Having seen my best buddies found this I persevered a bit longer and eventually spotted red. It wasn't litter! Thanks for the hide.#10869
Visiting Nelson today, and out with a local cacher who is kindly driving me around. A nice quick find here, TFTC
Visiting from the state of Washington in the United States. We flew into Wellington. After the Te Papa museum and finding the oldest cache in New Zealand, we took the ferry to Picton. We went out to Lochmara Lodge for a day and then drove through Havelock to Nelson. We had a fun event with local geocachers in Nelson, then yesterday decided to take the water taxi from Marahou to Anchorage Bay to hike the trails including out to Pitt Head. We had lunch at Pitt Head Lookout. We had a great fun finding caches along the way. Ended up with 4 finds and only one DNF.Today I was out in Richmond and Nelson looking for some challenges and traditionals as well as my first letterbox in New Zealand. It was a fun morning. Thanks for the hides.
Good hide I like it's place you put it. Also thanks for the v clue that really helped
A nice quick find on a great morning, mopping up some hides in the area. Find number four so far today. TFTC
Well hidden in the v in the tree. There is a bird’s nest above it with 4-5 blue eggs in it. I couldn’t see or hear mum so I am not sure if she is still about. Take care when you are here in the future. TFTC Sidewaze.
As long as I was on this road finding the challenges, I thought it would be rude not to find this one, too. TFTC.
On a west coast adventure and on our way to Nelson for a few days . My first time to travel up the west coast of the south island In 20 years so this time we get to cache our way in to uncharted territory, so let's see what fun adventures awaite us bring it on.
Day five of our road trip , to day we are exploring the Nelson area ,let's see what fun adventures awaite us.
This was one we worked out a while ago and we have made our way north to see how many caches from our list we can find .
So here goes. Pick this one up along the way .this is a great area to have a look around and see the different types of farming.
Life is short. Live one foot step at a time.Never say" I'm gonna "- Just do it!!

A sunday adventuring with Missnboyz. Park and grabs today dodging between the rain. Another one to the collection. Thanks Sidewaze.
Thanks for the history and s quick find to add to our tally today out with shellsadventure.
I disabled my caches during Level 4 lockdown to encourage everyone to do the right thing. Now we’re moving to Level 3 I’m going to leave the decision to search for a cache or not to each individual. Remember you still need to stay in your bubble and a bit of hand sanitiser before and after handling a cache would be appropriate. Keep yourself and others safe.

A quick find after struggling with a few earlier down this road. All good here, TFTC Sidewaze.
Another day in Nelson/Tasman today, and the aim is to get some bike friendly ones. So I targeted a few trails and loops, then winged the rest of the day. Brightwater was the general area today, as there are also a few COs that I want to increase my find tallies on, and this area was a good start. A handful of DNFs but overall pretty happy with about 35 found. Thanks all COs.

On my way to the new Vege shop I made a little detour and stopped here to quickly find this one. Had to wait for some cars to pass before grabbing and same before replacing, didn't expect traffic here. Just in time before the rain started.
Out to pick up some caches missed on a previous visit. Was buried under leaves but all good.
Found with NZDi. Our daughter had bought a new car and sold her old one to a guy from Takaka. The plan was for them to meet in Richmond to seal the deal and if everything went to plan, she would need a lift back home to Blenheim. Queue the 'Mum and Dad' taxi service. We decided to make a day of it and visit the Nelson Market and do a bit of shopping as well. The handover was scheduled for around 3pm, so after lunch we had a bit of time on our hands and there was no better way to occupy it than seek out a few geocaches.
This was our fifth find of the day. It was interesting to read a bit about the local pioneers. NZDi's family is of German descent and farmed land in the Neudorf Valley near Upper Moutere when I first met her.
Another QEF PnG on a rural road.

We had spent all morning helping our kids with house chores, and now it was after lunch. We really wanted to sign the logs for the nearby challenge caches, so as we had a bit of time before we had to pick up the grandies from school, we thought we would come this way and find a few caches. A gorgeous, sunny day and a most beautiful drive out to these caches. This was a pretty quick find and sign. Thanks for the hide and the smiley!!!
Picked this up whilst picking up the challenge caches. All good here.

Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth . And I love it! [:X]
Still there are routes and places in this beautiful country that are on the 'discover-me' list and want to be visited and explored. .
Although Nelson was already part of the tour back in 2017, due to the bad weather [xx(] there was not much of caching [B)] then.
So today (#24) with splendid, sunny weather was dedicated to make up for that and to tour around the beautiful area of Nelson and Richmond - by foot and by car .
There were some cool challenge-caches to be collected ....
And on top, the goal was to manage finding 7 different cache-types in one single day - YESSSS!!! [^] [^]
So I was busy to pick up a lot of cute local treasures [^] - just like this one:
Very tricky hide , it took some time to find it .
Glad that this one could be turned into a smiley!
By the way, the most recent log entry in the logbook is dated October 2018, see enclosed picture.
Thanks to the owner [:X] for placing and maintaining this cache and best regards from Germany!

