Logs
Down in Tauranga for the National Surf Life Saving Championships - being held over a 4 day period at the Mount. A little bit of time to spare on day 3 allowed us to venture out close to where we are staying. Quickly located, as previously mentioned the log was mush. We have replaced with a new bag and log. TFTC
Found, but the bag is torn, and the log is too wet to sign. If I had a spare bag, I would have replaced it! If we're back this way I'll stop and fix otherwise maybe you can. We spent time at the wrong tree but then expanded our search and found it. TFTC
Another not too hard of a find. It helps having a couple of sets of eyes. Log is a bit wet
It's there it's cool , great walk great find new paper added take a spare small snap lock bag because other one bit wrecked

Found what looked like where the cache should be based on photos but didn't get it
Have been meaning to get this for a veeery long time, but we never knew where to park and its so damn busy. Tonight was the night! Near midnight is damn quiet and we made our way to gz with ease, finding surprisingly quicker than expected. Cache doesn't seem broken but the ziplock is torn, making the log unusable. Appreciate the awesome design, damn cool!
Took a bit of ferreting & saw something a little out of place. Log & cache a little bit under the weather. Tftc
Needs maintenance. Wet log. Also not sure if its fitting together properly. Great cache.
Cool find! Little difficult screwing and log book a little wet. Also such a busy road!
I have a 3 month sabbatical mostly traveling around the planet. My goal is to find and log 1000 caches. New Zealand is my 4th station traveling from south Christchurch to north Auckland, my first visit here, its far away. This is my sabbatical-cache #917.
Out and about on our bikes to get a few smilies for LEAP DAY. Lovely weather for it too, fine but cloudy and the place to ourselves. This was our second visit here as we DNFd it in 2012. Older and wiser now, (!!) we looked harder and came up with the find quite quickly. The road is busier than ever, but nobody takes any interest going past. Noticed a play that we now must go to - definitely signs of the times. Cache is all good. TFTC
I was very lucky that Kahluis agreed to help me with this one too... as I had been unsuccessful here yesterday .
I was given a nod here ; and it was not at all what I expected!.
Very wet log so Kahluis replaced it with dry paper.
Apart from that , all was good!
Cheers for another smilie!

Nice hide but your Log is wet
So we have put our names on some paper and put it back

Nearest geocache to windscreen repairers and included in a short walk with Tama the dog and KrystalKath while repairs effected.
A bit of a tricky hide. No actual cache container as such hence the log sheet is too wet to write on. Substituted another sheet and logged find. TFTC

#793 - Had to get a chip fixed in my windscreen, so with time to kill I came and to try and find this one again. I've attempted once before with no success. But today we were in luck! what a great container! very innovative compared to all the caches I've found.
But the log and the bag is completely soaked. couldn't sign the log, see attached photo. tried to dry out as i had no spare paper with me, but its too wet.
Next person to find bring paper

I have checked the cache today and put a fresh log book in it.
It is all good just waiting to be found enjoy.

This was our last cache for the day sorry I didn't have one but its in desparate need of a new bag otherwise a clever hide tftc
Glad we had just found "a handy bridge" and knew what we were looking for or we'd have been there all night! Tftc
With the difficulty level we were thinking this would be harder. Was a bit dirty, but otherwise not too tough.
Like previous cachers mentioned, CO probably needs to replace the log. We did manage to sign it though. Otherwise the cache is all good. Surprised that this is a difficulty 4! Tftc
walked around from faulkners park. after that cache this was fairly easy. cache defa needs some maintenance. tiare06 has evidence of that. we didnt have anything to fix it with. thanks for getting us out of the house on a nice hot summers day
Very busy day for traffic. Hunted around a bit but area strewn with rubbish of all description so didn't want to be too hands on when hunting.
Kind of funny story with this find. I was sitting in the centre of tauranga after collecting a couple of caches there and looked where else I could go. I noticed this was a d/t I did not have so that was that. Off I want. Over shot the turn off once and turned around heading towards Bethlehem to go back. Missed it again and ended up heading out to the mount. Third times a charm I made the turnoff. Then came finding the cache. I searched where it looks like others have as well to no avail. Attacked from a different angle and much closer to where gps wanted me to go. Finally saw it but log book is unuseable and needs urgent attention. Photo taken as proof, I won't be back again as I'm on holiday here
2654 Found but maintenance required. Top does not match and log needs replacing.
This was a quick find however it needs a lot of maintenance. The log is dirty and damp.
Quick find after looking for a new one in the area. Cheers for that. Needs a lil maintenance. TFTC
10.30am. Quick find with accurate coords. Plastic bag is damaged and seems a bit big to get properly into the container, but I got it back better than I found it.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Out and about with ApacheD today getting a few caches. log sheet was wet and even though it was waterproof paper our pen would not clearly write on the log sheet. ApacheD made the find while I was looking at the clue.

