was able to solve this one in advance, always helps, for once a hint that is perfect for me, once the gps settled it was in for the quick find, tftc
Cool movie, and great story, a nice fun cache to find on the way to the nearby event today, TFTC
I remember the film with Anthony Hopkins about Burt. Now the statue too Multi was solved and found. All in order. Thanks!
A plan was hatched quite a while ago when the Dunedin Mega was announced to come over to the South Island again.I have only been to New Zealand twice before and I loved the South Island. So a chance to come back for a Mega was a no brainer for me.Everything was booked and I flew in last Saturday after a bit of a delay. So now in Invercargill for a couple of days and today so going to be a few caches and Ad Labs.So Day 12 started off with a bit of rain and a bitterly cold wind but a walk through the gardens will hopefully warm me up.The reason I came down to Invercargill after the Mega was to visit the Burt Munro exhibits. And here I am standing at a great statue of the man himself.I have watched the movie a few times and I had to come and visit the place.Did some maths and soon had a GZ and off I went to find this one.A fav for showing me his statue. Thanks southlandicebergs TFTMC.
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we are in Invercargill visiting family & friends went for a bit of a drive this afternoon to complete a few Mysteries Caches and ended up at Queens Park as we needed to go for a walk couldnt resist the opportunity to complete this Milti-Cache it turned out to be easy find - once we re-read the directions correctly & then re-did the math correctly Doh! log book completed & then safely returned to its position Mrs McMike2012 thought that this deserved a Favourite Point, so here it is were pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS this was #6,188 for us!
Now has a cache house. Same place as before. Do the maths and observations right on the bike and it will be easy to find container.
container missing. now eating mints for a new container. I may house it better.
Out with Natalie247 on a retail trip. But disappointed we couldn't find this after solving the multi and looking everywhere in the end. Although on a brighter note... I found a $50.00 note! Wow! My lucky day! So we spent it in Invercargill on our dinner across the road at the caravan. Will have to come back to put a smiley back here.
A bit of a later find, this evening. I had sorted coords out on a previous trip but there were people at GZ. Tonight was different and it wasn't too long before I had a cache in my hands. Thanks for the multi TFTC southlandicebergs, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 find(s) of 6 today, making this find #4371
A fantastic long weekend in the south with lots of caches! I am grateful to all CO's for keeping me entertained for hours!
I visited the day before, but could not make sense of the location. I recalculated something, and it ended up being an easy find! TFTC!!
South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - MEGA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!

Did the calls but couldn't find the cache. Will have to recheck and come back another day.
Enjoyed walking around the park in the sun with my family and then we found this cache, TFTC
Tftc!! Always love queens park. Had measurements correct second time around lol. After using hint as well
Somehow I seem to get this all wrong as I always get the distance all wrong. Today I decided to extend out from where I was and it was then a quick find to a tidy cache.
Found it today- got the required measurements. Few ppl around carpark, but no problems at all. TFTC
Great to find this after a DNF. -many thanks for replacing it. And great to be back in this part of the country again. wombats_4 and TDronsfield are joining us today so help us find the caches. Many thanks ladies.
Day 5 of the Loopppiiieee Tour (top to bottom, east to west). We are targeting the TWGTs for GraciesGPSfun; as well as the PWGT, CANZ, D/T and some oldie caches for both of us, as well as driving many kilometres AND, just as important, seeing the sights of the South Island and having a lot of fun. TFTC southlandicebergs.

Out and about with wombat_4 and TDronsfield for a day of caching. Great start here with quick find tftc
We spent the morning at the Transport museum and then called into E Hayes store to see Burt's bike. In the afternoon we decided to have a walk around Queen's park and pulled up right next to this statue. Hadn't planned to do much geocaching today, but as we were right there stopped to do this one.
We did the calculation and GPS pointed the direction, but must have misunderstood the details as it seemed to put us a lot closer than where we found the cache, seemed like we needed to double our figure again? TFTC.

i had several tins at home spare so did not have to buy and eat quickly. I may modify the home of container sometime if this one goes.
Another club member doing the geocaching honour.
MH. We went to Burts Bike and wrote down some numbers and calculated them to get a measurement in metres. Then stepped it out and found the cache.
(Her log edited as too much spoilers)

With the CO, firekitten, geoman.
JC. Looking for numbers calculating them and found a cache
RV. Looked for numbers with torches. Found it.
AR. We added all the numbers and did calculations.
Cache in good condition but needs a plastic log bag. Tftc

