This extended/long weekend across Anzac Day, it was an outback adventure to Charleville and Carnarvon Gorge. Departing Thursday afternoon, I stopped in Roma before continuing west through Mitchell and Morven and completing various puzzles and power trails. I then caught up with a small group to hike Carnarvon Gorge on Sunday and Monday, and then after having a final night in Roma, returned on Monday.Today, it was time to head home from my weekend away from Roma to home. It was an opportunity to find a few remaining geocaches along the highway, and after visiting a few Chinchilla geocaches including the memorable cactoblastis monument [Mr Cole Snr, The Shanti & Prickly Pear](https://coord.info/GC8EW84), I opted to detour through Cecil Plains after going through Dalby, and then returned east via Toowoomba. Who would have thought that regular geocache stopping would add so much time to the normal 5.5 hr drive? ?? With deteriorating weather in the late afternoon, it was time to then make the beeline home whilst getting a sneaky rain car wash along the way. This Cecil Plains archived geocache was another great hide! I actually didnt think it would be here as no one else had claimed a find since it got archived, so I was only going to give it a few minutes before moving on. As it turned out, it was a reasonably quick find once I noted past comments and an appropriate attribute. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, although I did need pliers to undo the container as there was salt buildup within the threads. Thanks griz066 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.
The cache owner has decided Geocaching is not what it used to be. It used to be fun now there are too many tree huggers running around the country side pretending to be cache police, and vandalising caches. I don't want any part of it any more.
Love this one. School kids nowhere to be seen Felt like I was ‘loitering’ LOL Replaced the log as it was full.
All good to go again.
Still smiling at the sneaky hide
A fav point from me!

A great view of the CBD which also meant we were an uninterrupted view for the CBD. So it seemed a good time to get the prickles out of my socks while MrG put into action his hide theory. This cache could test the resolve of even a dodgy person.. thanks goodness geocachers have no such qualms. TFTC griz066.
A great hide with a little thought put into it. Whilst here have a look at the human sundial..
.it is accurate. Thanks
.it is accurate. Thanks
Had to use high level McGyver skills to get cache container opened; lucky we were on bikes & used bike lubricant & tools to twist open. Log damp. Container needs replacing as thread mangled.
This is a very cheeky hide in Cecil Plains. The CBD seems to be the pub which is as it should be. Food there is good. Muggle husband felt too awkward and left the discovery of this cache to me. A really good place for a cache to hang out. I could not get the lid off the container so have a photo to prove I found this chap.
A tricky little hide but the use of the term CBD might be a bit of a stretch. TFTC
Out and about with Fangsoki for a drive with Suzee in the countryside, and this was about as far from home as we were going to get, so we made a stop to commemorate the fact with a smilie. Felt a bit weird standing around, and the even weirder once the ultimately successful spot was checked. Really would like to see the appropriate cache attribute applied here - felt somewhat uncomfortable but mission achieved and we wondered on.
Thanks griz066.

Pprime and I were in the area and decided to grab this cache.
We parked up over the road and made our way to a certain GZ. Hmmm smartphones are indicating its still about 8m away.
I looked at where it was indicating and was somewhat concerned. I did notice an item it could be but wasn't overly fussed of where it was. Pprime became more daring than I. Sure enough, what I had spotted was the cache.
We signed the log and returned the cache to its home.
Personally, I didn't feel overly comfortable doing this one. But I see no one else seems to have minded. Each to their own I guess. A clever little hide, however. TFTC griz066

Tuesday. This is the last day of our return journey after staying at Carnarvon Gorge for the International Earthcache Day. Fantastic cache hide here. After pulling up near GZ, Mr SP took off to take some snaps of the train lines and silos. I thought that this spot looked very much like a clever cache hide and Ruzzelz was only too pleased to do the honours. I love the garden of the house near this cache – absolutely gorgeous.
This was the 9th of 25 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***griz066***, for showing us this place.

Found today after stopping at the local park for morning tea on our way through. What a great Apex park to have a break from the drive. Took us a little while to find, had to use previous logs to help. A sneaky hide. TFTC
Hi there griz066.
We found your cache **"CBD View"** today. (This makes our find count 19515).
Today we cached around Cecil Plains. The secondary aim of the day was to cache along roads we haven't traveled since we became full time grey nomads. Once we've done that we can draw another line on our wall map).
We found 11 caches today (DNF'd 2) .We thoroughly enjoyed our cache raid. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Sneaky! Cecil Plains is just a typical Queensland bush town, all pretty Bougainvillea & old houses. The street we were looking for no longer exists but appears on the map so we parked as close to GZ as possible & started the hunt. Mr Geo declared that there was no cache here but I spotted what I thought was a very sneaky hide. I trusted my instincts & came up with the goods. Nice one! Kutgw
Very clever!! Found on a day out with Jess & Caro. Sorry for the late log, just getting up to date now. Thanks for the cache!
Signed this with Mum as 'Jess & Caro'. She is now Carø and I now have my own geocaching profile so we are sorting my logs for caches we found together. TFTC!
Off for a drive and a picnic for my birthday with Ranibaskale today. We went through Dalby, to Lake Broadwater for lunch, and then continued onwards along some other roads with geocaches yet unfound by us.
Three of us started searching around GZ here and then I summoned the teen from the geokia and sure enough, Jess used her super sleuth powers and went straight to the cache! Ooh, we do like these sneaky kind of hides! A favourite point from us.
Thanks for this fun and sneaky cache, griz066!

