This extended/long weekend across Anzac Day, it was an outback adventure to Charleville and Carnarvon Gorge. Departing Thursday afternoon, I stopped in Roma before continuing west through Mitchell and Morven and completing various puzzles and power trails. I then caught up with a small group to hike Carnarvon Gorge on Sunday and Monday, and then after having a final night in Roma, returned on Monday.Today, it was time to head home from my weekend away from Roma to home. It was an opportunity to find a few remaining geocaches along the highway, and after visiting a few Chinchilla geocaches including the memorable cactoblastis monument [Mr Cole Snr, The Shanti & Prickly Pear](https://coord.info/GC8EW84), I opted to detour through Cecil Plains after going through Dalby, and then returned east via Toowoomba. Who would have thought that regular geocache stopping would add so much time to the normal 5.5 hr drive? ?? With deteriorating weather in the late afternoon, it was time to then make the beeline home whilst getting a sneaky rain car wash along the way.I rolled past the golf course down the sandy tracks to then arrive at the muggle-free oval. The outhouse nearby was interesting, and then making a quick look for this cache, I realised what an awesome hide this was! The cache container and logbook were still in good shape. Despite this geocache archived 2.5 years ago, it was still a well-put-together cache deserving of a Favourite Point! Thanks griz066 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Headed west with the gang for a burger ... and a few old caches. And now heading home just T4mmmy and I spotted this one on the car GPS. Thanks to Fangsoki and friends for alerting us originally we made the stop and checked out what we were looking at. Something looked out of place to me - and yup ... cache behold. Pretty cool find. cheers.
Thanks griz066 for entertaining me at this location.

1MinnieMoo decided to tackle these now-archived caches. Such a shame the cache owner lost the love for geocaching.
1MinnieMoo picked our way toward GZ past the golfers and pulled up at an abandoned spot. On our way to GZ, I spotted something out of the corner of my eye. Yep - that's the geocache. We signed the log and moved on. The cache was in good condition. A clever little hide. TFTC griz066

Fangsoki and I were doing the Australia Day rounds heading “a little country” for a day of adventure between Leyburn and Toowoomba. We knew of these recently archived caches, and decided we needed to go on the hunt.
This was our last one from this CO, and we made our way around by car, initially past the golfers, who no doubt wondered why we would be driving our car down here. Arriving at GZ, the first thing I of course notice was the outback styled toilet block, and then Fangsoki wandered over towards GZ and soon noticed something that blended with its surroundings yet wasn’t quite part of the surroundings.
Log signed as a kangaroo bounded off away.
Thanks for the cache griz066.

The cache owner has decided Geocaching is not what it used to be. It used to be fun now there are too many tree huggers running around the country side pretending to be cache police, and vandalising caches. I don't want any part of it any more.
Two of this type of location in two days Logged and went screaming back to car for hand sanitiser.

I guess we were just unlucky that the day no sport was happening the guy was mowing the greens.. the closest one to the cache. He was zooming around at high speed for a ride-on so we stayed out of sight shielded by the convenient, or you could say convenience, GZ. He was soon powering away up the course leaving us free to search.
These are err.. interesting places to look for a cache because a wrong search could be so very wrong. Happily today the cache was found in the first place we looked. Great hide! TFTC griz066.

We had the caravan with us so had to walk to this one from the main road. It was worth it. A great spot for a cache to be secreted. I was lucky to find it relatively quickly after checking more obvious locations.
TFTC! Very sneaky indeed! Had to wait it out patiently for some golfers though! Like others have suggested - go with your gut, have a fiddle and you shall seek!
Felt a bit iffy being there, didn’t spend much time here and couldn’t find the cache.
Maybe next time when we have more time.
Maybe next time when we have more time.
Gained an hour by crossing the border but spent a fair bit of it on this cache with no luck. Will get it next time.

Tuesday. This is the last day of our return journey after staying at Carnarvon Gorge for the International Earthcache Day. As we headed off to GZ, I was just saying “I hope it’s not over there”… Oh well, I guess here is as good a place as any! After spotting a very likely looking cache hide, I asked Ruzzelz if he wouldn’t mind doing the honours and actually see if it was indeed the cache. All good! It was!
This was the 8th of 25 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***griz066***, for showing us this place.

