Found It!The Hilux had no problems getting up here. Just put it in low range and slowly crawled up the hill. There sure is a great view from the top! Found the cache after a quick search.TFTC
We have been staying in Tumbarumba and spending a bit of time walking the trails of the Hume and Hovell track. We have been fortunate with the weather as there have been quite a few storms in the last few days on the east Coast. Camping a little further inland seems to have helped put us on the right side of the rain!We had our eye on this particular walk and Hide over the last couple of days.Todays target was to drive and then park the car on the road which now looks to be way below us.We dont have a four-wheel-drive, so our only option was foot, and we went straight up the first part of the hill before reaching the road, which which we then took to GZ. The views along the way spectacular, and as we sit here and catch our breath at GZ, we are looking down over some beautiful shades of green in the fields below. Thanks mvyrmnd and SciFiRulz. A FP added for this beautiful adventure. Domsky
Rare opportunity to get away with out the kidlets the wife and I decided to head up to Geehi flats for the long weekend with plenty of geocaching stops along the way. Awesome weekend with many great caches found. Not to bad of a climb up here, may have been different in the wet. Put the 4by in low gear and slowly climbed up. Once at the top we took in views (been lots of views to take in today) then got down to business. Took way longer than it should have but eventually unearthed the cache buried in leaf litter. TFTC!
A nice slow 4WD drive up to GZ to take in the magic! SL at 2.35pm Left: eagle PT. Took photos of course! And then a slow descent to the gate. #9646 TFTC mymnd and thanks to SciFiRulz for keeping it on the game board. A perfect day for exploring and taking in the views.
Headed to Corryong today with fitzy_1965 and albida33.
Met up at Yass before heading south. Thankfully the weather held off, but I still got my feet wet at one cache.
Quick find here today.

28,640. Found with minniek and albida33 during a fun run down this way to attend the Community Celebration Event in Corryong.
When we saw the Community Celebration Event in Corryong published we decided it was well worth the drive down to clean up a few more caches in the area, cache in Corryong for the first time, and possibly meet some new Cachers. We met up with albida33 in Yass - left our car there - and took the 4WD on the trip just in case we needed it (good idea!). After the event we continued on Caching. This was the next cache for the adventure. And this is why the 4WD came in handy. What an amazing cache to do ! Using albida's skill we were soon way up at GZ and found the well covered cache. Stamped/signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then completed the death defying drive down with no problems - phew. Then we headed off to the next one.
Thanks SciFiRulz !! Fav Point !

With a weekend ahead, plans were made to join MinnieK and Fitzy_1965 in a dash for another Community event in Corryong. We met up out at Yass and began our drive south and west. It was not until after Tarcutta that we found out first cache. The weather held good all day, but there was signs of flooding almost every where we went. The main goal for the day was made on time and a great time meeting some people I have not met before and some I have. We did a few more caches in the region and the local LABs before heading home for a late night.
After leaving Corryong, we decided to check out the track to this cache. I was a little worried about all the rain, but the track was stony and dry, and steep. We went up the steep bit in Low range and was able to get right to GZ for a bit of a search before we found it under 10 months of leaf litter. Getting down was a little scarier, but easer driving.
Thanks for the cache SciFiRulz

Taking some time after the Wangaratta Mega to travel around and grab some caches with The_Tritonz.
WOW! Huge thank you to SciFiRulz for taking over this cache as it is well worth preserving. The 2 females were a little tentative about this small hill but with 4x4's, and low gear, the track wasn't a problem at all. We only thought later that we should have gone to the top of the hill as the view from the cache was nothing short of spectacular so up higher would have been awesome. This is a definite favourite.
Thanks for placing the cache for us to find and showing us the views which we would have otherwise missed out on, not realising that you could enter the property.

There is nothing more that can be said other than to do this cache if you can. The views were absolutely magnificent. I only wish that we had thought to go to the top whilst there. Oh well, just means that we will have to return. Thanks to SciFiRulz for keeping this cache going. It is well worth it. A definite favourite for us. This is one of those caches that we believe caching is about. Showing you something that you wouldn't have known was accessible.
Wow this was scary for one half of the team but it’s amazing what she can get through with her eyes shut. With 2 4WD’s Papi4506 and Geoturtle37 and ourselves made it up using low range in the steep part without incident.
The cache was found and signed as we took in the breathtaking views amazed at the scenery before us.
Coming down both old landcruisers, an 80 and 105 series took their time and safely arrived at the bottom without incident.
A favourite point for sure.
Thanks SciFiRulz for the adventurous placement.

