Paddle chick and I went for a walk around this part of Rabbit Island after the rain we had yesterday trying to dodge puddles and in some places the water was across the tracks .This was a nice easy find tftc SoBad
Looked all round the base but couldn't find it. Possibly it floated in a storm surge?
With shopping commitments out of the way and heaps of spare time The Seagnoid and I are off to check out burrows around Rabbit Island, on our trusty steeds Jack and Jill. So Lets GO!
The sand made the going very soft and slow along this stretch of track. Easy snag and tag at GZ. Cheers

A bit of a challenge to get in from the beach given the recent storm damage, but otherwise a quick find with TregearP. All in good order, signed log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache SoBad.
Cache was still in open but put a replacement log in and placed under natural camo so hopefully stays better hidden now, a nice walk with SJT_NZ
Found it, but it had been left open (photo). No log book. Tidied it up a bit and hid it again. Didn't have any paper so couldn't replace the missing log book.
Found with capperz, richardinho.nz and jojo74.
Earlier in the week capperz mentioned he was planning a trip to Nelson with richarinho.nz and joj74, and knowing I was home alone this weekend, asked if I wanted to tag along. Of course, I said yes and as gratitude for the invite, offered my wheels as transport. Everyone really knows that capperz' car is a gas guzzler and my fuel bill would probably be the same as a quarter share of his.
The plan of attack was to attend the Pirate Event in Blenheim, the head across the Hill and do a few caches around the airport before heading to the Nelson Pirate Event. Afterwards it was off to Rabbit Island to do the eastern end of that.
All up I got 30 caches today, which leaves me 15 off my 2000 milestone... woo hoo.
Depending on the space available logs were signed in full, or Cz, Rh, KM, and JJ or CRKJ. with Cz or C missing on those he had already found.
It was now time to complete the last part of the days plan, having successfully achieved the other parts with only one DNF. The final part of the plan was to cache out the eastern end of Rabbit Island but when we got there we were met with locked gates and signs warning of danger. Checking the Council website we were informed that the eastern end of Rabbit Island was going to be closed on the 29th of July, which intimated it was open otherwise. Throwing caution to the wind we decided to press on and having previously got two other caches on another part of the island this was the first on this part.
When reading the cache title I thought that this part of the island might be where gentlemen of an alternative persuasion might hang out, but reading the cache page it was obviously referring to something else. Not approaching from the beach, we did not see what was referenced in the cache title and am still ignorant of it. This cache reminded me of another that I found yesterday in a failed FTF chase called 'Wazza Tree'. You could say the feature at GZ Wazza Tree but now you would have to say Izza Stump.

Quick find on Saturday as the team mounted the bikes after lunch. TFTC SoBad.
Saturday was day one of a two day caching weekend in Nelson. Capperz has proposed the idea a few weeks back, and myself and Jojo signed in. Kiwimykl was also recruited and kindly supplied the transport, and a hit list of locations was compiled. For us it didn't really matter what we targeted as there is so much unchartered territory this side of the hill for us, but our collective aims were around the airport perimeter and the Nelson side of Rabbit Island with a few cycle-access favourite point hoovers in the middle. Just as well I had a few FPs in the bank. Before that though there was an event in Blenheim at a local cafe, then another for the same reason at the Honest Lawyer with the Nelson crew around lunch. All logs signed with variations on the theme of Jo, Ric, Km and Capperz, and thanks to all the COs, it was a great day

Well, so much for a day's trip around the bike-tracks picking up smileys! The entire area was closed due to bio-waste being sprayed so we enjoyed a long walk along the beach before ducking into the rough to claim this one. Much of the forest has been cleared and the tracks ploughed up by heavy trucks so the sandy beach was a delightful option on a sunny winter's day. TFTC - but couldn't make the link with its name...
Out walking with Anniebags on Rabbit Island. It was beautiful this morning. TFTC
Came down the beach to see if the sperm whale was still evident (stranded in the last few days of 2016, 3km down from the car park and 500m out from the high tide mark) but unfortunately the tide was only half way out.
2751 After tramping the Richmond range a rest day so a nice walk along the beach with muggle friends who were interested in how geocaching worked. The hint is shorter now but all good.
Easy peasy. Thank you. My find-rate is the half of the German one. So I'm glad, when there's an easy one. I' m from Bavaria.
While in the area, we strolled down to collect this one. Hint may need updating as tree is now a stump.
Nice cache signed the log and was off
Out on the island for a birthday party had a bit of time for a bike ride to
go and get some geocaches. Lovely day for it.
TFTC. Thanks SoBad for this nice cache.