Hi there griz066.
We found your cache **"Howzat"** today. (This makes our find count 19514).
Today we cached around Cecil Plains. The secondary aim of the day was to cache along roads we haven't traveled since we became full time grey nomads. Once we've done that we can draw another line on our wall map).
We found 11 caches today (DNF'd 2) .We thoroughly enjoyed our cache raid. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Signed this with Mum as 'Jess & Caro'. She is now Carø and I now have my own geocaching profile so we are sorting my logs for caches we found together. TFTC!
Mmmm that was one for the keen eye. Found on a day out with Jess & Caro. Sorry for the late logs, finally getting up to date now. Thanks for the cache!
Off for a drive and a picnic for my birthday with Ranibaskale today. We went through Dalby, to Lake Broadwater for lunch, and then continued onwards along some other roads with geocaches yet unfound by us.
The road got rather sandy as I made my way towards GZ... lucky the kia doesn't know she's not a 4wd hey. [;-0] Then the sand cleared again and I was able to pull up pretty close to GZ and we all made our way across and waited quietly for the golf team to complete their drives and head off. Then we stuck into our searching. A few no-go's and a few 'gee, I reeeeally hope it's not in there' moments... and then I found the cache, much to Rani's annoyance as she had dismissed the item earlier.
A very cool hide, this one. Thanks for this cache, griz066! [:-)]

Cool cache!

We took the chance heading to this one and took the trike up the dirt track all the time hoping that it was not going to turn into a sand bit, all was good just one soft spot. The cache was found exactly where out GPS told us to look, very clever. Will the cricket club ever rise again? SL TFTC
Staying at Millmerran for the Camp Oven Festival we took the opportunity to find some caches and this was one of them. A quick find here.

Camping in Cecil Plains for a couple of days while we wait for the Camp Oven Festival. Spending the day today chasing all the caches in the area.
We aimed for this one yesterday, but with the geovan attached it was too difficult, so now unhitched, today it was a breeze to get in. Searching around GZ, I overlooked the hide, Mr D twiddled a bit and found it

Had co here a few years ago, but the track in was too muddy and I was afraid of getting the car stuck. No problems today! I made the find pretty quickly! Great cache and a favourite from me! Tftc
Drove in part of the way and parked, then walked the rest birding on the way. Once at the GZ I started looking for a cache What Sort of Cache would someone hide here ? No idea. So just checked out everything in and out Still nothing RRRR. Second time around I noticed something not noticed before. A closer look Yes .

Found easily, but mozzies are really bad here. Pulled up in the car and the mozzies were all over the car, must have been the heat! Surely they couldn't smell us through the glass?? TFTC
Travelling around Australia in our Caravan with our cat.
After a great night with friends in Dalby it was time to move south today. We headed towards Milmerran but stopped for several hours in Cecil Plains. So glad we did. [^]
Enjoyed our visit to this town, exploring and finding the swimming pool, train station, golf course, cricket oval, Apex park. The cotton farms and bales, bush track driving. All caches bar 1 had good co-ords.

Was very obvious when I found the location, for a country girl like me anyway. Looks like the ground hasn't been used for a long time.
We are on a road trip heading to the ACT. We are towing our caravan and are enjoying traversing the back road where quite often there is an opportunity to stop and do a cache without being annoying to any other traffic. We have also based ourselves in Cecil Plains and Warialda and done some of the most enjoyable and creative caches we have ever done. We are so impressed with the standard of these caches. Fav point alloc. [^][^] Thanks to griz066.
We had an overnight stop here at Millmerrin. Up nice & early to find the caches in the Cecil Plains area.
What a great day we had, wonderfull caches found 14 in all & gave 5 favourite points. This is amazing for such a small town.
Started on the trees & then around the town, allwas so quiet at 8am in the morning.
A trip down the dirt road led us to this sporting area. Clever hide that deserves a favourite point.

#332 -After traveling around town grabbing a few other caches it suddenly dawned on us where this one was hiding. We returned to the scene and couldn't believe how easy it is to retrieve once you know that what you're looking really is where the cache is. And so another fave from us. tftc

You told me I was the one,
The only one who got your head undone
And for a while I believed the line that you spun,
But I've been looking for you
Looking closely at the map I do,
I didn't see it the way you wanted me to,
How, how, howzat?
You messed about I caught you out, howzat?
Now that I found where you're at !!
It's goodbye Well, howzat? It's goodbye
I only came for a smilie
Even though you're really not my style,
I didn't think that you'd run me 'round Like you do [:o]

A nice spot to stretch our legs and let the dog out for a wander. Our GPS was a bit out, but eventually had the cache in hand. TFTC
Another great Cecil Plains cache. Time to mow the cricket oval though.