Was a very steep drive in the 4WD, also got to see hang gliders take off at the top. Fantastic views.
Awesome day for a drive and a treasure hunt thank you for the hide awesome adventure
I drove past this one yesterday and failed to see the access point. Coming back from Tumut today I reviewed what was required. I needed to spend some energy, sitting in the car for 8 days has not served me well. I parked safely outside the gate and embarked on the trek by foot. I saw the track head way out west and then back again, so took a short cut straight up. I learnt the hard way how sharp these thistles are. Nasty. I got to the track and pushed on. After a few breaks I crack out the phone to survey my process. Crap, 500m gone. 500m to go. A quick check of my DT grid and confirmation this was needed. I pushed on. I had quite a few stops and can confirm the 45degree claim of the CO is not an exaggeration. Furthermore I also agree that my decision to NOT bring my low clearance chariot was a good one. The CO has it right on all counts. I got to the sharp bend and found I overshot GZ. What? The GPS wandered and had me in the wrong location for the satellite map. I took a phone call and sat in a tree log. 10 mins later it had settled and I found I was 2m from GZ. Woohoo. There it was. So pleased.

I've been eyeing this cache off for the past several years we've been coming up to this part of the world but we've always been put off by the description of the drive up. Yesterday M was having a chat with another camper who assured him that we would be able to manage the drive in our ford ranger. Turns out he was right although we suspect the road has been recently graded which probably made it just that little tiny bit easier . After signing the log and trying to admire the view though the smoke haze, we continued along the track until we came out near Corryong.
Thanks for find #1533
Took trackable, left nothing.

After setting up camp on the Victorian side of the river, having left Tumut this morning, Pa was kind enough to drive me up here to grab another smilie. I loved the drive, the views, the cache and the fact that we continued on to find the trig. Thanks for placing this cache mvyrmnd and maintaining it SciFiRulz to encourage us to visit this incredible location to see the view for ourselves. SL as SG as I often do in small caches to save space. TN LTb.
After a morning caching in the Burrowa-Pine park we stopped in Tintaldra for lunch then headed back to Corrtong. On the way I spotted this cache on the map and we thought "why not, we have the right vehicle". So off up the hill we went. Cache was found and then we continued on to the top to admire the views. We continued along Elliots Ridge Track foe some distance until we found a track that headed down in the right direction. Thanks for the adventure
Found with Happy Feet 1. View that log for details. Great fun and thanks CO for cache.
With the weather hotting up, it was time to escape the heat and head for the hills for the weekend. OZREG and I, enjoyed grabbing a few up around the mountains, where I hadn't explored previously. We made some good discoveries, clever hides and had some real adventures, over the weekend and shared some fun and laughs along the way.
This had been on the radar for a while but never had either the vehicle or time to do this. Today we had both, so we decided to take the challenge and drive up, rather than walk. The track was very steep and a bit chopped up in some places but we were happy to be able to make it up to GZ and finally sign this one off. With all the fires about, it was far too smokey, for any views today, so we turned around and headed back down.
Thanks SciFiRulz for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

Walking it is! Fab views in between fronts. Definitely a 4.5 heart starter! Looking to fill that D/T grid one day! TFTC
Found on a short trip out of town to get this cache and see the views from the hang gliding platform. A short but steep track in some parts 4wd required but not too extreme in the dry. TFTC
A test of the car's ability. I am a nervous 4wd person, but muggle husband loved it. Great view.
We did this one the day before arriving to Mount Kosciuszko. Very nice walk on a. Beautiful day
Visiting Corryong regularly we have intended to do this for years, but something always gets in the way. Today was the day - it was Christmas Eve so everyone else was busy and we had the top of the mountain to ourselves. We took Mum for a drive, packed a thermos and set up the picnic rug in the shade to admire the view. In fact it was so idyllic up the top that we looked in the car fridge and found we had enough for lunch and so extended our stay, then made our cache find on the way down. A great little excursion, thanks mvyrmnd.
Being local have been past this a few times before getting into geocaching. Reasonably easy find with TaraGrace. TFTC.
Heading off on a weeks holiday in the High Country and an overnight stop in Corryong planned. This cache has been on our radar since we first planned this trip and was always going to be the first cache we went to on our arrival. We have a 4WD so the trip up the mountain was a breeze, first stopping to get the cache before continuing to the top for a look.
The cache was fairly simple to find, although lots of cobwebs about nearby. A favourite point here for this cache, simply for the location. Thanks SciFiRulz for this cache placement.