TFTC. We left Kingaroy this morning taking advantage of a nice sunny day to drive to our overnight stopover in Millmerran.we stopped in Cecil Plains to stretch our legs and maybe find a cache or two.
A short walk from our parking spot and cache quickly located and signed.
A short walk from our parking spot and cache quickly located and signed.
Up early this morning as were are moving on to Texas, and I want to cache but Pa wants to be off the road by midday to avoid the worst of the heat.
Walked up to the GZ from nearby cache and started hunting around. Wandered up and down, back and forth feeling here, looking there, touching things I thought I shouldn't and took so long that Pa left the car and walked up to me. What's wrong? What are you looking for? I hadn't even finished and he said, What's this then? Yep he had found it for me. Very, very sneaky Griz066.
Added my initials, SG, to the log and returned the cache to its hidey hole. Definitely a good one.

Another very sneaky hide. The log is very damp and tattered so we have replaced with a fresh one. A FAV point from us. TFTC

We were quite curious when we first pulled up to this one but didn't take long to work out where the cache should be hiding Mr Parko grabbed the cache and replaced as found. A favourite from us for sure. Thanks griz066
Hmmmm is it??? Can we look there?? Well we did & it was. Clever hide! Tftc xo
Hi there griz066 - while in Dalby we decided a day outing to Cecil Plains was in order so off we went. This cache was a quick find and sign before continuing our day. SL. This is our find #4694 - thanks to griz066 for this cache.
**Smilie #5021**
We were quick to spot the likely location but that in no way detracts from the cleverness here.
Definitely a favourite!
Made our mark & replaced as found.

The town was quite today and we discretely poked at an item that we felt may hold a cache and it was good. Again, very clever. SL TFTC
Staying at Millmerran for the Camp Oven Festival we took the opportunity to find some caches and this was one of them. A quick find here, but sneeky!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Camping in Cecil Plains for a couple of days while we wait for the Camp Oven Festival. Spending the day today chasing all the caches in the area.
I was standing at GZ, looking at the obvious before I realised what I was looking at. Found, signed and returned, thanks griz066

Had to think about this one opposite school cop shop. Where could it be ?
GZ showed a spot sure it would be there somewhere. No. But then I located it .
Signed logsheet 15/10/2015 1:40 pm and replaced all as found.

Travelling around Australia in our Caravan with our cat.
After a great night with friends in Dalby it was time to move south today. We headed towards Milmerran but stopped for several hours in Cecil Plains. So glad we did. [^]
Nice work on the cache, have seen this sort before, but nicely executed.
Enjoyed our visit to this town, exploring and finding the swimming pool, train station, golf course, cricket oval, Apex park. The cotton farms and bales, bush track driving. All caches bar 1 had good co-ords.

With team Bellingham and Valkyrja. A lot of driving in circles in and around Cecil city. Bought back some good memories of when I lived there
We are on a road trip heading to the ACT. We are towing our caravan and are enjoying traversing the back road where quite often there is an opportunity to stop and do a cache without being annoying to any other traffic. We have also based ourselves in Cecil Plains and Warialda and done some of the most enjoyable and creative caches we have ever done. We are so impressed with the standard of these caches. Fav point alloc. [^][^] Thanks to griz066.
We had an overnight stop here at Millmerrin. Up nice & early to find the caches in the Cecil Plains area.
What a great day we had, wonderfull caches found 14 in all & gave 5 favourite points. This is amazing for such a small town.
Started on the trees & then around the town, allwas so quiet at 8am in the morning.
This was a different twist to a few similar caches we have done.
This one deserved a favourite point.

Out for a drive and BBQ.. Thought we would check.. So close, let's go for a wall..
Was out and about today so did a Maintenance run on all my caches. I can confirm that this cache is in the original location and is in good condition. Happy hunting. Replaced the wet log with a new one in a sealed container.
had geo hubby stumped for a while. geowife went almost straight to it. deserves a favorite from us. tftc
Looking at all the skyscrapers around CBD, what an amazing sight . No school today and too early for the pub to be open we found this nicely hidden cache pretty quick. Great hide, worth a favorite. TFTC griz066.