Quite an easy find after doing What A Handy Bridge. The cache needs maintenance as the plastic bag is shredded and the cache isn't going back smoothly. TFTC.
Started off looking in completely the wrong part then read the description properly and realised we needed to move. Looked a little from a distance and spotted the cache. Definitely needs some CO maintenance as cache is a complete mess, bag ripped and muddy although log was on waterproof paper so was writeable. Lucky we had some wetwipes in the car. Great cache though, thanks
Looked in a few spots before the right one. May need some tlc, log bag was very muddy and the cache doesn't seem to fit completely. Still all good to find and sign though. Tftc
Figured that no time or day was going to be the best to find this one due to the traffic so braved it this afternoon while walking the dog. Luckily this was a rather quick find and knew what I was looking for having done a similar one down the road. I spotted the bottom part of the cache first. Tried to pull the cache out but it is a sodden wad of mush so was not able to record on the log. Happy to have found this one though.
Very very badly needs some attention.
Cache log is Sopping wet, paper mashee inside a ripped plastic bag.
Urgent please then I be happy to sign.
Cheers

As with the previous finder, the bottom of the cache is what initially caught my eye. Was not sure about the top until a little "digging" brought the cache log to light.
Nothing there that is possible to sign, subsequently couldn't.
Replaced as found. In very VERY urgent need of maintenance.

Initially started too high which isn't good as it was the bottom of the cache that caught my eye, not the top part, great idea but the cache is in some terrible condition now, wish I had paper and a bag with me cause there's nothing but ruins here. Thanks anyway (:
Needs maintenance. Have put in waterproof log but didn't have plastic bag. Securing device not operational.
We had looked for this one on a previous road trip with no luck. Went back again this time and took some time to find as couldn't get GPS to lock on a spot and had been searching in wrong spot. Once in correct spot was a quick find. Bag is grotty and falling apart so could not get cache to sit back in how it is meant to. Needs some maintance tftc
#7146. A short walk to Waihi Road in Judea this morning. GZ was pretty quiet when we visited. Quick find. But the log book was too mushy to even open up. Took a photo, and placed a small piece of paper as temporary log. Not sure if the cache configuration had changed, since it did not seem to fit tight any more. Took nothing, left nothing else, signed log.
Replaced as found.

Didn't take too long to spot this one and only a couple of minutes to wait for a break in the traffic for a quick retrieval. I can image at certain times of the day that this cache would be near impossible to do without being seen. Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, the logbook is now two sodden wads of paper and needs replacing. Took a picture as proof of find before attempting to return cache as found, however may have damaged the outer bag even more in doing so. TFTC Flippaduck.
Found it quite easily as it was sticking right out. Impossible to sign as the log has turned into a muddy pulp and needs replacing. TFTC. #328
This was one of nearly eighty Geocaches I found in the company of HKCB and 11hpg11, we signed the log HI1, an anachronism made up of the first initials of our Geocaching handles to save on log space. This was our second trip to the Bay of Plenty. A few weeks ago we conquered The Mount and Papamoa and were back today on another infamous mad mission. We left Hamilton at 4:30 am and I was back at home in time to read my two boys a story and tuck them into bed at 7:30pm. We had a fun day exploring the area and got to see lots of parts of the area we hadn’t experienced before. A big thanks to all the cache owners who took the time and effort to place so many high quality and well maintained hides. Thanks also to HKCB for organising the day and driving. I think it was fitting to undertake these trips during the ‘Geocaching Road trip’ Groundspeak promotion, as it typified all those things that make a good road trip, most importantly good company. There were plenty of laughs and some memorable shenanigans.
It took us a few minutes to locate this one. Its a novel hide and certainly not what we were expecting. Unfortunately the log was just mush so I snapped a picture of the log to prove we found it.

