#14858 10:40What better way to spend a sunny Sunday than in the good company of friends for some geocaching.A quick find.OCW Everest High, Martin Cousins and Gavingo4.TFTC Toriaz
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. Ll
GPS was bouncing around a bit this morning so I had to use a bit of common sense and experience. Soon had the cache in handTftc
Quick find while grabbing an AL waypoint location, too early for the museum to be open
Visited the museum just before it closed, made the last train ride nice to have this one ticked off as we have been eying it off every time we visit the BMs Tftc
Gps coordinates were a bit off. We found the cache on my gymnastics day. There was no pen but luckily we had one!
I’m visiting Sydney from Brisbane and came up to the Blue Mtns today to catch up with old friends. I arrived early by train so that I could find a couple of caches. Quick find in obvious spot. All good here. Tftc
80th Road trip back out west towards Bathurst and Oberon. Growing up in the Blueis (Winmalee, Springwood, Valley Heights) means caching is a great way to revisit old stomping grounds. Toured here once before it was even a museum, remember looking at the sight when they looked at the site to see what would be needed to establish a museum.
Back in the day, it was a storage yard for 46 class locos. ANd what is with the school opposite?
JABs.

After visiting & logging the cache yesterday, today (day 3) we headed back up to Valley Heights to visit the Railway Museum on it's second Sunday of the month open day. We all really enjoyed our museum visit and steam train ride, and so will drop a Favourite point on the cache in recognition. Thanks Toriaz for bringing us here.
We are on another short (three day) caching holiday in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, staying for two nights in a park cabin at the Ingenia Nepean River BIG4 Holiday Park at Emu Plains. Hoping to collect the latest GFA puzzle & Wherigo caches around Luddenham & Wallacia, a leftover WGA puzzle cache at Warragamba, some leftover PGA puzzle caches at Penrith, two Adventure Labs in the lower Blue Mountains, plus any other caches we happen upon during our travels.
When we booked the holiday cabin a month ago there was no predictions of the flooding rains that the area was to experience during the past week, so we are unsure of exactly what of the previously planned caching locations will actually be accessible on this trip. This was our 7th find of the day (day 2), and 17th find of the holiday.
Arrived at the gates of the railway museum and made a nice quick find of the cache container. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. The museum is closed today, but it's open tomorrow, being the second Sunday of the month, and we will be back then for a visit. TFTC Toriaz.

Doing the Labcache I saw this one was there too. The hint was helpful and the search went quickly Thanks for the cache.
Easy find. Good on a day with no muggles. Love the history lesson for the kids. TFTC
Found this cache with chateaupatto on 19/8/21. It is in need of TLC as it was wet inside and log book was soaking.
Logged another cache when it should have been this one, The log was still a bit soggy. TYFTC
Up working in the area today and made a find before heading to get my jab of the fizer. Not singable as previously mentioned. Tftc
Log soaked. Whacked in a dry piece of paper (won't last long I expect) and tried to dry the cache tissues. Might need a new log. Replaced where found.
An awesome day of Caching in the Blue Mountains. A quick an easy grab by stokesywa working as a team alongside Mystic Seer.
TFTH TFTC SL Replaced back where found ready for next Geo adventurers. Cache is in good condition.

We have never stopped in valley heights before so we had a great time going for a walk and seeing a new place

As previous logs suggest it is found approx 11m from marked coordinates TFTC
Parked the car and headed off in the wrong direction (according to the other person in the car who was wanting to get back to Sydney in a hurry).
Changed tack and searched in the suggested area and found the cache.

First I checked where my Garmin had GZ; the roadside embankment. As beside the road didn't seem a suitable place for a cache, I read more about it and then headed to the retaining wall, about 11 metres off my GPS's coordinates. I read further and concentrated my search outside the gate. However I eventually found the cache inside the gate area. It is now outside the gate, so it can be found when the gate is closed, in what seems a logical place. You wrote, "The cache is not located on the museum grounds and can be accessed even if the museum is closed." The cache now matches that. I hope the hide is correct. The coordinates I saw on my GPS at where I placed the cache were: S 33° 42.162 E 150° 34.745.

DNF 3 of 4 caches visited today in Valley Heights. The coords point it to the road side of the entrance, but a previous photo suggested next to the gate. Either way I could not find it today
If I'd taken more notice of the hint it would not have taken me so long. Oh well got there in the end and I suppose that's what counts. TFTC

Thank you Toriaz for bringing me here. I had no idea this railway museum existed. I was returning to Sydney very early this morning, so the museum wasn't open, unfortunately. But I'll be back.

Solved several puzzle caches some time ago & today on a trip to Springwood and surrounds it was time to claim them and did this while passing. After a short search cache was in hand as it was exposed. Replaced as found as no evidence of any cammo near it. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Easy little park and grab - the second around. Had a quick look the other day as part of a streak without success. No wonder as it was not there. First in the new cache log though. TFTC
Stopped for a cache check after dropping Monkey Girl at acrobatics. Couldn’t find the container, so left a replacement.
This was our first one, we thought "lets get out and get moving!" So we walked across the road about 50 meters and BAM!! GEOCACHING!
My gps was telling me it is about 12m away but the hint is spot on. I met some of the keen volunteers at the museum last weekend and will have to make a visit when it is open.

A very good park and grab cache. Worth coming when the museum is open but watch out for muggles
Hubby jonasani found this one - having some height was definitely helpful....TFTC
Easy find! Remember what the cache description says! You can get to it even if the museum is closed!
Fun finding a cache jus after someone leaves.

Continuing my walk around Valley Heights, I walked further along Tusculum Road and soon spotted the sign for the Railway Museum. It was appropriate that I came here as I'd come to Valley Heights by train. From the google maps satellite view it looks like a really interesting spot but sadly it was closed today. (Have to come back!)
Once at GZ I looked at where the GPS wanted me to search, not where I wanted to search. After a mental tussel with myself, follow the GPS or my idea, I won and looked where I thought a cache should be hidden and of course there it was!
Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where I found it.