A quick find. Lovely views down the road to the mountains. Thank-you Sidewaze for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Out caching with Will of the Wisp on our “Round the World in 80 Days” trip to celebrate retirement. Signing logs with our names or initials depending on space. Greetings from England, TFTC.
A quick find while driving past on our way up the highway with SJT_NZ. Was in the neighbourhood to bag a challenge cache we'd qualified for but got "tractored, aka muggled by tractor and driver and wife and farm consultant, I'm sure uncle tom cobbly was probably in the vicinity as well. Anyway The Count cache was a bonus and in very good order with a pretty fresh log, TFTC.
TregearP and I needed to visit the section to see if the silt traps on some new drains needed clearing and were aiming to grab a nearby puzzle for the points in the current challenge. Wasn't going to happen - every man, woman and their dog was hanging around the GZ. This was a consolation some 200m odd further down the road. Thanks again for another cache Sidewaze.
Finally remembered to replace this one. Apologies to those who had to put up with the original.
Another fun packed geotrip exploring Nelson with The Seagnoid, Toby and Zara. So lets go! Its drizzling today so raincoats and gumboots are the order of the day.
Thanks for the history lesson with this cache. Snagged this very wet cache. Cheers

I'm working on my calendar project, getting my finds up to five per day. I need to find a cache both Saturday and Sunday, and want to save the local caches for weekday requirements, so... geotrip! .
Taybeedragon and I arrived Friday night. Today its raining. It rained all day. Non stop. Mostly just drizzling, so we went caching anyway.
I like the write-up here, it's always nice to learn a bit of history. The cache however is getting rusty. Or, at least, the conttents are.l.p.

2 January 2018 13:46. Since I did a detour of several hundred km to get the other caches down this road it would seem rude not to get this one too. However, log book is full. TFTC Sidewaze
I was down the road & thought this cache deserved a visit.
Strip of paper added to extend the log; thanks for this cache. Sidewaze.

We are on a family holiday to Nelson.
We had tea and there was a window of opportunity to head out and hunt for smilies. Nobody wanted to join me. So I am going solo.

Stopped for a quick find here. May need to keep an eye on this spot as the wind break seems to be in the process of being cut down. Water in container, but we dried it out. tftc
Did two circuits before I spied the cache. And thanks nor the history lesson. Suited the German trackable I was carrying
I had no problem which tree a quick easy find one part of my family came from Germany. Thanks for the cache sidewaze.
Found whilst cycling the Great Taste Trail and the Twin Rivers Walkway. #26 find of 27 caches attempted today. I rode right past this cache (by 30m) before realising that there was a cache just behind me. Nice quick find once I searched the right tree. TFTC.
Looked for this on a previous visit to Nelson without success. Probably when had my previous GPS. TFTC
#2834. After attending a funeral in Blenheim yesterday, I decided to spend the night in Nelson and give myself a chance to make start on the very large numbers of caches in this region. By 4pm when I dropped off the rental car at the airport, I had managed to find 37 caches between Nelson and Motueka (plus one more cache in Wellington to fulfil the requirements for the "North and South Island in One Day Challenge" GC5RJFK). Parked opposite and soon found the cache. Signed the log and replaced as found. Time to head to the airport. Thanks for the cache. Interesting bit of local history. Another reason why I love geocaching.
surpisingly busy piece of road along here, since I came back to this area I thought we had better stop and get a couple of others in the area that we haven't yet found, this is one of them tftc
A quick find and replace while the mower at the end of the road was out of sight. Cheers.
ANZAC weekend time for a wee road trip. Ah Monday cruising around then the long trek home to Christchurch.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

#10417. Although I'd sussed out the hide a few months back, it still took a couple of minutes to track down. TFTC.
TFTC. Up in this lovely part of the world for a weekend with my fab girlfriends. However that kicks off tomorrow - what could I possibly do today????
I decided to focus on a few caches around Richmond and Brightwater on this beautiful sunny day.
I signed the log 29.11.15 by mistake it was the 27.11.15.
Thanks Sidewaze for placing the cache.

Found it with Team FIN [janahola, kapeka, laalaa & temyllyl]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in New Zealand. Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was pretty good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!
Greetings from Finland

Seventh day on our geo-roadtrip in New Zealand, and caching our way towards south. Logged using our group nickname FIN with janahola, laalaa and kapeka. Driving to south and heading to Christchurch Mega event. Heading south by west coast via some nice caches!
On a geoholiday road tripping to Christchurch MEGA and around beautiful New Zealand. Our four people group (temyllyl, laalaa, kapeka and myself) from Finland used group tag FIN to log the caches.
Welcome to MEGA Finland in 5-7 august 2016!
Today we drove from Nelson to Greymouth. Of course we caching on the way. This was one of todays finds. TFTC!

Another weekend, yay. Another trip over the hill to Nelson, yay (ish). Off to the shops to look for a new lounge suite, a bike rack and a trip to Richmond Mall, (not yay) So the deal was struck. A blend of shopping, a few caches, Tally the dog along for the trip and a visit to Tahunanui Beach to get some sand therapy. Weather promises to be good all weekend which is a bonus and means I can plan to do caches without the encumbrance of a raincoat.
Only now do I read why this cache is so named. I thought it might be The Count off Sesame Street Bwahahahahaha, but not to be.
Nice easy find and on I go, time ticking down till I pick up the girls. A few Sidewaze caches today too, yay
