This extended/long weekend across Anzac Day, it was an outback adventure to Charleville and Carnarvon Gorge. Departing Thursday afternoon, I stopped in Roma before continuing west through Mitchell and Morven and completing various puzzles and power trails. I then caught up with a small group to hike Carnarvon Gorge on Sunday and Monday, and then after having a final night in Roma, returned on Monday.Today, it was time to head home from my weekend away from Roma to home. It was an opportunity to find a few remaining geocaches along the highway, and after visiting a few Chinchilla geocaches including the memorable cactoblastis monument [Mr Cole Snr, The Shanti & Prickly Pear](https://coord.info/GC8EW84), I opted to detour through Cecil Plains after going through Dalby, and then returned east via Toowoomba. Who would have thought that regular geocache stopping would add so much time to the normal 5.5 hr drive? ?? With deteriorating weather in the late afternoon, it was time to then make the beeline home whilst getting a sneaky rain car wash along the way.Rolling up to this old church location, I had no idea what the hint meant i.e. what a Biretta was, but I did search through the typical hiding spots that Ive seen, and subsequently made the cache find (perhaps I now know what a Biretta is?). The cache container and logbook were in good shape, although there were plenty of ants building a nest inside/nearby the cache. Thanks griz066 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Headed west with the gang for a burger ... and a few old caches. And now heading home just T4mmmy and I spotted this one on the car GPS. Thanks to Fangsoki and friends for alerting us originally we made the quick stop and checked out the lovely old church - and a good find for us. Neat.
Thanks griz066 for entertaining me at this location.

1MinnieMoo decided to tackle these now-archived caches. Such a shame the cache owner lost the love for geocaching.
The map I first used for this one really failed. It wanted me to tromp past a couple grain silos and sheds which I wasn't really happy to do. Good old Open Street Maps told me a better story though - and we were soon pulling up at GZ.
It wasn't at the first place we tried - but it was the second. We soon signed the log and rehid the cache as found. It was in good condition. TFTC griz066

26/1/21 Find #4548
Fangsoki and I were doing the Australia Day rounds heading “a little country” for a day of adventure between Leyburn and Toowoomba. We knew of these recently archived caches, and decided we needed to go on the hunt.
I am going to add on to this log that we thoroughly enjoyed the CO’s previous two well executed gadget caches we did today, despite no longer being able to log them.
Driving here to this one, we took a very slightly wrong turn, and soon discovered ourselves a very cute little railway station, now listed as a historical location. I wish now I had hopped out of the car and had a bit more of a look around.
However we found our way back to where we needed to turn and headed around to this little church, where the cache was found in one of the spots we had guessed from the start.
Thanks for the cache griz066, and the previous ones. We really are sorry you have lost your love for this game, as it is obvious you certainly did enjoy it once upon a time.
Thanks for the cache griz066, have a favourite point for the previous caches and for the surprising little station discovery.

The cache owner has decided Geocaching is not what it used to be. It used to be fun now there are too many tree huggers running around the country side pretending to be cache police, and vandalising caches. I don't want any part of it any more.
Haha.. sure helps to know what you're looking for. I thought it was something to do with a handgun... Found by MrG...but I don't think he knew what it was either. TFTC and the education griz066.
Geo partner impressed with the COs knowledge of the RCC. Thanks for bringing us here.
This was hard to get to but perseverance won out. The caches in Cecil Plains are excellent as is the free camp ground and the meals and wine at the Victory.
We had time for a little caching as we travelled from Bathurst to Hervey Bay and back to see the whales. We thoroughly enjoyed both and are grateful for the caches which helped make the trip more enjoyable. Lovely church building.
We are on an eight day trip to Hervey Bay. We saw the most amazing wild creatures close up at Hervey Bay. Whales are ugly but still so wonderful. We also saw some beautiful countryside, although everywhere is in dire need of rain. Thanks for your cache which helped us take a break from driving and have fun at the same time. What a welcoming building!
Found it while on a trip back from Tamworth stayed the night great job to the locals
Arrived at GZ only to find a Sunday evening service in progress so we gave the search a miss. TFTC anyway will try again some other time.

Tuesday. This is the last day of our return journey after staying at Carnarvon Gorge for the International Earthcache Day. After googling what a Biretta was, we came up to GZ. With both Mr and Mrs SP pulling and tugging and not getting anywhere, it was Ruzzelz who said that he really did think the cache was ‘here’. So he used an object that was lying nearby and used it to help remove the Biretta and so allowing us to get to the cache!
This was the 10th of 25 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***griz066***, for showing us this place.