Decided to show my two muggle friends Sandra and Steve one more cache, and this was the closest. Boy I should look at the description and terrain before heading off! Driving up the road, the tomtom suddenly said "turn right"... What, into that dirt track? OK then, if you insist. - Well that got interesting very quickly. The track got steeper and steeper, and my little Tiguan didn't know what hit it! The sun was about to set, and was straight in my eyes, so I couldn't see the cliff on the left, or the drop-off on the right! But we soldiered on, and got quite close to the cache - good car that!
At GZ, the cache was quickly found, and they we enjoyed a mighty fine sunset, before taking the plunge back down again! A little scary, but all good. Thanks SFR - a favourite from me!

On our way to Jindabyne, hubby couldn't resist the challenge.

[8)] We drove the Elliot Ridge Track in our geocar (which was a Suzuki Grand Vitra three door) and was able to get within forty meters of GZ. We got to about three hundred meters from GZ and I said to myself "What have we got ourselfs into!" but there was no turning back (good name for a song title) and there was nowhere to turn around, so we pushed on. We were amazed in what this geocar could achieve. [8)]

I added this cache to my holiday must do caches a couple of weeks ago. I am so glad that I did. Firstly we decided that we wanted to get our Vict souvenir so that bought us into the area. The cache description just made me say "Yes!". Not sure if we are stupid or not but we drove up in our trusty 4WD. To start with we drove around trying to find the way in without realising that the gate to the paddock could be opened and we could just drive on in. We were trying to find some back road! We entered the paddock with loads of cows staring at us and we immediately started slipping and sliding on the mud. It was a wet and rainy day so what do you expect! Um... this will be a challenge. It got better the further in we drove and then we were committed. There was no turning back. A comment to Daddy from master 4 in the back at one point was "just charge at it mate". We went up and up and up and up. We bounced and tossled about inside. Finally the GPS was counting down in low numbers and we parked up and ran off to find the cache. It was in hand rather quickly. All is good with this lovely cache. The views were very nice and driving back down we could see a red sunset. A fav point from eatmorchikin from Brisbane
have had this one on the list for a couple of years and finally ticked it of . Foot slogged up from the hairpin and whilst it was a steep climb it was enjoyable. The views from up here made the climb worthwhile. Container was in good shape and still well hidden. Thanks for bringing me up here and for a fav cache SL TNLN Cheers 4 Now

Find #4168
After a night camping at Thredbo Diggings and a check of the weather, Day1976 and I decided it was probably not a great Idea to walk to the top of Kosiciuszko today as it was already raining a little and the BOM forecast was for snow, winds and rain on the summit. So, we bailed and gradually headed for the Camp and Cache event in Yakandandah, picking up a few caches along the way.
Wow, what a cache!! just a 900m wander from the cars? Yeah right!!!!. This one sure did get the blood pumping, with the rain getting heavier as we got closer to GZ, we still had some fantastic views across the valley. We arrived at GZ and Day spotted the container a little out in the open. We re hid it where we expected to find it. Awesome Cache.

The plan had been to climb Kosciuszko this weekend to make my 1000th find. Unfortunately bad weather had put a stop to that so ahomburg and I cached our way back to Yackandandah for an event there. This cache was one that we grabbed along the way.
It was a steep walk up to the cache in the wind and the rain and we got completely soaked but it was good to blow a blow a few cob-webs out. On the way up we passed 1000s of very healthy looking Black-Boy plants which had their flowers in full bloom. Quite a strange and magnificent plant that a mate of mine is currenty researching. I took a few photos and emailed him with the GC code for the cache, so I dare say he will be up here soon too!
The cache was found a little too easily. It was sitting out in the open, on a log, not hidden at all. Once signing the log we replaced it with a bit more camoflage in what looked to be the obvious spot. Thanks mvyrmnd, we may have cursed your name a few times on the way up, but looking back at it now, it was exactly what I needed! A favourite point from me!

