This one was in a nice easy find on our walk up to the start of the Lenah Valley walking trail this afternoon, however, signing the log was really tricky. Log is saturated. Need to return and have a look for the others in this series when the GeoGSP and I have a bit more time up our sleeve, so will bring a new log on our return trip. Thanks for the cache though Budgietas, it's a nice little walking trail beside the creek - but there is absolutely no sun in this valley, it was freezing!

13-May-17
Needs maintenance, log soaked.

23-Mar-17
Anice walk and a great stroll for a cache.

10-Oct-16
Log was soaking wet so i signed on a new piece of paper. It's anyones guess how long that one will stay dry. Thanks very much.

20-Sep-16
I can't believe this one took only 15 seconds to find. What luck! I have only found 2 in the series. The others have illuded me. Cache is too damp to sign but I took a photo.... I also put my hands on a lovely slug. Thanks again. I'll be back on another day to find the others.

08-Sep-16
Found this one just as night fell - very mouldy and wet. Needs a good clean and a new log. Tftc Smile

25-Apr-16
Today I was walking past during daylight and stopped to tie my shoe. Traffic was relatively heavy but I found a gap between the pooches taking their owners for a walk.

The locals have previously taken great interest on night time visits. Either their baking dog or just noticing dim torch light has resulted in being in the spotlight. Literally.

15-Apr-16
Once again our GPSr's are now behaving properly (though they again returned to lies & fibs back at #4 on our return). Thanks for the lovely walk Budgietas. As we enjoyed the area so much, we returned to the car back at the multi, drove up to the end of the road & continued on from there into rather hairier country.

Too ages to find this one. Dogs enjoying the sun. Finally found with relief. Now back to find the ones we missed.

23-Feb-15
The coordinates didn't put us too far from GZ, then just used the cache brain to find the obvious hide. Thanks for a great series, a lovely walk in a beautiful place!

23-Feb-15
Located gz, looked around for best place to hide a cache a found it about 4m from gz Tftc Smile

06-Jan-15
It's clear that a lot of time and effort went into constructing this great series. Inaccuracies in some of the coordinates had me frustrated with lengthy searches at what would otherwise have been quick finds. This was the case at this final hide. Such a straightforward hide but my GPSr was clearly having a bad afternoon since it's 8m reading at GZ was an indication of the number of places I searched before eventually locating the cache. Now for the long hobble back to the bus. Thanks for this cache Budgietas. I hadn't solved any of the plentiful quantity of puzzle caches in this area so that was it for me for another glorious day in Hobart.

13-Nov-14
Got it today on our third visit, dogs still barking. Thanks Budgietas we really enjoyed this series, beautiful walking track and area. TFTC.

Unable to find this one. Will havee to try again another day.

14-Sep-14
Approached gz when we came across another couple of cachers, ausandaus2. We soon began to all search when they called out that they had found it! We all singed and had a chat about geocaching! TFTC! Found with ryanofoz and ausandaus2.

14-Sep-14
Found with Fuzzej. Met fellow geocachers Ausandaus2 searching for this one on their 2nd attempt. Very helpful couple!

13-Sep-14
Returned today for another look, hoping that the local yappa would be asleep - but no, he appeared out of nowhere and was joined by another one!! Despite their non stop barking we continued to search, covering the same area as last time, without any luck. We are always mindful of muggles using this track but this time we were caught unawares - but luckily for us we were being watched by a lovely young couple of cachers from Melbourne. After introductions and a bit of chit chat we all continued to search again. aus widened the search area and the coords were to 2 metres. From here aus2 quickly had the cache in hand. The log was signed by all and then some more enjoyable conversation before heading off.
Thanks for this cache Budgie and a favourite from us for the series.

23-Aug-14
Teamed up with ausandaus2 today but no luck for us

09-Mar-14
Coordinates had me looking in completely the wrong place. Eventually found it but I would suggest considering the "entire" area.

09-Mar-14
Cache zombified. Like others the gps was way out but a nudge had me looking in the right place for a quick find. Tftc and the series budgietas.

Having no luck with no 2 in this series I decided to work backwards. My guess proved more accurate than the GPS this time. TFTC

Gps was thrown off a bit of that one. Have come up here before to find it with no luck, but this time we had to think outside the box. Clever.