Hi there griz066.
We found your cache **"Biretta"** today. (This makes our find count 19516).
Today we cached around Cecil Plains. The secondary aim of the day was to cache along roads we haven't traveled since we became full time grey nomads. Once we've done that we can draw another line on our wall map).
We found 11 caches today (DNF'd 2) .We thoroughly enjoyed our cache raid. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Watch out for the church folk. Very very rude and did not let us on what should be publuc property
Signed this with Mum as 'Jess & Caro'. She is now Carø and I now have my own geocaching profile so we are sorting my logs for caches we found together. TFTC!
This was fun with a little competition between geok and geoc. Awesome quick find. Sorry for the late log. Thanks for the cache!
Off for a drive and a picnic for my birthday with Ranibaskale today. We went through Dalby, to Lake Broadwater for lunch, and then continued onwards along some other roads with geocaches yet unfound by us.
It is really fun when you have a fair idea of where a cache is going to be, but you don't tell the others in your group and just watch them wander about for some time... then tell them where you think it may be, and everyone races to find it first!
That's pretty much how this one went today, hehe.
Thanks for another neat cache, griz066!

TFTC. We left Kingaroy this morning taking advantage of a nice sunny day to drive to our overnight stopover in Millmerran.we stopped in Cecil Plains to stretch our legs and maybe find a cache or two.
A little friendly persuasion was required to access the cache.

Up early this morning as were are moving on to Texas, and I want to cache but Pa wants to be off the road by midday to avoid the worst of the heat.
Pulled up on the side of the highway and walked across to the GZ. Ah ha, that's what the hint is about. A quick grab, added my name to the log and replaced the cache where I found it.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to find Griz066.

Another quick find after a stroll past the old Cecil Plains raikway. Such a lovely little town tftc
Easy if you know what to look for. We sre enjoying these hides around Cecil Plains. TFTC
Loved the clue & description. Geohubby walked straight to, I thought we'd be looking for a lot longer. Not a soul in sight but lots of bird calls. Tnsl tftc griz066 xo
Hi there griz066 - while in Dalby we decided a day outing to Cecil Plains was in order so off we went. This cache was a quick find and sign before continuing our day. SL. This is our find #4695 - thanks to griz066 for this cache.

As it is a mid week day we did not expect to find anyone at the church and our guess was good, we had the place to ourselves. Yes, we knew what a biretta is so we started our hunt at the obvious. All was good, it took a little bit of a wriggle this way and that way to retrieve the cache as it had been returned 'not quite right'. SL T 1 x TB L N TFTC
My first cache on a day run with Youngoldfellow and Brother Colin. After some cooler weather we have a beautiful warm day for our drive. Clever hide. tftc
Staying at Millmerran for the Camp Oven Festival we took the opportunity to find some caches and this was one of them. A quick find here. Dropped TB.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

While in town for the Festival we noticed this series of caches on the way to Cecil Plains ,we love finding caches in a series and had a great afternoon with our fellow cachers ,thanks for placing them and apologise now for the generic logs TFTC
Camping in Cecil Plains for a couple of days while we wait for the Camp Oven Festival. Spending the day today chasing all the caches in the area.
While I did not get to google Biretta, I sort of knew where to look, and bingo, with a bit of force, had the cache to hand.
Thanks Griz066

I knew what the name meant being an Altar Boy in my younger years. Checked relevant objects within & beyond accuracy range but none would budge. One was scuef but ...photographed church for a waymark. Thanks.
Found after a nice camping trip at cecil plains homestead. Had a bit of a search than it clicked
After I checked with Mr Goggle and using a bit of common sense , we soon found where this cache was hidden . Thanks.
Stopped off in this quiet place, being quiet means a muggle free search, I had to look up what that mean't in my dictionary - then it was an easy find .
Signed logsheet 15/10/2015 1:50pm and replaced all as found.

Found the definition of the name but that didn't help me find the cache. Too clever for this lazy cacher
On return trip from FNQ, decided to have another attempt , success this time

On a mission to reach far north destination, this one beat us, no time to keep searching
Jondan2 and I went there nearly 6 months ago looked and looked no idea at all but this time I looked up what Biretta means and knew straight away so I went first one and nah second one and found and good one TFTC
Travelling around Australia in our Caravan with our cat.
After a great night with friends in Dalby it was time to move south today. We headed towards Milmerran but stopped for several hours in Cecil Plains. So glad we did. [^]
Enjoyed our visit to this town, exploring and finding the swimming pool, train station, golf course, cricket oval, Apex park. The cotton farms and bales, bush track driving. All caches bar 1 had good co-ords.
Checked the obvious here, but didnt locate the cache. Once google helped out rechecked and used some persuasion to find the cache.