#1236 - quick find, after a nice walk up the hill. We continued up to the summit and then across to the aerials and hanging gliding jump off spot with a magnificent view. We have passed here so many times to and from Jindy and Mount Beauty?Tawonga, always in a rush to get to destination. Now we have been up the big one! Thanks for facilitating heading up here for morning views. Most worthy of a favourite point.

Found as Nicnax with PapaGrouch. Not having a suitable vehicle we had to walk up to this one, approx. 1h45m up and 1h back down. Not sure which was harder, hauling myself up that hill or going back down with jelly legs and trying not to slip and fall. Left a couple of trinkets. Think I'll have to give this a favourite too, it was jolly hard work getting it but I'm glad I did. TFTC
Enjoyed the quick blast up the track to the GZ, and after locating the cache and signing the we walked back to the car and took time to admire the views across the valley. The track was in pretty good condition but definitely 4x4 only.

Well, did we have an adventure! Maybe our experience will alert others. We didn't take mvrmnd's warning lightly but we think we are reasonably experienced. The vehicle has low range of course, extra clearance, driver assist and centre diff lock (automatic in low range). It also has a winch which turned out to be just as well when a rear wheel dropped into a deep hole with a loose sandy bottom and a large rock at the front, on a steep uphill section. After a couple of goes accompanied by a smoking tyre the winch came into play and we moved on. (Note to self - have the diff lock checked!)
Then we missed GZ! The GPSr had fallen off the window, co-pilot didn't want to retreive it from the floor while jolting along and the driver wasn't for stopping on a steep upslope. When we did stop on a reasonable flat we had to walk back 350m straight line distance. That wasn't as bad as the return uphill!!
Anyhow, we retreived the cache at 2.45 pm, TNLNSL (neither of us picked up the geobag and neither was prepared to go back for it!) and admired the views. We carried on up the track and admired more views at the hang glider jump-off place while contemplating what kind of person jumps into space like that. Then we came down on what looked like the best used track only to find 'Private - Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted' signs. Mmmmm ...
A bit stressful for a while but all's well that ends well and we enjoyed it. Thanks, mvrmnd, for getting us to a superb place for the Magic and for the challenge (gritted teeth!).

An afternoon geocaching with my mate and his 2 kids who have never heard of Geocaching.
Spectacular views during late summer afternoon.
The view was so great we 4x4'ed to the top and took in the views from the hand glider lauch area then drove down via Elliots track to the SW.

Heading back home after spending a few days at Tom Groggin. Took the geopatrol upbthe hill as it was too hot to walk it. Many thanks for the cache.
2ND TO FIND THIS ONE AND I HAVE TO GIVE IT A FAVOURITE FOR THE VIEWS AND 4WDING. LOCKED IN THE HUBS AT THE GATE BUT THOUGHT THE TRACK DIDN'T LOOK TOO BAD SO LEFT IT IN 2WD. GOT WITHIN 300M OF GZ AND THOUGHT ITS TIME FOR 4WD. GOT TO GZ SIGNED THE LOG AND THOUGHT I WOULD GO RIGHT TO THE TOP OF MY ELLIOT. GEEZ I'M GLAD I DID THE 4WDING JUST GOT BETTER AND FEW SPOTS YOU HAD TO PICK A GOOD LINE BUT NOTHING A STANDARD 4WD COULDN'T HANDLE. AND THE VIEWS AT THE TOP ARE TO DIE FOR. THERE IS A LAUNCH ARE FOR THE AUSTRALAIN PARAGLIDING CENTRE OVERLOOKING CORRYONG AND THE VALLEY. IT IS A MUST TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP AT AN ELEVATION OF APPROX 930M. LOVED THIS CACHE TFTC
#2653 WOW - magic indeed!! Our interest was piqued with this cache because it promised views - it's one of the things we love about caching. Having driven through peasoup fog in Corryong we started to worry that the views might not be forthcoming today.... As we rose higher on the track it became apparent that GZ would fortunately be above the fog bank - although we didn't see the valley fully, what we did see was very impressive. Seeing the fog from that perspective was fantastic - like a fluffy white mattress. The track is steep with loose rocks in places but we were in a well equipped vehicle that was engaging in 4WD - even better! This is a great place, thanks for bringing us here Simon & glad that Murmungee Magic worked its magic on you as Murray Valley Magic did for us. A favourite from us, see the pic's we took.