On a PWGT expedition to the deep south with rustynz, rebel98, gorby and boneybruce. Great fun down here, great caches and an awesome visit to Stewart Island as well. TFTC!!!
Came in darkness with some other Westies. A bit of a search, but happy to earn a smiley. Thanks for the multi
Way too many muggles around on my first attempt so came back for round 2 and snagged it easy as. TFTC!
I arrived in Invercargill today to have a holiday exploring some of Southland and Stewart Island. There was a plaque missing but someone had handily written the required information on the exposed plastic, tftc!
Been out and about and all over the place chasing Geo tour caches, but others kept getting my attention. Thanks so much for another smiley and for bringing me to somewhere I’ve never been before. Cheers.
Found this really confusing. Gave up and just used the hint to find.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

We are doing a whirlwind tour of the South Island finding the PWGT caches. We had hoped to get over to Stewart Island but with the howling wind we decided to give it a miss. So we had a wee bit of spare time. We came to have a look around some of this park and noticed this multi.
We thought we had sorted the numbers and went to have a look at an area that sort of fitted the hint. But no cache to be found there.
It was cold, it was windy and we were getting grumpy so I phoned a friend who had found it previously.
Turned out to be a case of we should have looked with a bit more effort. Suddenly we realised what we had not spotted. More numbers worked out and we soon had the cache in hand. We signed the log and returned it as we found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Wasn’t sure about including the non-obvious numbers, but almost irrelevant due to the calculation. Took a few minutes to get brain into gear at both puzzle & hide but overall fairly quick. Thanks for another cache and bringing me to Burt’s memorial!
Cache 613 This one took me longer than I’d like to admit to find. When I saw the words mint tin I immediately thought magnetic................. anyway cache wasn’t to far from my projected coordinates but the hint helped a lot needed this cache for my last wonder of the world “giant red spot” and that completes all 4 wonders series for me YAY , cache is in excellent condition T4TM
When i last visited Inver.. 40+ years ago we visited the motor bike etc etc and went out to the beach and drove along it and i even went in the water for a very quick swim Brrr. a bit cooler than the N. Island beaches ! so i did want to do this puzzle cache, i knew time was against me doing the lab cache, The sculpture was not here on our earlier visit but today armed with my compass etc it was soon solved and the cache was in hand.
thank you very much for this cache. I took a photo which i will log some time later.

Arrived here at the end of the Burt Munro adventure cache. We decided it was too hot to go to the bonus cache but this was much more to our liking. This lead us to an exciting game of cricket next door. All in the cool shade of Queen's Park.
Found a nearby carpark and headed over to the bike. Sat down and calculated the answers then headed off to the projected final. After a fruitless search back we went to Burt and double checked everything. Saw an obvious mistake and armed with corrected co-ords it didn't take long until cache was in hand. tftc
Arrived back from Steward Island (had an amazing time) to spend the night in town before flying back home the next day. This morning I enjoyed a yummy brunch and some more geocaching. ~6 month back I saw the movie and it was great to see this place. TFTC
Visited Burt to get the required information with Spoonz2 and Debsnz. Soon had the cache in hand. Tftc
This was our first stop on our park explorations. My extended family have connections with the man himself, so have heard a lot about Burt Monroe over the years. With a lot of help from Wilbywarrior this was found quickly. Also found with Debsnz.
Decided that with overseas trips on hold to spread out my annual leave and take a long weekend away from Dunedin. It was a chance to head to down and see some caching friends and go out caching in an area which is very green on the app map.
As it was a second lovely day with a warm wind and a duck race to attend, I spent the morning going around Queens Gardens and surrounding area for the adventure labs and some of the multis.
Thanks to all of the COs, I smashed out the last 100 points (and more) for the memory lane souvenir collection.

Walked past Burt today to check on his isolation lockdown and took this picture
Out exploring Queen Park, it is raining and cold. But I am all wrapped up and wearing my waterproof jacket and trousers.
This will be a long day walking around this amazing park. I had been in Invercargill (20/10/19) with a group of Westies, but that time had limited time.
This time just a little more, so exploring while I can
Calculations where done, and for some reason they were coming up short. So decided to look for something obvious in the general direction and went straight to the cache.
Nice find, thanks for the multi southlandicebergs, I had wanted to do this cache last time, and today I did

The first time we came here there were council garden workers in the general area and we were unable to widen our search from where our calculations took us. Second time round we widened our search another 10 meters and used hint instead of calculations. Tftmc
Our 2nd time here, first time we gave up as we were running out of time and calculations had us nowhere a corner. Back again today and this time we used geosense and made the find
As my hostel is close to that park, I did a little walk around in the late afternoon. Nice park and nice caches here. TFTC
We are into our final week of our 5 week road trip in NZ, it’s been wonderful, greetings from Washington state. I tried to work on this cache on Leap Day with no success. I have to admit to help with this one from two local cachers. Super excited to have seen this memorial to Burt as we loved the movie about him- have watched it several times. Even if I had not found this cache I would have been happy to have been here and seen the statue. TFTC
Round the world trip Made it to New Zealand and will be traveling all around the Islands. After arriving in Invercargill yesterday I will do some caching around this area
Thanks for bringing up this cache!
Vielen Dank fürs legen und pflegen und beste Grüße aus Leipzig!
Thanks for hiding and many greetings from Leipzig/Germany!

