldn't have been able to find anything.

Still very much enjoying this area, top stuff and another nice cache. TFTC.

07-Jan-13
This was, cache # 64 of 117 finds for the day in the company of The Demolition Crew. we had a quick find as we enjoyed our drive trough this area. My thanks to sully1 for the cache.

07-Jan-13
This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.

While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..

The Day's Blurb...

The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.

The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.

Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.

It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

Walked in here from the main road, which was very pleasant. The lambs were running and jumping in the paddock as arrived at GZ. was a bit worried about how long this might take to spot. Happily I saw it straight away.

Thanks for bringing me here.

Thanks to White Jaegar, not sure what a Jaegar is but it might be their dog from their profile pic. Anyway I've found a lot of their caches but seems there's about 3 I haven't come across.

Thought I was going to need 4L as I drove down the track, plenty of mud and water to negotiate on the way to GZ. A nice hide for this cache, not too difficult as I had seen this cache container on a number of occasions previously. Thanks sully1 for the additional mud on the geoPatrol and the cache. I'm much happier without bitumen under the tyres.

11-Jul-12
Another nice hide! Thanks for this one.. again.

A pleasant if slightly muddy afternoon chasing down the 'thanks' to series. i'm always amazed a the maze of tracks everywhere in this area. TFTC.

The ageing Bushfire and the suscoe team decided to visit the Enfield Forest and look for all the "Thanks to caches" and others that have been placed in this lovely area.
The suscoe team worked out the route and planned our method of attack and all Bushfire did was to provide the wheels.
This was our 18th cache for the day and I thought the planning of this cache with a turning circle was a great idea. Good hide and quick find by us and we were on our way before it starts raining to hard.
Thanks again sully1.

Suscoe's 18th find on a day out in the bush with Bushfire!
This is a very nice little hide and a lovely area of bushland and farm land.
Well done to sully1 for a nice range of hides.
Signed and returned.

I have been feeling really sad the last few days but this cache cheered me up.
Thanks Sully1 it was a nice drive and cool hide.

I came down here with featherdown this morning to find the caches in this series. You have obviously given a lot of thought to your hides and the variety of cache hides today kept us on our toes. It is a long time since I have been into the Enfield Forest and during our time here we did not see another car until we exited the park near Scarsdale. We did not unfortunately have time for flyjabirus cache today as it was a tad off route.
Overall we had a great time, gathered in 15 caches and headed back to Ballarat for lunch before the weather changed for the worse.
Thanks for these sully1

12-May-12
A good hide but we soon cottoned on to how you had hidden it. Lots of interesting hides so far.
Thanks

This one took a while with the CO standing nearby laughing at my search.
Bugger, I'd checked there, but not well enough, cleverly hidden indeed.
Congrats to White Jaegar for your inclusion and your contribution to this game,

*FTF* Out on a unplanned cache run with º. When new cachers are published you never know where you might end up. This was only a short drive away from where we planned to start our night in Bentleigh. TFTC

This one made me feel really stupid - for a good reason!

( Found this on a very unplanned caching run with covert ... what started as "grabbing a few caches in Bentleigh" ended up as beating the demolition team to a lot of *FTF* 's )
