After being offered a weekend caching to and from Ballarat with Tounga and Moneydork, how could I refuse[?]
Sushilord joined us too and for 3 days we laughed and cached and laughed and cached until we could cache no more. [|)]
As for the topics of conversation, apparently mirth, maniacal murder and mayhem were the common themes for the weekend along with a few other topics
My total for a great weekend was 1 event attended in Ballarat , 113 cache finds 7 DNFs and a FTF as I wound my way home, alone, in the early morning
Loved this area, almost like woods in suburbia
As Moneydork had a 4WD, no problems for us today getting here...although he wouldn't go through the ditch

Found on the weekend attack on Mexican caches by a couple of Kiwis and a couple of Aussies, surprisingly there were no slayings although we talked a lot about maniacal murders along the way.
I'd say part dead, part alive and trying to make up it's mind.
Thanks for the cache Shamus1.

Found on a fantastic weekend away with Moneydork (Hero Husband), Locus Cache and Sushilord. It was not a quiet trip but oh so worth it! Lots of caching, lots of laughter and finally some sleep thrown in when we just couldn't carry on!
Thanks for your cache and helping make our weekend so great.

Found with DoorMatt on a lovely (freezing) day of caching around Ballarat. This one was nicely hidden, TFTC
Thanks for the cache, cool cache. Found pretty easily today in the rain and wind. Thanks Shamus1.
We planned a big day out caching in Ballarat, leaving with a crew from Geelong and meeting up with fellow cachers in Ballarat - including the CO.
Having the CO with us here made for a quick find - and the convoy lined up while signing duties took place.
Thanks for placing this, Shamus1.

This was my fifteenth find on a trip to Ballarat on a windy and cold winter's day. In the early hours we convened in Geelong and set off up the highway - Na'wal, Roads75, ThePacman, DAB, The_Tritonz and I. With two vehicles in our little convoy, there were various stops along the way for a few caches here and there before we finally reached town.
And then the fun began. A few caches under our belts before it was time for a quick coffee stop and then it was off into the wind for more finds before lunch. We looked, we found, we calculated, some of us climbed and paddled for the communal cause. We were joined in some of our adventures by Wozzle68, ST37E and Shamus1 who were all keen to show us the sights and sounds - and of course, all the best caches in town !
With the CO in tow and the appropriate vehicles, this cache became a quick drive by which was soon located and the log signed as one of our number snapped a couple of pics of the impressive trees in the area.
Thanks Shamus1 !

Glad we had the 4wd today. That didn't worry the CO who followed us in his 2wd with no fear at all !! Grabbed this one after another cache close by. TFTC Shamus1
Found! Lucky its wasn't too wet in here as the trail of cars drove through without hassle. Cache was found quickly with the CO not far away.
Buckleysbabe, DAB, Pacman, the Tritonz and Roads75 and I planned a road trip from Geelong to Ballarat today to enjoy the sights as well as pick up some finds. We teamed up with some locals while here Wozzle68, ST37E and Shamus1. We all had a great day, lots of laughs and various amounts of hides were found Lucky for us the rain held off for most of the day until our last 2 finds.

Drove truck straight to GZ. Not sure if I could, but I saw tyre tracks, so wife's assumption was yes, go stupid. No spiders, today. Too hot for them. Tftc, tnln.26/01/2014 8:29 pm Find #586

Today I joined a group bike ride organised by LouiseAnn to tackle the caches on the Bike Trail between Ballarat and Smythesdale.
Other members of out party included -nirgal-, Quiet AU, Krazy Karl and Clickcraftman.
The weather was very good, a nice temperature for the 18km ride, and the breeze was on our backs.
There were not too many muggles and we had a terrific afternoon. As well as the bike path caches, a few others we encountered were found as well.
This was find # 1 of 46 finds for me for the day.
Having arrived at the start point a little early, I backtracked and found this cache with a nice new log book.
I left a pathtag. Then I returned to meet up with the others.
Thanks Shamus1.

En route to and around Ballarat to do a bit of exploring / caching. An interesting question....hmmm, I think its dead. Thanks Shamus1 for hiding this cache for me to find today.
After a brief wander among the old large pine trees and we were soon at GZ. Thanks for the cache.
GZ was spot on. We drove right up to it. We signed the log and headed home after school. Thanks for the hide.
Having a great time on holiday.