Parked the van at Apex Park and walked up to the pub via this find. Enjoyed the nearby sun dial.
Walked to this one, GPS spot on, but couldn't retrieve it because of a muggle across the road. Returned with my Geovan and parked so that the muggle couldn't spy. Grabbed ( twisted) the cache and signed. Another clever one, thankyou.
Found at 1051 with Marg. Wasn't to sure we had the right place but a bit of searching and checking We found it. TFTC.
Fortunately I was in the area at a relatively quiet time. Spotted the cache and soon had it signed and returned safely. Thanks griz066
Wow !!
What a weird cache [:o]
On the pushbike I cycled through the busy Cecil CBD and leant the bike against the handy fence
In full view of the entire main street shopping precinct, and of course the pub, I looked around for a cache hiding place
Well there was one spot !!
Um !! Dare I try it ?
Well if I get wet then I know that I got this one wrong !!
A short while later and still dry, I had the logbook in paw
A fabulous hide in a fabulous little towne [^]

After fighting our way through the crowds we spied a very sneaky possibility, once we thought noone was looking we checked and soon had the log in hand (and paw). Getting the log back in its hiding place was another challenge with so many possible muggle eyes about. Very good hide. TFTC!!!
That definitely deserves a favorite. I suspected there first up but it wasn't quite what I suspected so took a while of further looking before coming back to it and noticing something that wasn't quite right.
Thanks.
Thanks.
9416 kms travelled in 21 days, one awesome eclipse observed near Mt Carbine in Northern Queensland and 712 cache finds, including a small handle of FTF's.
This was a trip I'd been planning for over 12 months with the main reason being to observe the solar eclipse on the morning of the 14th of November. I had decided to drive to Palm Cove and back, where my penthouse accommodation was located, while the rest of the family flew up and back. I love the drive and the unknown adventures that lay ahead; and I even think the last time I did one this big may have been for the previous eclipse in Australia which occurred over SA.
Apart from the great experiences, awesome scenery, and the characters met, the other reason to drive was to also do some serious caching, with the plan to stop at some power trails along the way including the Fruit Run and A.S. series near Stanthorpe on the way up and the Mid North Coast Wander series, just out of Port Macquarie, on the way back.
I had five days to travel each way with ten days in between spent in Palm Cove holidaying with my family. My route up took me from Melbourne to Tocumwal and up to Glenn Innes, through Toowoomba, Rockhampton and the coast road to Cairns while my route back was a bit more erratic. Heading from Cairns to Townsville then via Charters Towers to Rockhampton. From here it was through the amazing mining region to Roma then across to Dalby down through Stanthorpe (again) to Armidale, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga, Tocumwal and then home - phew.
Today I made my way from Roma, through Dalby and Millmerran and onto do some more of the A.S. series out of Stanthorpe that had been added; before crashing in the car in a great little spot I found just off the New England Hwy somewhere south of Tenterfield.
I pulled up at GZ just as the heavens started to open up. I jumped out of the car after doing a quick scan of the area and quickly checked a couple of spots before locating the hide. My next problem was extracting the log and as I was doing so a big storm hit, the wind picked up heaps, a dust storm suddenly hide and massive rain drops started to smash into my back. I got a bit wet as I managed to extract the log and race to the car to sign it. I waited for a small lull in the deluge befoe returning the log / hide and heading off to the next cache. Nice hide, sneaky one. Thanks griz066, loving your caches here.

Too easy to access this on a pleasant Monday afternoon, schools in and the pub is quite. Both Mrs RF and I had solid fixes on both the GPSr and then couldn’t work out what the hide was. We had gotten on to the right possibility track but had taken the wrong fork and found something that should have been where it was but certainly wasn’t cache related. Took two looks in the right spot to find the log, to start with, I thought I had vandalised someone’s property before I went “No that has to be it” and looked again to see the log cowering as far as possible from the access point. Redemption for my earlier ‘Bloke’s look’ on ‘Milk Run’ as Mrs RF had declared the space empty.
What the heck, Mrs RF and I have enjoyed your caches imensly, Griz 066, please accept another favourite point for your efforts.
Took nothing but memories and left nothing but our tag and footprints.
Hide, log and container are all in good nick.
Thanks for the cache griz066.

Despite the place being practically deserted, it was a little awkward being in such an exposed location. We spent a few minutes just standing and looking around hoping for some inspiration as to where to look, when a boy on a scooter went past alerting the woofer to our presence. A previous log mentioned he quietened down after being spoken to. Hmmm...I am no dog whisperer. Thankfully just as the noise started I spotted something that looked like a hide. Attempted extraction with fear in case I was wrong. Phew. Spot on. Great hide. TFTC.