16-Jan-14
Managed to find this one today. Took a couple of visits but discovered we were looking in the wrong direction! TFTC

12-Jan-14
the finish of a good series thanks

11-Jan-14
It was time to finish this series (except number one that is still out of action). GPS (by2) was very definite where it wanted us to go. We struggles for a while and upset a local dog, then a man came to check on things. I headed back to the car while the egg and kids searched. I have to admit we 'phoned a friend' who provided some guidance. Upon return, with the dog quiet we were able to locate number 7 and head up the creek for some lunch.
Looking forward to the return of number 1 so we can compete this series.

Coordinates were quiet off for this one, daddycacher looked where gps led us while mummycacher looked a little further away and found.

What a stunning spot. The first half of the Geo_junkies clan jumped out to have a look. Could not find it and sent the rest in for an extra set of eyes.

Soon the cache was in hand and log signed. GeoSon Snr was so excited to see the river and got really excited at the prospect of getting more caches along this fabulous river.

We are glad that the MONA was shut to enable us to have this little morning adventure down this lovely little river.

took us a while but found it after we realised this one wasnt like the others

23-Sep-13
Finally we can log the last one in this series. Yes, it has taken us 4 trips to do this one. Hanging around someone's driveway, particularly at night has been a bit suss. It took a bit of directional input from Whitewebbs to finally hone in on the cache. In fact it only took a few minutes to eliminate a couple of possibilities before the cache was retrieved. Thanks for an awesome series Budgie!! TFTC.

I can claim a real find on this one as the cache was different when found with mum & dad (kirdonnemo).
On my way home from my best friends house, we stopped for me to get this cache as part of my scouts geocaching challenge and a souvenir for a day in August.

Had to do this as I was coming down the hill as there were walkers right where they shouldn't be when I was riding up. A quick find after addiing a jumper and having a drink. Thanks! I've just realised I didn't even look for #1!

Having seen some very good hides today i stood and had a think before even looking for this one, and it paid off the first place i looked i had the cache in hand.

Its been a great day out caching and its nice to see some good hides some easy for me others very hard and needed a second look, thanks to Budgie for putting these out.

Thanks for the cache

I thought that I was on a role; previous New Town Rivulet Track finds today did not take too long. This one was a bit different. The GPSR would not stabilise. It indicated that the cache was 1 or 2 metres away so I made a good but fruitless search. By that time the indicated distance had changed to 10 or 12 metres so off again I went. This pattern was repeated several times but eventually the cache was found. Thanks for the series Budgietas, a frustrating but eventually satisfying exercise.

We could pretend the replacement cache and sheet was a new one as it was blank, cool, a first to find

#2791
Day 3 of a 3 day Tasmanian Adventure
Having done some of the tourist attractions on the first couple of days today was an emphasis on geocaching and some of the recommendations made to me by the locals.

Having spent forever looking for number 4, meeting up with MakkyBrown and both of us still DNFing. I returned to the car for a spot of lunch and at the same time, move it up the hill for the remaining three.
Met up with MakkyBrown again who was a little disgruntled at yet more DNFs in the series.
I've seen this kind of cache before so knew exactly what to do and where to do it.
Removed the papermaché, it really was unsaveable and to think that there was probably only one or two signatures on it. Replaced with a strip of notepad and ensured that it sealed tightly before I left. Hope this log fairs better.

Thanks for the cache.

LTF.

Replaced the papermache with a small scrap of notepad. There's obviously some water ingress problem although it could well be the previous finder didnt seal fully

Nice quick and easy walk on a lovely day while visiting geodaughter and partner, thanks for bringing us here.
Found with scottymyth and Ainstar and another clever hide. We really didn't want to touch at first!

Had a free moment to find this one today and after checking previous logs i had a rough idea where it might be after last times failed attempt. Unfortunately the log book is very wet so i attempted to dry out the logbook and wrapped the "container" in tape TFTC!!

Called by today and replaced the log book.

We went south today for a spot of caching. Our first stop was the New Town Rivulet Track. On arrival at GZ for this cache, something looked a little odd. Closer inspection revealed the cache in an excellent hide. the cache and its contents were in very good condition.

Thank you budgietas for an excellent caches in a very lovely area. We enjoyed the variety of cache types and the variety of hides (yes, even the "Red Terra"). Surprisingly the area was devoid of muggles when we visited making our searches so much easier. A very well thought out and implemented series - sincere thanks budgietas.

09-Sep-12
We were somewhat sad to reach this spot, as it signalled the end of a fun series. We located the cache without too much trouble and the local and visiting muggles didn't really cause us too much trouble at this location. Now that we are home and logging the caches, we have discovered that we could have found many hints in some of the logs that we hadn't seen - but really, it was more fun to hunt the caches down with fewer clues! Many thanks Budgie for taking the time to put out a wonderful series. It took sus two and a quarter hours to walk the track and find the caches - with the great majority of that time having been spent at number 3!!