My, my! This area sure has changed since I made my last foray along here to look for this cache around 18 months ago.
Back then I was unsure what 'Twink' is/was - being a relative new-comer to NZ - so having Googled the term, was somewhat surprised at what the CO was suggesting I might need to accompany me to the cache. I know of rumours of such activities in the area, but didn't feel that was in the CO's style, so opted to return alone, albeit with knowledge of the intended Twink.
So, whilst the features around the cache description might have gone the way of the logging operations, the feature at the GZ is about the only thing that remains and the area around that is somewhat hazardous now with branches aplenty at ground level..
Thankfully the last couple of (cache) logs helped me narrow down my search before I did myself a mischief searching in inappropriate areas.

This cache is still here, but I'm not sure how long it will last. There is a great deal of logging in the area and GZ is actually in an 'off limits' area. We found the GC, quite out in the open, and replaced it how we found it.
Quick easy find. Due to resent logging activitie the tree is now a stump. I believe the strip of land between the beach and the road is going to be cleared and replanted with native plants and trees. So this stump may disappear shortly (cache is now at chest hight in stump )

With a few hours to myself, I headed out to Rabbit Island for some exercise and caching. After a DNF on a nearby puzzle cache, I decided I had enough time before the gates shut to grab a couple more. This cache was the last one, followed by a brisk 2km walk back to the car. TFTC.

Coordinates a bit out - or my gps out- but an easy find with the help of the clue. Thanks for the play. Its been a great day on Rabbit Island.
Our first foray out to the badlands of east Rabbit Island. We weren't too sure what to expect with the tracks/roads and it wasn't as bad as anticipated. Some quite soft sand at the far end where we needed to push our bikes but mainly we were able to ride without too much hassle.
I should have read the cache description while at GZ as I had no idea what the cache title meant so missed out on the reason for the cache. StreetWalker had his interpretation, but he was quite wrong as it turned out.
Quick find for me while SW was investigating a bit further on (one of the few caches today that I found as he usually gets to GZ first). TFTC.

#9243. I managed to walk straight past the cache, and descended to what I thought was a more likely area. Luckily Troodles had a better look than I did. TFTC.
A caching trip to Nelson for the Seagnoid and I, G H 6 7 1 0 has a splitting........wood job to do for a friend so had to call off late yesterday. tS and I decided that caching Rabbit Island by bicycle, culminating in the event later in the day would be just the job. Due to a few big days this week I didn't get round to sorting out 2 M T Bs for us so I had to borrow one from work and t S had to use his road bike, skinny tyres and all.
A nice day weather wise with the sun shining proudly and nary a wisp of wind, almost perfect caching weather and after 6 hours cycling we'd found quite a few of Rabbit Island's caches, yay
I too like drawing........attention to typos, nice spot and a nice spot(for a cache)

[green] There is an event on at Rabbit Island, so Capperz and I thought this is a good opportunity to cache out the island. Couldn't quite do it, but got pretty close. Our start time got delayed as there was a hiccup with bicycles. I ended up having to use my road bike, skinny tyres and all. Wasn't a problem most of the way, but it sure was for some parts!
And this is the bit that was so hard. Some of this path was soft sand, Hard going for a mountain bike, really hard going on my road bike.
I see what you mean about needing twink!

Just catching up with some logs I didnt have (thnaks mum!). Loved this walk, cant wait to come back to the area
Thanks goodness I took a photo of this cache so now I know when we found it! yes Mrs Sobad you may give me a hard time for the late log
Well, it was a lovely afternoon walk on a sunny day, merrystinga walked part of it and jumped on her pram the rest of it. When we finished it was a bit too late to stop for a coffee so ended up having an early dinner snack at the Abbey on the way back home. integersmirk was happy with the craft beer selection. TFTC

Really wish we had brought the twink. Hate it when things are so obviously wrong. TNLN. TFTC.
Took us awhile looked everywhere and just as I called it quits (which happens a lot) I thought surely it can be there.... the area doesn't look disturbed. Sure enough there it was. TFTC
An after work trip to Rabbit Island with the bike for a bit of exercise and clean up of the east end of the island. Nice easy find. TFTC
Out for a walk and a cache with youngest daughter while the other three walked around Rough Island. Very windy but still a nice way to spend the evening. I wasn't sure what the twink would be for but I had a fair idea. Certainly something I would notice but didn't the last time I was down this way. Maybe that was before the mistook. A nice easy find at gz and then back tracked the way we had come
Thanks SoBad's for the cache.