Found today in the company of flyingwalrus49 and duchess_of_cornwall. Can't believe these type of containers are so prevalent (they seriously are the bane of our geocaching existence) Thanks Shamus1 for the cache today!
Went off to find this one to kill time hoping that now I can go back and get "fun and games", there was too many muggles there earlier, if not ill go for a walk at night!
I signed log at the top of the sheet under the ftf spot because there is no more room left on the sheet, this one will need a new log asap.

Filling in time before the birthday event we had this one on our to do list
Not having a 4wd this trip and being a bit too hot for a walk we found ourselves a relatively close park and headed off to gz. As we approached the cache name made a lot more sense and we would lean towards alive, but only just. The cache itself was a nice easy find and after adding our name to the log we headed back to the cool of the car.
Thanks for the cache, we will return another day to grab the others.

This was one of over 110 caches I found during a huge day and night of caching with my fellow cachers Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and Blacklegend (The Demolition Crew). As we all had the day free we carefully planned in advance the run and decided to call it Ballarat Smackdown II. The plan was ambitious and resulted in almost 22 hours of continual caching.
The day started in the early hours of the morning in the far eastern suburbs of Melbourne, then moving through the northern suburbs then onto and along the Western Freeway to Enfield State Forest then north up to Ballarat itself. We cached through Melton, Pykes Reservoir and Bacchus Marsh and many of the country roads north and south of the Western Freeway as we made our way west.
We had a fantastic day finding all the different types of caches and there were some quite inventive, very tricky and well constructed hides that we found. I thank all the cache owners for the time and effort they have spent in placing all the caches we found today.

Another legendary cache run by The Demolition Crew (myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts). We have dubbed it Ballarat Smackdown II. This was a huge run taking us all the way from near Cardinia, via the northern suburbs of Melbourne, to Bacchus Marsh and Melton and finally Ballarat. A massive loop, and over 100 caches for the run. The company was as always fantastic, a lot of laughs, good dinner, and great caches. Many thanks to all the CO's for the hides, without them we wouldn't have been able to find anything.
Another quick find. We have to come back here for a certain tree climb.... TFTC.

This was, cache # 113 of 117 finds for the day in the company of The Demolition Crew. no trouble locating this one, does not bother me if they are dead or alive. My thanks to Shamus1 for the cache.
This cache was found by me today in the company of The Demolition Crew.
While I strive to make my logs personal to every cache, I have far too many logs to do, that I apologise in this instance for using a generic log. I thank you for the placement of this cache as it was one of many that made up a great day for me and the crew..
The Day's Blurb...
The annual holidays is always a great time to relax and take it easy, but not today. The Demolition Crew had decided that after such a long break from caching together that we would start the year off with a bang! So the planning minds were put into operation, and Ballarat Smackdown II was conceived.
The smackdown started along way from Ballarat, in fact in the hills around Cardinia Reservoir and from there is was a push across the northern suburbs of Melbourne through Melton & Bacchus Marsh. It being such a hot day, the waters of Pykes Creek Reservoir cooled and refreshed us, and we were soon off to start on the Ballarat caches.
Since our first Smackdown in the area, many new caches have popped up, so it was a fruitful run which ended well into the early morning. A couple of caches were replaced as a way of saying thanks to those who took the time to place them, and I think in the end my tally was well over 100 for the run.
It was a completely awesome day, and I thank you for placing the cache. We will return to the Ballarat area soon as there are still a number of caches we left undiscovered.

This was an interesting cache. The neighbourhood must be a bit rough due to all the nearby gang graffiti and the amount of random trash dumped everywhere, but most of all... a muscular pitbull or bull terrier type dog was wandering loose around GZ, unleashed and unattended and with no human in sight. I approached carefully and luckily this dog seemed unaggressive and trotted away.
Still, I signed the cache quickly and moved away as briskly as possible.

I Put way too much effort into finding this cache and all along it way right in front of me, now for a long drive back to Dandenong !!! Dropped a pathtag, log it if you want to keep it ))))
Sorry Shamus1 for the generic log but I'm trying to catch up on my logging, I currently have over 1000 to log before hitting some powertrails in the US after the block party next week. As always I enjoy the hunt whether I'm solo or with some of my caching or muggle friends. Thanks to those who have accompanied me to make the day more pleasurable and many thanks Shamus1 for placing this cache.
Ended up on the wrong side of the houses here, but after a drive around I soon where I wanted to be. After a short walk in, the cache was soon in hand.

Suscoe and Sister were out for a day's caching in Ballarat.
It was a delightful day, a little bit cloudy and a gentle breeze.
This was find number fifteen for us today.
A quick walk and an even quicker find.
Just a word of warning, we found syringe packets at GZ, beware for where you put your hands.