02-Sep-12
didnt have enough time to wait for the gps to settle so will have to try again another day, have enjoyed the whole series, a lovely walk for the first weekend of spring would never have walked up this track if it wasnt for the hides thanks

14-Aug-12
A qquick find once my GPSr settled.
the log is getting wet and making it difficult to read the finders.
Thanks

08-Aug-12
This one broke the trend of the previous caches in this series a little, but after a quick look at the GPS thingy, I headed for a site that seemed like a suitable candidate and literally walked up, grabbed and walked back to the car with it for GeoParents to sign even before they had gotten out of the car. Although I've never actually found one of these before, I have spent a lot of time researching cache types before placing my own hides and so have seen these on YouTube before... Was happy to finally put one on my found list.

TFTC and the really excellent series. A favorite point from me too. I'll be back to get the last two in the series when I can get away from the mainland again.

Found on my excellent Tassie vacation with Sylken.

08-Aug-12
Geodaughter had this one in hand in a matter of seconds....she had seen a similar hide in South Australia.

This series was recommended to us by "biggles58". Found with geodaughter "Karopi" who had to be at the airport in two hours time. Thought we'd do as many as we could before hareing off to catch a plane. Unfortunately couldn't afford the time to walk the track but guessed it would be very pleasant if we'd had the time.

This has been a fun series to do and we thank Budgietas for the time, effort, and imagination put into it. A favourite point from us [^][^][^]

02-Aug-12
The GPS took us one way but the cache was in the other. We had to search a bit for this one but it was soon out of it's hide and with the log signed we took nothing and left nothing. Another sneaky hide this one and not what was expected. Another favourite point for this one. Loved this series thanks for the challenge, SL, TNLN, TFTC

02-Aug-12
Sometimes the grass is always greener on the other side...cheers Budgietas for what has been my favourite series of hides so far

01-Aug-12
Very clever hide Budgietas!, you are getting more and more cunning in your old age Big Grin. Thanks for a great series that I still haven't completed but I will be back. Big Grin

01-Aug-12
This was a very clever hide well done Smile tftc

22-Jul-12
To me this was about the easiest find in the series. GPS had me pointed to the correct side of the road but as we had to park up the road a bit I walked back down watching the numbers decrease. Once over the road from GZ i called swampy down the road a bit further. I handed him the GPS and while he was looking at it I walked straight to GZ and straight to the cache. As i have seen one of these before it was an easy spot. Not so easy to get the log out though. Eventually Swampy was able to get the log out so we could sign it....next problem my pen didnt want to write on the paper but finally got that done to. Cacahe replaced and off we went. Thanks for the cache and the series.

22-Jul-12
It seems that Tim Tam is getting better at spotting caches as she had this one in hand before I had worked out which way to dance with the GPSr.
Took some lateral thinking to remove the log as it was in there fairly tight.
Thanks budgie for the cache and the series.

20-Jul-12
I needed a distraction while my baby was having an orientation session at the place he will be starting daycare next week, and this series fit the bill nicely!

Just as I was getting worried we might DNF this one, the husband made the find. Thank you for the cache!

10-Jul-12
With a confused GPS and no hint, and even less idea consulted the other logs and soon got a better idea that was 12-14m from we're I had been looking, found it quickly then.

The plastic paper used for the log seems to have let a fair number of the entries be rubbed off.

04-Jul-12
We had two reasons for walking up beside New Town Creek today; one was to deposit three moveable caches we had recently picked up from Knocklofty. The other was to locate the New Town Rivulet Track series. We started near New Town Rivulet Track #3, which was quickly found by Sue, despite getting her feet wet crossing the creek. The tiny little “Leaps the Frog” was dropped off near here.

It was then on upstream to #4 where we looked about a bit before Peter spotted a bit of tatty old plastic in a tree, which really was just rubbish, but it did lead his eye to spot the real thing.

Upstream further was the one described by some logs as a bit scary and it does have the sub title of “Deadly Peril”; #5. Although Peter knew full well that it was not real, he nevertheless still jumped a bit when he looked closely in the hidey spot.

Well so far so good, but we came crashing down on #6. On reaching GZ both the sub title “Straight Six” and the GPS had us looking at the obvious, but after spending time looking and poking in all the crannies we gave up and went on to #7.