Out and about trying to clear off another chunk of Tauranga geocaches. Again accompanied by HKCB and Iammrwalker, this seems to becoming a habit. Early start, head to Tauranga, cache the whole day, say we will be home early, end up being home later and then grovelling out of the dog box. This time we set off from Hamilton at 4.30am to try and get more caching done before we had to turn around. We seem to be enjoying this so much we are planning a return visit again soon. Signed our logs as "HI1" as an acronym of our respective caching names. A great, laugh filled day that was thoroughly enjoyed.
We overshot this one and it took a little longer to find but eventually Iammrwalker found it. As stated below the log is completely mush and so we took a photo of it instead of writing. Good to find something different though, just needs a little maintenance

Another all day mission with 11HPG11 and iammrwalk, this time focusing on the other side of Tauranga. I had just finished logging the all the caches we had found in Papamoa when I looked at the map and thought why not have a crack at the other side as well!
A early start as we were on the road at 4.30am as we needed to be back not to late otherwise we'd be in the dog box when we got back home. Another fantastic day out with lots of the usual laughter and this time the weather was much better behaved. In total over 80 finds, with only a couple of DNF's and we got back in time to stay out of the dog boxes, just!
We signed the log books with Hi1, an acronym of our caching handles. A big thanks to all the CO's for all the placements, and for taking us to places we hadn't been before.
HPG and mrwalker done the hard yards on this one while I was still sorting out the car. Had just got to GZ when they were in the middle of taking a photo of the mushed log. Thanks for the neat hide.

This is one of the closest ones to home unfound, and it had just started to rain so also looked like it could be a park and grab. Took quite a bit of hunting but have found one similar down the road so once the light shone on something I was away, Couldnt sign the log as it was fully mush. Thanks for the cache
I'm in the Tauranga/Mt Maunganui area to get a few of additions to my new caravan and so while they are working on that I am going to work on getting my numbers a bit bigger.
This one has a very wet mass of paper for a log.
Cheers for the cache.

Found this cache but needs maintenance big time log was saturated couldn't write on it tftc
Quick find, the cache was lying on the ground next to its hiding location. Could to with some TLC as the soggy logsheets are preventing it from being hidden as intended. TFTC Flippaduck, #7659
thanks to all the owners of the geocaches that we found today in Whangamata and on our way to Waihi, Waihi Beach, Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. You gave us a wonderfull day!
TFTC and greetings from Belgium.

Spotted something fairly quickly and thought it was kind of out of place given the surroundings. Log quickly located but its soaking wet and i was only just able to scribble my name on there. Thanks for an interesting hide and TFTC!
A 2nd visit needed to find this, but when you read the clues and previous logs properly you tend to head straight for it. Then wonder why you didn't see it the first time you looked. It looks like I am after all of the signs, I think another 7 to find. Thanks Flippaduck.
This was a tricky one. We parked in the bus stop (bad idea). Then searched all over the place. Found something we thought was the cache - turned out to be someone's stash. There's lots of rubbish strewn all over the gully, and the place stank of urine, so we had had enough.
Then, spotted something... which turned out to be the cache. Yes the log is still wet but managed to sign it. At this point a bus came winging towards the busstop. We kept ourselves scarce and the bus went away.

Yeah it took me a little while to find. I ending up spotting the base of it first as the top was well covered. Future cachers should know not to go on the other side of the mound - it is a cesspit and unnecessary. And that the cache is not water tight... I had a seat while filing in the log which was funny when the bus rocked up... I waved him on but I don't think he was impressed. Anyway, an enjoyable series so far, TFTC.
13/12/14 14:25 Not what I expected at all. Had stopped to give directions to a couple, also on bikes, looking for Bethlehem. Verified the country , told them about geocaching and then they rode past as I retrieved the cache. Excellent fun, on the excursion with The Princess, around the lagoon. Cheers, GC.