9416 kms travelled in 21 days, one awesome eclipse observed near Mt Carbine in Northern Queensland and 712 cache finds, including a small handle of FTF's.
This was a trip I'd been planning for over 12 months with the main reason being to observe the solar eclipse on the morning of the 14th of November. I had decided to drive to Palm Cove and back, where my penthouse accommodation was located, while the rest of the family flew up and back. I love the drive and the unknown adventures that lay ahead; and I even think the last time I did one this big may have been for the previous eclipse in Australia which occurred over SA.
Apart from the great experiences, awesome scenery, and the characters met, the other reason to drive was to also do some serious caching, with the plan to stop at some power trails along the way including the Fruit Run and A.S. series near Stanthorpe on the way up and the Mid North Coast Wander series, just out of Port Macquarie, on the way back.
I had five days to travel each way with ten days in between spent in Palm Cove holidaying with my family. My route up took me from Melbourne to Tocumwal and up to Glenn Innes, through Toowoomba, Rockhampton and the coast road to Cairns while my route back was a bit more erratic. Heading from Cairns to Townsville then via Charters Towers to Rockhampton. From here it was through the amazing mining region to Roma then across to Dalby down through Stanthorpe (again) to Armidale, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga, Tocumwal and then home - phew.
Today I made my way from Roma, through Dalby and Millmerran and onto do some more of the A.S. series out of Stanthorpe that had been added; before crashing in the car in a great little spot I found just off the New England Hwy somewhere south of Tenterfield.
I entered the area from Warfield Ave and made my way to GZ. got out and started to search and notice the wind starting to pick up and some really dark clouds moving in quickly. Luckily I located the cache quickly as well and could move on to the next hide. Thanks for the hide.

Deciding to ditch the two multi’s, one we had solved before but there were muggles on the GZ and now 3 computers later I have no idea where the solved co-ords are and another that between the 2 will give us a reason to come back. We headed down a dirt track in the all terrain Mazda 3, following the directions on the Nuvi got as where we wanted to go which over time hasn’t always been the case on minor roads and tracks.
Mrs RF made a quick find before I even made it out of the car. When I saw the cache container I must admit I thought she had done really well to find it in the time.
Tempted to give out another favourite point but I think I have parted with 5 in 3 years and nearly as many today and I still have another worthy recipient to log later. Ah, Griz 066, it is nice to see something other than a Sistema box or Eclipse tin, have another…
Took nothing but memories and left nothing but our tag and footprints.
Hide, log and container are all in good nick.
Thanks for the cache griz066.

The Hound spent the previous Sunday wacking a Golf ball around the nearby Golf course and checked with a local on how to get to the Howzat ground. We are not too keen on caching around these outback houses but as on one else was about the cache was soon located logged and returned.

Even though this turned out to be a very quick find for me, points still need to be allocated to the hide method. I know it's a fairly common method, but it's also a brilliant hiding trick. Well done griz066 and TFTC. You've got a favourite point from me.
3.20pm What a lovely day and a few were playing golf so had to be careful with this find, would have been a nice day to have watched the cricket...TNLN SL cheers
Just the right type for Straddie the mad cricket fan, her hubby helps train younger cricketers so it is in the family to speak. Some quick photos of here doing her thing out there on the pitch and off we go to find the next cache.
We were towing our camper and not knowing what to expect up the track so we took the healthy option and walked in. A quick search at the end and - Howzat? TFTC.
Quick find at 1410.
Saw the first new one in Cecil Plains in ages pop up the other night. I knew I would be in Toowoomba on the 10th and had decided to drive the extra 110 klm home just to get this one.
Then I noticed yesterday 3 more and that made the drive even more attractive. Addiction is a good thing. Drove 500klm return from Nanango roughly yesterday to get 7. Drive in was interesting past the smoldering grass and on that track. What is it like in wet weather.
As soon as I saw what was at GZ and the direction my GPSr had me heading the light bulb lit up. GPSr was spot on co ordinates. There are a few caches out in the wilds now using this type of construction. There are at least three in Bundaberg area you should have a go at. TFTC griz066
Saw the first new one in Cecil Plains in ages pop up the other night. I knew I would be in Toowoomba on the 10th and had decided to drive the extra 110 klm home just to get this one.

Howzat! It nicked your bat and I caught you out! (a Cricketer's version of the song) Unfortunately, the club has a little work to do on their grounds and the amenities which I think are often being used by the golfers on the back nine and the cleaning staff are not turning up! Glad the cache was at a safe distance from this mess. Sneaky hide. Loved the challenge. TFTC griz066