While wandering through the park span85 walked straight to this one, signed with Iroquoispilot. Grand daughters were hiding and finding rocks.
This multi was mastered in teamwork. We had an unsuccessful attempt, but then the petling was in our hands as well.

Together with TEMBO! I had a really interesting geocaching-trip today. We could find some geocaches, met some locals and had a great talk to them.
Concerning this geocache I want to say thanks because we had much fun in searching and finding this geocache! The cache made our trip even more interesting!

I liked the statue. We found it despite it maths, lol. Jude-E and I are on a geocaching trip to the deep south. We are flying back home to Christchurch on the late afternoon. I love Geo art so we are concentrating on the big I, anything else is a bonus. Thanks southlandicebergs for placing this geocache 8025 find for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.

Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Day 3 of a 3 day caching venture with Nosynel. Today's goal is the Big I. Did that so onto a few others. Oh dear, our maths was not up to it but geocaching sense kicked in and we found it! Hooray. Or Phew! Thanks!

A nice quick find today. Burt has a real presence in Invercargill. Cheers.
Time to have a holiday road trip, and today we started the road home, via Alexandra, to collect a few TMGT and other caches.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Wow! Fountains, statue, and a superb display of white, pink, pinker and red wine colored tulips. And a cache. Not too hard to get, under the nose of a muggle doing stretches. And now. ....
Chocolate time! Tftc

#250 - 28/08/2019 10:54 - after some calculations we, 10anna10 and me, found the cache.
I was pointing in the wrong direction but 10anna10's intuit brought us to the right spot.

While waiting for the meet up today I dropped by and grabbed this one also TFTC MATM
Tried for this a couple of weeks ago but thought had miscalculated. I had but had also searched where I found it today. Thanks for replacing.
A rained in day quick outing to find this one.Nice new cache replacement, had to loiter a bit to return to hide tftc
Dang. Counted, calculated and started walking to GZ when some boy racers arrived and made camp in the adjacent car park. Never mind, another time.
An interesting memorial which we were aware of the story due to the movie made not so long ago. While we were admiring the statue a helpful local told us that we could see the original bike just around the corner at Hayes and Sons. We did some mathematics, projected a waypoint and soon had the cache container in hand.
**This was 1 of 22 caches that was found by me on the 6th of 19 days in New Zealand.**
**Which also was the 59th of 75 days that my travels thru southeast Asia and Oceania would last.**
Here it was the earthcache that took me to this location. But since I needed an multi cache on this date I visited this one first.
*During 19 days I traveled from Christchurch to Auckland in an SUV, that i also slept in during most of the nights. 5.956 km of driving did it take to visit the 351 caches that I have marked as found in c:geo.*
*Earthcaches was my main focus during the stay. And I manage to visit 106 of them. So New Zealand is right now the only country where earthcaches are my most found cache type .*

Great to see this sculpture and complete the cache. Best wishes from Western Australia
Found while out walking around Queen's Park, and seeing everyone dressed up. Love the movie, so really wanted to solve this multi. Got the numbers easily, and then looked around and saw the most logic please for a cache. Quickly found, but oh no, I don't have a pen! Took photo of log book.
We really couldn't follow what we were supposed to get from the description ut we followed our geosense with the aid of the hint and had this pretty quickly. Tftc.
After a visit at the museum (which we can totally recommend) we had a look for another cache. It should take not too long. This Multi seemed perfect for this purpose.
It took a while to work out the coordinates (couldn't take brainwork anymore after the museum)
The little container at GZ was quickly found.
Thanks for showing! Tftc

Trying to finish off caches around Queens Park, so took a look at this one. Was not sure which numbers I should include or not in the calculation, but eventually had something good enough and spotted the hide. TFTC!
Caching in Invercargill and nearby area for the day.
Loved being brought to this site - love the movie and the history. Must have got numbers wrong but using common sense found a logical hiding spot and there it was!

After a half day of travelling and a visit to Bluff we had enough time for a nice walk through the city. We let the geocaches lead us. Ending with 11 founds.
All CO's thanks for giving us a nice afternoon and a lot of information about what we have seen.

After a nice meal out, we decided to get a couple of caches making use of the long twilight hours. A nice little multi. Gathering the info was straightforward just had to make sure to collect ALL the numbers. After that the find was quick and easy. TFTC