bit tricky i kept looking were it was it was the first place i looked it was hard getting it of needed a pen and loosened it a bit found it with ...Valkyrja... and Bubgelf79
This one was a little difficult. Ended up having to use my pen as a tool to open the hiding spot. If you use a pen like I did, be careful not to stab yourself with it.
TFTC. Found with TeamBellingham and Bubgelf79

Found it after the GPS telling me I had walked passed it numerous times. Had to force it, thanks to Valkyrja for the use of her pen.
We are on a road trip heading to the ACT. We are towing our caravan and are enjoying traversing the back road where quite often there is an opportunity to stop and do a cache without being annoying to any other traffic. We have also based ourselves in Cecil Plains and Warialda and done some of the most enjoyable and creative caches we have ever done. We are so impressed with the standard of these caches. [^][^] Thanks to griz066.
We had an overnight stop here at Millmerrin. Up nice & early to find the caches in the Cecil Plains area.
What a great day we had, wonderfull caches found 14 in all & gave 5 favourite points. This is amazing for such a small town.
Started on the trees & then around the town, allwas so quiet at 8am in the morning.
Thought Biretta was a gun, luckily I had googled the word which helped with the find.

Found after a quick search.. Managed to see the cache fly onto the other side of the fence... Luck for the retrieval tool.. Lol
Was out and about today so did a Maintenance run on all my caches. I can confirm that this cache is in the original location and is in good condition. Happy hunting. Replaced the original container with a more robust one.
Just thought we should mention that the screwtop on the container needs replacing. It's not a major problem.
#333 - we knew exactly where to look but things seemed to be more protective than we imagined that they would be. tftc
Found with angloj after a fair hunt and some extra muscle power. TFTC

Found at 1045 with Marg. After walking to the GZ I had a idea where it would be but had to find a way to it. TFTC.
I knew what a biretta was, so was expecting a fairly easy find, and started on the obvious without success. The GPS was sending me all over the place which didn't help. I eventually returned to my first suspicion and with a bit of a struggle had the sneaky cache in hand TFTC Griz066
On the bike around Cecil today I headed across the tracks to find me this little cache
Fortunately I knew what a Biretta is
Yes I know it sounds like an Italian Scooter, but it is something else altogether
TFTC to cap off my bike ride today [^]

We did as suggested and googled biretta and once we got near GZ knew where it would be. TFTC
A lovely area. Hide was clever, but not too difficult once we deciphered the title. TFTC
After googling Biretta I knew where to look. Getting to the cache requires more force than I thought so wasn't sure if I was in the right spot at first.
The cache container does not screw together any more. Thread seems damaged or cracked.

9416 kms travelled in 21 days, one awesome eclipse observed near Mt Carbine in Northern Queensland and 712 cache finds, including a small handle of FTF's.
This was a trip I'd been planning for over 12 months with the main reason being to observe the solar eclipse on the morning of the 14th of November. I had decided to drive to Palm Cove and back, where my penthouse accommodation was located, while the rest of the family flew up and back. I love the drive and the unknown adventures that lay ahead; and I even think the last time I did one this big may have been for the previous eclipse in Australia which occurred over SA.
Apart from the great experiences, awesome scenery, and the characters met, the other reason to drive was to also do some serious caching, with the plan to stop at some power trails along the way including the Fruit Run and A.S. series near Stanthorpe on the way up and the Mid North Coast Wander series, just out of Port Macquarie, on the way back.
I had five days to travel each way with ten days in between spent in Palm Cove holidaying with my family. My route up took me from Melbourne to Tocumwal and up to Glenn Innes, through Toowoomba, Rockhampton and the coast road to Cairns while my route back was a bit more erratic. Heading from Cairns to Townsville then via Charters Towers to Rockhampton. From here it was through the amazing mining region to Roma then across to Dalby down through Stanthorpe (again) to Armidale, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga, Tocumwal and then home - phew.
Today I made my way from Roma, through Dalby and Millmerran and onto do some more of the A.S. series out of Stanthorpe that had been added; before crashing in the car in a great little spot I found just off the New England Hwy somewhere south of Tenterfield.
I knew what to look for before arriving at GZ and my thoughts were confirmed once I got there. The only problem was the storm that had just hit was pretty angry and by now there were branches and leaves flying past me. I was already wet from the previous cache so I just jumped out and started looking for the hide. A quick return to the car to get a bit of help and I soon had the cache and was scribbling on the log sheet. Thanks griz066.