Totally awesome day ! We started the day at Mapua Wharf were we met the lovely Capt Andrew who rented us mountain bikes and took us over to Rabbit on the ferry. We have been on the island for the last few days but walking we were getting nowherevery very fast. This wasnt the case today, we were on the island by 10:10 and this was one of the caches on our list. Wefound the cacheno trouble. Thanks for the bringing us to this great place.
Rabbit Island is such a great place, and thanks to all those who set up caches there so we can enjoy it all. http://www.geocaching.com/images/icons/icon_smile_cool.gif
Nice day for a wee bike ride around the coast and grab a few caches thanks SoBad

We biked over from Richmond today. Had been saving the trip up for the On Yer Bike cache and the Great Taste Trail and this one just happened to be in the area too. We then escaped the "East End" on a Saturday through many well suntanned males lurking in various bushes. Had a well earned swim and biked off home again.

My very first find And second try at it! Such a nice walk, great distance. Basically I got it at 12pm on 12th Dec 2012! I didnt take anything as I hadnt taken anything with me to leave, but i did sign the booklet and get much joy from this find - the clues now all make sense! Many thanks.
Went out for a nice walk before it got too warm today. Nice stroll, and an easy find at GZ. Cheers Gav
Stopped by as I cycled my way back from the eastern end of the island. Quick find. Thanks for the cache.
After walking down to "Lucky Dip" at the other end of the island we decided to get a bit more exercise down this end before going home. The feature is rather obvious once near GZ. First time I've been along this far but will return to do the other caches further on at some point. TFTC.
After a successful hunt at the other end of the island we got our twink bottle out and away we went. At GZ it was soon apparent that a paint bucket would have been a better option Always nice to have an excuse to visit Rabbit Island. Dropped TB 'Little Red' that was aroused from a long winter sleep at the West Coast. TFTC
On the way here from "Not a pine" I was contemplating that I no longer use twink as the computer usually does the checking and if need be I now use those roll on strips which do a much slicker job. However once I got there I could see that neither would do the job very efficiently. TFTC #3620
Despite the heavy rain warning, we jogged to this in sunshine. Worker had the cache while the gps was still counting down from a wee way off. It was about having a jog, so no observations were made. Now, reading the cache page and name, we will look next time passing. Thanks for the cache.
A beautiful day for a walk and after spending the morning studying Mrs B was keen to get away from the computer for a while! Jnrs loved the walk in, really enjoying climbing the "mountains" along the side of the track! We never saw anyone the whole time, except a few fresh horseprints! Jnrs quickly had the cache in hand and keen to keep going to the next one! TFTC - great to have one "about half way" on our walk!
Out for a morning bike ride before the rain sets in again. A quick & easy find.

Starting to wonder about all the caches down this end of the island!! Over the last few visits have seen more than i wish to see of some muggles! At least caching with Niteowlnz I have some defences and today they were not needed at all only muggles seen were walkers on the beach. GPS led us straight to the spot so a quick sign and off to return along the beach . A beautiful calm day today and i havent seen the tide so far out! TFTC and a nice walk to assist us on a Challange
Stretch0 set off on the walk with a little trepidation - but today we had this end of the beach to ourselves - had a lovely walk down along the track and soon had the cache in hand - took ourselves out to the beach and wandered along the unusally firm sand with the tide way way out today - enjoyed the walk very much on an afternoons caching - thanks for the cache
Nice One!!!!!!!!!!Great spot for a cache site; however, the ride down today was a bit the the Lone Ranger----- bump de bump, de bump, bump, bnump. Some tof the body parts will never be the same again. A tonne of fantails around GZ. Magic. Thanks
On a caching/biking expedition today. This was the first stop on the trail...well the second really, the first being when I made a very unscheduled stop by falling off my bike when the chain came off. Sidewaze said I made a very graceful landing. TFTC
Quick find while out caching and biking today. We were never allowed to use twink in my school days even if we made the odd mistake now and then. TFTC.
Must say I noticed this feature on the last sortie down here. - - I'm like that. - - - Usually. - - - Notice things that are not as they should be. Funny though. Because the other feature you mention still made sense - - - I didn't pick that it wasn't making the right kind of sense. Enjoyed the cache, thanks. Now, off on a mission to finish what we began out east.
day off today and we decided to do a few caches' was disappointed that there were no nudist today.
Arrived at GZ and had no trouble finding this one. Great walk and saw a Fantail (friendly little one)
Thank you for the cache and great walk. [^]