It was at #7 that a lot of time was spent searching, but to no avail. Peter even inspected with a little stick a white plastic object that he thought was a condom. Surely not he said, but Sue told him it really was a balloon, but still highly unlikely. Then along came a woman jogger who asked are you geocaching. Yes was the reply and when we told Dippedidooda we were stumped, she helpfully suggested we look on the other side of the road. When we got over there Sue said it couldn’t be that could it, and yes it was.

We also asked Dippedidooda for a hint on #6 and she very kindly helped there too. Before looking we first went on to hide the other moveables taken from Knocklofty “Woodleigh Gnome” and “Touring Teddies”. However what we figured was a thorough search back at #6 still came up with nothing. We then walked back downstream to #2 when Dippedidooda came jogging back, so we said we still had no luck at #6. Dippedidooda jogged back up to look and reported that yes it was still there and gave us a very good description of where to look. Sure enough, there the minute thing was and thankfully we could tick the box. It would have been awfully embarrassing to have failed again.

By the way Budgietas you have got this one marked as temporarily disabled so you can re-enable it.

Well back to where we left off at #2 and Sue quickly spotted an object that she was definitely not going to touch, even knowing it was not an alive specimen. So who gets the credit for this little beauty, Sue for spotting it or Peter for being brave enough to touch it.

Last was #1 and it did not take long to find, although Sue did say it was not a cache but something left behind by a schoolboy. Try as we might, the log couldn’t be extracted though. Must take tweezers in future.

16-Jun-12
After much poking around in wrong spots I eventually wandered over to the right spot where the cache was obvious (for a cacher). GPS was all over the place here.

09-Jun-12
This one took a lot of finding not where I would expect to look

08-Jun-12
Sorry but the sight of this cache made me swear as I pondered what the geo it was. Lucky for me it was the cache. Great hide. Fantastic series!!!!

06-Jun-12
We've had 2 previous tries at this one, but both were after dark with the gps playing loop the loop.
Geodad gave it another valiant attempt today in daylight.
Gps still looping madly but a determined search gave the last one in the series for us.
Geodad particularly appreciated this container so a favourite from us.
TFTC Budgietas & the whole series, loved it. And congrats on reaching 1500 at Bolt Wink

PS On the way, geodad spied julesdireen at no 4 so he stopped & offered a bit of advice.

04-Jun-12
Well, I reached the final point and still was having trouble getting a fix. The dog was barking and my confidence had hit an all-time low. Today I had to be satisfied with 2 out of 7. Not a good score at all. Therefore I must return at another time soon. I might need to bring Mrs G51 as she has sharper eyes than I do.

04-Jun-12
First of all, I thought I'd try climb a tree as budgie likes to hide them high. But the foot hold broke out, I fell backwards on my bum and then hit my head on the boulder behind. Not a good start to the finish...after a minute I was OK, and it must have knocked some sense into me, as then I just wandered on over and found the cache. A very neat hide. The home owner from the dog's residence came home while i was signing the log, taking about as long to open the gate, drive in and shut the gate as I did to sign, replace and head off. A terrific series budgie, thanks for the innovative and clever hides along the lovely walking track.

03-Jun-12
Nice cammo. Tftc

03-Jun-12
Took a while to find seeing it was not along the track! Good hide not seen before. Thanks Budgietas for a great series.

02-Jun-12
As I sat where I sat larst time with GPS showing GZ I knew what I was looking for so sent the boy over to collect the cache. Signed I walked over to make sure it was installed correctly. We really enjoyed the family day out walking up this trail and hope to see more over time. Now for the great walk back to the car.
JABs.

02-Jun-12
Stealth mode was required for the search on this one. It was obvious from the location and previous logs, that a dog would most probably give us away. The GPS was again all over the place, but after a short time and extending the search area, the tricky little cache was found. There were a few deep barks heard, but not serious enough to let the owners know that there was someone nearby. TFTC!

01-Jun-12
Walking up the track, my GPSr seemed a little confused, so I walked further up the road, and back down the middle. Now it pointed me to the right spot, and I found the hide quickly.
Retrieving the log turned into a 5 minute battle, though!
Thanks for the series, budgie.

Our GPS didn't settle down at all but we got there in the end (WITHOUT any assistance Big Grin. Very clever and definitely a 'favourite'.

After been pulled between two possible spots I had to pull out from this one as the house above GZ, the dog started barking at me and soon after a couple of lights came on. Not wanting to case a panic I left this one for another day.
