Out walking around Alexis Park, while attending Geocoinfest 2013, thanks for the cache!
Grabbing a few caches in the area with Kinny_k while in town for the mega event. Nice cache in a neat area. Thanks for the fun and the smiley. SL TFTC!
When we heard that the 2013 Geocoinfest was going to be in Las Vegas we knew we just had to plan on attending. There had been 500 caches added to the E.T Highway since we had been there last, as well as another 500 caches placed just south of Las Vegas. We also meet Mr. SDC's brother and sister in Vegas once a year either in April or October, so how could we pass up the chance to attend a mega event, add over 1000 smiles to our profile as well as meet up with family all in the same place and time. Our plan was to drive to Tonapah spend 2 days to finish up the E.T. Highway. then head to Las Vegas doing some caches on the way. We would then cache in and around Las Vegas while joining in on all the Events and festivities for the coin fest. We would have one day to ourselves before family arrives to complete the El Dorado power trail. We are going to try to keep up with logging on a daily basis and I hope I have loaded all the challenge requirements on the laptop, if not I will load requirements when we get home.
Day 1: When routing our trip we noticed there were two power trails in the vicinity of Cedar City which was on our route to Tonapah. We decided we would go ahead and complete those trails as well as grabbing some special cache types (virtual and challenge caches) in the Cedar City area. Once we were done we continued in the direction of Tonapah and grabbed some of the E.T. Highway and some of the surrounding caches before heading into Tonapah and checking into the hotel.
Day 2. After a much needed good nights sleep we were ready to tackle the remainder of the E.T. Highway and the other thank you caches placed by previous finders. It started out as a very cool morning and warmed up a bit which made for some pleasant weather to cache. As the day went on some cloud cover would come and go along with scattered light showers which concerned us, as we did not want to get stuck in any mud. We managed to make it through without incident.
Day 3: We got another early start checked out of the hotel room, ate breakfast and headed towards Las Vegas for the 2013 Geocoinfest. We planned to pick up a few caches on the way that weren't part of the ET Highway. We ran into several groups of very friendly geocachers and did some caches together. One group convinced us to do the geo art in Rachel, but since we weren't prepared to do that with the caches loaded on our GPSr we will log those caches when we return home.
Day 4: Before heading over to the Geocoin Event we just had to pick up any caches between our hotel room and the event site. We replaced one of the caches to keep it going.
We want to thank all the cache owners for placing and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment. SL, TFTC
